both teams have sent their special teams on of the field and we're ready for the opening kickoff excellent kick this one's going to be down in the end zone for a Touchback the quarterback brings his troops out onto the field for the first drive of the game down down Mike 35 Mike 35 10 pulls down the catch and he's going room here tackle made at about the 37 yd line yeah the defense looked a little sluggish there and they can do better than that throws complete he's got space to work down Mak mik 35 and he's going to lose big yardage he's tackled immediately after the catch loss of five there well that's just a sound play by the defense they dropped him well short of the line of [Applause] scrimmage from their own 35 yd line third down and he can't get away from the pressure Los of Y on theth down [Applause] booming kick he's out to the 30 and he's taken down at the 32 North Texas's coaching staff so confident they know they've got a guy that's one of the best running backs in the country and that they can just play their game and not worry about the fact they're on the road well Brett his big playability not only can give you big chunks of yards on the road but more importantly it can quiet this atmosphere and allow the quarterback in this offense to just getting back and just being able to run and be able to communicate and I think that's a big challenge for this team so look for his big play ability to maybe even out the atmosphere and give this offense a chance to be able to execute it's second down and eight ball on their own [Applause] 34 he's tackled around the 46 yd line he really showed some good speed there I'll tell you no question when when you talk about being able to turn on the Jets and leave everybody in the dust you have to mention this young man he's got skills but his speed is what the pro Scouts are drool about and they make the stop at the 45 the offensive line got a really good push there allowing the back to pick up nine on the play aw come on you guys can do better than short yardage situation here it's second down and one Mike's 50 Mike's 50 go defense our nice run there so the halfback gets some decent yards and a first down he got by a couple of Defenders and made it to the sticks for the first [Applause] [Music] down up the middle for a nice game call it a gain of five y that brings up second what was that are you kidding me we've got a second and five ball on the 36 yd [Applause] line on the ground up the middle runs outside for a nice gain y third down [Applause] they're going to come up short here on this third down the defensive line did a great job of getting some penetration and the overall defensive effort was big there to set up this fourth down looks like they're going to go for it on fourth down [Applause] he's going to try and scramble they've obviously found a formula for moving the ball against this defense let's see if any adjustments are made before their backs are really against the wall it's the ninth play of the [Applause] drive that's a great tackle at the 18 yd line that's a gain of three on the play that makes it second and six it's second down six yds to go ball on the 18 yd line 50 they bring him down in the back field Mak it's the 11th play of the drive [Applause] and he's hit immediately when you can move the ball downfield in big chunks like that you've got the defense right where you want them first and 10 ball on the [Applause] 11 delivers to the halfback on the screen brought down at the four the T and this is the 13th play of this drive that [Applause] and touchdown North Texan [Applause] and he TS on the extra point it was a 13 play 69 yd drive and they get it in for seven boy this offense right now is just being physical really controlling the line of scrimmage and it's opening up some nice big lanes for the running backs and it goes into the end zone down for a Touchback North Texas in the driver's seat right now but it's still early Kirk yep very early in this game but you got to love the feel for it as far as they're concerned they came up with a stop and then they give points and right now they're out of the game and while they are behind they know they can KN things up in a heartbeat it's way too early to change your game plan throws complete he's hand that makes it second [Applause] and and down he goes right around the 24 yd line you know sometimes the defense just has a beat on an option and there's no way the offense can gain positive yards on it from their own 24 yd line it's third down mik 35 mik 35 8 and he's going to come up with a sack and a great ball game so far as we reached the end to one seven nothing North Tex [Music] back to the action now here in the second quarter he gets it away and this is a really nice punt brought down at the 43 yd line momentum swings have been fairly even and with so little separation this game can be drastically changed on just one or two plays North Texas is up seven he gets sacked on the play coaches don't like it when their quarterback gets hit like that don't be surprised to see the Old Coach get on his lineman to protect the quarterback a little bit better looking to dig themselves out of a little hole here after the sack it's second and [Applause] 14 to youing