down see if it's working well hello everybody Welcome to exciting football game we've got here at uh Franklin Community High School I'm Mike Leonard along with Ken Sears my good buddy Ken how you doing tonight doing great beautiful night little warm but getting ready for the kickoff Here Mount Vernon won the toss and elected to defer so Franklin's going to go from our right to left uh on the kick don't think they'll kick it to ERS [Applause] but nice return out to the 29 by Franklin Landy Franklin and blue obviously home blue and the Marauders in visiting white first and 10 on the 30 Kenny being that it is warm it is uh it's going to be a game of conditioning that's for sure and uh we'll see who who's got it uh I think athletic trainers are going to be a big part of this night you know we'll see some cramps I'm sure by the end of the night' already got a stop in the action before we run our first play we're talking to the officials Grayson Betts at quarterback for the grizzly Cubs at Junior going to lead him out of the shotgun here tonight one of the big threats you had already mentioned is Al Al lugers number 28 he's in he's in the back field right now along with with another young man and three wide receivers not sure about the delay but you know what a good crowd student body is here in force they're all dressed up and it appears to be Beach attire see that later but here we go first snap of the game shotgun hand off to Isaiah staltz I believe number 26 picks up a one yard maybe so we're going to go second and nine uh pretty good job I didn't see who made the tackle there we'll have to watch that a little closer as we get used to calling these games yeah going to take a little while for that Ken but we welcome both audiences welcome to the visiting Marauders that are watching and uh always good to be with the grizzly Cub faithful here Bets with a little swing pass out to the right staltz again picks up about seven he going to bring up third and two uh nice little play get things loosened up a little bit for the uh Cubs staltz comes off bets in the Huddle see what they've got here on the very first third down of the game third down and two to Kenny I know what you'd be doing in your old offense at Whitland High School you're going to be running the football we'll see what see what coach call has here we go they got six guys on the line and push good Push by the by Alex Luger to get the first down by about a yard brought it out to the 41 yd line uh where it'll be first and 10 so that won't be the last time Alex carries it uh down in New Albany last week he carried it 13 times for 24 4 yards and three touchdowns so that's a pretty good night nice little start it's always good to get that first first down of the game Ken give your your team a little shot in the arm momentum wise nice Cut nice Cut shakes a tackle straight arms one goes out of bounds right in front of the new Mount Vernon's bench looks like he got to about the 47 yd line we'll call it second five good look at lugers here okay just a good good strong back and you notice they're running behind uh a lot behind Right Guard number 50 named Blake Smith one of the leading leading linemen on both sides of the ball for the grizzly Cubs nice accurate pass there by Betts out to Braden bondsteel nice catch and run picks up another first down so nice start for the grizzly Cubs the mount ver just kind of hanging back not doing anything fancy I haven't seen a big Blitz or you got a lot of guys on the line of scrimmage probably trying to stop uh Alec lugers I'm liking their tempo right now they're in and out of the Huddle real quick you know second game of the season there's supposed to be some improvement from week one to week two as coaches always say oh my that was that was a nice move and just in the nick of time that handoff got made Alex Luger's on the carry another nice run looks like picked up about seven that time maybe eight let's go with eight so slow and methodical nice drive it's taken up only three minutes so far but uh Kenny second short I know what I'd like to do here I'd like to take a little shot take a shot maybe to cuz you're almost in four down territory anyway we'll see what they do hey that's it's it's never a bad thing to give the ball to 28 oh oh get tripped up by number 17 uh Caleb Ashley for the Marauders a nice play out on the edge um so brings up a little tougher maybe we should have took a shot there five it's always easy to second guess from up here Ken you ever notice that you know this is easy absolutely I know when I was coaching for you if they don't get this I wouldn't have to tell you you might think about punting because they'll go for it just like you did but uh we'll we'll see what happens here I I still think we're going to maybe bets to keep it this time looks like we got open Receiver right there oh through his hand little high but through his hands and almost picked off by number six for the maros let's see who great great decision by Grayson that slot receiver was was uncovered totally and it it uh just a little bit High got away from him but it's fourth down and five here we go looks like they're going for it although lugers can punt the ball I believe uh Betts is also their punter but so maybe we'll get a little squib kick or maybe we'll go for it got a pressure defense here by Mount Vernon bringing some heat go for it got a comeback route deep comeback and did he get that foot down no no they're saying he was out kind of well I'd like to see that if we get another shot at that looked like his right foot might have got down but maybe not it really did from here it it it looked like we don't have the best angle from 75 yards away but but by goly it looked good from I got new glass so I thought I saw that we're starting to sound like some of the parents in the stands usually that he was in yeah but uh what a what a beautiful night here and uh the broers are taking over they got sophomore quarterback Mason Meyer number five y struggled a little bit last week he was 6 for 14 for 42 yards oh nice play number four for the Cubs came up hard uh who is that Colin Owens number four at the corner nice tackle on the edge you know the big threat for the Marauders of Mount Vernon is number 30 Jala Brogan uh just a fine back and talking to the coaching staff just just a great leader on this team there he goes right now and uh he's a threat to go for couple hundred yards they're going to give it to him a lot tonight so that's got to be the game plan for the grizzly Cubs is find a way to stop Brogan his father great running back at Franklin College good to see him in the far stands supporting the team supporting his son enjoyed coaching father Jala Brogan four four wide receivers for Mason but oh got Franklin to jump on a little clap action looks like uh our defensive end might have jumped and you know you got to be alert of that on third down and four and a half you've got to be expecting the hard count and give it up to the Marauders they did a great job of executing it nobody jumped on offense but Grizzly Cubs got to be more disciplined here we go first and 10 from the minus 49 really nice these new graphics that Franklin High School has with the score and the time on there so we don't have to yell every time to tell you what the scores are another run by Brogan or um I'm sorry it might have been yep it was yeah he's going to get it a lot number 30 now you're talking about equipment and Graphics Ken I know that uh director Kevin henkins here done a great job with all this equipment we've got several camera students running running this and they're getting some awesome experience with with this type of work and Communications pressure by Blake Smith throws it to nobody was he outside the pocket I guess they're going to call him outside the pocket when in doubt they'll give it an incomplete as opposed to a penalty so that brings up a third down and six H that's coach Leonard he was a passing coach I thought it was we'll we'll give him that one brings up third see what the what the Cubs have see if they bring somebody here put a little pressure still got to watch number 30 at all times and sure enough they're going to give it to him oh nice defense nice play number 50 the name you'll hear a few times tonight Blake with the final tackle couple other people in there 55 I think was in there you decision decision here now from the 44 looks like they're going to go obviously they're not going to kick the field goal but you know they they might do some kind of Pooch punt here with the offensive quarterback you just never know Franklin keeps the normal defense in the field he's a sophomore they are they're playing safe here and he's going to throw it oh and he's wide open on the post but great great defense there by number 10 Colin Owens again he's made a couple nice plays already Ken yep he's jumped over there uh R to play Brandon uh well that was uh Landon basy wasn't it number 10 you might be right I'm I'm I'm new and learning names still here as we go too so we've got a couple non punts something coach coach Leonard used to love not doing so trying to think where did Colin Owens number four correct Ken that was that was number 10 made a really nice play landed basy if you happen to be family of the of Landon forgive me for that so they're taking their first water break looks like both sides are going to get some water before we start uh the grizzly Cub second Drive 536 to go Ken we've got we've got viewers from all parts right now you know uh just receiv received word of a family that's at Cedar Point in Ohio I will not be surprised if a friend of ours that we both know by the name of Yoshi nakagawa is listening from saporo Japan right now American football coach in Japan who who loves loves Franklin came here with his son back in February yep great great family I know you coached with him over there or played with him whatever it was you coach him played he helped coach he was my translator for a while over there in Japan and very neat well here comes Grayson Betts Alex Luger's in the back field single back Franklin using a a HB tight end and so we're really in trips to the right right now and it's a little trap oh missed the block but lugers maybe gets one so they've done a good job bottling him up so far it's early speaking of people watching in the game I know there's probably some people uh all around Hillview watching on their big screen on their patio if they couldn't make it over to the game tonight uh I know Joe mcginness does that once in a while so hopefully he's watching with his crew shout out to you guys over there lugers comes up and they're going to hand it to stals again we're waiting for our real first explosive play of the game there's a lot of medium games going on here now through the you know nearly nearly through the first quarter it's going rather quick with good ball control that's going on with running game clocks continuing to move with four minutes to go here in the first quarter there's a smart play get the ball out in space oh nice Tackle by number six again number six for Mount Vernon's doing a great job Robert doson uh cornerback for him came up it's going to force a probably a punt looks like they're coming out to punt it coach number 10's going back deep Gavin joy for the Marauders and number two Riker bear Grayson Betts the quarterback is also the punter gets a great roll and into the end zone for a touch back just just missed the pylon by one yard all right I think the thing you're going to see all season long from the grizzly Cubs that's a little bit unique this year than last year they're moving they're moving lugers around a lot he's not always going to be in the back field and they're they're trying to get him the ball out in space interesting to see how the mar are going to respond here and that'll that'll be great for the colleges that he's got a lot of interest and from a lot of colleges and getting to see him in space because he might have to do some of that uh in the college game once he gets there he's got great speed he uh he he uh he qualified you know in in the 100 just a yeah so we're good okay we're good now we we're laughing because we got a little technical difficulties that we fought through very well thanks to the our man who's here Kevin thank you for that us rookies at this just need to know how to push the button a little bit better but uh hey we're on to Second down already Ken Yep they're going to stay in that short little p it's not really a pistol Brogan's right beside him he's going to throw it right up uhoh uhoh two's wide open and beautiful catch and getting the foot down it was really was a mirrored pass pattern on both sides with Fades on the outside and little quick outs by the slot receivers and Mason Meyer threw it at the at just the right time Kelvin English is in there right now at corner uh pretty close to him just it was a good throw over the shoulder and he made the play little quick run here to Rogan's got it slashing and dashing nice run about 15 yards Mike yeah and they were they were in uptempo offense their offensive coordinator Toby Jacobs here they go again a young man that I was able to coach for one year at Butler University in back in 1992 former quarterback from Cina he's their offensive coordinator he's got him up tempo right now that's better oh don't grab just a strong running back you're going to have to really gang tackle and really be strong about getting broken down he's really got some nice moves you know after he gets the ball and shakes and bakes harol Singh amongst the M many making the tackle there here looks to be the the push looks like they got it another first