done one of these like live on IG anything like that so this is new um but if you guys don't know Sean the president that's what some people call me welcome to a special edition of the safe room live on Instagram hope you guys are enjoying yourself we got a couple things to talk about Jeff my man what's up what's up um yeah so in this special edition of the safe room live um if you see the pin Comet um the federal election uh I want to talk about it will give my predictions as well for the VMAs and really what I want to talk about in terms of the federal election is not specifically who you guys are going to vote for because like that's not really in my discretion to tell you who to vote for but more so in terms of like the process like how we should be approaching this federal election basically now obviously I know lots of you have been seeing what's been happening you know who are we going to vote for are we going to go for the conservative party we going to go to NDP do we go back to liberals and everything and people are just asking a bunch of questions and everything and I just want to give like my personal take on it and hopefully whatever I'm saying kind of shine some light on you guys but honestly like here here's what I have to say about it so I feel in my opinion this is probably if not the most important important election in Canada's history like ever and like again I can't speak on the past but like to be completely honest like I don't think any like period before then prior to now can say you know we've gone through a whole pandemic we've had to deal with uncertainty being at an absolute High we haven't have to deal with you know Financial like issues and everything I don't think there's any other period if there is you can correct me if I'm wrong but um I really think that this is the most important like election if not like of all Canadian history like in the modern era so far like I don't think people realize how crucial this time is right now like going out there and making your vote really counts I know that's like a cliche at this point where every vote counts I no I mean it like truly like if we don't go out there and speak our rights into what we want better in terms of change then we're really not going to be moving forward in like you know in the right direction so with that being said I feel like it's important that I will address these certain things I'm about to say right now if you are an individual and there's no shame in this if you are an individual that doesn't really partake that much in politics that doesn't really understand like you know the levels the implications just the talk the the discussions overall if you're not within this field but you want to be that voice and you want to express like you know your rights and your opinion about who or which party should I say you want to vote for or who which candidate you want to go for what I will say please please please do your research before you hit the polls or anything before you make your final decision because I feel like a lot of us kind of go off of the social norms of like hey like if my friends are like following this then I'm going to go with this like if most of my friends are like liberals I'mma vote liberals or if my family members are doing NDP if you know some of my friends and family are going to be the conservatives I'm going to rock with them and like we got to stop like can can we have a like talk can we like sit down like across chair to chair and like really say like can we stop that like who is it in their discretion in their terms to tell you who you should vote for again like this is not this is different to like what I'm about to talk about later with the VMAs where it's like listen you can tell me who I want to vote for and I it's like it's cool because there's really nothing on the line it's it's an award it's not going to have a significant change in the music industry we're talking about a federal election in Canada and I find it interesting that you know again you could be guilty by association I'm just going to say it because again I just like to speak my mind on it the 2020 election if there wasn't like so many people like when I had a conversation it's like like yo y'all better not vote for Trump man y'all y'all better not be doing this like I know Canadians and listen before you say anything you're guilty of this I don't care there's so many Canadians that partake in the presidential election every time in the states like we're always like our eyes are glued to what's happening what's everything like who you should vote for who you should not vote for you hear that a lot as well but then when it comes to our own election you know you start to you start to cling on to people like oh who were you voting for voting for them like because of this and that and then like sometimes you may tell yourself well cool that's what you want to do and other times people are kind of like you know what yeah you know I'm just going to vote for that person cuz you know they voted for them too that's a bad mentality like that's the bad mentality you do not want that like honestly like I said like I feel like we get so caught up with what's happening in the states that sometimes when they have their election that we don't even pay attention to our own stuff and then when it comes to the time people get mad about the results regardless you know like and honestly again I've been guilty like you know for the longest time you know I may believe of what I voted for in terms of like what other people say or what my family say and everything and it's not to say that you know you should like hold that like bad on your conscience but again if you're someone that doesn't know that much it's okay to do research and understand about what each party's platform standing for like what do the candidates promise what are their action plans what do they try to do what are some of the critiques that you know their opposition say about each other that's important you know like how much you know debates have they attended you know how much campaigns have they done and I I know it sounds like a lot of work but at the same time like it's our vote like sometimes you're going to have to put in the extra effort to get what you want and you just skimming through won't help so again to those who don't know that much I advise that you do your research and you understand exactly how much Leverage is being placed now to the people who don't understand and don't want to learn and just want to go and vote please and I put this in the nicest way possible I don't want to be very like I would say aggressive stay away from the polls if you're that person that's not even willing to take the chance of day to look at everything again do not go vote and again this kind of stems off to like you know know the the aspect of social norms like you know what are you following like are people mostly voted for them or you mostly voted for this party other than this party again that's where you get caught up in the mixup and it's like do we really have like the free will to choose what we want to do like if we're doing this in