it's an exciting time in women's hockey it's a new era of women's hockey we finally have the highly anticipated announcement of the six new pwhl team names and logos and obviously we want to rank them this is a carefully selected group of individuals for this board and together we are going to come up with a ranking of which pwhl logo is our least favorite two most favorite and listen we know it's not an easy job to make team names no it's hard and we knew that everyone was gonna kind of probably hate them whatever they were when they first came out because these things take some time to get used to change is tough especially when the original 6 pwhl jerseys like really started to grow on me to the point that Utah copied them and they and they copied uh the winipeg ice so true shout out Winnipeg ice Utah look at your own homework we're going to take a look at all six pwhl names and logos today and we will decide which one is our favorite side we'll discuss we'll discuss some discussion all right we'll start with the Boston Fleet nautical Vibes apparently the bee is forward leaning to remind us kind of of a sail catching wind uh a tie of Boston's Rich Maritime history the bee is meant to be a sideways anchor so if you look at it that way just honestly just realize that when you yeah and then inside there's supposed to be waves yeah I actually the more the more we dissect the details of this one the more cool I think it is this is one of the stronger ones already off the HW this is also where it's going to start one line of critique that I probably will have for all of them when there's certain cities there are color combinations that I immediately I tie to them that's your city's colors and I don't necessarily think of that for Boston obviously I'm thinking like Bruins colors are so it'll take time to get used to no allegiance to the Celtics I don't like the Celtics what they going to say now what they going say now but but you're right but maybe again maybe if it was more Celtic green cuz I actually don't even think of Celtics when I look at this but either way I like it still it's one of the stronger ones you know what actually it's kind of cool reminds me of the big wall at Fenway a little bit it does the green monster monster the big one the CEST oh my goodness what's that baseball guy we're into the logo I think that we've decided unanimously that we're pretty into the logo love the how do you guys feel about the name though the fleet that's going to have to grow on me more what is the I get it I not like a fleet of ships like a bunch of ships am I I hope I'm right in saying a bunch of ships together is a fleet so I like it because it's a play on Boston like the Boston Harbor Boston we also think of water when it comes to Boston right like I think they're playing on the history of the city which works for the team I get why you're thrown off if you're a hockey fan looking at these colors like there's nothing about the Bruins that screams water that screams green at all but if you're looking at the history of the City I feel like this clocks a nice name too it's catchy the fleet the fleet yeah yeah like anchored in Heritage sailing toward Victory I've never been to Boston and I feel like I'd be able to kind of touch on it a little more if I was there I don't know I can't may maybe I'm wrong I just like you could feel the maritime history a little bit more deeply you definitely wouldn't have called it the green big wall yeah exactly and and R is just like oh you know like there's the harbor front it's like I I I don't know much about that that's fair yeah they have we can conf we've evaluated I think we've discussed that one I I like what they've got going on there next up Minnesota Frost okay let me give you the information first G2 yes it's a gator it looks like g g Gatorade Frost absolute G yeah so it's supposed to give sharp angular icicle Vibes me yeah meant to embrace the cold of Minnesota connection to hockey the state has the F has kind of different dimensions in it to show the depth of winter depth of electrolytes yeah yeah okay so I like the name the logo as soon as we went into morning meeting and Jesse said it reminded him of the Gatorade logo I was like sorry damn no no but you're right it reminds me of going to actually get frosties from your local think you're thinking like yeah I'm thinking of just like the icebergs that you might get you know if you go to 7-Eleven or something not sponsored but not shout out um you're just sponsored not shout out you're worse than Jesse with that all this critique by the way I actually think it looks cool and I actually do like the name Frost there's so much you could do with frost you're not into it yeah would you AG do you like the purple though at least purple always looks sharp I love the purple and they were the Purple People leaders this season they really embraced being purple I thought that they were going to do something with being purple I know Taylor heisy was talking what what did she say to you she said that they should have been maybe been called the rain um I feel like we our team has kind of been like nicknamed The Purple Rain um it's trademarked obviously but that would be one of our best the rain maybe with the crown as the logo oh see the Purple Rain yeah oh but they couldn't do that but also that's the Gatorade player Fier you can't go Fierce you can't go rain it's Tak so right take it I'm wondering how much um push back they had with some of these names when they're coming up with them because a lot of these names like rain is the name of an eorts team in OverWatch yeah and a lot of these Loos do kind of remind me of that Vibe as well like just orts in general Frost is like as close as it gets to rain almost the [Music] Mist that's what it sound that's what it sounded like that's how was PCT pretty close it's precipitation I do like it for the vibe of Minnesota though it's cold AF there like we you know just growing up in Saskatchewan we know how it is an AF okay they hit it on every Mark except for unfortunately for me the kind of looks like a shark or like a harpoon anyways move on a harpoon I don't know if we love that one but we love the name love the we'll continue on yeah the New York Sirens stop it it's meant to evoke reminders of the sound of a go siren it's supposed to embody the team's Drive iconic angular