down yeah with 234 to go picked up about four on the old QB push sneak Franklin's got eight up you know they're playing uh playing up to stop that run here's the first time that uh oh nice move by Meyer Run's pretty good for sophomore coach Ian that was a nice read nice fake uh I assume that's a read option I don't know if it was a predetermined play but looked like he held it long enough to be a read I I agree with you there and he's a guy I've been told by their coaching staff is really could be playing receiver a slot receiver he's that kind of like your son Ken Danny Sears was the same way at Whitland played option quarterback but boy when he came to college at Franklin uh he was just one heck of a receiver and punt return or kickoff return it seems like Mason Meyer from Mount Veron is that Satan type of guy looks like Blake Smith's down right now we got uh Marcus Davis out there checking on him uh gives everybody a break with a minute 50 to go in a quarter um I don't know if we'll get another shot of that or not Marcus hadn't done much with him just kind of I just got rolled up on a little bit looks like he's going to walk off on his own that's a good sign very good sign there that's a walking slow but Junior Blake Smith his dad played for Coach Leonard as well at Franklin College got some other guys down on the sidelines uh Scott Martin played for Coach Leonard he helps with the defensive backs Zack duret who's the defensive coordinator is a Franklin College guy he just recently got inducted into the decator central Hall of Fame uh I'm not sure who else is all down there Chaz Hill yep defensive back coach think Chris call I never coached him but he's a Franklin College man as well first down and goal to goal he's co he might have puked a little bit look he's WIP he's wiping up some stuff on the turf yeah that's you know I I had a feeling that with this heat that the trainers are going to be a big key tonight hydration I know the coaches have been talking about it all week yeah he's over there hands on his knees I think he's going to be our he probably drank so much I know his dad used to drink a lot of Pedialite before ball games when it hot games we're going to see a whole lot of this all night long Jala Brogan with a touchdown for Mount Vernon about an 8- yd touchdown just got outside and out ran some people very nice blocking up front nice job taking the ball back handing it to the official I think uh Mount Vernon they've got three seniors with left tackle Fox Right Guard Reed and right tackle Maple oh they got a little little swing and gate type of thing here on their doesn't look like they're going to kick it either they are uh two point conversion Guru team I've been told by oh but they had to force themselves to call a timeout yep coach Jacobs offensive coordinator basically called that timeout he knew something didn't look right but he did tell me pregame he said we are the we are the team that might run the most two-point plays in the state and uh you know what that always makes your defensive coordinator spend a lot of time preparing for two-point conversions they could be W working on your you know your base plays and things like that so there's some Merit to it if you can get it done and it works you saw what they did there Ken they had you know a split line they had like three guys on one side and three gu side three guys on the other side and you know as a defense you you you you almost you can't prepare for everything in this short amount of time to get ready for the season but that's one of those things where you know those 11 guys got to kind of figure it out on the run a little bit and uh sometimes when you just play zone you know and just keep your eyes on the ball and run to the football and make tackles that's what like they're Manning up on the outside and probably doing well now they're just in a regular offensive set here right motion to trips and that's got to be an offensive that's going to push him back to the eight the slot on the on the top side jumped I'm some Franklin guys jumped too but uh depends on who I mean I would think they would call it on oh they're calling it on Franklin wow yeah I always lean that that that's on an offense when an offensive guy jumps like that so they're down should be on the one and a half not the one so looked like Brian Avery the Umpire for the calling the the holds and everything in there got it marked off right we know a few of those guys out there and they're all good officials working calling the game the way they they do best n gave it to him yeah two-point conversion is good minute 40 to go Mount Vernon strikes first see how Franklin Returns on this uh responds you know I hope that uh the weather will stay away uh it happened this afternoon here in Franklin where it just got dark with some popup clouds I just hope that the lightning will stay away and we can get this game in normal time just never know in today's weather environment with the heat we've had you get a lightning delay and everybody's been sweating that's when you really get some dehydrated kids and right it's hard to get enough water when you're in a locker room or locker room gets hot doe Point still pretty high supposed to come down tomorrow supposed to be a nice day after the rain gets through tomorrow hopefully we do get some rain for all the grass around here Ken this might be the first time on any television broadcast I've ever listen to watching all my ears of football I've ever heard dupoint okay that was pretty impressive there I do I do mow for the school here so I do need to know a little bit about the D Point Ken Ken one of the the the head softball coach here at Franklin Community High School as well and is just a coaches coach can do can coach anything and uh speaking of that her name's going to come up eventually Alex Luger's sister almost as good as athlete as he is maybe better in some aspects but uh she's down there cheering for her brother nice run by number 10 Landon basy with a nice run nice return little holding call there by the by the far wi man right at the end of that run that's going to put him back probably at about it's going to be 10 yards from the 26 so that just means more yards for for the Franklin offense got a bunch of cheer leers today I'm sure they'll show them eventually on this big screen but we we got a ton T of cheerleaders this year you know isn't it fun to hear the band you know it's it's been a while early here in the football season and first home game here at Franklin it's it just conjures up a lot of great memories of being in high school and it's hard to beat a Friday night High School football no question great great student crowd student section is killing it yeah well Vernon only brought a few but they got a couple they're dressed in neon over there as well well they're offensive linemen are getting down field but they might want to take care of business before they get down there another guy Leon that would be that'd be left tackle Eli juwel I believe number 54 that's that's that's not good when you're hbling as the left tackle lugers a six for 17 yards we need to get him the ball and space and let him do some things there he goes he's he's motioned out lined up in the slot got a little one-on-one coverage a little out route there he goes if he can get away he is a uh ran track for the first time this last spring and just really made the state finals really improved his speed and he's just gotten Strong coach Hart does a super job in the in the weight room with these Franklin student athletes and uh you can really tell he's really developed so I think that's going to be the formula for a while get get the ball to him in space let the other guys get bored and then and then strike later with with some of these other receivers Luger's deep at about you know nine yards from the from the ball as he's in the pistol bubble screen oh get up field oh nice move by number five he got to the edge and picked up a first down or it's going to be real close close where they marked at yeah that was Wyatt yes Wyatt Mitchell good catch and run he you know it looked like he they had him bottled up but he got outside of it and made it one good move and ran to the sideline so they did give him the first down so 32 seconds to go in the first quarter they don't H they're going to have to run one more play this quarter you can see the Marauders in kind of a two deep shell here Corners are up tight they got five I mean they outside linebackers they're in a three four if you want to call it that but boy they have done a job on they're coming hard off the edge and uh they're kind of getting to them during the handoff it's making it tough on lugers to get away well they can take it down to the quarter if they want to but they're calling that'll be the quarter yeah they're not going to get this off no well a lot of good things going on here at Franklin community Community Schools and uh that is the quarter all right we'll take a quick break uh score on your graphics is not correct it's 8 to zero not 8 to8 correct thanks for we'll start the second quarter here and second those of you just tuning in but we'll be back in just a second to prepare for baby number one Insurance we're good at meline and Chan's just gave in and became minivan people to make room for baby number two insurance and we're good at Gabby and Nate's just moved to a house with a bigger backyard to welcome fur baby number three Insurance start with Indiana Farm Bureau insurance and stuff everything good knocking on wood the goal isn't graduation day it's a better everyday after it's the first day in your new career your first pay raise the fifth day of that week-long vacation it's the first paid holiday home with your family or the day of your last car loan payment much sooner than you thought at ivytech Community College we don't just care about your degree we care about your life let's get started at IV tech.edu hey Indiana let's clear the air about vaping glue rad poison paint we all know these products contain poisons like falah Arsenic and lead and these are just a few of the chemicals you'll find in the cigarette vapor grizly didn't want to wait for the commercial here goes bet break decides not to throw and got a nice 17 18 yard run for Grayson [Applause] BS makes it hard on on a defense when a quarterback can look down field go through his progression find a little Gap to run through and Grayson's not known for blazing speed but he did make a nice move there on the line back I know he's worked hard in the offseason to throw the ball and and he's got some good athleticism to him so I think I think they're going to have to use that some you bet fine baseball pitcher he is too that that outside pressure is just getting to the running back just way too soon for these Zone runs I presume it's a Zone run Jack Ben vickle and a couple others back in there just getting after number 55 right brayen Robinson also back in the they're get they're making a lot of penetration coach that they're going to have to figure out a way to to stem that a little bit yeah that that front uh front for mountain Vernon just doing a great job there they've got a nose man there number 55 Braden Robinson and uh you know often times they bring they got five guys on the line and they're just now they've moved Luger's no back good protection good play here we go there we go there we go perfect pass by Grayson but just had some time the offensive line did a good job with that fiveman rush and he sat in the pocket and and threw it right on the money to uh lers absolutely now we'll see what the Cubs want to do since it's 8 to six are they going to kick it they're not going to chase points early I wouldn't think so they've got a good kicker Matt Payne going to try and kick this one [Applause] through Snap hold and kick [Applause] couldn't tell if that was Eli juwel on the snap or not it was Henry Houston I Believe okay uh 36 I was trying to check that it was Henry Houston I Believe Kate Petty number 16 on the ho with good protection by everybody else 8 to S critical points 8-7 Marauders I know coach col and his staff and players they'd like to thank the Grizz club for their tireless support of the Franklin Grizzly cuup football program this year's title sponsor Smith and& Company Real Estate they do a great job in this whole community and player of the week sponsor is Hometown nutrition Ken didn't know if you knew that or not Hometown nutrition Le and there's a plethora of Winner Circle sponsors that we'll read off a little later as well as touchdown level sponsors Matt pay's going to kick off while coach is getting some of the sponsorship stuff done uh they need to pin them back let's get a good stop and and get this game going towards the grizzly Cubs kind of a toe kind of a toe Basher coach yeah and it goes to those upbs that sometimes are not not real good but he was real good number number 10 Gavin Joy Gavin he's their HB and he's used to handling the football did a nice job all right let's see what defense looks like Blake Smith's back walking a little slow still he probably get some fluids in him he'll be fine he'll make a play for us [Music] soon more a traditional 4-3 aren't they coach yes Grizzly Cubs in a fourman front and roer's in a 33 type front we go a little toss to broen oh nice Play Lost yardage play there number 39 Jesse Boaz great great job coming up and forcing it back and I think somebody else came in and helped Ryan Callaway possibly the corner down here on this on this side did a nice job flip-flopping our Corners looks like we I think they go wh side a lot good look at the defensive front there now we got another pass low