two workers died at the airport after a tie explosion let's get into it an Atlanta maintenance facility left two workers dead Crews responded to a reported Tire explosion near the Hartsfield Jackson International Airport one other person was injured in a statement the company offered its support to the family members of the victims and says it will conduct a full investigation CBS News correspondent Manuel borquez is in Atlanta with the latest what do we know about what happened that's right Delta confirming within the last half hour that this accident happened at a maintenance uh hanger in this area of Hartfield Jackson International Airport where we are standing as you mentioned the statement from Delta confirming that two of the tech op maintenance workers were killed and another one was seriously injured and taken to the hospital uh the airline at this point is still investigating and not giving too many details about exactly what kind of accident happened there but they did note that it happened in the ti and break shop as they're investigating the union representing this type of Airline worker issued a statement saying we stand in unity with Delta workers during this difficult time and they're calling on Delta and relevant authorities to quickly launch a thorough investigation into exactly what happened there so that is happening right now the very initial stages of trying to figure out what went wrong this is so tragic what is the scene like right now at the airport or any flights being impacted yeah despite what the most horrific part of this is the loss of life uh where this happened is a area away from passengers really away from the main part of any terminals so there aren't any impacts at this point to passenger related activities here at Hartfield Jackson International Airport uh we just looked at the board uh no real delays caused by this so very much contained to just the tech Ops area for Delta Airlines wow imagine just leaving out your house going to work not knowing that this would be your last day at work and your last time leaving out of your house this is just crazy my condolences to the family I hope the family could find peace at this time and hopefully with more investigation we can know what really happened let me know what you guys think