terms of like an election everything we like honestly it's not again it's not in your own discretion or should I say the other person's discretion excuse me to tell you what to do what happens is in just daily life like how can I not know like this not just happens to you all the time like people just tell you what to do like it's bad it's a bad mentality like I mentioned before so please if you are someone who just doesn't care and doesn't want to like learn about what's happening please again in the nicest way possible don't be going the polls making the decision that you have no clue or you don't understand how much you know again how much impact it has cuz like that's bad B it's not to say that you know I want to rob you in terms of your right but again like I mentioned before like prior you know do some research and if not it's just like I don't even know what to say just like why would you do that like imagine like your one vote could have been the difference about the winner for two parties and that's because not and like your reason behind it like I didn't really know anything I didn't care about anything I just voted cuz I voted you know you know like that that like it's a powerful tool you know us having the ability to vote especially how like you know especially for women at a point where they couldn't vote at all so again like I think it's something that we need to take our time with it's a process that yes it's a heavy burden that we need to you know deal and process and you really investigate and analyze but at the same time like you know don't be ignorant like like don't be ignorant like please like we're not asking you to do that you know so like we would appreciate that on behalf of everyone who you know wants to know more now again like kind of to just go into more detail and extend a bit what does that mean in terms of like well what if you don't know well sometimes you may know the candidates but maybe you don't know about you know the topics itself you know may cuz I know the the election it kind of focuses on like all different aspects all different ranges of topics but obviously there's like specific ones I think the one specifically it's going to be highlight the most is obviously like the pandemic Co like how are we going to recover through this and obviously as well um climate change that's a huge one as well uh you know what's going to happen with the the Paris deal how is that going to have uh an impact but you could be the opposite way around maybe you kind of know more about the topics and everything but you don't know about the party itself maybe you don't know about the individual like one thing you want to do like take the time to like search up like the names of like you know the party lead ERS you know go search up Aaron OU from the conservatives Justin Trudeau from the Liberals J Singh from NDP the leaders of the um the party Quebec quad The People's Party the green party like go do that like it's not that hard like please I I would tell you this because not I'm not being annoying or I'm trying to be stubborn but more in the sense of like like I care like I care like if we're if we're being honest and we're looking at the history of Canada it's not pretty no matter how much they want to tell you and like kind of cover up with all these false narratives and these you know behindth scen stories or how much hey look how much multiculturalism we have we're the most Multicultural city in the world there's dirty truths there's dirty truths and I think just seeing that and like hearing it from whether it's in the institutions of like universities and high schools or just hearing it on social media as well or even talking about it even in the past on my podcast like I feel that you can only like go so far before you know you just kind of get tired about seeing this and like anytime someone mentions it it's not that you don't care but like it just comes to you as like white noise like it's dead it's dead what like okay like you hear it it's like we expect that or like you don't have the reaction it's just poker phrase in a way so like I'm saying this in the sense of like Canada needs to do better and there needs to be change now again I'm not going to tell you who to vote but I will say this I'm hoping that after this election that we start to see like new a fresh new start I don't want it to be that literally this is a bunch of PR and honestly that's what it is sometimes most of the times it's PR and once it's done we're just back in the same hole we're back in the same spot like you know I I don't want that to be I don't want to live in an area where like we're not really Progressive at the same time we're somehow moving backwards you know it's kind of like you're running a treadmill and you think you're making progress but then the speed picks up and then you know you're actually five steps behind like we can be doing that so again I think it's important that you guys take your time with this decision that you understand the significance of what your vote means and it should be something that oh I have a vote like let me go in there like cool like let me go vote let me just do this and that be a part of the the group well you can be a part of the group and also make a change and make a difference and again sometimes you know we don't always get what we want like I'm being honest what I'm saying I don't know if the party you have in mind is going to even win I don't even know I don't know if the party I have in mind when I go vote is going to win but I would rather know that the vote I did counted to a cause of that I know what this party represents or more importantly I know that I understand the status of what the Canadian Society is right now and I'm glad that whatever vote I put I understand that from a deeper lens and a deeper perspective rather than you just going with the popular vote and you still don't know what's even happening within your own Community or better yeah you know what's happening but you feel like you just know the bare minimum and you can't really speak on it cuz there are people like that you know sometimes you have conversations with individuals like they want to talk about this and want to talk about that but they don't have enough knowledge again information in this like age despite how it disseminates so smoothly it's it becomes stagnant like sometimes the information can get passed by only bits only make it to its last destination so then within the way like that middleman in a way when it comes to like you know productivity I'm business like I'm sorry I'm a boo student like you can't blame me right you have like the like the middleman right here somewhere in the shuffle there's like key pieces of information that gets lost so then when it reaches to like you know the finished product like the Final Destination it's not as complete as it was when it first started it was ready to be shipped so and again if that sounded a little cheesy then take it what it is but um honestly I I wish you guys are taking the time and precaution to evaluate this I know I am like even even before I had this topic I was actually searching up