[Music] a hurricane warning is in [Music] effect currently in our area 76° with rain and windy conditions [Music] tonight rain and wind low 71 rainfall around a/ an inch Thursday overcast slight chance of a rain shower High 84 Thursday night a few clouds low 66 here's our 7-Day Outlook this hurricane season good Heavens absolute punishment every second counts you don't want to be on an interstate with heavy tropical downpours America's most trusted News network is putting your Safety First with minute by minute coverage keeping you ahead of the storm this is a dangerous hurric receive instant information from our team of meteorologists and landfall cams that bring you every angle on our tvf this hurricane season protecting America only on the Weather Channel welcome back to our continuing coverage of hurricane Francine which is now a category one storm again with Max winds at 90 mes per hour you're taking a look at a live view here from John humph and we are seeing a lot of high water in these areas near the Louisiana Co Coastline there you can see cadry uh Louisiana and that water uh likely getting into the first floor of that building there and I would say that's probably the situation right here uh as well so that storm surge is coming in um the good thing about this is that high tide for the most part isn't coming in until the early overnight hour so we're closer to low tide than we are high tide hopefully that will keep some of this water um just a little bit lower but conditions are deteriorating further Inland now and that includes a place like New Orleans we've had wind gusts between 50 and nearly 60 miles hour there now and this is going to be going on for several hours as the sun is going down which always you know kind of makes my skin crawl a little bit our meteorologist Paul goodlow is live in New Orleans now I always feel like there's so many noises that you hear as these winds come in and it feels a little bit more you know a little scarier maybe a little more unknown and Paul looks like you're getting whipped a bit there yourself yeah Jackie it's all about location location location buying land and real estate as well as riding out hurricanes here that's why we choose Canal Street so we're not next to Lake Pon Trin and where we could be kind of done in by storm surge we generally know there's a lot of Wide Open Spaces this is like the widest Street that's not an interstate here in New Orleans here so we can generally see what's coming our way most things have been put away because again this city is no stranger to hurricane in fact know what that was piece of leaf or something that came by so that's my biggest threat up wind is these small shrubs here that I can that's why I'm looking this way the wind is brutal in the face but it's just the safest thing to ride these things out we're definitely concerned with the the rain as well the good news Jackie yeah the winds have increased but as of now the rainfall rates haven't been greater than maybe at the most a half inch or so an hour last hour is only maybe 2/10 of an inch that's manageable we can get through that in terms of the pumps here but we also have this wind concern which can bring it has been bringing more power alergies here across New Orleans and even Orleans par
