braden uh you know coming off a good uh season named preseason's usa special teams player of the year what does that honor mean to you just pretty much shows how good my teammates are with me i've got a really good long snapper really good holder and uh and that's a as much on them as it is on me so it's a it's a lot of fun it's high expectations but uh it's good you know it sounds like it's been kind of a long off season for you a little bit rough you know how are things going after the uh you know procedure good man i uh the double hip surgery was tough and definitely something that i wasn't looking forward to but um initially kind of conversations where i wouldn't be back to october or november and uh i'm back kicking now so i mean things are going good and we're just trying to progress a day in day out and keep moving with it basically when did you um go through that uh the first surgery i had was like in february and the second one is in april or something like that um so not too long ago but then again long enough you know when did you know that was something that you were gonna need to get done uh i kind of had messed up hips my whole career and uh it kind of got to the point where it was just kind of bothering me a little bit so i just decided to take the chance and go ahead and go through with it because of the longevity obviously the goals of playing the nfl and you know past college and i think without that surgery it's gonna be extremely difficult what kind of recovery is that like what's the process like what kind of you know treatment did you have to go through or workouts and that kind of thing lots and lots of hours in the training room that's for sure um lots of icing and just making sure that i limit when i'm back to kicking limiting my reps um i didn't practice today we're kind of doing a day on day off kind of thing trying to limit my reps and see how that goes but slowly just get back into it basically be a pro essentially is how it is take care of your body we've all kicked i've kicked a lot i've been in college for five years you know i should have been able to do it enough and it's a lot of mental reps now and a lot of taking care of my body and trying to treat everything like pros how long have you been able to kick after that uh i just started kicking two three weeks ago so i'm i'm really just getting right back into it and kind of back to the whole scheme of things so you're probably a little rusty to have those first couple kicks go afterwards a lot better than i expected especially considering it uh it wasn't supposed to be until october but still a lot of work to do and working every day at it you know what kind of distances are you going from at this point is it just kind of keeping it kind of low and easy now or i guess where are you at um i would say i'm pretty similar to how it was it's just about being able to to consistently produce that and instead of only being able to hit 15 balls in a practice be able to hit 30 35 40 and just kind of more prolonging the word right now but basically making sure that i can do it over and over again distance isn't necessarily a huge issue it's a little bit shorter right now um [Music] [Music] it's great um competition is competition breeds good athletes i think i'd be a fool saying we're not competing or he's not competing or i'm not competing it's one of those things where i'm going to compete until i'm done with the sport i'm going to compete at the next level i'm going to compete tomorrow i'm going to compete every day in and out and and iron sharpens iron that's what they say all the time if you don't want to go against the best then you're doing it wrong if you just want the easy way out and luckily enough corey and even the new freshman kid that we got lucas they're both very very good at what they do so it makes me better and makes them better
