and so when you look at that right now the Orioles have the best record and the Yankees are tied for the best record in all of baseball Guardians sit a half game out same with the Philadelphia Phillies but then you're looking even in the National League the Brew Crew are 67 and 50 the Dodgers are 69 and 49 tied with the Phillies and then the Astros guys are 62 and 55 and all of a sudden them and Seattle are a top of the AL West and guys this is one thing I'll say it is wide open this year there's no doubt about it but if there's one team that I continue to say is until they are yep vanquished from the postseason the Houston Astros in my mind are going to be the team to beat come the American League playoffs because of their track record you can't discredit that Zach I see you moving over there any thoughts to what I just said yeah this it just we talked about we we asked so many people about this we've asked kirchin we've asked kabus like any media person I feel like we've asked a million times at the beginning of the Season hey Astros are off to a horrible start this isn't it right like they're gonna come back and every single one of them was like listen if there's one team that you cannot count out that will always that annoying pest that no matter how many times you think you got rid of them no matter how many times you called the Exterminator they're gonna find their way back in the dance and that's exactly what's happening right now I agree I think that the Astros somehow someway are the biggest threat in the American League because one they've been there done that multiple times these players that lead that team have been there they've won they know what it takes and in the playoffs that is massive they have a great pitching staff they have incredible hitters it this Astros team if they get hot in the playoffs it doesn't surprise me at all if they take it all well and here's the thing right like you look at you look at Major League Baseball and I mean this in the nicest way we're looking at the parody there's no team right now in that format where if you're an Orioles fan in the American League besides Houston that you feel like you got a series with Seattle you feel like you can beat Seattle you think you can you can have the Guardians are Scrappy that's a team that the Orioles might have um you know to to to Vanquish some of their own demons against Cleveland because Cleveland really was putting it to them the Orioles can compete with Cleveland and the Yankees but the one team that just continues to just never go away in big moments is Houston so that's one I'm looking to eye and right now guys between them and Seattle they're two and a half out of a wild card spot and ironically um it's it's just the team that has the we're talking about experience with the team Houston has the most experience you remember when people were worrying about framber Valdez he almost threw the no hitter the other day yeah he's still on that team they still have Altuve they have Alvarez they have guys that just live for the moment and that's something that's hard to to be able to discredit any time yeah and just real fast we want to talk about players that live for the moment you nailed it right there yordon Alvarez is it me or does it feel like at least twice a playoffs twice every year during the playoffs yordon comes up as the go-ahead run and without fail that ball is going into the stands like clockwork every year the dude is as clutch as clutch can get yeah and slowly right now by the way Houston Seattle are actually playing some of the best ball in all baseball actually they are one of the three hottest teams in baseball the Cubs have won four in a row uh in the National League which is the most longest winning streak currently the current longest winning streak in the National League is four games Seattle also has four in the American League but then the team that has the highest winning streak at the current moment Houston Astros have won five in a row and are surging at the right time until they're out of it you know they're the team to beat just touching on what they've done over I mean it you don't need me to say it but since 2017 they have have been to at least the AL championship series every single year and they've won two World Series uh in that span you can say what you want about them you know the controversy and whatnot but they have the experience they have the players they still are the team to beat when it comes to an American League postseason if your team is facing them they are on the other side of the Dugout there's going to be some some nerves there for their fan base that that's a team you you don't usually want to see in a postseason and to get to a World Series you're probably going to have to get through Houston because took the hottest team in baseball to beat him last season with the Texas Rangers and what did they do they ended up winning it all so that's what it's probably going to take this season again the Houston Astros don't seem like they're going anywhere and uh they still are the team to beat when it comes to the postseason for for sure and know this is the fun time for people maybe not for all you know Die Hard fans of specific teams right Kev I know that a lot of people with the Orioles the last few nights pull out your hair and a tough two to1 loss it feels like every game's going to matter but whether you win the division or not it's not the end all here Texas was a wild card team they got hot they went on the world World Series Houston's in that category they don't care what's going to happen they just need to get in and actually specifically on that wild card spot like I said Seattle and Houston now they are tied to top the division in the AL West but now they only sit two and a half games out of a wild card spot so they're right where they want to be it's it seems to me like that Houston we talk about getting over the hump getting to a World Series feels like football and baseball are going to correlate here because for a team in the AFC to get to a Super Bowl it always seems like no matter how good or or bad the Kansas City Chiefs seem they still got Patrick Mahomes on their team and that's that's the team to beat when it comes to the playoffs and football well Pat Patriots were like that too ex exactly but right now it's Mahomes it it is Mahomes right now and in baseball right now you got to get past the Astros plain and simple to get to a World Series I mean it's inevitable they're just there and they're always lurking and and despite how they begin in the regular season seems like they're always going to be there right there at the end yep you can you can hate Houston all you want you can hate them for their pass you can hate them for the cheating scandal and rightfully they deserve hate for that no doubt about it but at this point time year after year they're the team that's still in it
