Lily Allen recently found herself in hot
water after revealing that she returned her adopted puppy, Mary, to a shelter. The
reason? The dog ate her and her family's passports during the Covid-19 lockdown,
creating a logistical nightmare that kept them from traveling for months. But the
singer is pushing back against the backlash, saying that the decision was about
more than just the passports. In an emotional response on social media, Lily
explained that Mary had severe separation anxiety, which made it impossible to leave her alone
for even a short time. Despite working with a behavior specialist and a professional trainer,
it became clear that their home wasn't the right fit for the dog. After much deliberation, the
family decided that rehoming Mary was in her best interest. The pup was placed with someone known
to the family within 24 hours of being returned. Lily also addressed the harsh
criticism she's received online, including death threats, calling the situation
distressing and the accusations unfounded. She emphasized that Mary's happiness and welfare were
the driving forces behind the difficult decision. Despite the ordeal, Lily hinted that
the family might soon welcome a new dog, a chihuahua mix, into their lives.
