Former UGA QB shares thoughts on Carson Beck good morning dog Nation I'm Brandon Adams and this is dog Nation daily daily podcast for Georgia Bulldogs fans presented today by bra pass management and we are happy to have you with us no matter where you're tuning in across Facebook or YouTube or whatever else just really really glad to have you as a part of the show today obviously we're looming closer and closer to SEC media days one of the things we're going to get into on the show today is something I don't think you have to worry about hearing from Kirby Smart uh at SEC media days perhaps a little bit of a reminder that sometimes boring is not necessarily a bad thing we'll uh talk about that more here coming up in just a minute also there are Rumblings and grumblings out there of perhaps a little bit more conference realignment stuff I think this is interesting in a number of fronts we'll try to explain exactly why that is but also to a begin here today uh speaking of SEC media days a chance for one of Georgia's most important players to perhaps deliver a very strong message uh next week kind of laying the groundwork for what could be a phenomenal season for ug here this year we'll tell you what one former beloved Bulldog is saying about that here today so as you would imagine we are fully loaded and ready to go and glad to have you with us it is dog Nation daily the daily podcast for Georgia Bulldogs fans uh presented today by braa Pest Management and it begins right now today's episode of dog Nation daily is brought to you by braa Pest Management the official pest control of ug Athletics presented by dog.com this is dognation daily the daily podcast for Georgia Bulldogs fans here's your host Brandon Adams all right a quick programming note here coming up very special Wednesday surprise we don't normally get Jeff Cel to talk ug recruiting on a Wednesday but I believe today we are going to get a chance to do that Mike Griffith is we don't know but uh Jeff sentel do believe uh is out there for us here today so we're going to talk to him a lot of times we'll talk to Mike on a Wednesday uh Mike apparently is not around I don't know uh you never really quite know on some of this kind of stuff sometimes but either way we'll have Jeff cintel here coming up in a little bit that's going to be a really fun thing also in a couple of minutes time there as well I'm going to explain why sometimes maybe boring isn't exactly a bad thing when it comes to your favorite college football team we'll get to that here coming up in just a little bit prior to that I want to talk about Carson back here for a moment and total honesty obviously we are aware of some of the stuff that you sometimes see on the internet that we don't necessarily talk about around here there are just some topics that I am more than happy to see to other people and perhaps professionally this is a mistake maybe I would have a bigger audience if I would sort of venture into some territory for now thankfully we have all the listeners and viewers that we need but if we wanted to have even more people we could perhaps Venture into certain territory and we'd maybe get that but I think there's something too staying in your lane so therefore when it comes to like sing over Instagram models or getting into TMZ style gossip about who's dating who and what's going on with what that's just sort of one of those things I'm happy to leave for somebody else not because it's wrong to talk about it frankly I don't know if it's wrong or not I just simply don't care so therefore we're not all that into that kind of thing but there's no that Carson backck because of the level of Fame he achieved last year and because of the nil money that exists for players like that who kind of achieved that Fame here in 2024 Carson Beck is probably having a very different experience moving into this what we expect to be his final season at Georgia then some other quarterbacks in some previous eras of college football would have perhaps been experiencing coming into something like this there's just a level of Fame and perhaps the trappings of Fame that have the potential of coming back way that are just maybe not quite the same as what other quarterbacks would have experienced in the past and sort of the pre in L era and all of that kind of like uh Spoils of of Fame all of that also comes coupled with the expectations that you then go out and play the way that everybody thinks you can for this upcoming year in one way or another that sort of um that's sort of the the conversation happening around C back right now now last Friday unrelated to like anything you've seen on Instagram you know I was talking to Jake from another former geordan quarterback about Carson Beck this was more in connection with the fact that Beck had just been at the Manning Passing Academy and that's one of those rights of Passage all the top quarterbacks go there every single year it's one of those stamps that let you know kind of the who's who of who the real star quarterbacks have the potential to be both in terms of the so-called counselors these are the college guys working with the younger guys who will one day be you know famous in household names Jake from told us on Friday if you missed that show day after Fourth of July you ought to go back and see it's really pretty interesting or listen to it because Jake talked about kind of getting to know Arch Manning at the Manning Passing Academy back when Arch was just a seventh grader they kind of developed a little bit of a relationship there at that time I thought that was really interesting but in light of the fact that back was there kind of showcasing his talents a little bit but also occasionally ask being asked some questions about you know kind of you know what his Outlook is for the upcoming season got a chance to ask Jake from who kind of and this is one of the reasons why we love having guys who've played the game on the show you know guys who've played the game just have a chance to share a perspective that someone like me can't match you know because Jake as much as anybody in the world knows what it feels like to kind of do the job that Carson backck is doing getting uh a degree of the same kind of attention that Carson backck is uh currently getting Jake from sort of understands that a little bit so I asked Jake on Friday's show perhaps you heard it and saw it I asked Jake on Friday show hey what do you think that Carson Beck's mindset ought to be for the upcoming season and I thought that Jake gave an incredibly forceful answer incredibly interesting maybe a little saltier than we sometimes play around here but I think also appropriate there as well in fact I think that Jake's answer to that question on Friday is so good it's worth hearing again so let me let you hear this what Jake from says Carson Beck's mindset should be coming into the upcoming season this is really good you know I'm trying to put myself into his shoes and what the mindset would be to me my mindset would be man I'm I'm going into the season and I'm pissed off I'm pissed off because they didn't give us an opportunity to win three in a row um they they they took something away from me and now this is my opportunity to to go make it right so um I'm I'm going into this season and I'm expecting and wanting to win every single football game and go out and compete and and play just absolutely exceptional every single time my feet touches the grass so um that's just kind of like what where I would be in in that in that kind of mindset going in and um I it's it's time to to to go and win another one and um man I think he's fully capable of doing so so if you're watching that video clip or watching us on video right now you see the continuity of me wearing the same shirt then than I'm wearing now I'd love to tell you that was something we planned for today's show the truth is I just have a tendency to sometimes wear the same stuff over and over again uh that an example of that but my wardrobe aside how about what Jake from says about the mindset of what he'd love to see from Carson back letting the world know that he's ticked off that he's angry about not getting a chance to play for the college football playoff a year ago about not winning a national championship and having that edge on display for the upcoming season now isn't that an interesting thing to hear Jake from say ahead of Carson Beck being at C media days uh for next week isn't that interesting because you know Carson Beck is a guy I said before who clearly is and he probably deserves to do this you know clearly may be enjoying life as the sort of you know celebrity quarterback and the attention that comes the way there on that but wouldn't it be great next week at SEC media days if B could put on display that strong Edge that um that that Jake from right there says he'd like to hear and see from him I think that's the kind of thing because we understand this when a quarterback uses those kinds of words when a quarterback kind of uh I guess puts on display the level of emotion that represents the entire team there is such a powerful degree of leadership sort of gained by that that probably doesn't come from any other position there's just an extra I guess responsibility of leadership that comes the way of quarterback and uh that is certainly uh an example of all of that I think Jake from who kind of understand what it feels to be Carson back more so than anybody else we could talk you know talk to here in this particular space I think that's a very very interesting I guess wish from Jake in terms of what we could hear from Carson Beck and perhaps we will hear something in Beck's Own Way in his own language using his own words but nonetheless sort of displaying a level of hunger to go out and achieve the success that he believes is possible and and to beg's credit if you want to go back to January uh around the time of the orange Bol that's one of the things that the beg did talk about down there part of that Orange Bowl game against Florida State the notion of their being's unfinished business and coming back and handling all of that echoing that message a little bit more next week at SEC media days