screen maybe no just Smith being able to get through they throw it away P heavy Pursuit by Blake Smith I think if I was a sophomore quarterback I might have thrown that away too nice play by Mason Meyer you don't want to take that hit right now brought out maybe a n nickel package looks like they got an extra uh defensive back in game right now expecting it on Third and 11 we'll see what uh what they do with that with with broen at running back you just you've got to watch him on every down yeah I think we got that extra DB oh it's at the Mir oh gone nice play nice pass right on the money number two Jake no rer bear correct bear with a nice catch threw it out there and and uh thre it before he made his cut which allowed him to make that catch you beta and a nice Blitz pick up by Broan I think once they get a first down they they start I'm I'm going to say watch out for an explosive here second this was your favorite time to throw it down the field oh or trying to get the Cubs to jump again that's three actually but one we we question a little bit but that was quick easy first down for the Marauders again and you have to be disciplined it's only week two and they're able to hold on that second count or whatever they were going on maybe no [Music] count post there it is rout deep nice play play number 10 Again Landing again Landing basy B's doing his job out there senior in the secondary trying to help uh you know he's the only they Callaway is also a senior back there quarterback can't throw it a little bit can he you know through it 40 something yards into the end zone now good to have athleticism in the secondary and it's good for them to make those plays that that's great quarterback R Mason Meyer oh we got I think we're going to have a holder of see what the preliminary call is [Music] back back NOP hold on Mount Vernon that's going to move him back a [Applause] bit now the ball's not over [Applause] there yeah that was oh were they on that Ash okay my bad that's Mr Brian Avery the Umpire that was walking that off his his official Duty now in his daytime job he's the director of Unified sports here in the state of Indiana for the ihsaa just doing a phenomenal job believe that's year three on the job former athletic director at several schools including my Speedway spark oh little flare PL pass out here to number 10 uh over his head Gavin Joy didn't wasn't able to get that well defended by the grizzly Cubs though they were right there the whole time they weren't going to pick up much even if they did so we got a third and 20 well maybe right at thir 20 yeah so what do you do here Ken you going to you going to pressure with are you going to just play play base I'm going to play base and if they want to get 10 yards let them go ahead and get 10 yards looks like uh roers are going to take a timeout right here and I I think you're right I think I think uh coach tette for Franklin coach Martin guys coaching on defense here are just going to play base defense and bend but not break it here on Third and 20 you've got you you got Blake Smith coming off an edge that's going to get some pressure hopefully this is where he excels in sure passing situations you bet looks like they might be getting a little water too it's got to be cool coing down I know it's cool up here in the Press Box but we have air conditioning here so it's hard to [Applause] [Music] tell 8 to7 yo brers over our Franklin Grizzly Cubs after way through the second quarter go got trips now it's going to motion back to to doubles throwing it up in the air a good old fake screen to the wide receiver and send the slot up the sideline good try incomplete good defense we'll see if uh they just bring their offense back out to punt or they got their offense on the field yeah they might do the old quarterback punt deal here I know looks like they're going to run something here Franklin thinks they're going to punt they must have saw in the tape that let it bounce they're going to get good punt down at the 5 yd line you know you don't see it that often when the quarterback is only at 5 yd deep when they normally they back up the quarterback to about eight or nine u yeah very fortunate kick and roll there out at the four ydd line it it makes the defense stay you can't really set up your returns when you're able to do that if you've got a quarterback that can punt a little bit like that that was a great put but wasn't high or wasn't anything pretty but went out of bounds the bets so far is five for six for 75 yds a lot of that's on that touchdown to Alec lugers lugers has only got 16 yards and eight attempts kind of reminds you know Jonathan Taylor for the Colts they box him in box him in and all of a sudden he's going to break one here so same number same color jersey Kenny I know what you mean good analogy you know it's just really two on two up at the top there's just they're just getting to him and that's they're going to call him down on the half Y Line those outside ends are coming in at the mesh point of the handoff it's just too deep for it right now so I'm sure Franklin's going to make the adjustment at halftime but boy they need to get something here they don't want to get pinned back here they're going to give m in great field position going bring up a second 13 fortunate that that was the safety see now little a tighter formation here for theis Cubs doesn't look like frankon gets under Center much do they no they don't we got a one-on-one match up out there the wide again oh found a little SE for Alec lugers up the middle Alex always runs hard probably seven yards on that [Music] play but it's still it's a big third and six third and [Music] seven like to thank Blake for doing some stats up here for us great IT Tech guy trying to keep track of this crazy stats uhoh incomplete pass not calling any kind of he threw that to my grandson madx in the ball boy it look like but Maddox fine receiver there he's he's going to be someday but they're probably lucky they didn't get an intentional grounding in the end zone for a safety there but we'll see what our quarterback can punt now Grayson bets will be punting they're a little short of players out there two four six 8 10 now they got 11 Kenny you count quick like I used to 2 468 101 2 468 101 oh nice punt oh but if he catches that that Gavin Joy uh-oh uh-oh way to the Ed there 26 Schultz I believe stz I mean I'm sorry yep Isaiah St nice job Isaiah nice job keeping the outside arm leveraged his dad does a fine job running the Franklin parks department we've got we've got something special here in Franklin with the old parks department the amphitheater Holly Johnston and Company just a great place to live work and play Franklin Indiana all right defense see what the Mount Mount Vernon offense has got trips right take it over on the 31 yd line that's great field position with 8 minutes to go in the second quarter fr yeah they're going to get that's uhoh Blake Blake down again get up Blake but he Blake really did a nice job pursuing from sing with the with the tackle along with Blake Smith Blake's getting beat up tonight he's going to come off for a play I Was isolating on him that play Ken and he he really came hard down the line and made the Play From The Far Side Wy mlan McCain is coming for him oh he's got some time got some time now he's going to scramble he's loose oh we got a block in the back though so we're that this one's going to come back a little bit it's going to be a 10 Yer probably from about the 20 so they're going to get it second almost the same thir yeah not much different so a all that work's going to come back with a a 10 yard from the 20 very impressive run there though by Mason Meer the lineman out there trying to do his job the got a little carried away with a guy who had his back to him and tried to clean it [Applause] up little bit of a break there for the Cubs now that see take take advantage of [Music] it second down and nine again [Music] Broan very patient nice cut back tripped up looks like by number 32 Isaac Bron right couple other big sponsors we here at Franklin everybody in the athletic department like to thank Yer uh really helping out helps get all our kids in into the games for free and it looks like Franklin just jumped off sides again that's got to stop if if we're going to be a good solid football team on defense we can't give first downs away on Third and less than five by jumping off sides dine has got the play disciplin smart football period Legends are another big sponsor Ted bishop and everybody out there does a lot for our golf program but he does a lot for he announces a lot of our girls basketball games and so they're they're all in oh we had him he's oh Meyer decides he'd seen enough Franklin was looking at him and he just went down it was almost like a team picture of the front four that he was looking at he just thought you know I think I'll just go down it kind of reminded me of pton Manning when pton didn't like what was going on he kind of he went down Johnson Memorial Hospital our third Big Time sponsor they do a lot with our trainers and everything oh we had a little motion but they're not going to call it looks like hit the B button the spin button on Madden and once again Isaac Bron really stepping up making some plays which is what you think your middle linebacker should do if if your front four is doing their job then the linebackers get all the glory and all the tackles so true so we forced them back to Third and about 15 so that's a good thing let's see if we can play some defense Quick Pass tackle oh there we go fourth down tackles fourth down fourth and five and if I'm I'm they're they're going to quick on the ball and they're going to see if they're going to see if they can get Franklin to jump off sides here although it is fourth and six it's not fourth and less than five you think anybody down there's yelling don't jump watch the ball watch the ball they're going to call timeout I think maybe they're going to call something they're standing around I haven't seen a signal yet they're going to watch I'm watching calling something offensive coordinator Toby Jacobs there's only 3 seconds left on the 25 they'll they'll take the time out that's their third timeout third timeout of the half so they're out of timeout see if that comes back and helps the Cubs in these last four and a half minutes very good great game tonight I mean y defenses are playing you know for the most part Bend but not break giving up a little bit of yardage but keeping them out big play right here for Franklin couple more let's talk some more sponsorships Ken shall we yeah let's we have something in the Grizz club called The Winner Circle level of sponsorship it's Smith and Suns LLC galri photography First National Bank Marshall mechanical heating and cooling VCI Mentos baile and wood mortgage Davis rck Gilpin glass Franklin Muffler breaks and more Patton Plumbing mayor Steve Barnett and Franklin Dermatology looks like Mount buron has decided they're going to kick this field goal as you can see on the screen well they won't they go for two for two-point conversions but this is about a 32 y it looks to be up and good good couple other scores looks like Carmel and Westfield carmel's up 10 0 they're in a lightning delay right now uh Brownsburg beating Cathedral 10 to zero in the second quarter that's kind of a surprise although those two really good teams the cater Central a conference uh is up 14-7 over to cater or over newal in the second quarter that's a big score big game mid after a new pal struggle Lon col's up Frank over Franklin Central 7even nothing in the first quarter let's see if we got any other locals that might be nice to beach Gro Jennings County 140 Arville is down 14 to6 to blomington South still in the first quarter though don't have a lot of other scores yet might be some lightning delays out there well you can just kind of see it in the air here even for the Press Box just a little darker than what it was when the game started couple County Schools inding Creek uh is up 21 to 14 over Greenwood looks like a highs scoring game in second and still in the first quarter oops Ken while you're looking up some more scores let me read off a couple more sponsorships for the touchdown level sponsor there's about six of them that'd be dermit Financial Group Mutual Savings Bank a big thank you from me personally to the VA family I care I like the glasses very very much so they're working just great Holly thank you you and Adam Dylan travels Johnson County RMC and Cedar Lane Dentistry and by the way the official painter of the Franklin football team is rolling with the Richies I did not know that all right it's time for the Cubs to give a good return here Alec Meyers kicking off nice kick it's in the end zone for a Touchback wow Alec Luger L it's an automatic touching Alex Luger what did I say Alec I'm not getting on you about that but yeah it's it's his name is Alex Alex just kind of sound like you just stopped short sorry kie and or Kylie and Brandon two back shotgun knowing that lugers is going to shift and move out into the slot see if we can get a match up here looks like they're doubling up lers a little bit they know he's the threat he's there I think uh Mountain Vernon's got a plan for lugers when he shifts out they're going to say nope you're not going to throw it down him at least we're not going to let you get one deep on [Music] us looks like they signal all their plays in from the sideline they don't run anybody in so you know it all starts up front Mason Ford there playing Center number 65 yeah they've gone they've gone to a fourman front now so maybe we can get the ball running a little