Hardcore Hog Prediction Thursday Oklahoma State full episode

hey hardcore hog fans welcome to prediction Thursday I'm joined by my partner George wadell and our special guest Jay Lawson we're gonna start off with our predictions for the Oklahoma State football game and I'm going to toss it over to George for the first prediction Thursday what do you say buddy as prediction Thursday goes I usually have to kick things off and it's double difficult when you don't get inundated with all the data so here's what I'm going to do I'm going to say Arkansas is going to score 31 points Oklahoma State's going to score 27 we're going to shock the world I don't care dop Walker you know I don't care they got returning starters I think our team gets it done this week in Oklahoma love it that's awesome yeah what do you think Jay where you at well Jay just went sideways yeah keep doing that maybe because his prediction is going to be sideways George I think obviously we don't think that arkans is going to have any problem on offense I don't even know if y'all can see me anymore I may have just disappeared all right I'll have to go vertical then all right um so predictions I don't think Arkansas's going to have any problem on offense if South Dakota State can score what was it 20 points last week uh I think Arkansas scores I'm going to go with 38 um I am going to say that Arkansas's defense figures out that they can play and uh if they hold Gordon to a 100 or less we hold Oklahoma State to 24 points that is wow I like the prediction that is my prediction wow if you look back at their at their games last year when they lost Gordon didn't do Jack Squat and we'll see yeah well it's hard game I am very surprised because we have not talked about this prior to this podcast on what our scores would be and I very surprised that you guys are pretty close to where I'm at on the scores I've got 34 for the Hogs and I've got 28 for the pogies yeah so I am you know I'm surprised that you guys are up there because let me make one thing clear last week I had a lot of naysayers Y and I I busted out with a 63 to6 score and my man and my man George called for 56 points which was the second highest in the hardcore hog group was only two and my special my special guest Jay Lawson told me specifically on the comment there is not enough time to score 63 points Rick DSE well let me tell you Mr Aon there was enough time and this is not an interception defensive pick six kickoff run back this was 10 I know fullblown possession touchdown City three quarterbacks I was three quarterbacks fact that it would be a time clock running second half I just didn't and the way that last time that happened they just didn't run any plays other than running the ball but that was probably just team that they had here was the difference here's what they did krino brought in three different quarterbacks and three different sets of running backs three different sets of receivers I mean it was three different set they played 83 guys yeah and that's why they were able to get 70 points because every kid played like he was playing for a starting position yeah well and not only that Rick but the offensive efficiency was off the chart and that's really what you ought to look at is the offensive efficiency not you know who you're playing or anything like that because they take all that into account we were like number four in the country in offensive efficiency which I think is directly attributed to the way Bobby patrino coaches and so I think offens offensive efficiency wise I think we're really good what concerns me about Oklahoma state is how efficient they can be on offense too and playing at that stadium is going to be tough all right hey let's cut back real quick to prediction because we know we want that to be at the front of the video um let's go for season prediction now how many wins you think we're going to get George I think at the end of the year will'll be seven and six I think we're going to go to a ball game so I think I think we can do that I think seven wins one being in a bowl game I think you know I think we can eek out the season six and six even both so you okay that's okay I was about to say I dare not ask where you think the wins are no you're not going to ask that yeah I'm not GNA ask that no no well no because it's you know we're all shooting at the we're all throwing darts at the same Target where those darts doesn't matter getting into a bowl game this year I think is gonna be the big yeah Lawson where you at well so George sounds like George is saying we go six and six and then win a bowl game that's it that's it we go seven and five and win a bowl I like it I like it it's hardcore I love it optim yeah I love it boys I am the most ridiculous predictor between the three of us on this podcast and I just heard six and six and seven and I mean are you serious I'm not even gonna ask you either Jay which teams those are I'm gonna tell you this here's where it's gonna be it's going to be six and six okay and I had to stretch to get to six games I'm going to tell you why you got to look at the middle of the schedule there we have to win two games two to meet your Jay you got to meet three games to get to this you look at the middle of the freaking schedule and tell man that's going to be look I'm The Optimist of all optimists I don't know I'm the guy that said 63 points last week I'm right there with you yeah hey let me let me tell you this though I if these if they do get seven and five eight and four Sam pi is coach of the year period easily last year's show I'm going to go further than that let me tell you something my man you're a che who has the greatest parlay in college football or actually college sports right now working yeah he hires patrino and caliper in