New York letter forms behind the word siren Z and then the reverberating s's on either side are supposed to symbolize the reverberating of a of aorn and the city's constant hum it's a city that never sleeps so that's a that's cool context about this logo and now tell me how you feel about it this looks like a local gym logo I'm just going to it it looks like your local boxing gym or something like that and and then the NY actually kind of reminds me of the one that the Islanders have in their thing they made it into a square I don't know I don't I don't love the logo the name I'm totally fine it's cool I like it but the logo doesn't even really match up with what you described to me like nothing in that looks very New York to me when you're making a team for City like New York there's it just feels like there's potential there you know like there's so much going on and yeah I feel like this one relatively speaking looks a little cheap and it looks like the charl no seriously like it kind of looks like a like a cheap Charlotte Charlotte Hornets logo like that's what I think of when I see it because of the colors before they went back to their proper branding the Charlotte Hornets had a very similar color scheme on one their side logos it actually does look like that but I do like I like the name I think it's a creative name I think the idea of the text reverberating is cuz there is something cool about sirens in New York it's very like N I don't know sir is a different color this is a bit passive for a color too I know I don't want to get too much into like the psychology of choosing certain colors but think of how many teams use this color there's not that many like it's like the Kraken have done that the Mariners as we said very Seattle based things where it's like water and whatnot kind of just makes me feel sleepy and like I need a gym membership but maybe not from this place not going to be that fair with the rankings okay this is probably lower on list as well we're not huge fans of the sirens logo we like the name Logo feels like can I say one thing too all of these might grow on you when you see them on Ice that's just how that works I completely age when you see a uniform you might totally change your opinion on something but that seems unlikely for that yeah they've got an uphill battle Yeah I want to say speaking of uphill battles oh oh the Ottawa charge oh yes okay nobody has better fans I don't think in the pwhl than this Ottawa team they have electric fans and they just got they just got down okay let's look at the logo it's meant to be a tribute to the fans apparently the spinning o is meant to be an object charged with electricity intensity and power and that they say is what their fans bring in I didn't think that when I saw the logo but that's what their fans bring to the barn every night and they do that that Barn is is absolutely electric do they also have cat claws meow it's an O and A C at the same times and the Sparks not kitty claws Jesse uh symbolizing the forward momentum of this Ottawa team on of all I I just got to say it off the Hop here okay where again it's hard to make logos I'm G to keep referencing that I'm not trying to say we can come up with something better but what I am going to say is if you're a hockey fan when you look at this logo what team do you think of right right away Flames it looks like a Flames logo it just does and it feels like if you're going to play in that territory and remind people of other logos and other colors feels Dangerous Game Flames logo might be one of the best logo in the NHL this kind of does just kind of look like a different version in take on it CU it literally is the same colors orange SE I also think that it doesn't even need the Sparks at the end I think it would have been fine without it like to me that makes it look a little like I'm like am I looking at a rake right now or like a Bearpaw from the side looks like a Bearpaw have in little lightning bolts instead like Pikachu or something speaking of video games it kind of looks like I had somebody send me this when I posted it um it looks like wheelie from Kirby so one of the enemies that Kirby sucks up and then becomes if this was Calgary's team it might be kind of cool to pay as to the NHL team but I think it's just made people go ick I don't want to look like Calgary I'm from I'm I'm from Ottawa I got a proud tradition of a lot of different teams yeah yeah I don't know like again all these might grow on you when you see them on a uniform I think so I'm sure they will I do like the O and the C like kind of sure you know that that's actually cool I feel like we don't really see that ever just looks a bit too much like a Flames logo fair enough okay moving on the city we're all currently in right now the Toronto scepter it's a monogram T and S meant to symbolize power strength Precision presence and the orb at the top is meant to symbolize their never ending quest for greatness I like this logo the logo is strong it's strong the logo is strong what's the separation there you don't like the name huh I'm feeling a type of way about the name right now I think just feels like it's a step too far yes they wanted this Royal theme the Royals the the monarchs the Queens scepter just is a little it's a lot in my mouth it's a bit abstract perhaps it's a lot in my mouth and even the way it's spelled scepter it's sep almost though like it looks like it's spelled in French I have never once thought of how sep me neither when I looked at it I was like I didn't think it was spelled like that I I didn't even know what a sep there was that's the least surprising thing it's like that's the right again you're pathetic I actually really like the logo too like I do it on Jersey too people have pointed out the Taylor Swift thing it looks a lot like that Taylor Swift cheerleading uniform I think that might add points for me personally and I absolutely love the colors someone said the TTC so into the colors you think the TTC looks like the TTC the original TTC oh okay I think giveaway potential could be fun like we could have little scepter in our seats yes that's fun I could picture Spooner doing a lot with this the name sounds a bit evil it does sound oh you know it's like Slytherin it's like if this was the if this was Harry Potter it feels like a thing a bad person wants to destroy