[Music] we got some Dolphins roster moves to break down here on the show today I am Nick Roff this is dolphins today by Chad Sports waiver wire claims have gone through Miami made one claim that we will talk about it is a wide receiver which we did expect Miami to add to that position group at least in some form after the initial 53 man roster was revealed to only have four players on it and Tyreek Hill Jaylen aad Braxton baros and Malik Washington but we'll also talk about some of the players Miami did not claim and if they could still go out and sign some of other players we'll also go over the initial six player signed to the Dolphins practice squad because you get up to 16 so there's still 10 spots available all right the one claim that Miami ended up making is wide receiver Grant Duos who is a former Green Bay Packer and a former UNC Charlotte 49er Grant is going to be added to this 53 man roster and I actually kind of have a sneaky feeling he could play a factor on this team throughout the entire year due to his value on special teams and his ability to block yes he is a excellent blocker at least he displayed the ability to do so during training camp over the past two seasons with the Green Bay Packers we'll discuss more on him in a second but like the video to welcome the newest Miami Dolphin to the roster if Grant is just searching up his name on YouTube and stumbles across this video I want him to know that the Dolphins fans are welcoming him with open arms so hit that thumbs up icon to welcome Grant deos to the reactive roster all right as we get into deos here he is a former seventh round pick from UNC Charlotte by the Green Bay Packers he has not played in a regular season game in his career he was elevated for just one it was week 17 in 2023 and then in 2024 he ended up playing the preseason with Green Bay tallied five receptions 66 yards and no touchdown so he has not been the most effective player in the preseason putting up big time numbers but one thing that he has been able to display when I watch the film and watch some highlights on the young man he is someone who is not afraid to get his hands dirty in the Run blocking game there was a couple plays that I saw him come across the formation in motion and they actually had HIM lead block through a hole created in the right tackle Right Guard opening and have Grant gun right through there to go hit a linebacker safety or Corner coming down so he's someone that isn't afraid to get in the blocking mix which will fit really well in the dolphin system of constant motion and having your wide receivers block but he also is someone who gives maximum effort on special teams think he could be someone that is your Gunner on punt coverage right away for this Dolphins roster I don't think he's going to be someone that goes out out there and lights it up for six catches and 70 yards during the regular season but he will do the little things correctly and I think he will stick on this roster through at least the first four games of the regular season until River catcraft and Odell Beckham Jr are eligible to return that's my professional opinion if you think that of anything here but I am curious to see if the Dolphins add another wide receiver because the roster currently sits at five wide receivers now it's Grant deos it's Tyreek Hill Jaylen Wad braxon baros and Malik was Wasington now they do have to make a corresponding move after claiming Grant cuz he goes right to the 53 man if you claim someone off waivers so I'm not sure who it is as of filming this we want to get this video right out for you guys breaking down the news and the practice squad signings so I'm unsure of who the Dolphins ended up releasing off the initial 53 man if I had to give a projection it could be a udfa potentially Tanner Connor is that fourth tight end potentially Andrew Meyer who is that 10th offensive lineman the udfa out of UTEP I think those two are probably the most likely kind of candidates to get released from this initial 53 man roster but we'll let you know when that decision is ultimately made but it is curious to see if they will try to go out and add a big time playmaker like caderas Tony or other wide receivers still available but let me know do you like the claim of Grant deos type why for yes or type n for no you might not have ever heard of him I actually do remember hearing his name and talking about him during the 2023 draft cycle not going to act like he's some Superstar wide receiver that's going to make the biggest difference in the world but he will be able to do some nice things for Miami and have a role at least on special teams all let's go over some of the practice squad moves that Miami made and I think the most notable one is getting Nick Needum into the practice squad I thought NM was someone that was going to get a lot of interest from other teams around the NFL evidently that's not the case because he did not get waiver claimed and he was able to just sign with Miami to theid practice squad he's been with the dolphins since 2019 a success story out of UTEP as he was on this roster for five straight years as a udfa and he got a lot of PT throughout those five seasons and I think it's very important and big for the Dolphins to get Nick knom back on this team you might say why is it important well with the cornerback history that Miami has and its veterans with Kendall Fuller Jaylen Ramsey like if one of those guys gets banged up at least this coaching staff in front office has the confidence in elevating Nick Needum from the practice squad to the active roster if one of those guys goes on IR to start the season or gets hurt during the beginning of the season because they know Nick has been here for a while he knows what is expected in the organization and they know what he's about as a person and someone on the football field so having that insurance to be on your practice squad is really really good I'm just now hoping at least to this point another team doesn't realize that and sign Nick need him off their practice Squad because you could sign anyone off another team's practice squad as long as you're giving him a 53 man roster spot another guy adding to the P squad for Miami wide receiver Eric azuk Kama and I'm actually pretty ecstatic about this one as well I was shocked that he ended up getting released because I thought they were going to carry five wide receivers on the initial 53 they evidently didn't then they claimed Grant Duos who obviously they like more than Eric auk Kama But Eric is dealing with those injuries and always has but I am a big fan of keeping him around because with his speed his agility and his size at being 6'2 it makes him still a project and sure we're probably running out of years in time to consider this someone who can eventually make an impact on this team it's probably this year or next year and that's it but euk camo who has been on this team before I would trust to be a fifth wide receiver on this Dolphins team remains in the building so if they don't like what they've seen from Brax and baros