after cruising past two familiar opponents a Jessica pegga eased into the fourth round of Thea us Opa after beating someone she'd never faced before Jessica boozes pegula continued her perfect record at the 2024 US Open by winning in straight sets 63 63 with the number six seed yet to go behind in the competition boozes 21 had chances to test a Pega but the veteran made sure she got the basics right to seal her place in the next round I thought I just played solid pegula said after reaching the fourth round where she will face either Diane AER or Sora iry I didn't do anything crazy or that amazing I think I was just consistent I was proud of that in the previous two rounds pegula had faced fellow Americans Shelby Rogers and Sophia Canan but bues is a relatively new face on the tour despite being a major favorite to win the match pegula knew not to take risks due to the uncertainty of her opponent you just have no idea especially with the roof closed pegula said noting that it was closed after they warmed up which also changed the mood there's a lot of variables you're not aware of pegula has always been a consistent Challenger and Majors although despite the stunning resume she hasn't made it past the quarterfinals in any of them but something looks different at the US Open and there's a growing belief amongst the crowd that pegula could potentially go all the way the American has looked focused and ruthless but despite a clear Improvement to her game she claims nothing has changed in her daily routine nothing has changed really pegula said I'm always constantly working on Little Things there's so many good players out there if you don't work on the little things that can get away from you pegula said ahead of the tournament that it's her dream to win a grand slam but she may have to get past world number one I biotic to do so at the US Open this year if both players continue to win they'll meet in the quarterfinals and with how both are playing it's looking increasingly likely pegula is remaining focused but she admitted it's constantly on her mind and believes is would be the ultimate reward for all her hard work it would be awesome it would be freaking awesome if I won a grand slam pular during Us open media day I definitely allow myself to dream I always have since I was a kid so I think you have to take yourself to those moments it would be incredible and I think it would be a lot of not like relief but it's just like a reward for all the hard work being able to come through two weeks of a slam there are so many challenges you're overcoming in those two weeks so I think it would just be a relief to be able to overcome those challenges I think that's kind of what it is and yeah I would love to be able to say that I accomplished