bit there nice cut back oh he breaks that it's a big run but they closed it down pretty good number 40 on Alex for uh Mount Vernon give it up I mean they're playing very good run [Music] defense I can't say his last name Kowski ni tackle brand new Turf this year they fixed it after the season last year it'll be a great playing uh playing surface for these young men beautiful quick SN a little quick yeah didn't look go find somebody got him deep he's got him got him deep oh pass interference there we go we got a pass interference number 10 did not see the ball so when our receiver was coming back he bumped into him number 11 for Jaden Oliver come tried to come back for the ball and got bumped uh Mount Vernon's coach doesn't look very happy about it but probably the correct call yeah anytime there's that much contact on it on especially when the DB was beat and he's come running you know when in doubt I think that's a very good call by that deep deep official nice job with the scramble rules too when when Grayson got outside the pock the receivers they were short and they went deep that's just just like you draw it up as a coach P penalties are starting to mount up a little bit for Mount Vernon most of Franklin are just off siid on the defense there we go he's got some space for lugers oh he had one man uh nice gain going to call him a little short there Kim which is okay it's going to be second down and short nice Tackle by number 84 find him Colton Anderson from Mount Vernon nice tackle if he didn't get him it could have been a pretty big run looks like they're going to stay in that fourman front you know Franklin's in the pistol now and by that I mean that tail back lugers is right behind the cor now they shift him out but it's just seems like that hand off in the pistol has been a little dicey y oh nice pass ooh nice tackle there number six is Happy catch by number 36 that would they're going to move it first down Henry Houston with the catch number six with a nice open field tackle Robert doson for Mount Vernon clock's running Grizzly Cubs have all three timeouts Mount Vernon has none so that could play a factor down the stretch here in the first half [Music] oh yeah look at him double up and Double D oh look like a little bubble coming but it didn't didn't have much time 56 was all over Grayson second 10 stops the clock with [Applause] 253 hope you're enjoying the graphics and the video we've got six cameras working tonight students are doing a fine job on the campas met them up here in the boo beforehand with her little I don't know if we' call it a production meeting but uh it sounds official doesn't it yeah they're doing a great job it's like a 5 yard game maybe for for Alex leager Li little bit right now too everybody's getting got getting hit right now everybody's getting hit and banged and we'll get to rest for a few minutes here the good thing is Mount Vernon's locker rooms a little bit of a walk and Franklin gets to go right through the end zone into their locker room so hopefully they got the air cranked up some water in them and get get some a nice patient run nice second gear well that was third and six Ken so I think that was key the key is not to give Mountain buron the ball back with 208 left in the half I mean Franklin ideally let's let's get six points seven points Point touchdown right uh at at worst three but definitely do not give the ball back to a potentially explosive Marauder offense ruggers is up to 51 run uh 51 yards on 14 carries so he's matched his carries from last week already I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't carry it 15 more times tonight he's starting to get in a little bit of a Groove nice catch by number 41 Cory tante our wrestling coach's son number 41 yep nice job Cory had a couple touchdowns last week in his game against New New Albany Bulldogs on the road we got you know clock running but we're not really concerned too much being at the 28 yd line with 142 to go see look like the slot on the top side oh got Alex on a swing oh oh thr away throw away good decision line up to play another down on third down and Four's making some suggestions to the sideline I don't know if they're going I always like that you know as a coach I always like the quarterbacks who you you could give them some ownership but if they wanted to call a play they felt strongly with go for it so we'll see what happens here go oh nice hard run and it's going to be close Left Foot Right Foot it looks like are backing up a little bit on it fourth down and inches I think we still go for it here we don't have to rush we got 112 on the CL about a foot is what Mr official signal the group Franklin appears looking at the scoreboard has all three timeouts left so we're not we're not we're in good shape time wise even though it's under a minute we got to get this first right here oh it's going okay oh well I'm sure they had a plan it didn't work out the way they thought that's and you know I have I don't go to practice so I don't see what kind of formations but be nice every once in a while the quarterback could get under Center on a fourth and a foot but they they've got a game plan I'm sure they're going to make their adjustments at halftime if they need to interesting I would think Mount Vernon's going to be pretty conservative here well they have no timeouts K 48 seconds I mean it's I love this kind of situation yeah you were always trying to score you're going to try and score and I think they will too they've got you know some explosive receivers and a great running back you don't want to throw a I mean that's an explosive potential play right there but that's that's going to pretty much run it out here BR have to run one more the 40 yeah yep Franklin just needs to stay back although they're going to they're going to hurry up a little bit trips to the top oh it's going to throw it now he got throw it away know with Franklin has three timeouts left 25 seconds I mean yeah if I call a timeout as soon as we if we stop them here absolutely you know a blocked punt or you just need a fumble something you know you never never give up on a situation see what happens here you got to get a stop first my guess is they give it to Broken no they going to throw it we're not going to have to stop the clock so we're going to have three timeouts and get the ball back hopefully around the 40 yard if even if it's a good punt so maybe bring the house here you got to bring the house that's I was thinking for you have a block doesn't look like it looks like we're playing safe but I'd have a I see all the linebackers and Corners still pretty it fun from this angle we could just we could just call whatever we wanted we got no pressure yeah all right burn in kind of a more traditional punt formation bin Owens is deep let's see if we can get him the ball and get him back in good Feld position this is John Duncan the and he Shanks it shs get away run away oh that's an illegal back let's see if they call that and we're kind of thankful that 21 seconds to go touched it as soon as he did because that stopped the clock um 21 seconds they got they got probably three plays they three timeouts and they don't have to throw to the sideline because they've got those timeouts so good [Applause] situation see what they got up their sleeves got official timeout let's he going if he's come over talk to coach PA see that at the bottom of our screen head coach Chris call been part of a state championship team in his days at Tri West High School as an assistant he was the offensive coordinator of the run and shoot 2003 season they won a state he's been here at Franklin I believe this is seven or eight years now as head coach coach Call's also the assistant athletic director here so he stays awful busy in the offseason helping out Mr Dodie our fine athletic director can't remember if you mentioned the name Lance Mayfield our offensive line coach here at Franklin he's another grizzly grizzly Cub that we were I'm sorry Grizzly that we were able to coach at Franklin College here we [Music] go block getting outside good blocks comeback no he didn't catch it threw it on a nice comeback 16 Kate Petty Kate Petty couldn't quite come up with that one nice route if we could have got that been in few yards I'm not sure how good are has Matt Payne kick a long field goal kicker or yeah I I think it with 12 seconds here let's go verticals you know posts switch routes Crossing routes something to get a big chunk well they've got they're bringing six it looks like coach yeah yeah they are bringing six good good good scramble keep running now get out of bed right there you picked up 11 seconds all right and now you're in a a definitely throw the ball into the end zone with 6 seconds to go last play of the half most likely um and he can do that from 33 yd line with just got to get time with them bringing six which means they've only got five out in coverage which they're not going to be able to double up anybody so I keep it keep a couple guys in to he's I think he's keeping lugers in you got one-onone on the outside and the slot so keep keep some guys in and throw it I I like the matchup number well he's not going to do it there it is got him oh comeback I'm not sure about that well couldn't quite get the clock ticked off for Mount Vernon so the Cubs will get one more try now they're going to have to go to the end zone I would think or at least something underneath that they think they can break a tackle or two I I mean I you know Mount Vern's playing basically manto man coverage and so you know a two-way go of a post or a vertical something but let's get the ball to the end zone here he had time good protection by the o line and the extra extra running back and tight end I I just like number five on a slot Runner P oh nope and that'll going to that's going to take us to the half good half of football Mount Vernon 11 Franklin 7even we're going to take a break I imagine Here for a Good halftime yep so we're going to sign off you guys go get you something to eat something to drink make sure you come back the band's getting ready they've got some really cool props out there not sure what it is if it's a windmill or an oil rig or what do you think it is Blake I think he thinks it's an oil rig I don't know it looks pretty yeah so we'll we'll we'll update you on the band halftime performance after we get through the half so thank you everybody at Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance we're not just good at Insurance we're good at Emma and Jake's just baby proof their two-bedroom bungalo to prepare for baby number one we're back we're going through a two-minute uh warmup Franklin stretching their legs out um couple halftime stats Alec Luger's 14 carries for 51 yards uh Grayson Betts 7 for 16 for 94 yards through the air um scores around the area Indian Creek still beating Greenwood I think last I saw it was 2814 my old school uh where I was fortunate enough to coach and teach and athletic direct is losing right now to cooko 14-7 that being Whitland Whitland they'll be facing the Cubs in a couple weeks weeks always a great matchup um new palal and decer Central tied at 21 so that's a sounds like a really good game going nice little halftime break that we had there the band did a phenomenal job great job to the grizzly Cub band I went outside and actually saw one of my old teammates from college down at Hanover Charlie hit who resides in New Palestine but his son Chaz is our defensive back coach here for the grizzly Cubs good to see my buddy Charlie hope everybody had a little break got something to eat got something to drink ready for a great second half here 117 Mountain Vernon over Franklin and they're going to get the ball Mount Vernon is going to get the ball to start second half they deferred the kickoff correct if I'm remembering right you are most correct Ken so you know this being streamed on on YouTube We're understanding we weren't sure if there was 81 or 81,000 we we weren't sure how many were watching the stream we just heard 81 we assumed it was thousand but or million we don't know if you're able to comment if we'd like to know who's watching from the farthest away um maybe a little little award little shout out uh whether it's this game or next game our our next home game is next week against Perry Meridian first Midstate conference Game of the Year a lot of activities scheduled to go on tomorrow here at Franklin I believe we've got cross country Invitational um what else we've got there Kenny what are you trying to show me here we're up to 90 are you 9,000 wow 90 million oh my goodness we're most appreciative of you you all watching and you really seriously hopefully this is a great service for those of you that weren't able to make the trip for whatever reason it's always better in person but if you can't if you live in if you're grandma in Iowa then this is hopefully you get a we have great video I think they had a couple other Kinks with some cameras they've got worked out now uh we're going to have replay eventually once we get those Kinks worked out so uh stay tuned don't give up on us uh we'll get smooth uh and it'll be a great thing to watch getting ready to kick off here with Matt Payne let's see if he can get one uh let's see if we can get a little turnover or pin them back deep oh nice much better kick except they kicked it to Brogan I believe he's very Shifty and he runs with power out to the 40 yd Line 39 couple people on The Tackle but I think the most uh Kellen failure uh f l l u e I'm not exactly sure on that pronunciation see what the Cubs can do here the grizzly Cubs need a quick stop get their momentum going I think I think