we just think that if he could find the right words to say in relationship to all of that it could be a powerful powerful uh I guess Catalyst for everything else that can happen for Georgia here this year and perhaps if he does do that uh resembling a little bit of about what Jake just said there uh you know about what he liked for the message to be if B could do that perhaps that'll also Echo the theme that kind of also seemingly exists around Georgia right now remember back in May when Kirby Smart was on the Paul fine bomb show and Kirby was kind of talking about what they were hoping for for the upcoming season things like that you know this idea of being really really mad about not getting last year's National Championship Jake from alluding to that you know Kirby Smart also had his own way of saying that this is a team that perhaps right now has an extra level of focus because it did come up just a little bit short last year this is what Kirby Smart said on this similar theme going back to May with the Paul fine bomb show you know we've come to have an expectation of excellence and there's a standard now of like hey you're supposed to win every game and I I watch that happen you know in Alabama where it was like you know if you're not careful you find no joy in winning and if you take the joy and suck the joy out of winning it makes your career shorter it makes it frustrating for the player so we we still celebrate every win because on the SEC playing on the road is really hard so when we win games uh we get excited about it we find joy in it and um we we've enjoyed that I've enjoyed that ride I think it's different every year like you have a different team I'm trying to figure out exactly what this team needs this team has been a little hungrier in Spring ball CU they didn't win it they weren't in the playoffs so there's a little bit of uh more motivation there so listen we said this at the time if you're a Georgia of course you love the idea of what Kirby Smart is saying a hungrier version of Georgia throughout spring practice throughout this calendar year a hungrier version of ug because they did come up just a little bit short last year man Georgia as talented as it is as focused as it typically is even hungrier than normal of course that speaks to a strong possibility of success for the upcoming season and to have that demonstrated by what your quarterback says next week at SEC media days is all the right things about how ticked off he is about what didn't happen last year and what they want to see happen this year man that could make SEC media days in Dallas really really fun uh Carson Beck because of the position that he plays and the fame that he's already achieved he's going to have a gigantic Spotlight on him and everyone's going to be listening very closely fairly or not to every single thing that he says what a great opportunity the platform that'll be provided Med to say we are approaching the 2024 season with the idea of getting back to where this team was in 2021 and 2022 and for me personally Beck might say to have some of the same kind of success that STS and Bennett enjoyed before me leading my team to a national championship having a taste of that Glory that's what it's about for me I'm mad that I missed my moment last year but I'm hungry to have that moment here this year I'm going to help TR to lead my teammates in that same direction we believe that's something he'll be able to do and talking that way next week as we said before that could make SEC media days very very fun my name's Brandon Adams and this is dog Nation daily the daily podcast for Georgia Bulldogs fans presented today by bra pest man we're happy to have you with us uh whether it's video uh across all platforms at 10: a.m. and of course on demand after that anytime you want radio Athens sports radio 960 the ref podcast Apple Spotify everything else we're we're just really really happy to have you as a part of the program and in fact if you're normally a podcast listener maybe listening on the Apple platform you know one of the things that you could do to help other folks kind of find the show is go to Apple and give us a review especially if it's a good review you know if you don't like the show uh feel free to email me let me know uh what you think about that but if you like the show our preference would be you just sort of tell everybody about that if that is indeed the case either way we're happy to have you here today and give us that Apple review maybe Apple will share the podcast even more folks you we' on that platform since 2015 uh by now we're sort of an old podcast and so we're always looking to kind of find some of those new folks who can help us do that there by giving us a great review also speaking of great reviews that's what our friends at braa P management earn all the time the official Pest Control provider of ug Athletics also brings dog Nation daily to us here today and we love bra because a they're big dog fans just like we are but also we know so many people in our audience who have become big fans of theirs in fact I hear the testimonials there was moment on our dog Nation cruise we were sitting around one of the uh tables we try to move around you know uh throughout the week and have dinner with some different folks and just kind of get to know as many people as we can on board the ship and we were sitting at one of the tables one of the nights and the subject of Brad Pest Management came up and you know folks were talking about uh switching to BR a pest man their termite protection how happy they were to uh you know be able to support a great company like this that's you know built a really big portion of its business around supporting UG and to me that's always the kind of thing that's so gratifying for me to hear because you know I get a chance to know a lot of our sponsors uh Matt bra is a guy that I've got to know pretty well I mostly just see him at games but nonetheless you know we'll bump into each other you know a couple times a year typically speaking and um good people you know I feel very good about the sponsors that we have on our show because I meet a lot of them and I'm very confident knowing they're good hardworking folks who want to take care of people and so when I hear people in our audience telling me good things about the experience they've had when they make the switch to Brad a pest manage well of course course I'm happy about that and of course I love that it's not just the prestige of saying hey I work with the same company that ug works with it's also more money back in your pocket just for making that decision this is a time in which anything you can do to kind of help out your wallet of course you want to do that so making the switch to Brest manager is one of the ways you can do that so I want you to find them online it's braap pass.com b d brass.com one more time that's b r d brass.com uh the official P control provider of ug Athletics also bringing dog Nation daily to us here today all right so we are as we said before going to have a special Wednesday appearance from Jeff Cel in a moment uh looking forward to doing that there's been a lot going on with ug recruiting as of late so we'll kind of catch up on some of that uh what a wild ride that's been but prior to that I want to go around the dogghouse presented today by our friends at Georgia Farm Bureau and as I just talked about before you know next week is SEC Mike Gundy makes waves at Big 12 media days media days we just kind of heard an interesting thought about what Carson back you know might be able to say might be able the message he might be able to deliver with that platform for him next week and by the way let me just say this real quick before I kind of move on here there was an example a little bit of Beck doing this very well last year do you remember we made a big deal about this at the time do you remember when Beck was going into the game against Florida and there was a lot said that week and some of this was being said by his teammates oh Carson's told us man this game is important to him because he's from Jacksonville that Beck was more than happy to talk about his hunger for something with his teammates going into that game lower Stakes because obviously lousy stinking Gators aren't very good but nonetheless Beck was more than happy to put himself out there a little bit a year ago encouraging his teammates I need you to play well because this game matters to me so you know this idea that Beck could come out next week really really hungry and ticked off about not quite having things finished last year the way Georg wanted it to don't be surprised if Beck really does do that or throughout this the course of the summer leading to the start of the season if Beck speaks that way because before last year's game against Florida Beck was more than happy to talk about his personal Ambitions he wanted to win that game in his hometown and he used that as a motivation with his teammates so just sort of file that away and keep that in mind but away from that that's where around the dogghouse here presented by George Farm just for a moment one of the things we also know about George at SEC media days is is that Kirby Smart's longtime uh what is it uh is it modus operandi is that he say that uh you know his his basic strategy at an event like this is to be as boring as possible to get in to get out and not generate any headlines whatsoever and and totally honest here for a moment when you work in the media that's not always the best thing now listen I'm also a Georgia fan so I'm not looking to see Georgia doing bad at an event like this but obviously it's better for our show when Georgia says interesting things that just gives you know you a chance to have a perhaps you know more interesting conversation additional eyeballs and ears on a show if somebody from Georgia says something really interesting so the media side of me would of course like it if georgo went into an event like this with a whole bunch of like bombastic statements and a whole bunch of crazy you know soap opera You Know Drama whatever else of course course if you're the media person you'd sort of like a little bit of