i should point out that england are favorites with the england bookmakers it may be different to board probably what have you made of england's approach it is quite methodical four gay four goals in four games and four clean sheets but it's an approach which is working so far it's working for them so i think uh the nation can't complain you know i mean they they showed a solid performance against germany the other day and uh then a good side of the bracket as well of the draw so if there's if there's a chance for them to go through to the next stage it says now and i mean everybody's talking about the approach of southgate's too defensive whatsoever but at the end of the day it's about result and um we did it also in 2014 with van gaal we were playing a 532 system and everybody was honing about fungal it's not the right system we were too much defensive whatsoever but at the end of the day it's about success and going to the next stage and you've got to give southgate also the respect that he deserves and he's doing a great job with england at this stage he'll only get he'll only get stick for it if they don't win the tournament and i gotta be difficult with my words here because i've said this before english football england has been very good to me um i think they're going to win it i think the stars have aligned beautifully seven games six of them at home i mean you can look at this one coming up against ukraine obvious favorites that doesn't mean to say they're going to get through i think they will the next game against denmark and not an easy game they'll be you know danes are always big physical aggressive if it is denmark then the final no matter who they play at wembley at home with the majority of the crowd with the momentum i see them winning it i i really do and they'll only be criticized and i've been i've been critical of the style of play i mean it doesn't get me on the edge of my seat but it's pragmatic it gets results and if they end up wrestling players for a quarterfinal of a big tournament that's a dangerous route to go down gary's got to focus on picking the best team that he thinks we get over the line and he's done a brilliant beating them eventually in a competition but you know as a manager you're forever looking for ways to bring your your players back down to earth you know playing everything down they've done nothing has the momentum so why change the system just based on one player go with the the 11 that he played against on germany give them the give them the chance also to to play against the ukraine so don't change the system and what i really like about this england team is that you can see the the the togetherness of this team there's no there are no egos you know there's no there's no momentum going in the wrong direction as well there's no jealousy in the team i don't know how it is but let's look for me looking at the outside so i think that's also a big help and what what roy said that is also to do with southgate as a manager you know how good of a manager is it to keep everybody together i think that is what we do in this english quarter it's very easy when you're winning something but that's the whole but that's the whole reason why they're still in the tournament they're winning games and they're going to the next stage there doesn't seem to be a circus around england a lot a lot of big tournaments we've seen over the years we don't have to go into it there's a bit of a circus girl on certain personalities we don't see it with this group we don't see with this group and i think there will be egos amongst the group of course they're big players for big clubs but again this is where garrett's management skills come into it he's been doing he's managed it his personality i think has been vital and the biggest danger thing to know going to ukraine who obviously are one of the weakest teams is the biggest danger of england is themselves if they just take their eye off dangers have never been greater for players today and a manager's job has never been more difficult with social media you know it's not like have to give an interview to a tv company or a radio station or a written journal a journalist who writes in a newspaper they can just go onto their phone or whoever works their social media accounts for them so it's never been more difficult for the players and for the manager today to keep a lid on it when things that can go both ways can't it you can be down in the dumps because everyone's telling you you're an idiot or you can feel your world