they're still in good shape if they take care of things probably made some nice adjustments at half to that uh five and six man front that they need to uh account for good pinned out there nice Blake Smith first Contact and the big boying him chases him down with some help over on the far side you bet that was probably sing number 33 over there on that edge at the outside linebacker helping out probably Dax Richards inside possibly 44 number 44 for Franklin and failure yeah oh little underneath pass o big hits by the three DBS out there yeah yeah again Callaway Ryan Callaway 29 brought him down 29 made the first big hit 32 was in there as well Gavin Joy on the catch he's he's shaken up a little bit he's going to come out but he made a really nice catch and run run after catch was he's he's probably their best DB too so we'll have to keep an eye on that looks like he's okay he's shaking off the trainer and taking off a some tape or something that is a good Movement by the right tackle but again it was third and four looks like the Franklin coaches have instructed the D lineman that we are not going to jump offall let's not do that although we started to move but they moov first that brings up a third in about eight and a half oh maybe maybe eight officials nowadays do a much better job getting a ball on the hashes so that he got fake oh he's open just off the hands of number two for Mount Vernon uh rker bear it's really good pass just a little overthrown let Colt uh the grizzly Cubs did exactly what we were hoping get a three and out you bet take care of it make sure they get the punt here looks like you know just they do have their their normal punter in the game yep uh not sure what we got we're a little confused here two four six quarterback punt catch it good Mason Meyer punt I wonder if he's you know about a 30 yard net nice return by the Griz basy good good good return that's great field position started at 35 36 um see what coach Call's got dialed up I don't know if he scripts first 10 plays of the game or if he scripts anything in the second half but uh something to get us in a rhythm is what you're talking about yes I'd like to see you know looks like they're going back to their fourman front uh because the the grizzly Cubs have been able to throw the ball let's see what they got a little Bunch trips over here so they can hand it to lugers up the middle number 56 with a nice tackle and then he even helped up lugers after he after he knocked him down good Christian keep to Kip to that's a nice angle that inzone shot see what they can do second and about eight Maybe seven lugers nope no oh I don't know what that route was we got a little confused bets thought he was running some type of stop I don't know if it was an option route or what but I was I I was isolating on Alex lugers who was running a route on the left side and he ran that little stop route that you were talking about Ken yep and uh it just didn't happen on the right side like it was supposed to y puts him in a little bit of a spot here this is a little tougher for the offense a little easier for the defense when you got a third and eight you've got to press well looks like coach call wants to talk about it this is he understands this is a pretty big play I'm not sure he wanted to burn a timeout yet but this is a big play for the grizzly Cubs Ken uh we were talking earlier but one of the former coaches for Mount Veron Dave Morant coached at Mount Vernon from 1974 to 1986 as I was looking at his his bio earlier today but our thoughts and prayers go out to the Morant family Dave was a guy that coached with Kenny and I at Franklin College just one of the great human beings and uh just in last couple years has been in some bad health and just it's had a nice visit with him today but thoughts and prayers for Dave Morant who has been a fixture in Franklin for a while and uh and Johnson County was the head coach at Edinburg for a while coach at Lebanon U before going to Mount Vernon so just wanted to bring that up in case any of the Mount Vernon people remember that name but keep him in your prayers looks like cheer Block's got some beach balls out for Beach night or whatever their night they calling it all right let's see what we can do here we've got Alex Luger split so we've got doubles now oh no way up in the air jump ball and we got it but I don't fall backwards you know what depends on the spot one one official says first down the other one says no we're going to see we're going to see how they decide it oh the guy over there is letting this one win so we're going to have a fourth and about one not sure who that was at caught that did you catch that you know I I I didn't but it was it was everybody saw the tip ball that became way up in the air and it became a big jump ball and Franklin's receiver did not catch the number went up and got it in a great FL 14 good one or not I'm not sure he's out there but that's who I thought looks like we're going to punt it not taking any chances this early in the third quarter great snap pretty good punt he's Fair catching it oh we got fair catch interference probably Bren Bren was just hustling a little bit too much and didn't realize how close he was to the punt returner there not sure what the high school rule is I know in I think college that's a 15 y I saw it last night watching my old school NC State struggle with Western Carolina but uh they had a big break of 15 Yer when there was a inter a catch interference in college I'm not sure sure what it is in high school hopefully it's just a five yarder I think that's what it is in the pros I think they're going to step that off and it's going to be uh more than what the grizzly Cubs were hoping for Kenny that's that's 15 yeah oh got it that's a big one well your grandson Maddox Martin doing a great job and watching him as a ball boy here you know at that age that's a fun to be down with varsity football players when you're a seventh grader sixth grader whatever grer loving loving it knowing wondering what's going on yeah getting to know the guys nice hard run by br's running the ball good again you know if you can run Bron with the big tackle there but go ahead you can run picking up five six sev's a chunk you know that just makes play calling a whole lot lot easier at second three where the defense down so get our defensive lineman set got get them going oh wow that's good discipline by the grizzly front yep Mason Meer thought he had a good read on that little option and all a sudden the Grizz didn't bite on it and had three of them scare him to the ground I don't think they touched him but they did Scare him down to the ground which think I can hear the I think we can hear the sideline yell don't don't jump oh I think he stopped one yard short nice job by the corner or safety coming up was that 32 coming up on the stop uh I think so which is well that's that's Bron so this is an interesting call for Mount Vernon you got a fourth and oh we had a nice replay there we got the replay machine working they're going to go for it oh I think Grizzly stopped him Wow Let's BL fired up look at him here they say four or five plays can make a difference in a game but you never know which four or five plays that might be one of them right there great job by not only Blake Smith but number 34 up he was he was tight to the line making a play too great job man big play now let's see let's just get it let's get the Run game going a little bit here maybe Grayson pull one and keep it good there we go good sixy gain on a nice curl route Wyatt Mitchell with a nice nice catch good ball skills going up and catching that with his hands very nice replay Good Start move the chains a couple times here let's second they' got their linebackers pretty deep so we'll see there we go uh we're getting some nice comments on the stream Ken I'm not going to I I think are uh watching the the the students do their work with the cameras not so much our announcing you know okay yeah the G gamers are doing a great this stadium is named after NL Hemer Athletic Complex he just sent a nice note no's a great one thank you know former athletic director here played with him I got a great NL hinger story if we got time got to hear that well there goes Alex Alex Luger's first down what what you got so when I was track coach at Whitland we were when they old high school at Franklin we're doing the national anthon I'm looking at the flag looking at the flag trying to figure it out and I there was only 48 stars on it he still had a flag from back before Alaska and Hawaii so I walked up to him I said hey this was about 2000 somewhere in there he said I said no did you know we added ha Alaskan why he said what are you talking about I said your flag only has 48 Stars he take took so good care of that flag that he he had it from the 60s how about that so that was that's great well that wasn't what we wanted there let's see if we can get something here maybe press the outside a little bit I'd love to see a little flare pass to to one of the r running backs either stals or or or lugers but it's a good snap good protection good slam great catch Braden Braden bone steel nice nice slant route and Grayson put it right on the money cuz they jumped that pretty well yeah you can tell that Mount Vernon has confidence in their Corners they've been playing man-to-man one-on-one coverage yep a lot and uh we we went to attack at that time I'd still like to I think they might be able to get him on a little slant and go at some point later in the game we'll see or keep handing the ball oh they they've just done a great job bottling him up never really letting him get going so we got a fourth down again another tough it's not a tough decision inside the 30 but tough play call here see if Mount Vernon loads up the box or what they're going to do here remember in the first half that fourth down was they tried to throw a little Quick Pass and it didn't work out so well got Blake Smith playing left tackle and we're running right there see you later Alex when he gets flying he looks so good running the football give the ball to the official there 27 yard or touchdown there for somebody I don't know if it was a trap or they just came hard and that Gap opened up but yeah I was watching where Blake Smith was playing that time in the offensive line because he's played Right Guard but now he's at left tackle on that play and that that ball hit right around left guard left tackle right behind him that was just pretty much Straight Zone blocking I think though so nice job o line nice run nice execution snap was a little slow but fortunately big point because that that 14-1 right yep 1411 that three-point difference is going to be big you know obviously for the Grizz sideline Grizzly Cubs it's a shot of confidence we feel good but men you got to play hard here now you got to play some good solid defense yes it's good we've taken the lead but let's not rest on it know that's what the coaches are talking to about we got to we got to pit them back a little bit these they're getting the ball in pretty good starting position which makes it tough a lot of people heading out uh is it Labor Day weekend already is it almost going to be September and I heard going to be one of the busiest travel days these this weekend in a long time a lot of people getting that last last soak of hot air before you get into the fall which supposed to be a beautiful week next week here in Johnson County so it all starts with field position right here with kickoff coverage kick but once again kick to Broken Oh a little fumble picks it up and they're going to pin him back number 44 stayed with it Kellen failure again with a great great coverage we hope we're pronouncing names right Could That Be fure by any chance maybe I believe so okay let's go withler okay yes yeah cuz I don't like saying failure that doesn't sound right but it's it is we we forgive us folks grandparents whatever names are so important we're going to do our best there's good run defense on brogen boy if we can keep this up number 32 that time Isaac Bron with a great play middle linebacker shooting a gap lost a couple of yards there keep them pinned back here and I think we're in pretty good shape let's see what the defense they've got a couple receivers out here hopefully we can get get over to them all outside linebackers are seeing it Rogan shifts to the right side going to help block pass block seven step drop throwing the post but the Deb's are there great cover nice job deeper than the deepest right Kenny y bayy was doing what free safeties are supposed to do along with a cornerback chaseing number 29 Ryan Callaway now I I know you went to North Carolina State like you said to play baseball but you played a year of football too didn't you I I played for about a month I made it until school started and they had me catching punts and they said don't fair catch any we want to work on our punt coverage and that's back before they so I thought I better worry about my baseball scholarship I was I'd went as a wide receiver as a preferred walk on and they shifted me over to the secondary which was great I was doing fine but yeah yep oh didn't oh got a pick nice Ryan Callaway interception and he might a that's play number two one of the big plays of the game a stop on fourth down and now a big turnover oh no yeah that's uh that's great very nice catch y let's see if we get let's see if our replay Booth up to up to the task here for this play all right so let's see how they punch this one in still 236 to go in the third so that's a hug plenty of time huge play yep from the offensive lineman oh we got the ball let's go uh-oh uhoh uhoh