people scepter no vort had a scepter didn't he he had some kind of something didn't Lord farquad also have one the most notorious movie villain everyone knows yeah huge scepter we got one more left and this one is quite nice the Montreal VTO the symbolism on this one is pretty obvious the FL de Lee in the middle such a nice nod to Quebec itage the hidden m in the middle for Montreal of course I think they knocked it out of the and then this is supposed to be like the wings of Triumph colors are great it's on a home plate too the whole strike zone is right in the logo where you should pitch where you shouldn't no but in all seriousness and I actually did say this on my own Twitter I I think they knocked no they nailed it on a beautiful logo and the jerseys G to be so nice love those colors I just love those colors the logo is incredible too like just think of that as a patch you take that and put on like a ja or whatever would look amazing so because it's a Toronto Montreal thing I'm going to have to bring a little rivalry in the logos here they've done an excellent job of incorporating Art Deco architecture from Montreal where it makes me think we actually have a lot of Royal and Regal themes here going back to Toronto in our city built on our architecture because we're part of the monarchy why didn't they tap into that stuff like there's so many logos and buildings around the city that have that instead of going scepter like interesting who wasn't at the exhibition ground isn't there was it the Wings Victory princess you know on the on the top of the gate there like that's literally where they play well right like I'm available okay but how do you guys feel about the name Le VI like is that just victory what is it okay so just paying homage to the history of of success and Sports in the city it's well they got to win yeah got pressure on next season honestly I like it a lot too it's just I have a comparison game in my head because Lake Canadien was such a historic women's hockey franchise I know that they want want to start completely new with the pwhl and not go back to the wall on any of the old names but somehow I felt like L Ken anden should have stuck around could they have done that like there's no legal issues or anything like they could have just done that they could have done it now you got me think I know it's just compared to what that team was originally as hard but I like it still I do like this everything's great I think the name is like it's not my favorite just because like I French cada come after him no no like the victory it's like but like why are you the victory I don't know they can be victorious yeah I mean they need to be soon they will be they will be mean if your name is something that you aspire to that's okay as well well I think they should have been named the Montreal schwarz's Deli cuz I aspiring to hammer a Schwarz there would have been no right now trademark issues with that at all that would zero Jesse was like they did the best job of all the teams but here's suggestion and throw a sandwich in the logo okay we've talked about all six now I think I think we've established a Vibe on each one now we'll start slotting them in the sixth and our least favorite logo I think has to go to the frost no white is it the frost I don't know you think it's the frost no I I disagree with that I think it's the sirens you think it's the sirens okay and I think it's Ottawa those are the bottom two in my opinion I think it's Ottawa sorry Ottawa I think we got two for Ottawa okay three against one okay no no I I would have gone wi New York oh sorry no no but you guys majority rules because I was you forgot about that one but here's the thing I don't mind the name like actually kind of like the name the the auto charge I'm kind of like eh on the name as well like no no we're just doing logos aren't we I think it's the whole it's got to be the whole thing it's the whole thing I don't hate the aut logo as much as you guys do Hate's too strong of a word I don't hate any of these logos I don't hate it either it's only because it reminds me of Calgary that's annoying me really okay fine I will I will agree with if you're doing names and logos then Ottawa if you guys want to do Ottawa last I could do that the more I look at the the more I look at the siren on and also just like it's New York I just feel like they left something to be desired okay I can agree with that there was so much potential there yeah like there's so many iconic places and things in New York no you're right you're right sorry New York okay fine we're going Ottawa at five though we'll do Ottawa oh they're an easy pick for the okay then obviously the frost at four yeah I think the Frost has to go at four yeah funny enough I think that just means that we kind of like the rest and I like the personally I like the frost one I know I don't mind the frost one either it's the Gatorade comparison that thre me off it more than Boston Toronto and Montreal the Toronto name is going to have to like really grow on me and the more I I was like thinking about how Montreal really went about the symbolism from like their actual City within their their name it felt like they did their homework better a a little bit I'm bringing that rivalry in there I like the frost one a little more so for going in order you like frost more than Toronto I think I like Toronto more than Frost I like Toronto I think I like Toronto you guys can vote that okay I also like Toronto more than Frost okay so then then should we go Boston to Montreal 1 oh we really liked Boston off the top we did like Boston still like Boston Montreal is an easy one to me I battling I don't even think they're battling oh guys we did a good job then at this where's Boston story second number two yeah yeah that's fair fair yeah Boston did a great job like the more I both their local I'm like wow that's a lot of thought went into that one in terms of creativity I think that's number one but I think just like the overall aesthetic Montreal is just the nicest okay that's our list Montreal number one Boston number two Toronto number three Minnesota number four Ottawa number five New York number six but we love all you guys yeah of course no feel free to disagree in the comments oh they will maybe maybe we'll do another one of these when the jerseys come out yeah ABS great yeah