that because it just makes your job a little bit easier and maybe it makes your job a little bit more fun too Kirby Smart to his credit has sort of always found a way to enjoy that Kirby Smart at times is about as boring at media days as any coach could be and he sort of coaches his players to perhaps be about as boring as they could be there as well now we got an example yesterday of the fact that maybe boring not exactly the worst thing in the world when it comes to the alternative there on that this is a serious topic just for a moment olly Gordon you may be aware uh probably among the very best returning running backs in college football for the upcoming season he was also arrested on suspicion of DUI a little earlier in the off seon and he's not going to be suspended to begin the Year by his head coach Mike Gundy Oklahoma State well believe it or not Big 12 media days is happening yesterday started yesterday I don't know how many days it goes but uh but you know Gundy was there and speaking yesterday and in talking about why he is not going to suspend his star running back probably said something that sort of made him the main character on the internet a little bit yesterday in a way you kind of don't want your head coach to be of your favorite program or if you're an administrator the the coach you employ you sort of want you sort of don't want your coach going this viral for what he said even though Gundy now says he's been misinterpreted but maybe the words from Mike Gundy here in explaining why he's not suspending his star running back for his alleged DUI perhaps a little bit of an example why it's okay to be boring in an SEC media days or some event like that this is the Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy so I looked it up on my phone what would be the legal limit like in Oklahoma is .008 and oi was um 0.1 so I looked it up and it was based on body weight not to get into the legal side of it but I thought really two or three beers or four I'm not justifying what all he did I'm telling you what decision I made well I thought I probably done that a thousand times in my life and and I you know was just fine so I got lucky people get lucky all he made a um a decision that he wish he could have done better but when I talked to olle I told him I said you're lucky you got out light so obviously there's a serious conversation to be had here and and I frankly a lot of that stuff doesn't be said of course no one condones drinking and driving and of course there's a certain aspect of this that's sort of so self-evident you don't need to say it the part that I find interesting here right now is the fact that gundy's just sort of shooting from the hip here you know hey you know I've probably done that a thousand times and you know like it's just such a different type of thing not only different than what you would hear from Kirby Smart but different than what you would hear at SEC media days in general I think a lot of us sort of forget if we kind of only live in SEC world I don't think we realize how little like Media stuff goes on in Stillwater Oklahoma or Leck Texas or some of these like remote outposts that do have you know theoretically anyway major college programs but not quite the same obsessive level of coverage that we have here in the SEC so there's a certain vetting of SEC coaches that happens because they're being scrutinized by the media at all times always got microphones in their face face it's one of those things you either adapt or die you either learn how to say non stupid things or you don't last in the job and you know gundy's obviously been a pretty good coach I mean most gamblers will tell you that he's usually what is it they like to say plus EV uh when it comes to uh the spread you know he's pretty good coach relative expectations man you don't talk about a uh a rogue figure and like you know over the years there have been these rumors about maybe he take the Tennessee job or something like that can you imagine that look that uh you know for those of you who are watching the video that look you know that level of just Cavalier you know commentary can you imagine that in the SEC for like five seconds uh the Big 12 is a very different place it is it is a little bit more of you know the farther you get out west the more there's just everybody sort of got a story you a little bit of a a little bit of a a backstory uh perhaps Mike gunny an example of that and perhaps an example of hey if Georgia goes to SEC media days next week and just has sort of a boring week and you know flies back out from Dallas and gets back home maybe in this particular case boring is not such a bad thing and that is around the dogghouse presented today by our friends at Georgia Farm Bureau and obviously Georgia Farm Bureau understands a very important thing that there are some things in life that are just sort of unavoidable legally you got to have auto insurance for instance and so since you have to have it the next decision you make is well where do I get it well here's the other thing that Georgia farmer understands You' got a lot of choices for where you can get your auto insurance coverage so what do you kind of thought process do you go through in terms of choosing your auto insurance company well here's what I can tell I think you should do think about a company that's devoted to taking care of folks right here in your state I'm talking about friendly people who are living and working and playing and enjoying life in the state of Georgia just like you are big fans of the dogs big fans of local high school football big fans of our agricultural Community that's what Georgia Farm Bureau has been about for a long time they're supporting our Farmers they're supporting the people that put food on our tables and they are proud Georgians so when it comes time for you to make an auto insurance decision why not work with the friendly local folks of Georgia Farm Bureau for for all of your insurance needs not just auto insurance but you want home or health insurance or uh life insurance anything like that our folks at Georgia Farm Bureau can take care of you so I want you to give them a call it's 877 44150 87744 1050 you can also find them online gfb insurance.com gfb insurance.com Georgia Farm buau bringing around the dog house to us here today before we are done there is some Rumblings and grumblings that after all the crazy conference realignment stuff we've already seen we may have more on the way some of these rumors more believable than others but hey we'll dive face first into all of them before it's all said and done so that is to come but for now special Wednesday appearance but Timely in light of everything that's been going on with ug recruiting let's get ready to sayell to Jeff centel here today on dog Nation daily presented by BR P [Music] management from Athens and across the SEC or wherever the recruiting Trail may lead here's a dog.com Insider so we are getting Jeff Cel just mere hours before he delivers his own recruiting information as part of his show before the Hedge is presented by Kroger uh so we will uh get a little bit a foreshadowing a preview perhaps of Jeff Sentell joins the show what we'll have on a video later on this evening Jeff we certainly appreciate your time today a little bit of a surprise Wednesday appearance from you uh but we're always glad to have you especially in light of the fact that Georgia has been on quite a run as late when it comes to uh recruiting so what do you say we talk about some of that here right now hey Brandon man's great man last time I was talking to you on watching a football game watching football practice excuse me I'm getting a little ahead of myself and I'm doing the same right now I'm out at East Side High School watching Georgia linebacker Target chrisan gas work man Eric Stokes land itself man it's good to be on yeah it's uh great to have you here and I love all of that and speaking of Eric Stokes you know the Georgia defensive secondary has kind of been the news and from a recruiting standpoint the last few days you know if we're being honest I think we may have talked about this on Friday that that position group probably got off to a little bit of a slow start here at this class of 2025 by for whatever reason either because of the historic Hall that had come in the last couple of Cycles or the new look coaches with Dante Williams and travar Robinson whatever the reasons were uh certainly there's been a little bit of a change of course the last couple of days I guess let me start with this Jaylen Morgan coming out of the central part of Tennessee here seemingly a nice win for travares Robinson a four-star safety who I think is kind of drawing some Javon Bullard comparisons here right now what do you think that George is getting in Morgan here at the moment yeah but I think first of all let's let's uh share a little bit of news on your program I as of right now and these things are always subject to CH J Mo Jaylen Morgan will be a live Live guest on before the hedges tonight oh that's great you know he I think he first of all Brandon you're kind of spot on with Bullard I think he sounds a lot like Javon Bullard and man I remember talking to Javon when he was in high school on zooms and he to me always seemed like a guy that if he wanted to go into talking Headland or a podcast or a sports broadcasting he was already fit for it already very well respected in Baldwin but um you know Jaylen is a guy that I think plays if you want to get it right you better you better put some Chris Smith parallels in there to his game as well like he plays both sides of the ball Analytics had him on a uh the uh online service real analytics had him running around you know they measure the tape they got some fancy Georgia Tech stuff that measures your GPS by measuring the tape and he was over 2021 I think on the GPS with the ball in his hands and I think the thing that's really fascinating Brandon about Morgan is he kind of told me he had a timeline he always had a timeline and he was just kind of he wasn't so much like like let me put you in the in the in the mind of a recruit he had an offer from USC and was being recruited