never mind we got somebody for you plenty of time on the play clock uh-oh it's not that's not a penalty well got 12 in a huddle let's that was one of those little questionable things sometimes as an official that uh never got in a huddle they're going to what they're going to do they're going to communicate it and uh they might wave something off wave it off might be a 5 yard penalty bringing it back for illegal procedure having too many out there near the time of the snap we'll see well interesting call here it did look awkward it was awkward but I don't think it's illegal yeah they're calling illegal substitution first and goal from the 15 Ken yeah that's that's about as tough as first and goal as you can get but coach call wants to know why yeah that's good question didn't go to the Huddle didn't run off the sideline ran had plenty time to clear it this is just one of those uh I think it's gray you know you can't have 12 break the Huddle y well we were in no huddle mode and so I I I got to just let it sort out let's make a play guys let's go we can't control the officials we can control our execution let's go for it just got a text from another former Franklin College star Cole zook who who's our facil does a lot with our facilities here in scheduling and the pool played for Coach Leonard a few years back Grayson bets quarterback keeper it had everybody fo fo the cameraman too yes great run Grayson good job offensive line nice read talking about Cole zook he's also doing a great job with the Franklin Youth Baseball League you know he does a lot of stuff around here absolutely so thank you for the text call appreciate that came in as a quarterback became a great tight end from Carol High School the Carol High School up on near Lafayette kind of a slow snap oh they still get it across the goal there we go 21- 11 big 10-point lead now there goes our cheer block with their spelling out Franklin with the flags up and down the sideline looks like some are faster than others hopefully we'll score a bunch of points and they'll get TI tired there's a replay nobody saw him pull that one great breed Great pull I'm an old option guy so I love any type of option even though we did most of ours under Center you ran run run option mine was more we're going to throw it to this guy or to this guy or to this guy our was triple option it just had three receivers out we threw it once or twice a game whether we needed to or not but you had a pretty pretty Dynamic Wishbone offense it was fun to watch we good athletes it usually comes back to that no matter what you're running makes the coaches look better doesn't it you bet there's a good kick almost to the end zone picks it up on about the two all right all right good job wrapping him up there I think anytime anytime you can keep him inside the 25 is a good y good coverage it's just kind of interesting from this angle in the Press Box to watch the Dynamics of a a football team Sidelines after a touchdown I mean there's guys fist bumping and high five they just the mood just totally picks up all over the place it's going to inspire some good play here on defense as well y now we got Mount Veron jump a little bear getting a little edgy on that first first sound and Franklin's become a lot more disciplined this half not jumping so that automatically sets you up to go first and 15 although the grizzly Cubs scored on a first and 15 just a second ago still in that fourman front coach durrett's defense is just they're playing good leverage you know pursuing the ball they're vicing the ball there's not a lot of Miss tackles not doing anything too crazy oh we got somebody with their F we got our first real cramp looks like we got a calf cramp over there for one of the Franklin guys 55 maybe yeah I watch Corbin black it is you know and he's he's he's a sophomore if I'm not mistaken no I might be wrong on that he might be it he's a junior he's a junior yeah 63 big fella I was kind of watching him on the previous play when there's 55 right here oh it's not 55 who is it then is it Blake maybe don't see Blake out there it was Blake here he comes he's up and walking now you can barely see him on the far side up here on the screen yeah Blake Smith number 50 he's you know he's had some major visits he's been to Ohio State yep IU Purdue Miami of Ohio Ball State the problem he's playing all he's going both ways not everybody's going both ways so he's getting a lot of snaps you bet and when it's hot like this kind of mentioned it was going to there was going to be some cramping tonight and I knew it was going to be a an athletic trainer and we've got one of the best in the profession right there Marcus Davis Franklin college graduate uh excellent excellent athletic trainer who knows how to relate with student athletes and a very professional way love my dealings with Marcus Davis and I know many of the players alums do as well you got to chase oh there goes keep him on the angle good job straight armor good job not given up by number four number 10 basy number seven was down there helping out Owens was chasing from so they didn't give up that's good yeah take some time off the clock make them make him earn a touchdown don't give him a cheap one there not that that's a cheap one that's a great run but quarterback quarterback keep great discipline nice tackle number 26 that'd be stals would it yep stals again yeah he was just right there waiting for him right like he was disciplined taught to do great job as a player but I tell you great job with coaching those guys up coach durett and his defensive staff I mean that's the same play that Grayson just scored on yeah that that Mount Vernon didn't have anybody accounted for because of their style of Defense on that play dad Rocky must have been working with him on some defense right up the middle said that little tongue and cheek I think Ken I'm not sure I'm not sure Rocky's background in football I'm sure it's it was a we love your Rocky great great we love you all right couple big plays here we got a third and about three they're looking over they got a lot of hands on their hips too though so everybody's kind of sucking air a little bit right now we'll see third down and three we always yelled on our team Ado Ado alert for draw off Sid as a d lineman whole whole team was yelling to the defense 0 we'll give it to J we did not jump off sides but that's going to look like a I believe first down I think they're going to give it to him yeah oh they're backing up a little bit the two linesmen are not on exact chain gang's doing a super job over there they've been doing it forever some of them John Crow Kevin Albright you three are doing a fantastic job what about the uh oh there's the Ado I'm talking about and they and we got it we're we need to yell Ado a lot fourth down and one and we gave him so you got you got the Chain Gang I think Ben B Balman might also be the clip boy down there see the clip guy I met him at at the scrimmage yes fine young man got to be a clip you got to you got to work your way up this crew This Crew crew is experienced and they don't walk away from this from their job dang it I hated to see that offside again that's a lack of discipline we've got to get that fixed it's first and goal at the five they're going to let the clock run out we're going to head to the fourth quarter uh we're going to change ends of the field Ken let's take a break what do you say all right we'll be back in a minute they don't take long so we'll be back for well I'm back I am back on the air I tell you getting ready to start this fourth quarter and thinking about some athletic contests coming up not only tomorrow tomorrow but next week unified flag football at Franklin Community High School I I enjoyed being the coach for a couple years and they got their first home game this coming Monday I believe started at 6:30 against Perry Meridian if you've never seen unified flag football it's one of the one of the greatest things games last an hour and uh it's just a great mix of young kids that don't normally get the opportunity to play have some fun playing a great sport another pitch to Bro oh great play Blake Smith and number 29 with a big play ran Callaway been saying his name a lot tonight both of them making great plays you know our fall Sports here at Franklin right now really our golf teams top 10 in the state tennis teams winning some matches our girls soccer boys soccer really solid uh as a softball coach uh we've got some some of our softball players playing volleyball Addie Martin and and Charlie Kramer and Addy mashino and ab RoR playing uh soccer which is always good to see some multiport people another good tackle on the far side I didn't really see who made the hit uh good Pursuit by all the Franklin cross country Invitational here tomorrow if I'm not mistaken yes run back run fast hurry back right that's how you coach them it's not there's a little bit more to it than that okay one track coaches run fast turn left that sounds like a coach Mike McClure ISM for sure as well another good tackle up the middle well I think 44 was part of that okay with the score being a 10-point differential it looks like they're going field goal here on Fourth and goal from the prob smart play that's a you know four yards is not impossible to get but no one the offensive coordinator there Toby Jacobs I just always have your defense on alert even on a field goal the watch for the fake but they it's up it's good they got a really good field goal kicker he had plenty of plenty of leg there there's a good snap really good hold by whoever's holding there you bet so Mount Vernon is doing a great job with their special team so see if the grizzly Cubs get a good return here number one's their kicker I have I have it as Ryland venard Myers Alex Myers oh no that's Franklin sorry Ryland Ryland Bernard Berard yeah he's a senior 6'1 155lb kicker punter senior say punter here on our sheet but I believe he's doing the kickoff right now this is number one H he's kind of like Pat mfy yeah you think we could do that kind of show no huh me neither nobody would come on the show to listen to talk to us we are we up to 95,000 we were almost over 100,000 is that right we're going to check we're going to have BL that yeah I think our pays based on viewership I think the sponsors 118 yeah that is amazing I don't here comes the kick Franklin has two back deep wow that's deep that is a very nice K that's automatic touch that automatic Touchback in high school rules all across the country correct Ken if that ball crosses the that's a national Federation rule I believe so yeah I I kind of hope that goes away that always bothered me that well if they're not careful they'll turn it into the NFL kickoff I kind of like watching that it's going to be fun because they've they're saying no one's shown anything in the preseason so they'll have some you know those kickers as they're practicing that stuff they're thinking of funky ways they can get that thing to curve and and and uh it does look a lot safer so we'll see that's that's you bet important since it's almost touch football in some of the other parts of the NFL but you talking like the Pro Bowl in that kind of a joke to watch now I'm talking about if you look at the quarterback wrong you look at look at some Terry Bradshaw tackles back in the day there we go Breck oh doing a good job rapping him up that was number 56 with a good tackle there do you remember when turkey Joe Jones picked up Terry Bradshaw Kip to huh that that was a bad tackle back in the late 70s on Terry bradel hey back to the action here Franklin versus Mount Vernon 2114 great a couple yards 10 minutes to go that's a pretty important drive for the grizzly Cubs want to give them the ball back in good field position so a couple first downs for sure here oh all right you got you got oh not looking till good all right didn't didn't take a sack but he didn't he might have lost a yard so still manageable here wouldn't mind seeing a screen or something especially if they bring some people up something across the middle seems to be something you might draw up soup dour maybe we had some fun play names back in the day didn't we yes all right Luger's in motion out there Tri it's up to the o line to protect bringing five protect with five they went to the same play they scored on it looks like this time Mount Vernon was very much ready oine did a nice job though it was five on five pass protection they gave him the time I give that up to good coverage by Mount Vernon let's see here get get a good punt Gavin Joy's back in looks like he's fine looks like he's going to catch this one no he's going to let it bounce out of bounds still decent field position we would have liked to have gotten some more yards on that drive for sure but yeah was 35 yard punt maybe Grayson Betts he's 10 for 21 now for 114 yards unofficially uh lugers is up to 92 yards on 19 attempts rushing so still got got about a quarter to go got to get a stop here sideline demeanor not quite as uh enthusiastic coming off this time as they were that last time and you know you got to be that L even Keel when they got a running back and a pretty good passer for a sophomore nice toss oh oh he's scary out there any he I mean it's like he could go any time yeah nice job defense even though he shoot he picked up five yards second down five Blake Smith over here on the wideside defensive tackle I'm going to isolate on him as he's penetrating the Gap didn't get to him but opened it up for linebackers to make the play there for only a yard gain Bron slowed him down with a tried to get the ankles and then a couple other Grizzlies came up and uh finished him off um