to you the quarterback and his receiver make a great play here and convert on an early down that makes it third and [Applause] three they need about three yards to get the first down here on third [Applause] down they'll bring him down around the 48 yd line they just kind of Spun their wheels here but credit the defense with not giving up any ground he putts it away and it's a great kick this one's going to be down in the end zone for a Touchback with one quarter down I really haven't seen too much separation between these two squads might be neck and neck the whole [Applause] way and he's Ted up the 29 nice pickup as they connect on the pass play but they look to be in sync right now they're both with reading the defense properly and the result is a nice [Applause] game big opening he's brought down in the open field did you see how much space there was for that tail back up front he better be thanking his offensive lineman for that throws quick to the receiver and it falls incomplete I mean he has his wide receiver wide open you spend all those hours during the week to be able to get prepped and ready to go you got an open man like this just step and deliver and make the throw there's a strike complete he's out of bounds around the 42 yd [Applause] line tackle after decent pickup [Applause] catches it and he's looking for [Applause] more he's taken down right around the 16 ydd [Applause] line here we [Music] go complete he's got room with the catch [Music] third gets to about the 11 yd line line pick up of a yard for the tail back it's fourth down and the offense is getting set to go for it watch out for a pass play when you're in a goal line [Applause] D touchdown South Alabama he just put his eyes on that end zone and ran with some real purpose there will be tied with the extra point and he converts the extra point the kicker looks like he's ready to kick this one off sends it sailing downfield this one's going to be down in the end zone for a Touchback this is the point in the game where you don't want to make any mistes Stakes that give the other guys a reason to feel more confident going into halftime they'll run it heading for the corner tackle at the 28 yd line it's second and seven ball on the 28 yd line Mike Mike here we [Applause] go and he's taking down the 39 yd line that's good for a gain of 11 y first [Music] [Applause] down and he makes it out to about the 41 yd line a 2yd run by the halfback you're not going to be able to get by a sh tackler like this linebacker too often from their own 41 yd line it's second down gets it he's in face I'll tell you something I'm loving this quarterback's confidence more and more as this game goes on he's really throwing the ball with some [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] purpose back quick throw out to the receiver tackle at the 27 he's at the 30 number Mak the tack the 2 y from the 27 yd line first down red 85 just throws this one [Applause] away s 50 he scrambled he's tackled around the 24 yd Line This is the eighth play of this drive now he's scrambling room around the corner and they make the stop at the 23 yd line so it's fourth down so the kicker comes out he'll try to put three points on the board North Texas could take the lead with this field goal [Music] kicks away and he just drilled it from Long Range boy he had plenty of distance there and pushed it through very impressive leg string 10 s North Texan nice kick plenty of distance and it sails out of the end zone for a Touchback well it's always fun to be part of a defensive battle and that's certainly what we have right now yeah give credit to to both of these defenses I mean they they're playing with a lot of energy and I think they're doing a nice job up front at the line of scrimmage and at this point they're not giving this either of these offenses a chance to make a play in a game that's this close you can't afford to waste possessions here he goes he makes his way out to about the 35 South Alabama will take a timeout that's their first of the half so it's second down and they're only about a foot away from picking up the first down halfbacks got it on the quick throw they'll knock him down for a loss they're stopped two yards behind the line pretty good stand there they weren't fooled At All by the offensive play call here we go here's a quick throw and he's got the junior brought down around the 23 yd line South Alabama will take their final timeout and the big pickup through the air has made it first and 10 [Applause] it's up and he splits the upright so at the end of the half this one's all even at [Applause] 10 hi everybody glad to have you with in the first 30 minutes this game's been everything we anticipated it being each team matching each other blow for blow just a one possession game at this point what do you expect to change things in the second half well it's always it's always fun to watch two teams and two games m match up the hype and we we talk about it all week and how big this game is and it's going to come down to players making plays and you know the the big play is something that we continue to beat into the ground and which one doesn't give that up a lot of times you know games are lost and won by turnovers