by Dante Williams he had an offer from Alabama and he was being recruited by travarus Robinson t- robob and then he just waited and he's like man I know I'm not getting any worse and eventually those guys will both be at Georgia they'll they'd like me and I'll get an offer and you know Brandon sometimes it's the it's the it's the names that kind of float below the radar Jaylen Morgan has been a priority for Geor since he was offered he was one of those under the radar names at the at the Georgia annual scavenger hunt back in May but he was there and you know they only bring priority guys to that event for the annual scavenger huntting of course he was obscured by bigger names like David Sanders Jr and the like but he was always there all the time and I I'll never forget Brandon the first time I spoke to Jaylen Morgan in May it was early may it was actually before the scavenger hunt I just got bird dogged and that was a guy that I needed to be talking to to cover it appropriately for dog nation and I got off the phone saying man if that's not a Georgia player I don't know who is because he said I'm not the strongest but I'm pretty strong I'm not the fastest but I'm pretty fast he said what makes me different is that I can look at film I can understand the game and I can play with instincts because I when you prepare me how to stop an offense and I know what an offense does well I'm able to play that fast on the field and that's what Kirby Smart told him Kirby Smart said you know a lot of people can run fast a lot of people can jump high a lot of people can hit hard but it's the mental side of your game that Georgia really likes I also thought that the flip from South Carolina by Georgia of Shamari ears I thought that was a really big deal kind of came Sunday in the evening there a little bit and obviously Georgia fans have gotten used to winning recruiting battles like this and maybe they don't think too much about you know kind of stuffing South Carolina a lot ER on something like that but nonetheless this is the kind of defensive back that just sort of feels like Georgia you love the height 6'2 but also when you kind of compare this to maybe other quarterbacks that georg's brought in recent years you this is a guy that's kind of coming in at 200 plus pounds and maybe some of the guys who've been here who at times you sort of wondered was that guy quite big enough to kind of get off blocks and maybe Jam guys to the line of scrimmage in the case of Earls at least theoretically that should not be a problem I think there's a lot to like about Shamari as a player anytime you kind of take a guy away from another sec School you like that you also beat back to defending national champions Michigan here uh it's a I think a first kind of big win for Dante Williams in a lot of respects there too I think there's a lot to like about what Georgia did bringing in Shamari ears well Brandon I know there's a there's this segment of your mind that still kind of likes this sort of stuffing guys in a locker SEC barroom recruiting balls brawls let's say something like that so did you notice man the day they flipped Shamari from from South they flipped Shamari from Virginia from Virginia from South Carolina to Georgia Georgia offered a South Carolina defensive line commitment out of Virginia the very same day like I was told that the South Carolina online chatter was like come on man please like they they just didn't take very kindly to Georgia flipping one and then setting their sights on another that very same day but with Shamari Brandon one of the things you look out there is the track background he's sub he's sub 11 in the 100 meters that's excellent but that long jump Brandon is around 24 feet that's kind of Malachi Starks long jump territory right there shows you the athlete he is and let me give you a little tease on a pet project I'm working on Brandon I remember something way back in the day uh I remember reading my my Sports Illustrated dilig diligently back in the day and there was a crazy forecast uh for the like 1995 or 199 something like that all pro team and like 1997 and they had a current Georgia Bulldog running back that was Rodney Hampton on the all pro team that was doc Dr Z if you remember that late great rider for SI but man I started thinking what can I do that with Georgia football and one of the things I'm I'm putting it together Brandon it might even show up on Hedges tonight is Brandon I'm looking at the 2026 season I'm looking at the projected Georgia defense for 2026 and to be honest Brandon to do that you got to look at current freshman uh and you've got to look at high school seniors right now to kind of that's just the way Georgia is right now half of the team or either first second maybe some red shirt 30-year players I'm looking at a future for the Georgia football team let's take a second here for dramatic effect I'm looking at a future where everyone on the defense is a top 10 player at their position or a five-star or a top 100 overall recruit think about that for a second BR think about the oodles and gobs of talent at linebacker at safety cornerback you got the KJ Boldin Chris Cole Justin Williams you've got Ellis Robinson the fourth Joseph Jonah joh and you would even even if you want to project a guy like justice Terry or Elijah Griffith on the on that defensive front Brandon you remember that comment from Mr Beamer coach Beamer a couple years ago when he was talking about all the five stars Georgia has on defense and how good they are yeah well that was a little bit hyperbole but the reality the crystal ball for 2026 says and you throw Shamari Earls in there as well there literally might be a five-star or a top five overall Prospect top 10 overall Prospect at the most everywhere on the two Jeep on the Georgia defense fascinating stuff Jeff I got more for you here coming up in a moment I also mentioned tonight you got before that is presented by Kroger expecting a great guest and Jaylen Morgan to be a part of the program and speaking of Kroger also a great place to go to pick up some Dr Pepper right now and a lot of you know that one of the things that's really been kind of the drink of the summer for us has been this Dr Pepper creamy coconut and Dr Pepper creamy coconut zero sugar how much fun is this it tastes like summer it's perfect for the pool or if you're heading towards the beach or anything like that it's a wonderful wonderful experience we kind of love the fact that now listen I'm also always one of the guys I sort of like the the original flavor and all that kind of thing I love my diet Dr Pepper drink that all the time but Dr Pepper also always looking to sort of expand its Horizons and get new folks interested and some really clever and creative new flavors there too and uh the example that hear right now is the Dr Pepper creamy coconut the Dr Pepper creamy coconut zero sugar so wherever you're doing you're shopping here right now make sure you pick some up and of course we love having Dr Pepper a part of what we're doing here at dog Nation daily there as well Jeff before we say goodbye to you and obviously you got a practice cover and there's some certainly some interesting I think storylines to be had when it comes to George the inside linebacker position fresh off like the Zaden Walker commitment and sort of looking at what might be next for George at the linebacker position I know you're presence there at East Side will kind of lead to a discussion about that eventually but we'll save that for another time in the time we have left you know we talked to John stinch about this a good bit on Monday the really intriguing prospect that Georgia just added to its class of 2024 when it comes to J Jackson obviously it's all inspiring size 6 foot1 maybe even taller than that uh 330 340 pounds whatever this is this is this is truly one of the largest athletes we'll ever discuss here athletic enough that he would have been a consideration of the NBA draft and now kind of trying his hand at football it seems like the wide range of possible outcomes here are about as wide as they could possibly get this is a guy that you've covered pretty extensively here what do you make of this very intriguing experiment that Georgia seems to be undertaking as it relates to Jackson yeah Brandon first of all I gotta I got to do some uh reporter up downs because our original reporting we tried to play it on the safe side we had we had big JW 6 feet 10 in and 330 lbs well the naysayers were naysaying they were right Brandon we got to call oursel out we got to do our reporter gassers or reporter burpees he's not 610 Brandon he's actually 6 feet 11 Ines so he was at we were actually a little lowball on the height and really I think you begin this the discussion Brandon with Ja jazer Jackson as you begin the discussion project or projected 2025 starter at offensive tackle I've heard terms Brandon I've heard terms dinosaur I've heard generational Talent the one thing that stands out is he is 6 feet 11 in 330 pounds he's going to be 84 feet 85 86 feet on the wingspan Brandon that is D Dynamic that is ginormous with a power g capital G right there and I'm told Brandon the whole thing you need to know about offensive lineman can they Bend how are their hands how do they move I'm told that it's the simple thing it's get into a three-point stance his trainer Kevin mcut told me and this is the line that my ear paid very close attention to he said he's six feet 11 inches and he bends and he plays like he's six feet two and that was a startling statement Run game we had a really good football guy discussion can you bull rush him right now is he tough there's a big difference between a tough and physical basketball player and a tough and physical football player I asked him all those questions and they say hey man Kevin told me he's trained a lot of guys he's currently working with Cortez Smith right now Big Time Georgia Target in 2025 who announces on July the 20th he told me he's like man he's got everything it takes he said in no Inc terms that he thought that unequivocally he could play be a pass protector and a plus pass protector in the SEC right now that's a 20 years of age and not