talking to a couple defensive coaches and and they said they they do a lot of check with me in other words they'll look at the defense and then they'll make a decision on what they're going to run sure but they do like to run into their own boundary and AD hey Ado right here Ken Ado alert for draw off sides they didn't do it but they did hit the hitch over there on the far side nice play by nice little catch yeah number 10 Joy again he's he's playing both sides of the ball pretty well looks like we've got a lightning strike or something everybody is running for the locker room they're running fast I don't know why they're running so fast yeah let's let's look at the pull up my radar you know I was wondering why the officials and then when I saw the players run I I had have to assume it was a lightning strike M says rain's expected to start in 46 minutes let's go fans are exiting the bleachers like they've been instructed by Mike Hall a longtime announcer here I don't see real close though we're safe right here if you guys want to you know Callin show we can make this you know Greg rraw type thing you know long time listener first time caller Colts post game um with Bill Brooks and Company but no this is uh this is too bad with 749 you know the the the way it works is there's got to be at least a 30 minute stoppage um from the last lightning strike until this so we're here to waited out as long as you guys would like to too um coaches walking out of here you know good luck with the delay on how they handle that um poor fans they're they have to head back to their vehicles and uh just an unfortunate situation here with 7 minutes to go but it's the right thing to do Safety First well it's going to be 30 minutes at the minimum [Music] so Ken I don't know if the lists really want to listen to your trip that you went to Scotland but you got to play at St Andrews and a few other places this summer didn't you I did go to St Andrews and got my picture taken on the store bridge but uh played up at Royal Aberdine the fifth oldest course in the world went to the British Open for a couple days climbed a mountain uh did some other hikes just had a great time a lot of sheep and Sh and in Scotland beautiful country beautiful people they're nice you you're quite the adventurer each summer you find somewhere you'd like to go last summer or the summer before in 2023 am I right did you go to Alaska I did I did the Alaska thing probably the best thing there I I took a helicopter onto a glacier and hiked for 3 hours with a big steel spiked shoes and helmet and pickaxe and had to learn to walk on ice and drank some of the glacier water it was a blast taken a 100 mile 4-day trip down to Colorado River I've taken a 4-day hike through the Grand Canyon so uh trying to figure out next year not sure there's a there's an island in the middle of Lake Superior called the island Royale uh that's got some really neat hiking on if my knees continue to get better that might be on the might be on the list or maybe Glacier National so uh my parents never traveled much when they retired after and and they then it got too late they couldn't so I always told myself I would travel so I remember me and you must have been what 2020 we we tried to go out we went made it out to Colorado did some fly fishing in the mountains and had a blast that raced up Red Rocks concert stadium and uh Golden Colorado yeah beautiful uh so that was fun so we're always trying to do something you bet well sports fans I tell you what I think if this resumes uh it'll probably be the time right now I have is 9:12 that I'm guessing if all things are equal that by 9:45 maybe even as early as 9:40 we might be back to playing football but I haven't heard any official word yet from athletic directors on what they're planed to do is but we've got 7:49 left on the clock as you can see with the score 2114 Franklin and uh we'll be back for more football hopefully later I remember when I was coaching we've we had a couple delays with Franklin and Whitland games and we actually had to come back on a Saturday morning a couple times to finish something like this about s minutes and that's tough so I'm sure they're going to wait it out because of the drive that Mount Vernon's got so uh hopefully we'll get this thing resumed they've got some pretty good technology on Lightning detection so once it's safe for the players we'll get them back so we'll be back on the air in a few minutes sounds great all right meline and chances just gave in and became minivan people to make room for baby number two insurance and we're good at Gabby and Nate's just moved to a house with a bigger air I think we've lost about 60,000 of the hundred I think there's right around 40,000 left but uh you just thought I'd get on here and thank you all for staying on the broadcast we're hoping that we can get this played I know the players are anxious in both their respective locker rooms there's lightning delays all over the state there's cancellations there's planed again tomorrow postponements not sure quite what's going on here at Franklin yet but we're kind of probably eight or 10 of us stuck up here in the Press Box while it's pouring down rain here and I'm kind of talking to myself right now I don't even know if there's anybody on but uh if you are make a comment on YouTube Blake our student assistant is kind of monitoring who is watching and uh would love to hear from you where Franklin Community football Mount Vernon football it's 10 after 10 recent lightning strike here here in the area pushes it back another 30 minutes we believe if if we're if we're the administrators we're not sure what they're deciding right now but hey if if you're listening I understand the comments on the YouTube might not be working but if if you have our numbers if you have Kenny or my cell phone numbers please chime in let us know if you're still listening or not uh we'd like to hear from you we're sitting up here in the booth just watching it stop to rain the rain has stopped boy boy for a while there though Kenny the the wind was howling it was kind of tornado is up here for a while and in a Press Box it didn't feel real good but uh we're all doing well don't worry about us we're just ready to get this game going we can see the officials they're out of their locker room they're kind of talking to some of the the coaches on the North End of the field everybody's trying to get a lay of the land on what are we're going to do tonight we're going to finish this now we're going to postpone it till tomorrow being that it's a non-conference game even though it's a close game there's probably chances that it just gets cancelled um I'm not I'm not the decision maker on that just trying to lay out some scenarios but we appreciate you all listening in and sticking with us thank you for the text there coach coach barer working with the middle school programs I was at the seventh grade and eighth grade games that they competed in last week at Columbus North and Franklin I tell you I'm very impressed with the job that the Middle School coaches are doing there's some good talent in the young grades and uh really love seeing football um get stronger here in Franklin year by year under coach Call's total leadership of the varsity program it takes it takes the youth coaches as well and shoot Ken I know you're putting on your headset here in a second and uh talking little league football I'm telling you some of those little league assistant coaches you just don't realize what an impact you are making on young people's lives I've got a story when I was a fifth grader uh in Speedway there was an assistant coach by named Stevie wall and he was just watching me throw in pre-practice I was a running back I wasn't a very good running back on the speedweight Chargers at the time but he saw me throw and he said Leonard you can really throw that ball I'm going to recommend you for the sixth grade travel team coach and I never forgot that comment you know some 60 years or 50 years whatever it's been later I haven't forgot him saying that to me he might have forgot about it 10 minutes later but he gave me some hope and gave me some encouragement and so I give it up to any youth three coach that that coaches in a positive way um that makes a difference in young people's lives and I love it Kenny you went you know you've got a great Sports background give me something I played Bantam League actually even though I was a whand guy I played in Franklin because Whitland only had two teams at the time an A and A B team so I came down here and played for a guy named Bill dos great guy had a few Whitland kids on it some some good Franklin kids on it and we were the Colts and I ended up playing five years down here in the BAM League system and he'd bring us watermelon we it was a blast we had fun it was as much fun as I can remember we played down the old where there's a dog park now in a in a skate park right down in there they had a couple softball fields that they turned into bam league fields so that was always fun uh and now I get to watch you know I got to coach my son in in Bantam League at Whitland and that was a last coaching against his buddies and all that and and now I get to watch my grandson play B league so it's an important part of development and and uh some of these High School coaches are helping with the Bantam program too so they're going all working real jobs and going to coach and then coaching some more at night so hats off to them a amen good point about that and you're right I mean Franklin's defensive staff is coaching yeah as well as offense uh she coach Mayfield So yeah appreciate appreciate the text there coach Barber so few you they are still on uh the girls soccer game on on September 12th will be broadcast and the September 12th what was that underneath there uh whatever and uh we'll be back here again next Friday for good conference game with Martinsville really good squad I think they're beating Bloomington South right now I think it's Perry Meridian oh Perry Meridian next week yeah yep I'm I'm going to have to miss the third home game that you were talking about Martinsville I believe we play that's probably it the 20th I have to head out to that Golden Colorado where you you and I went 3 years ago I've got to go to a wedding for my niece out there have to miss a Friday night game who who gets married on a Thursday night during football season I I told all the guys that I coach yeah gentlemen you do not get married in the fall unless your fiance says we're getting married in the fall then you got to get married in the fall but or it's a bye at least at least a bye you know what I got married on a weekend that was in between the AFC and NFC Championship game and the Super Bowl there was no game at we oh good call Susan I tell you she was she was all about that well she runs the show so whatever was best for as does Cindy in your household Y no doubt about it we married well [Music] y well we're watching you know I Mr Dodie athletic director he's on his golf cart he it's it's being an athletic director during situations like this it's it's not easy he's earning his his uh stub tonight with all the work that he's got to do keeping things organized he's done a great job I mean we had nice job with the food for everybody here in the Press Box food and drink uh there's always a nice section with teachers and administrators that they serve food down tailgate is great um taking care of the visiting team and the officials making sure that ambulances are here just making sure everything goes off without a hitch uh hats off to athletic director Dodie there's a bus leaving I hope that's not Mount Vernon leaving on us or at least tell us if they are unless maybe their cheerleader said we're going home we' got enough you know it could be we're watching them exit out the parking lot on the south end of there's a couple buses still here but yeah I I would imagine I know they brought three Ken I saw them come in and you're right one of them had the cheerleaders and all that so I I bet uh they are only the Hardy is going to hang around for this one it looks like yeah and I I think we might if when we resume we might be the only fans in the stands you know oh mom and dads will be back mom and dads will be back yeah I'm looking at there there's still quite a lot of cars in the parking lot y who knows what they're doing out there in the car but yeah well they're listening us you know that maybe somebody will make a White Castle Run for us we were going to have a sack of the night during the first sack we were going to partake into the into the White Castles no doubt um we do have a listener in the northernmost island of Japan Yoshi my friend has our friend has texted us and said uh can't really understand his Japanese but I I think he's saying you guys are doing a great job that's must be what it is it was all in that Kani and hieroglyphics I couldn't understand I don't know good guy you know I didn't even know the head football in Japan when I got offered a job to coach over there but we did we moved twice to Tokyo Japan and spent four years over there it was great experience you know what I learned Leed matter of fact a great coach by the name of Denny P Speedway High School Denny coach for a number of years he's in the Football Hall of Fame and he was head coach at Speedway at the time when I was coaching in Japan and I had just finished my final year there and he said Leonard what did you learn by coaching football in Japan I thought man that's a great question if I had to narrow it down what did I learn I learned three things can number one there are great people everywhere some of