or they end up not liking the return on investment with claiming rant the Bose maybe they just say all right we got Eric auk on the practice squad he's rehabbing from hury he's fully healthy and we'll add him to the 53 man roster all make sure you are subscribed to the channel because we are breaking down Miami Dolphins news on a daily basis and any move Miami makes we will have you covered practice squad signings releases doesn't matter we have it all here at the channel we work extremely hard to make sure you're covered on everything the Dolphins do so hit that sub button all right four more practice Squad people to mention here we'll start with a udfa from 2024 Hayden Ruchi he is a tight end from Wisconsin who I was actually very impressed with in the preseason I think he's someone that flashes long-term um potential to be a fullback yeah you heard me not even tight end which is his natural position sure he's got decent hands and he can run some routes but I think he's more well known for being a terrific Blocker in the Run game and if Alec inold is out of the roster after this year and potentially could retire I could see Hayden Ruchi being on the P squad for a year and then taking over that role we know he could catch the ball he had that nice 20-yard touchdown on a little seam route from Skyler Thompson in the final preseason game not an elite athlete but he can block he's physical and if you have him as your fullback like you can trust him to catch it out of the back field as well and run some routes I think Ruchi has been someone that I've labeled as a fullback replacement long term ever since they signed him after the NFL draft in April I still believe this could be the case I like keeping him around Jonathan Harris is also still on the practice squad or at least coming to the practice squad a veteran defensive tackle is very interesting um with the dolphins keeping five defensive lineman Bonito Jones Um Zack seeler clas Campbell Brandon paly um Deshawn hand it makes sense to keep Harris around if he was willing and not able to get a 53 man roster Spot somewhere else um it just makes sense especially with Bonito Jones being banged up who knows if he's going to be available week one if and if he's in active maybe Harris gets the call up and elevation for that first game couple more to still get to here but make sure you are representing the Miami Dolphins in that week one game against the Jacksonville Jaguars with some Dolphins jerseys it does not matter who you're repping but as long as you're repping the aqua and orange you're always going to be good Ramsay Hill Tua Phillips doesn't matter get your jersey today any size any color any player chatsports.com dophins jersey is the link it will be in the description and comments of today's video make sure you do it now because if you order today you might still be able to get it before week one in a week and a half grab your Dolphins jerseys today a couple other practice squad guys that we do need to talk about Jordan Colbert the safety who was a udfa in this past 2024 NFL draft out of Rhode Island and then dcoin Jackson the linebacker who I am actually signed pretty late in training camp from Jacksonville after he was waved he ultimately stays with the practice squad in Miami those are the six signings as of now like I mentioned earlier you get 16 so there's 10 available spots that Miami can go out and still get which is why we wanted to break down the initial six and then come back with a video later on with the other 10 and I'll tell you with those other 10 I'd like to see them add another wide receiver I'd like to see them also add a quarterback to this practice squad a lot of people speculated that Mike White after being released might just go to the Dolphins practice squad he's a Traer and he went to the Buffalo Bills practice squad if you didn't like Mike White before I can't imagine you like him now I can tell you what I despise Mike White I hope he is a good person but at least in the NFL terms not a big fan of Mike White up to this point um due to the fact that he did go to the Buffalo Bills hopefully he's not trading our secrets that would be quite frustrating but with that being said I do think there are some people available in free agency and who didn't get claimed off waivers that could really benefit this Miami Dolphins practice squad and give the Dolphins some insurance potentially for a week one or week two elevation some of the wide receivers available cadarius Tony didn't get claimed he's still out there I think he'd be someone who could really thrive in this dolphin system yes I know he has dropped problems and off the field issues but he is so Dynamic with the ball in his hands and in space and I feel like he would flourish in this Dolphins offense that is so heavy on motion and space and with the ball in your hands I think he would work really well chosen Anderson someone who's been on this team last year I think he makes a lot of sense Paris Campbell might be cooked but either way good slot guy to potentially fill in next to Wadd and Hill Russell Gage and Hunter Renfro two other veterans that can play in the slot can play outside these these are just practice squad guys not asking you to go out there and give me 50 snaps on offense in week one but to give you at least a little bit of insurance a veteran guy that you can trust knows what to do in that stage in that setting of a week one NFL football game I think it raises my attention with the quarterbacks on the other hand these are the top five and Tyler Huntley technically is not aaable right now it would have to be a trade but after the Browns kept four it's very evident they were going to get rid of one and they announced Dorian Thompson Robinson was on the roster yesterday so it was between Winston and Huntley and this morning Jordan Schultz reported that there is been no discussions on a jamus Winston trade which means they are probably trying to trade Tyler Huntley I think Miami yes you'd have to cut someone to add him to the 53 man roster but I would love to get Tyler Huntley in this room I think he's better than Skyler Thompson Ryan tanhill is clearly better than Skyler Thompson these other three of subjective Brett rien CJ bethard and Nate subfield um Brett rippen's probably returning to Chicago unless you offer him a 53 man roster spot bethard and subfield could be practice squid guys um bethard was released by the Jags or Niners one of the two I can't remember to be honest with a injury settlement so if he gets healthy on the Dolphins practice squad could be a good fit in McDaniel system which comes from San Francisco and then Knight subfield as well same type of deal as Beth all right that's going to do it for this episode of dolphins today make sure you are subscribed to the channel because if the Dolphins do add a player to the 53 man roster or continue to make practice squad moves which we expect them to do over the next 24 hours we will have you covered with more videos on on the Dolphins so hit that sub button and I'll see you then [Music]