the same year God forbid that the football team goes seven and five8 and four and then calip Perry's basketball team kicks ass he'll be the goat of all ads in the country dude bet boys bet when they when they hired calip Perry nobody from Arkansas texted me and said hey did you hear that no it was people from all over the country there was like dude Arkansas just hired Cal Perry like that's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard and sure enough it was true it was like when I ordered my bmfp t-shirts last week I also ordered the one that says I have always hated crossed out out loved Kari that's good stuff right there buddy yeah yeah I told somebody it was like uh it's like when Hulk Hogan was this bad guy and everybody hated him and then he was on Rocky and everybody's like oh yeah Hulk Hogan's a good guy now we got all cheer for him became a good guy I'm like okay well kapari is our Hulk Hogan that is a great scenario George that is perfect that's exactly right we we kind of grow up hating that guy and then all of a sudden oh yeah he's a hog love him I can't even I can't even say that state without I call it K [ __ ] hcky we gotta play K [ __ ] hcky this week yeah hey just imagine if we would have hired a Texas football coach back in the day I don't know that we'd have the same warm welcome as calberry God I don't know it's too much of a rival well and and as far as football season is is concerned you know if one of those six wins could please God be Texas oh my God oh my goodness I really do even if we lost a bowl game went six and seven if we beat Texas which right now looks like a really tall order but you know they are coming to fville the only way that I'll take this season no matter what the only way that happens beating Texas if Arkansas plays probably their best game of the year they're all healthy and Texas has some injuries okay let's pray yeah I'm in for that hey I'm in for listen I'm in for if we can just beat Auburn in the in the fourth game third game whatever it is if we just beat Auburn I think that'll give us enough confidence and we stay injury-free actually I tell you what I'm not even worried about injuries that much anymore because I just saw so much depth against uapb and I understand we were playing a high school football team but at the end of the day I just saw so much depth with every quarterback every running back every wide receiver every lineman I mean I saw depth baby that's what you're looking for yeah depth and execution I mean usually when those second and third teams come in you know you start seeing mistakes you but those quarterbacks just like you said Rick that that that one quarterback was throwing darts and he is a scat quarterback hey what about what about green comes out very first play of the game very first play of the season and patrino calls the Home Run ball love it can you imagine hitting that if we it'd be over yeah yeah yeah I mean it'd be folklore yeah that Little Rock crowd was late arriving that Little Rock crowd was really is on a Thursday night 7 o'clock yeah you know I mean you got people from all over the state trying to get off work pick up the kids get there get parked that's kind of you know it's kind of one of those deals yeah hey and my favorite name on the roster Ja quendon Jackson I know it I mean he scores the first touchdown the kid is smooth as silk I love him I love him J JJ I think they call him JJ look out that guy is GNA be good but uh anyway reviewing the first game you know uh we've seen it all over National Sports and and and local SEC Sports I mean 10 for 10 come on dude it's the equivalent of pitching the perfect baseball game you go 10 for 10 all on drives No fumbles no nothing special eight nine punts halftime catches you end of the game catches you it's just simply 10 pure it's a perfect game they pitch the perfect game that's all I can say 10 for 10 at the free throw line I mean and you you don't intentionally miss the last free throw I mean you I mean I like what he did he he knew he had a perfect game going and you don't you know to lay down you don't let your team down by not making some history in that situation yeah no doubt that was uh that was an incredible feat it hadn't happened in over 20 years over 20 years in college football but it obviously never happened at Arkansas I mean [ __ ] I can remember opening Seasons with maybe 10 punts well everybody played a cupcake yeah this week I mean I looked at all the spreads everybody was 37 and A2 40 Arkansas was 50 I mean everybody except you know we had the the Florida Florida State game was a good game of course they got their ass crunched uh LSU was a good game A&M was a good game those are still 10 and 11 point spreads so I am very comfortable with the fact that yeah I saw Auburn and Old Miss but I I wasn't impressed by anything they didn't look as well put together as we were they uh you know Hugh FES had to have seen Arkansas score and said man I got to score 70 points too and so didn't they oh yeah there's no doubt about that something did they win 77 77 to to seven yeah yeah well they got scored against how about that yeah you talk about r at the end of the day everybody had a cupcake so whoever your cupcake well and it happens that way every season so the fact that Arkansas set some sort of great record like that is just uh it's pretty cool I think we saw how well put together our offense is I was more impressed with the defense then quite frankly I expected to be lots of great athletes on that defense our linebackers are going to be somebody to tangle with boys yeah yeah the one the one kid the baldheaded kid from the what's his name yeah Landon Jackson my gosh that kid is a beast he reminds me of some of the good defensive ends that we've had in the past did you