incredibly some of the flood affected parts of Tasmania had been trying to cope with a severe drought small pores animal rescue near New norfol is one excuse me organization dealing with the Topsy Turvy conditions and gee they certainly have been for more let's go back to our reporters Lena Ross who's with the shelters Wendy Stewart yes Michael that's right and we're also with uh Freya the lamb as well so as you mentioned it has been really you know a drought affected area over quite a long time and now we've got such a heavy rainfall that has passed through this area over the past week so Wendy what have you been seeing here look we've seing torrential rain and such a change in the landscape as well we've gone from such a dry area now to a bog um and it's been incredibly difficult for us as well as the animals to manage how do you manage it I mean you've got quite a quite a hord of animals here we do we have over 200 rescue animals um we manage it slowly and we manage it carefully to make certain that all of the animals are fed um in a timely manner really yeah what are the key concerns when you've got so much water around uh look the key concerns are safety first of all um and making certain that all of the animals like Lulu that's giving you a little nudge there um and telling you that she's hungry um are fed they're well cared for and also that they're dry and safe also we've not only had the rainfall but we've had the cold weather that's come along with that rainfall so we've had to make certain that the animals are dry and that they're warm because you know if they're not fed appropriately the cold sets in uh and that can be a danger to the animals also and you've had issues with water over the road and Dam spilling as well what's been happening there we have so our top Dam has actually filled as you could imagine run down to the second Dam which is overflowed it's flowed down onto the road just below that road was virtually impossible and the residents at the top of the hill have had you know some issues getting through that so that's been another concern for us all right well thank you Wendy we'll leave it there but thanks for updating us on what you've been seeing and back to you Michael