playing football since he was in the eighth grade he said Run game he's got to work on but he said when he saw him this is what he went through as a trainer he's like man I gotta see what I'm what I'm about I've got a big piece of clay here I gotta see how good I am he said he's the type of player that will be a firstr draft pick after two years at Georgia he's the type of player that he sees contending in the ones and twos this fall at Georgia now that's a very big leap and he said he's the type of player that can make $200 million playing professional football an amazing conversation for sure and I I guess Jeff just as to close this out it's the kind of experimentation that Georgia would not be able to do if it wasn't always working so far ahead you know I'm saying like the 2024 class for the most part was sealed up many months prior to the December deadline you know they're well on their way to kind of uh having things wrapped up with 2025 class at the rate they're currently going in and because you're always working a couple of chapters ahead of the assigned homework you have a chance to then kind of get a little clever and creative with your leftover time and your leftover resources and so Georgia can go out here and you know kind of think big picture in Blue Sky about what a guy like this might be able to be whereas a lot of programs are just sort of desperate to find guys to play right at this moment you know Georgia clearly is never quite on a deadline like that so in my mind it gives them a chance to be a little bit more creative about what they want to do two things two things really stand out here number one Brandon you're going to do shows and weeks of shows Banks of shows next year about the turnover everywhere on the Georgia offense that's the offensive line that's the receiver spot that's all over that's the quarterback position of course I mean you'll get three weeks of content just about that Brandon but I'm going to tell you right now Georgia who already went so hard in the paint last year for offensive lineman they took six yeah that's the school goes at goes out and adds a sth which is the 6'1 330 lb guy if that is not an emphasis a tell this is what this is what we're all about at the University of Georgia I don't know what is and you're G to have so many faces Brandon think about it Xavier trust been around since 2019 Tate rattled 2020 mik Morris 2021 Dylan Fairchild 2021 Jared Wilson 2021 you're going to see so many guys take that professional step to shake Roger Goodell's hand or jump into that Sunday League that Georgia absolutely has to look to try to fit the 2025 offensive line right now with the mega recruiting it can and here's a very smart conversation we can have Brandon knowing the dollars and cents of it all is it smarter and better to get a guy like Ja Jackson into Athens right now get him a year of Georgia in let me use a verb there that you and know what that means and her audience knows what that means rather than chase a big ticket nil guy like the five-star David Sanders who you sit there and man Brandon I've heard stories about on his visit joh Jackson was hanging out with nier Daniels Tate rat did we lose Jeff all right well we may have lost Jeff we were kind of at the end of that there anyway which very interesting conversation and I know there'll be more of that coming tonight on before the hedg is presented by Kroger so if we hear back from Jeff let's tell him we thank him for his time we'll look forward to hearing him tonight and obviously fascinating to see where a guy like J Jackson goes next as far as where we go next let's get ready to go cruising around the SEC let's take a look around the rest of the League this is SEC through so Jeff kind enough to join us there from a practice where he's watching Christian gas and um obviously getting ready for his own show tonight before the Ed just person presented by Kroger so Jeff kind enough to join us there it's been a long time since we've done an audio only interview uh but Jeff kind of us kind enough to give his time over to us some very interesting thoughts on a couple of recruiting related topics as we said before you'll get more of that from him tonight on before the Hedge is presented by Kroger we've also got some interesting rumors that could have an impact in the SEC we'll tell you about that but first let's remind you that we're cruising around the SEC courtesy of Royal Caribbean and I tell you we're getting excited many of you know next week I do get a chance to be on board Utopia of the Seas and I really am looking forward to it you know they give me a hard time I was on with my friends on the radio yesterday on 929 the game Andy and Randy they giving me a hard time about going on another cruise but listen you know I I love it sort of the last Taste Of Summer for me before the uh actual season against and we're also doing kind of an interesting thing uh with my uh you know son the following week but this is kind of our last moments of Summer here before we get really deep in the actual season so why not take a moment to enjoy the best this brand new cruise ship from Royal Caribbean has to offer and obviously also a preview for what we'll all get a chance to experience together in April of 2025 you know Utopia of the Seas this newest oais class ship one of the reasons why right now I mean Royal gribbon is just red hot so much excitement out there about the new vessels they're putting out on the sea and you know especially when it comes to this one kind of like the biggest party at see you know the biggest weekend imaginable because you've got these you know three night sailings over the course of the weekend the four night sailing if you want kind of the shorter experience very convenient to get to right there at Pork and AAL kind of a very first ofit kind of experience where a brand new ship like this in this sort of special category of the Oasis class of ships being right there at Port canaval for those you know family vacations those three night four night type things just an incredible incredible experience with our dog Nation crew is going to be in April Jessica SL excuse me Jessica Slater can tell you all about it wonderful travel agent who plans all my cruise vac for me and obviously does all of that for us when it comes to our dog Nation Cruise you can give her a call 7778 9147 that's 7771 18 9147 you can also email her J Slater atream vacations.com for more on that so yesterday as we told you before was Big 12 media days uh and we heard the M Gundy thing that was obviously pretty weird Brett ymar is the Big 12 commissioner he also More conference realignment on the way? said some things got some attention there too one of the things that y Mark talked about was his desire that he's not going to rest until the Big 12 is the biggest conference in college football and there's an extent to which that some of that just sort of seems like Hollow rhetoric and the kind of thing almost like a campaign speech it's type of thing that it's got so much puffery built into it it's not necessarily meant to be taken seriously but if you look at some of the reporting that's out there right now there is perhaps some belief that your mark behind the scenes may have a little bit more going on than you perhaps might think that uh you know a Big 12 Conference might have for itself right now because as it stands right now the Big 12 of the four power leagues is clearly the weakest now it's maybe among the more interesting leagues because like the top team may not be a championship Contender not an elite recruiting team but the balance in the league to the point where almost anybody could win the league that's actually probably pretty pretty fascinating but there's a lot of belief here that the Big 12 might be looking to wheel and deal a little bit and perhaps try to take advantage of the obvious weakness of the ACC right now Ross Del Andrew seemingly always you know kind of on top of this about as much as anybody is had a really interesting story for his website Yahoo sports uh yesterday on what Brett ymar is uh trying to do and one of the things that uh has been talked about we've addressed the idea of the big Capital investments into college sports and one of the leagues that's you're really trying to play that game is the Big 12 so much so that they may give naming rights of their league away in exchange for money I going to read here just a couple of sentences from Ross delr Yahoo that the Big 12 is exploring and naming rights deal with all state and is examining Capital Investments through private Equity Firs yourm Mark is pushing the NCAA to permit his conference to add corporate patches the uniforms of the officials that could generate millions in sponsorship deals he's got plans take women's soccer and baseball to Mexico for international competition so you know he kind of thinks of himself as a disruptor and you know basically one of the disruptions uh that's out there is the fact that uh they may be looking to poach from the ACC and obviously specifically the uh the the programs are being mentioned here are the likes of Florida State and Clemson so because of the new money coming into the league that if if they do get some of these corporate sponsorship and private Equity deals they're hoping to put together that may give them the financial resources to play with to become a player for Clemson and Florida State you know almost said if they leave but at this point in time it sort of seems more like a when they leave the ACC do you remember the other day the story we talked about where allegedly Clemson simply rejected the idea of playing its rivalry game against South Carolina on Black Friday you know kind of basically thumbing its nose at the TV partner ESPN and uh very much uh uh angering the ACC in the process it's the kind of thing that you probably would not do as a as a program unless you were pretty sure you about to be out of this league it's sort of like the senioritis that you may have had when you were in high school of listen I don't care what y'all want me to do we're doing what we want to do here right now sort of seems like Clemson did that perhaps thinking they're going to