the different parties like you know what are C certain promises that they're going to do again I focus more in terms of like you know maybe Health Care the covid pandemic you know the recovery um you know especially in towards the the treatment of indigenist people as well um I focus on those aspects I mean obviously everyone has different views and who they focus on specifically or what topics they focus on specifically but those are the ones I kind of honed into again like I'm still Community First I still am Community First I'm part of the community I'm part of a community where times are difficult like resources are not always allocated to you that you always have to ask for more but again the institutions could be stingy they can be really stingy the government can be very just they can be tough they could be jackasses I'm going to be honestly I'm sorry I I don't usually use this language but it's the TR it's the the god honest TR but um I hope you guys really understand when I'm coming from again I wasn't really going to come on here and really tell you who to vote for I wasn't really going to go on an indepth analysis of like okay let's evaluate the promises let's evaluate against some the critiques because if we do that I'd be here for hours like I honestly would be here for an hour men maybe I would probably be here for two hours but I don't want to do that I didn't come here to do that I know I was supposed to talk to my podcast but you know I've been so busy with other things I just wanted to give like my open take on this basically but yeah that that's pretty much it I hope you guys again just just take the time knowledge yourself you know apply yourself gain knowledge when you gain knowledge you gain understanding when you have the understanding you can make change that's all I'm going to say I'm going to leave it like that um but in terms of like other things things this discussion is not just based on the federal election I also wanted to give my VMAs predictions something quick something short I tried to find the page I don't know where it is but if you guys don't know the VM September 12th I may watch it I may I don't know I mean it's literally the day before like I go back on campus or or should I say classes on campus or like you know [Music] ah I I legit don't even like I don't know man I don't know I just don't feel like going back on campus I don't anyway um I'm not going to go through all the nominees or the all the categories just more the main ones now again in terms of picks I'm only going for my pick there's probably songs I haven't even heard that I haven't got the chance to listen to I'm not going to lie but um yeah so we got video of the year we got cardi Megan [ __ ] you got pop star with dren khed um kiss me more DOA Sia Ed shearing bad habits I know he's dropping an album soon I should probably Mark that down somewhere um L NAX call me by your name and then the weekend save your tears what this video the year I thought was song of the year um I'm scratching Ed cuz again I haven't heard the song so I'm scratching little NX I'm sorry it's just look look say say say what you want but man like I'm I'm not messing this guy I'm not I'm not I'm just not don't ask me why listen I have my view you guys have your view just just keep it at that um I guess cut the I don't think Drake is going to win I don't think doge is going to win honestly between cardi and the weekend I feel like okay my pick is the weekend but I think what might win is cardi and Megan I I like I understand what the song kind of meant in terms of like female empowerment I get that but I mean it it I think for any of the especially for the males I think we it goes deeper than that like oh it goes deeper than that I'm I'm terrible yeah I'm going with the weekend for my pick uh who I think may win actually it's cardi Megan artist of the year Ariana Grande DOA cat Justin Bieber Megan stallion Olivia Rodrigo I actually saw I saw what's it the um High School Musical um the musical the series Ser wasn't too bad wasn't terrible it was was actually pretty okay you know and I actually looked at her and I kind of had a hunch that you know she's probably like Disney's biggest star right now I'm assuming and everyone's going nuts I mean I've only heard a couple tracks from the album she dropped depends you know so I can't really give a fullon take and then Taylor Swift um I'm going to scratch Ariana because I don't think she's done anything this year [Music] um I'm scratching Taylor I don't know if Olivia is going to win it will she win is Olia Rodrigo popping like that like I I I be seeing like sometimes on my YouTube feed like she be trending like with videos and everything like is she really popping like that I don't know I I I don't know I'm just looking like who's been dominated in 2021 I don't even I don't even think Megan's been dominated in 2021 she's tooking a break like it may be Olivia it's either Olivia or DOA or even Justin actually actually you know what I Hip Hop Awards they sound way more interesting than the VMAs and that's only in a couple of weeks and it's going to be taped why is it going to be taped I mean I understand like Co but why not why not just do it live like who knows what what if the artist is like spoil something cuz I know someone's about to spoil and be like hey thanks for the honor days ahead before it actually drops and it's like whoops imagine have to be quiet for 4 days until you can actually acknowledge you won an award like I don't know that makes no sense but um I hope you guys enjoyed this special live episode I guess in a way of the safe room um I do have a couple things planning up and I think it's fair to say that I'm very happy in the direction I'm heading which reminds me I'm almost approaching 50 episodes of the safe room which is crazy I I didn't even think I was going to get to five when I started this but we're about to hit 50 so hey who who knows who knows that's the craziest thing like there's nothing even plugged into this like look it's a prop um but yeah we're approaching episode number 50 real soon I'm looking to do something really big something special and hopefully something crazy and I will tell you this right now I will be doing a couple episodes maybe two episodes a week so again you you heard it first if not I'll probably send another announcement through my reals again there'll be a couple weeks where I do two episodes a week um it's more of like a grind thing cuz I I know I have a lot of stuff and some are with guest some are by myself and I don't want to hold these topics in my mind where I forget I don't want that for myself but um yeah but I will say this for the 50th episode I talked B on my recent post if you checked it out there was a big announcement um the announcement will be made I will tell you specifically what I am teasing and what I want to share with you guys I can't wait to share it I'm proud of it I hope you guys are ready I really do but um thank you guys so much I hope you guys enjoy everything that you have just enjoy life you know just be great grateful for everything you have you know it's really important just to
