the European football season has truly begun and the UEFA Champions League is set to get even more exciting this season with a new format earlier we used to have 32 teams competing in different groups but it all changes this season where a total of 36 teams will be competing in a league format the league stage will progress in a manner that would see each team play eight opponents in four home and four away matches the top eight teams would automatically qualify for the round of 16 while those placed from 9th to 24th would play against each other in a playoff round for the remaining eight spots in the round of teams which finish from 25th to 36th in the league standings would be directly eliminated unlike the old Champions League system there would be no team that would drop to the Europa League when it comes to the draw for the league stage fixtures in the Champions League teams will be placed in four different parts as per their seedings each team will face two teams from each partt in a home and away format this is how eight matches of each Club in the league stage would be decided what do you think of this new Champions League format let us know