be out of this league sooner rather than later anyway and you know it's kind of always been assumed well because of their southern ties and the fact that they already kind of sort of feel like SEC programs at least to a certain extent that Clemson and Florida State would come to the SEC but the point we've kind of made before a little bit is is that if all of this is about money it's not obvious the SEC would make more money by bringing in Clemson and Florida State because technically speaking the SEC isn't making more money per school by bringing in Texas and Oklahoma and they clearly have added value but in terms of the deal that the SEC got all they got from their media rights deal was sort of a pro-rated fee that basically added a 15th and 16th member but not a premium fee uh on the medeor rights deal for bringing in kind of blue blooded programs like Oklahoma and Texas and because South Carolina and Clemson are in states that are already sort of saturated with SEC fans once again it's not obvious that there's a financial gain by adding Florida State or Clemson to the SEC so where do they go if they don't have an obvious home in the SEC and they might not have an obvious home in the SEC some have assumed the Big 10 um but this big 12 Play I think you got to take this a little bit seriously and can we play this out for one second if you think about this as the sort of strategic game like you ever play Risk with your kids or maybe you play Risk when you were a kid or maybe you still are a kid you like Risk right now whatever you ever play the game Risk think about this like a game of Risk for a moment where you're looking at the board and you're trying to strategize I think you can make a case that the best situation for the SEC if we assume that Clemson and Florida State are leaving the ACC we assume that's the case I think you can make a case the best situation for the SEC would be for them to join the Big 12 joining the SEC sort of waters down the financial you know pie uh you don't necessarily benefit from that but at the same time you don't want them going to the big 10 because Big 10 sort of already has this aspiration of sort of being a national league the one thing they're missing is that presence in the South um I do think the SEC would be hurt a little bit if the Big 10 did encroach on our territory down here and bringing in a Florida State bringing in a Clemson or a North Carolina because there's also the academic thing of you know the sort of uh uh you know pretentious Big 10 folks only want prestigious academics schools and so therefore they might be more interested in North Carolina Virginia programs like that anyway if you take that part of this seriously maybe that's the case but either way the Big 10 getting its tentacles into the South I think is a little bit of a problem for the SEC but Clemson Florida State going to the big 12 if that were to happen because the Big 12 now has the capital investment that gives them a chance to sort of make up for some of the revenue losses from the lack of a great TV contract that sort of restores some some of the balance to college football that was to the sec's benefit in the sort of early days of the college football playoff and the final days of the BCS I mean you can make a case that relative to the rest of the sport the SEC was in a stronger position before it added Texas and Oklahoma back when there were five power five leagues the difference between the SEC and the next best league was a vast Chasm but now in the more Consolidated world of College athletics we often hear the SEC and the Big 10 mention in the same sentence together uh the Big 10 actually has the larger media rights deal it's the larger conference overall by adding four schools from out west that in the sort of strategic game of Risk that's gone on here with conference realignment I think the sec's position in the boardrooms not on the field they're still the best conference on the field but in the board rooms I think the sec's position has been weakened by some of the conference realignment that has gone on but Texas I should say but uh Florida State and Clemson going to the big 12 might restore some of the balance that sort of always seems to benefit the SEC that's my crackpot Theory anyway I'll also mention this real quick in closing there's also the rumor that won't quite die and I think this is probably a rumor I don't think there's anything real to this there are plenty of people out there that will say the Texas A&M is really really angry about Tex being in the SEC and when it was announced do you remember media Days A couple of years ago we first found out you know that Texas and Oklahoma are coming to the SEC it was the sort of surprise news nugget that sort of dropped right in the middle of the event I think one of the worst kept secrets in college athletics is it was Texas A&M that elied that story as a way of trying to harm its hated Fox Texas and there are some people out there that believe that Texas A&M if it could find its way into the Big 10 and leave the SEC something we've not really seen anybody do what like swanie swanie and George tag I guess left the SEC back in the 60s is that right uh we haven't seen that since then that if texanum could leave the SEC you would like to now at this point time that is a rumor I for the most part probably don't think that's true but it's just sort of interesting how that rumor never really dies so perhaps that's worth paying attention to there as well and we'll make that cruising around the SEC courtesy of Royal Caribbean now before we wrap up here today I want to give a great shout out here for a moment to our friends that discovered Dunwoody because speaking of Clemson you know Georgia's got a big game coming up against Clemson to kick off the 2024 season which we're really excited about and we've been telling about dog Nation Invasion stuff like that but also we're actually going to do a big event we'll eventually tell you more about this with our friends from discover Dunwoody because if you want a great place to stay before a game like that we think the Dunwoody area right here where we're located uh uh very very near our dog Nation World Headquarters Studios is a great place for you to go for your hotel accommodations if you want a great weekend that includes couple of you know hundred restaurants to choose from hundreds of shopping experiences there's like thousands of hotel rooms so therefore you're going to be able to find I think a really you know affordable price on a really nice hotel room it's sort of outside the hustle and bustle of like say Buckhead or Midtown or downtown you kind of want to avoid some of that and a kind of a nice safe family and friendly environment that's what the Dunwoody area is all about we love it I love the restaurants here I love you know going shopping here just kind of just I I just love this community and we think when you're thinking about an Atlanta trip either for a football game to kickoff the season or keep in mind George has the potential playing four games and Mercedes-Benz Stadium here this year we think that Dunwoody the Dunwoody area is a great option for you for a hotel for any of those games because of the you know conveniently located within a couple of different Mar stations uh you know many of those sort of walking distance from the hotels couple under restaurants shopping experience all kind of stuff like that we think that's what discover Dunwoody is all about so I want you go to discoverd dunwitty dcom to check out rates and kind of find your hotel room and all that also see this I was on uh the Discover Dy podcast the other day with my good friend Mark Galvin and I think it's going to drop at some point time beginning the month of August whatever else and I I did this for a golden shoe the other day I'll show this to you again how about the fact they gave me a Yeti cup uh for which is nice discover Dy branding here on the front VIP video guest on the back yeah there you go little closeup on that uh how about this from our friends at Discover Dy makes me feel bad because I never give our guests anything for being on the show uh but they gave me a Yeti uh for being on the show it's got a great discover D branding on all that so Mark's a great guy uh really good stuff so I wanted to give a shout out there for that and remind you check out discovery.com if you're looking for a hotel and a great weekend experience kind of outside the hustle and bustle of sort of like the in town part of Atlanta that's fun and familyfriendly and safe and just really really enjoyable uh discover DW's got you covered on all of that so find out more online it's discoverd dun woody. comom today so uh we may play the clip of this for you eventually at some point in time but today we're just going to kind of give you uh the evidence that it exist so uh Tim Brando y'all know who that is uh longtime broadcaster former presence on CBS really a big part of the SEC on TV for a long time well he was on the show do youall know what Crane and Company is it's a sports show uh I guess Jake crane big SEC fans they do a lot of college B stuff I reckon uh and Tim Brando was on that show and Tim is sort of going off on Florida let me show you this as far as our golden shoe winner today so Tim brand who to be honest with Golden Shoe you is a little cranky at this stage of his career if you ever see him in an interview uh but in this particular case we think he's on the side of the Angels saying that Florida's fan base is toxic talk about the anger they have about the current status of Billy nap and everything else listen Brando may be a little bit of a cranky dude but if he thinks the Florida fan base is toxic he's at least right about that so we'll give him a golden shoe for that and Gator Hater remind you that when it comes to lousy stinking Gators been a long time since they beat in Georgia maybe that's why they're so toxic 1341 days that is our Gator hater updator you have a great day we'll look forward to seeing you back here tomorrow dog Nation daily presented by braa P management we'll look forward R.S. Andrews 'Cool Down' to talking to you then everybody and on video time now