and giving it away and making that crucial mistake you can do everything right and you can execute right but it just takes that one misstep that one turnover to to really put you in a bad position or a bad situation that can determine this game that's what it looks like it's going to both teams executing well who's going to make a big mistake that'll do it here in the studio at halftime we'll try to see if Paula can bring a little energy in the second half got a lot of games to watch including yours Brad and Kirk ready for the second half welcome back to the action second half just about set to begin we got a tight game here he just drills this one and it goes into the end zone down for a Touchback a lot of times you'll see teams start to clench up a little bit when games stay close well into the second half you need to stay loose keep doing what you've been doing all week in practice and execute when it's time and he hits him hard at the 22 that's a that brings up second and [Music] 1 defense looking for another sack here on this second and 13 [Applause] situation throws complete he's got room to work and down he goes at about the 35 first down left left down down Mike's Mike so the draw to the halfback picks up [Applause] four from their own 39 yd line Second down red they'll bring him down around the 39 yd line that play was going nowhere yeah give a lot of credit to the defense here recognizing pass and swarming to the receiver third down seven yds to go ball on the 39 yd line scrambling around and he's level at the 48 yd line and that'll give him another first down excellent job there Brad of running the football that was good execution by this [Applause] offense nice run there call it a gain of seven y second what are you doing they're about four yds away here on second down down three down hey hey hey alert alert Mike's Mike's up the middle for a nice [Applause] game and this play is number eight on the drive here we go D get off the field Mike's 50 Mike's 50 and that run got stuck yeah you're right the defense definitely won the battle with the line of scrimmage [Applause] there second and 15 ball in the [Music] [Applause] 42 he's at the 30 and he's hit immediately I think it was a great play call and it was very well executed any coach would be happy with that kind of outcome on a first or second down play this is the 10th play of this [Applause] drive pulls it in and he's in the open field and he's tackled around the 13 yd Line This guy's got the combination of smarts and reliability that makes a receiver really dangerous no wonder he's looked to on third down first and 10 ball on the 13 let's go check check Navajo na nice run up the middle that's a that bring and this is the 12th play of the drive three down three down M M5 easy easy easy and he just gets rid of it good job here by the defense if you let this quarterback set and throw he'll kill you all game but they got excellent pressure on that play well they'll line it up again on third down two for two so far on this [Applause] drive he's going to try and scramble so the quarterbacks Rambles for about four yds on the [Applause] play North Texas is looking to go up by three the kick is up and it is good everyone's all lined up and ready for the kickoff he sends this one deep this one is going to be down in the end zone for a Touchback this deficit can be easily overcome sure but they have to be thinking if they don't get something going on this series the burden is going to be felt by their [Applause] defense receiver screen and complete number 11 was the intended receiver on the from their own 25 yd line it's second down set fires quickly and he's got his man knock down bound at about the 39 yd [Music] line he's got it out to his tight end and he's hit before he can go anywhere M5 M5 tackled for a [Applause] loss L of four [Applause] y it's third and nine ball on the 40 yd line9 [Applause] going deep got it to the 10 touchdown Jaguar he splits the uprights with the extra point it was a five playay 75 yd drive and it results in a touchdown this quarterback has really demonstrated a tremendous amount of ability and Leadership today I'd be very surprised if he didn't continue to play well and it looks like they're ready for the kickoff he kicks it off and he got all of that one and it goes into the end zone down for a Touchback both teams have really answered the Bell here in the third quarter exciting to see what these offens has been able to do here be able to come out and score in your first drive tells you a lot about what they did during the half [Music] woo there's still plenty of time to keep running their offense as usual here I don't think they need to feel any anxiety about trailing he's taken down at the 39 y first down we've got a first and 10 ball on their own 39 mik mik he makes it out to maybe the 39 yd [Applause] line fires quick out to the receiver and he can't make the grab it's third and 10 ball on the 39 quick throw tackle around the 46 yd line he made the catch but he didn't get the first down yeah right now the way this defense is swarming there's just no room for him to get up field for the first down and it looks like this one's going to come down in the final quarter South