those ja these people treated us so well they were so nice number two there's different ways of doing things they they just things that you wouldn't think of why do they do that in their culture uh but there I learned hey everything that's done our way here in America might not be done somewhere else that was good experience for me to go overseas and number three never take for granted being an American and uh we' got something special here that we've got to keep going matter of fact I got a I got a shout out to you Ken uh we're up here the wind is swirling it's pouring down rain Lightning's all over just a about 20 minutes ago and Ken notices that as the players left the field the American flag that the players carry out on the field as they take the field and charge you know what the opening kickoff was laying on the ground and everybody's out of the stadium can you notice that flag that had all 50 stars not the kind that had it wasn't Old heminger Flag but Kenny said hey look at the flag on the ground and Kenny walked out of this Press Box still kind of drizzling rain and he went down there and picked that thing up and it secured it so you're great American kers no we we won't get political on this on this uh oh we're not broadcast but you're right you're not a good American you're a great American we need more great Americans absolutely and that's what this Sport and in Collegiate Athletics we're trying to teach great teamwork and you know you don't always win you got to play with class and play with sportsmanship and be respectful that's a great thing about football it just there's 10 10 guys not doing they're doing their job no one's recognizing we're not announcing their names but if they don't do their job then then the the grace and Bets of the world don't get the glory because because the guys aren't blocking or or you're not holding up your man so the linebacker can make the tackle or whatever so it's a great game it teaches a lot right now it's teaching us patience hopefully I do see some Mount Vernon coaches standing outside now so maybe that's a better sign that they're they haven't left us well I had a sign on my cell phone that popped up it said bedtime reminder uh I'm going to have to push that button off it looks like we're going to be here a while Canon yep I just hope it doesn't throw off my golf game I'm supposed to play at 8:15 in the morning and if I don't get my rest uh it may be an ugly score uglier than even today's so well you you play with the left-handed clubs I don't know how you do that well right-handed was too easy so I switched over to left-handed I got you you know I I play golf once or twice a week with a group um couple High School football coaches one on the Franklin staff Mike McClure one on the Ron colie staff former head football coach here at Franklin High School Roger Dodson and then ch gang member Kevin Albright we have a blast I I laugh so much at Mike mccc's expense uh but uh you know going going back to the feelings of camaraderie being on a team that that's what I enjoy about about golf it's fun well I'm looking at the radar it keeps kind of popping up and blowing up right around us it's kind of gone from Martinsville now and it's starting to slide looks like we're going to get a little more rain and then I think we got a shot if they waited out that late it it could be 11 11:30 before we get started though so I'm I'm going to looks like the front H you're dreaming I might be dreaming but I there's too much lightning still around so you think so um when we do come back if this does go off tonight I'm looking at the scoreboard and it will be Franklin's ball first and 10 at the plus 44 yd line and uh 749 to go in the fourth quarter Franklin with two timeouts remaining and mount bur with three so yeah Ken is on a phone call right now so I'm kind of the Lone Ranger here talking to you guys anybody else that has my cell phone number that would like to chime in and say hey uh take a break or hey uh talk about this you know Colts have another week before they get going they're going to open at home with the Texans Houston Texans CJ stad and Company against Anthony Richardson company that should be interesting college football tomorrow I know that the Purdue boiler makers are hosting the Indiana State sycamores and uh I believe it's Florida International that is coming to Bloomington FIU is coming to Bloomington to take on the hooers Ken you're back on the air I'm back on house my grandson giving me the update from the locker room he's a ball boy and he said coach call Mr Dodie and Mr Davis are heading over to Mount Vernon I think they're over in their locker room talking about it looking at the radar I'm trying to make a decision so sounds like some kind of peace treaty going on something you know um played in the Fieldhouse let's finish this in the [Music] Fieldhouse interesting big college games tomorrow right yeah yeah and uh Clemson Georgia how about that uh Sunday night I thought I I read where you know it's it's USC and LSU I'm not sure where they're playing how about Blake Blake are student why don't you find that out for us yeah you know that's that's a te of a match up with really no no pro games obviously so that's kind of the the show oh they're playing in Las Vegas woo where the Raiders play Blake says Thank You Blake yeah fantastic neutral close to Purdue play tomorrow Purdue host the sycamores Y Kurt mallerie head coach did you see that story where Kurt mallerie who's the head coach at IND Indiana State uh whose father was Bill mallerie the coach at IU back in the day who's the tight end mallerie is that his brother that is relation it is it is uh Kurt mallerie's brother's son I believe okay but anyway Kurt mallerie the coach of Indiana State's daughter who is a soccer player at terot South she had to come in in reserve to be the kicker because the starting kicker for the team a a a boy was injured and so she came off of the soccer field to kick and just that was last week against Playfield and just neat family the mallerie family is just so much Rich tradition in Indiana football yep need to see his daughter and a great interview that she she conducted I I just did see a bunch of more lightning so you know I just saw Mr Dodie get back in his cart heading back this way so we may hear something soon yeah I mean it's 10:20 six by my golf watch here and uh that would at least delayed another half an hour based on the lightning that I saw I guess we'll just wait to hear back from Maddox your grandson feed us all the information we got the scoop he just made a couple trades on his fantasy football team too I saw so that's something I I really haven't been in since about 1985 I used to be the commissioner of our league when I was a graduate assistant at depa everything was done by hand and that was so much fun uh but uh now it's really progressed I just I just have never gotten into I don't pay attention long enough to so I don't know when to trade when there's by weeks and all that so I'm not very good at it but my grandson wanted to have a league so we're having a league and you know what the good thing that it does bring bring some family fellowship time you watch some other players that you wouldn't watch I only watch the Colts most of the time but I'll watch a little bit more I [Music] guess well we got to remember that these Athletics that we provide it's part of the educational experience for these students and we know that the teachers and guidance counselors they all do a great job in the classrooms and whatnot but we do believe that some of the these lessons that they're learning on the fields and the courts just add something very very special to the educational experience and uh learning patience right now K those those guys in the locker rooms on both sets of locker rooms I mean they're just sitting there and they're you know they're it's Fellowship time with their friends but how they're going to they've got to prepare their minds for okay when we come out we got to be ready to play I mean we got a great game going here yeah one possession game is going to be going to be decided within the last 7 minutes and 49 minutes per second so y if it's if if our scoreboards right and I don't even remember I'm going to have to maybe look on the video if we have the ball or well we're looking at the scoreboard we've talked about that it's first and 10 Franklin at the plus 44 yd line going heading north uh with only 44 yards to go for Touchdown so uh yeah yeah I'm wondering I'm looking at the the screen here for you those are watching at home and you know just just looking at our conf schools here in the Midstate can he refresh my memory Decor Central was playing new palal they were tied and they were in a lightning to late 21 Martinsville was with Bloomington South marville was winning how about Playfield who are they competing against was it it wasn't Harrison was it I think it was ter hook South maybe at Harrison I don't know Tyler bless the head coach over there playing field was one of one of the players that we coached at Franklin College obviously his father Mark bless Indiana Football Hall of Fame member this year matter of fact I threw Mark bless a touchdown pass in high school did you know that Ken the bad thing was I didn't know who he was he played for Greenwood I played for Speedway and he caught a he intercepted the screen pass and took it the distance and I didn't know him at all I was mad at him then but uh he's now one one of the great friends were one of the great people so scoreboards wrong Mount Vernon has the ball on about the 40 m Le has the ball cuz they're just now pulling everybody off seven so they've got the football on the wrong side well shame on them over there on the other side of our Press Box Booth we have to Blake go get them right if you will Kenny are you sure about the video on that I'm 100% sure you know what whatever you know we've got time to have some fun with them over there saying well Randy pce thank you for your text appreciate that buddy yeah we're trying to have some fun glad you're still listening good friends in the in the community again there's people actually listening to us right now I know surely you have something better today surely I love it oh this is great we have you know we ought to do some predictions and things like that a people could call in you know score or you know what's going to happen on this drive we we got things to give away I've got I've got like a several at home like free oven mitts you know something like that I that's something like out of the movie The Jerk from 19 maybe you could promise Susan would cook him a meal or something on your new deck on your new deck with your TV on the deck they could watch next week's game on your deck Susan would be serving him call Mike's phone number now if you're listening fourth caller gets a free meal at Mike's next Friday fourth might you make challenge at like 82nd caller or something we'll never get to 8C col this coach call Walker now that yeah yeah coming back from the peace treaty with Coach Lighty the head coach for Mount Vernon coach Li his father was the head coach at castle and a great one and uh Vince the head coach at Mount Vernon was a quarterback on a state championship team down there in 199 Four Season I believe and uh after that Vince went walked on at IU played linebacker for coach mallerie for a couple years well anyway got into coaching and has spent the majority of his career at Hamilton Southeastern as an assistant but became uh became the head coach at Mount Vernon when Mike kersner left three or four years ago to go to Warren Central where Mike kushner's Alma Moder and uh Vince first year took a Mount Vernon to the State title and has run a very solid program with a bunch of great coaches so this is a fun game to watch with two two very well coach teams both teams have some mistakes here second we got some movement in the Mount Vernon locker room looks like they're carrying their gear but I don't I think looks like they're walking to the bus but can't see them there looks like they're Gathering their gear on the sideline too let's see if they head towards the bus the gate's over that way too so it's hard to tell from this angle it appears based on the move movements we see that uh we went on forfeit no I don't know what that means that that the game will either be postponed why don't you reach out to Maddox see what he knows your grandson he's down there in the thick of it with the ball boys we got Franklin has about six ball boys that you know they're all about sixth graders and they do a nice job they have fun you can tell that they love throwing the ball and playing a little pickup game games when when possible they're definitely getting on the bus we are poping till noon tomorrow I'm playing golf at 8:15 hey athletic director Dodie is in the Press Box we we appreciate the job you're doing I just heard you overheard you say that the game will be at noon tomorrow here at Franklin we're going to finish these 7 Minutes 49 seconds and if you could hear him it's 7:49 to go I say that one more time no freshman no oh man okay so all those folks I'm sure they'll be contacted through email or whatnot and hopefully the parents are paying attention that all the Freshman games and JV games have been cancelled for tomorrow because the varsity game needs to be replayed back here tomorrow at noon uh so there you go sports fans and I guess with that Ken we could we could sign I'm having fun I could stay here and do this another it's your bedtime Mike it's time to go time to go hey we loved you thank you for tuning in take care everybody have a great night byebye