for the RS Andrew cool down RS Andrews the one you turn to for your air conditioning heating Plumbing electric needs they show up on time they do the work that's promised the price that's promised you can trust them on all of that I was a little late in uh starting my 1 and 15 this morning so I'm going to start at Dog nation.com for our RS Android school down here today let's see what else um I talked earlier about the fact that we don't s for Instagram models and I think some of the people in here are in our dogd comment section are sing for Instagram model so there you go there on that uh let me let me see what else is going on let me go to YouTube Here For a Moment speaking of online simps let's see what else J shs has been 312 hours since starting on YouTube I don't know about that I don't know uh uh Jonathan eron says uh yesterday I started I sound like the old man saying back in uh my day we're talking about 1989 what a great year 1989 was everybody's got their version of that though even if you're younger than me uh you've got your version of that of like just a year that just sort of seemed like a great year like just the complete absence of responsibility like how much fun is that how much fun is that um and like I mean I I I do agree with Jonathan that like Nostalgia can be a little bit of a trap to fall into and one of the things I try to remind myself of is when I get too nostalgic for like some sort of Carefree time in life one of the things I try remind myself of is there will be a time sometime in the future where I'm nostalgic for this moment uh this will seem Carefree compared to some moment in the future I guess and so from that standpoint that's probably pretty good way to kind of battle uh the the sort of typical feelings of um of nostalgia but um but yeah there you go um Frank Batterson says you got to remember it's different when it comes to Mike gunny because he's a man I was doing a radio interview this morning the host said it's been 16 years since the I'm I'm a man I'm 40 it's just amazing how quick time goes by um and I'm not necessarily anti Mike Gundy um I mean I don't want to get get too much into what he said yesterday but um there's definitely just sort of a weirdness that gets tolerated in some of these Backwater outposts um Andrew Hugh says NCAA 25 released the Ultimate Team yesterday and Brock Bowers is on it that's great to hear you love that you know I think that one of the cool things about Bowers over the course of the 2023 season was and perhaps a little bit different than 2021 and 2022 was and we talked about this on the show during the time there was no doubt that Bowers eventually started getting the credit he deserved as an all-time great player you know we've gotten plenty wrong over the years but this is one we nailed we nailed this from the word go that in 2021 when Bowers was putting up these record setting numbers huge touchdown total for instance we were talking in that moment about Bowers being on his way being one of the all-time greats that we just had a sense that this was because of the just how prolific the stat line was completely uh um almost unlike anything we'd seen before that you know you can make a long list of stuff we've gotten wrong but we got this one right we recognize the historic status of Bowers as a player pretty early in his career um let's see what else Paul Moon says the people were talking about Bowers the spring and summer before his freshman year not in the same kind of way though I mean every Georgia recruit is always touted like every so you can go back and find ah this is the you know this is gonna be the greatest player of all time they're doing that with John Jackson right now uh Le some people are and uh it's like every guy that comes into Georgia is GNA have somebody somewhere saying boy wait till you see this guy uh Bowers was clearly getting some of that but um mean I think in the midst of a record setting season as a freshman I still don't think balers was getting enough attention and and and credit for what he was doing that uh there was a misunderstanding of just how great he was um all right we got top 10 players released now um all right so Malachi Starks and Tate rattled getting a 95 both in the top 10 here for the EA Sports video game so there you go uh good for Malachi Stars we we may talk more and Tate R too of course we may talk more about Malachi um uh this week because I think there's been some other stuff out there on him right now so you love to see that from Maliki Stars that's really good um Lance D says Brock Bowers was quote Georgia good so there yeah there you go there on that that's true uh Taylor Russell says the Bowers was showcasing ing his ability when the first quarter of the first game yeah to me if you ever did like a you know like a 30 for 30 type thing on Georgia I think one of the things that would be interesting is what led Georgia to Target Bowers so much in his very first game because I do think that was even though he was an elite recruit and obviously we eventually recognized that this was a really special player I don't know that many people would have gone into first game against Clemson saying that Bow's going to be targeted like nine times or 11 whatever it was a Hu huge so far more than anybody else in the game that you that you only do that if you really believe man this guy is truly special like what happened in that in those months leading up at the start of the season to say in a game that we sort of have to win that there's a lot of pressure on us to win we're going to kind of build the offensive game plan around Brock Bowers I I would love to kind of hear some real stories about you know what that was all right we do have the full top 10 we'll show it to you on the screen here right now so so so will Johnson from Michigan is number one uh Will Campbell the uh left tackle M shoot number two olly Gordon after mentioned uh number three James Pierce at number four four Caleb DS fifth Travis Hunter sixth Malachi Starks is seventh Mason Graham is e quinon Judkins is nine and Tate rattled is 10 so you know there's no quarterbacks in here that's kind of I mean I don't know like I'm not a v yeah yeah good point uh Cody points out four these 10 are uh Georgia high school football products which is interesting but um I I'm not a huge video game guy you know when you look at the overall like team ratings the fact that Colorado for instance made the top 20 pretty clearly EA Sports wants to put their thumb on the scale for the purpose of making it interesting this is about and I'm I'm not disputing the quality of these players this is not a very interesting list right it's a cornerback and a left tackle and a you know a couple of safeties you know a defensive lineman uh I love the fact they call quinon Judkins a half back as this was 1964 that's kind of funny um this is not a this is not maximized for like SEO right this is that's a little bit of a I don't know I mean maybe it just sort of speaks to their attempt to try to be as accurate as they possibly can be um but it's kind that's not the most like intriguing list in the world right you don't see quarterbacks on there you don't really see a lot of you know who should have been number one will Johnson or Will Campbell which will should have been number one like that's not exactly a made for First Take style debate uh so interesting that EA Sports kind of goes against the sort of big bold print headline type stuff for its top 10 overall players couple of other EA sports related notes Here For a Moment did y'all see where uh I me probably should have mentioned this during the Regular Show so Arch Manning after officially sort of opting out of the game we said at the time you know there are some players that just have added value that for most college players a few hundred in a free copy of the game is a is you know fairly um you know uh Equitable recompense for you know their participation in the game for someone like Manning he's just got added value and so it probably made sense for him to hold out well now I guess he's allegedly been paid you know a sixf figure sum to now do an ad for the game he and Eli Manning teaming up for a a commercial there on that so Manning now will be in the game and getting some you know seemingly decent nil deal in the process and all of that also I've been kind of wondering this who do you think is going to have the edge in playing this game because you know coming up pretty soon you're going to have a real Clash of generations you're going to have a bunch of older folks who were college football video game experts back when the game was played but a lot of these folks haven't played a game since then you know they wouldn't know what like Red Dead Redemption or uh you know whatever the game like they they haven't been playing all that kind of stuff um uh although I guess there is a new Grand Theft Auto game coming out too so perhaps they've played that uh but the point is like you're don't have a lot of guys who have experienc playing the college football video game but they haven't played any games in the last 10 years on the flip side of that you got an entire generation of young folks who've never really played the college game but they've been playing Madden a lot over the course of the last 10 years kind of honing those skills and you kind of Wonder like who's going to have the edge here the the veteran kind of coming back to the sport um after being away from it for a while or the young folks who've been kind of playing the Madden game and I guess how different is Madden and the college game going to be here six players in the top 100 we are being told for EA Sports here so uh that's good let's see if we can guess here uh Mel Malachi rattled I'm assuming Carson uh uh Ernest Green did he not good for fair child that's awesome for that's awesome for Dylan facha uh 48th best player in college football that's good for we talk about West for side to go back to uh Cody's Point uh about Georgia high school football representing how about two former West fory Wolverines making the top 100 for college football players so overall uh good job for them on that that's that's pretty awesome