Alabama's up by [Music] four all right we're just about set to start action here again in the fourth quarter they're all tight end on the line here on Fourth and short he's at the 40 he's at the 30 and they finally tack him at the 21 wow that was some run it's worth the price of admission just to see this guy get into the open field so we've got a first down after a great running play mik Mike's 50 doubl doubl doubl dou doubl dou easy easy and he tackles him hard at the 32 the smart quarterbacks and offensive linemen have a really unique relationship a quarterback should take care of his offensive lineman but after that play and that hit really got to be wondering what kind of relationship this quarterback and his offensive lineman have after that defense looking for another sack in this second down and long situation we go green green and he's taken down at about the 23 Y Line of n on the play that BR here's the eighth play of the [Applause] series tackle made at about the 17 yd line and once again the coach has decided to go for it on fourth down offense lines up in a five wide set in the defense anticipating pass here decides to tuck it in and he's got space Here's another fourth down conversion by this offense this is a risky way to live but I'll tell you what somehow someway this offense continues to tell about it and this is the 10th play of the [Applause] drive now he tries to buy some time he's in touchdown and they take the lead you know he was looking and looking and he finally said to himself you know what I'll just take this thing myself nice decision making trying to go up by three they'll kick the extra point and he hits the pat so a 10 play 75 yd drive and they get it in for seven North Texas get set to kick this one away and he got all of this one great kick and they can forget about returning this one I love the competitive spirit that we're seeing out on this field today it looks like one team has the upper hand then the other comes right back in to be able to regain the lead it's going to be an exciting finish both teams realize that when the ball is snapped were one play away from a very different ball game Quick Pass intercepted got some open field the 10 touchdown great job here by the defender breaking on the ball and taking it to the house man those pick sixes can really hurt an offense and have a lasting [Music] impact he makes the Pat [Music] [Applause] is looks like they're ready for the kick excellent kick and it sails out of the end zone for a Touchback so the offense will come back out onto the field hoping for a little better result than that last pick six this quarterback needs to be a little bit more careful because this defense is excellent on capitalizing off the mistakes find his man and they take him down immediately 35 makes the [Applause] makes the grab and steps out right away superb effort by the receiver to come down with that ball this comes down to the timing between the quarterback and the receiver and the result again a nice play for the [Applause] offense I like the schem the defensive coordinator came up with here they were all over the place on that play and left the quarterback nowhere to throw him second down 10 yds to go ball in the 49 less than three minutes in the game and he's immediately tackled fires out to his wide [Applause] out just throws this one away and fourth down and they're going to try to go for it Mike 35 Mike 35 got him they tried to throw for it but ended up getting sacked it's always a gamble going for it with so many yards to come up with but when you're behind sometimes you have to take risks to get back into a ball game [Music] guys are chopping at the bit down there waiting for the game to start back up [Music] mik hands it to the back and they make the stop at the 43 a couple maybe three yds on that [Applause] run from the 43 yd line Second down down m 50 m 50 let's go black8 brought down after a nice run up the middle the Jaguars will use their first time out of the half here's the hand off and he's brought down right away well that's just a good call from the defensive side of the football they know what this team likes to run and they got the better of them that time they're trying to pin them deep with a solid punt right here he really got a hold of that one and it goes into the end zone down for a Touchback it's going to be interesting to see how the action shakes out in this series just under two to go in the game slings it he's tackle at the 30 yd line youve got to play with that kind of purpose to move the ball against this defense [Applause] quick throw to the [Applause] tiing fires quickly to the tight end Dr down at about the 25 yd line here we [Applause] go big play there and now they're looking at first and goal here [Applause] they'll bring him down around the 6yd line number tack at the Y that brings him second and goal fir quick he catches another and down he goes just outside the goal [Applause] line green 19 green 19 check Che regular regular he's wrapped up for the [Applause] sack that bring up four and goal and he's going to be sacked there's a missed Opportunity by the [Applause] offense what are you doing the defense shut him down on their last Drive forcing a quick punt we