stuff yeah so yeah so Oscar Delp the other one who can came in there at number 99 so uh very very uh good stuff by the way to give you an idea of the overall depth of Georgia so you got a guy in Fairchild who's one of the 50 best players in the sport according to EA Sports and he's also battling out to start at Georgia right now because of Micah Morris who perhaps deserve to be on this list too Andrew Hughes says the Madden game will be completely different so uh perhaps that's the case um oh let's see what else J sh says my hearing aid is on 10 does that mean that you could hear that coming through the um this is one of this is one of those things you got if you ever like you know listen to radio sometimes you can hear that it's like so if you heard that you're hearing it coming out of my uh what you call them headphones into the microphone which is why you got to be careful about what you say uh sometimes of course around here we you know we keep it professional but if you say the wrong thing and can always you can't always be sure that go out over the air um I I try not to turn my headphones up too loud because I don't want to be de but maybe they are loud I don't know um Frank Batterson said who had the better uh freshman game against Clemson chub or Bowers but maybe my memories failing chub's big games didn't come until midpoint of the season when uh Gurley got suspended right I mean chub chub's big games were like Arkansas and Missouri of that year am I am I wrong about that maybe I'm maybe I'm remembering wrong cleanup Duty in that okay so all right so yeah uh Cody was saying he ran over some guys in cleanup Duty in that game that year um I only vaguely remember that uh this is actually on the air okay as far as old radio people go you're not as deaf as most of them so congratulations well that's good I'm trying not to be that that's that's Jay by the way yeah I really want to hold on to my hearing uh because that's one of those things where I I do like to hear my voice when I speak maybe that makes me an ecomaniac but it's comforting to me to know I'm if I if if I can hear myself it makes me believe that we're probably on the air and if I can't hear myself I guess I don't also have a tendency to talk too fast and so sometimes hearing my voice for whatever reason slows me down a little bit we all have things we're trying to overcome and my tendency to speak a little too fast is my thing I'm trying to overcome and for whatever reason hearing my voice kind of allows me to do that a little bit so uh there you go uh Derek vanover says yeah he had a Breakout game against Clemson for some reason I don't have a great memory of I remember that game but don't have a great memory of that overall uh let's see what else uh Ed edw atw said my grandson loved Grand Theft Auto he was F this and f that yeah I would say that Grand Theft Auto definitely definitely probably introduced some bad habits uh to some of the folks who played it and I am right about this there's a new Grand Theft Auto game coming out right um uh let's see on Facebook Lucy Bowers boy good to see you in here today uh let's see what else let's see what else is going on here uh Zack Adam says the high State working Caleb Downs out as a running back is hilarious please give him the ball uh against georg's defense yeah me listen I loved Caleb as an offensive player obviously playing you know at mil Creek on a state championship teame but it goes without saying doing that even at Georgia high school football level very different than doing that the major college level and you know is DS capable of being a two-way star perhaps he might be but that overall message seems in congruent with this idea that oh my gosh Ohio State is this super team and it's unlike anything we've ever seen in college football before and Ryan day and Chip Kelly are about to re uh you know kind of redefine what it means to be offensive like we hear all this like crazy over the toop stuff and I guess I would be led to believe that if that's really true you know a gimmick like this related to um Caleb DS just doesn't really seem in keeping with that and if you really really feel good about you know Henderson coming back and quenon jins coming over and whatever you think you have in will Howard it's like do you really need Caleb DS on offense to and if you don't if this is just you know what you had to do to get him you know it's like hey we'll play on offense too then I don't know maybe this is just you know you know me being a hater or whatever but just seems like there's certain things going on at Ohio State the uncertainty at quarter back the sort of weird gimmicky thing related to Downs to me that just doesn't really seem in keeping with this team is about to be the best we've ever seen some of that stuff just doesn't seem to quite match up together but we were also mocking some of that talk about Michigan a year ago and one way or another they did win the national championship so we've been wrong before uh let us see what else are we're going to wrap it up here in just a minute back on dog nation.com there you go how about Cody Chaffin so you see chub right here this is this is Clemson uh so uh Cody's reminiscing about this game comes well earned because he's right there Cody's a terrific uh is is it a is it a videographer is that what we call someone who is that what we call that uh yeah you can call me cameraman cameraman okay so just just a simple cameraman don't make it fancier than it is uh but Cody is now I don't just say this uh Cody's terrific when it comes to the camera a lot of the video stuff we're showing on our show last few months have been stuff that Cody sha that's a real talent uh that he has and you see him right there earning those chops with Nick chub there uh in his freshman fun had a 47 yard touchdown late in that game so fun night that night I remember that atmosphere very well just just a sort of a cool it's fun to play Clemson because reminds me of being a kid and you know obviously you know this is kind of pre Clemson becoming the fixture in the col ball playoff and really an interesting decision by Dabo that night not to start DeShaun Watson Watson comes in Off the Bench throws a touchdown early so this is kind of back I guess before Clemson kind of became the fixture in the college football playoff that would later become and obviously chub you know it's like chub in 2014 from a statline standpoint had about as good a year as any non-h hersel running back has ever had a Georgia and so obviously it had to be more than just those middle portion of the season games so the uh touchdown there against uh Clemson they're a part of that Cody that's good stuff thank you very much um Kent hul shutting out some baseball stuff in here that's good that's good you love that as the Braves are now at least for now going into the All-Star break playing a better brand of baseball so we'll see all right um K dog on the subject of suits with sneakers and like I really do try not to be the old man on the porch because you know nobody wants to hear that but I have to say like I am so anti suit and sneaker I am like and I I just know that's like the least cool thing you can ever say I've said this before I've given up on trying to be cool um I am so anti suit and sneaker I just don't think it looks good I just don't think it looks good uh and the coaches all do it it's like and and I don't want to be like the fashion police here my biggest issue with the suit and the sneaker is the fact that the pants sort of like Bunch up down there near the sneaker and that does not look good that does not look good even even if you're like super into sneakers and things like that your dress pants bunching up down there near the sneaker just does not look good I mean if you're going to do that you need to wear tapered you know pants at the angle uh so this is one of those deals where like I probably very much play according to type in that um I do favor traditional dress shoes with suits I do I do but my guess is we'll see a lot more of that again next week or perhaps not yeah there you go I mean that does not look good uh what a what a dork Billy uh Dan Mullen is in general but this idea of hey look at me I'm a I'm a like there's nothing that says I'm not a regular Dad I'm a cool dad there is nothing that says that more so than I'm just going to casually prop up my feet here on this table oh did you happen to notice I'm wearing sneakers with a suit because I'm I'm not a regular Dad I'm a cool dad um that that is not a good look and he's the guy that probably started this back at Mississippi State now a lot of coaches wear sneakers with their snoots with their suits a lot of players of course do that too here's my prediction all Trends sort of fade eventually my guess is you'll still have some tryhard coaches wearing sneakers at SEC media days my pred I is the Players won't my prediction is the Players Veer back in the direction of traditional Footwear see if I'm not right about this um try hard coaches will still be out there you know holding on to a decade ago strand players themselves I bet we see I bet we see a return to to traditional Footwear from them if I had to predict I'm guessing that's probably what they're doing because a lot of these guys probably getting dressed by somebody now anyway and so I'm guessing that's probably what we it just looks better it just does it just looks uh uh yeah that's right yeah um uh what kind of shoes uh Jay mentioned the fact that he's not wearing was were those not the Jordans like some sort of heinous orange and blue version of the Jordans was that not what that was because that's seemingly the only thing that Florida has yeah they're Jordans yeah the only thing that Florida has going for it is the fact that it has you know I guess some sort of loose loose relationship with the Jordan brand uh so yeah there you go there on that all right anything else we're going to get ready to go here in a minute uh uh all right we're gonna get ready to go I think we're I think we're kind of going off the tracks here we got people talking about rock music in the uh comment section people talking about me cutting the grass which if