notice number what's his number uh number seven I think uh he's a transfer no it's a name that's hard to pronounce Juna starts with a d Anton Jun junk from Portis Jervis New York he's a he's defens senior he's a transfer 63 272 he looks like a twin of Landon Jackson number four defensive line big dude anyway yall have to look into him Junkin g juu n c a j looks like junan butchering the pronunciation yeah I'm sure we're new in the season that's the way it works well you know you guys you guys are a a lot more up to date on everything so I get to see it kind of as a fresh face you know no pollution no other like influence somebody telling me what to think you know every day on the radio or you know at the water cooler so I I get a different perspective I'm in a bubble but every time I see the Hogs play this season it will be mainly without all of that stuff so this is are really you know informative for me personally and plus it's fun it's you know it's a well that's the best part about this podcast is you're out in Beverly Hills and so when we do this every week you're basically coming at it from Strictly an observation standpoint you're not hearing the 5:00 radio shows every day you're not seeing the the SEC channel every day you're you're catching this as purely your observation I don't get from us yeah yeah so yeah it's think awesome very beneficial hey let's talk about this the second package they bring in is Malachi Malachi Singleton that guy in his crew came in killed it then they bring in KJ that he comes in and kills it let's see KJ Jackson true freshman from Alabama you know and he kills it his package scores hell I think even he is the one that scored so we look good at as far as depth goes yeah I I was proud of every package that came in and I was proud of the fact that Pitman played 83 kids that's cool that means he put different kids in every package yeah he put letters on 83 kids to uh this week you know don't you get a letter if you get in a game it's kind of like don't you get a letter automatically I think so I'm not sure if you play in a game if you play in a football game it's either one or two you let her in football and that's that's pretty big deal yeah so see that's even super cool right there on its own yeah yeah of course yall no like I said Pitman Pitman to me is the perfect head coach I mean he I think is the guy that really knows that in the trenches is where football is won his reputation is in the trenches he's going to build that part of the game and then hire his support people according to you know what what is available and and who he can get and for patrino to come back to Arkansas not his head coach because honestly he was kind of offputting his head coach and he probably didn't like it I see patrino as this guy that wants to go straight to the film room and have these guys come in and you know and he can go through the film and then go out and scream at him for three hours on the football field come back and then and you know do one interview a week pit it's perfect for Petrino it's perfect listen patrino is probably the top offensive mind and Jay you may have something to say about this too and kind of line me out but I would think that patrino is probably one of the top offensive Minds in the country and I put him right there with Lincoln Riley and Lane kein and so you know mark your calendars for that Old Miss game yeah kein out there and say that I think I think patrino is the best offensive mine in the country I really do I think if um if that's all he has to worry about if that's all that he has to be concerned with he is the best offensive mind in the uh talking about patrino you know the only the only thing that was and it comes back to why he's probably better as a solely an offensive coordinator because he doesn't have to even think at all about the defense when he was at Arkansas his defenses weren't tremendous yeah yeah or he doesn't have to work worry about interviews or all the other stuff that goes along with being a head coach now Sam can solely commit to being the head coach being the B you know good old good old Papa good old no doubt hey but I don't take anything away from Lane kein that that Old Miss game is going to be something to watch I'm just telling you two great offensive Minds coming together it's going to be a battle well let's talk a little bit about OSU let's break down the game coming up all right and uh see what we're up against I mean number 16 team in the country they got a do Walker running back not much else really to speak of but they do have 18 returning starters that's a lot of experience coming back that's that's a lot coming back they definitely have a lot of experience and they have two players that are seventh year players the freaking quarterback and Bowman and I forget who the other one is um I think it's a dback if I'm not mistaken Mitchell or somebody like that I think it's maybe Martin no no no no it's Wright that transferred out of Tulsa yeah right right that's right that's right right let's see they they in those Scouting Report they list Martin as a linebacker but he's a a deback I believe uh because he He's listed on the roster as a defensive back not a linebacker but I mean God dang man seven seventh year players that quarterback's probably pretty dang cool calm cool and collected Under Fire yeah the problem is he's not very good he's known to throw some interceptions okay uh they don't drop the football they run the ball well but he is known for uh throwing some interceptions so we hope to get a few of those their linebacking core is really strong they their defensive line is weak I think they let the linebackers try to mop it up and then you know we all have the same Scouting Report so according to that they're kind of weak on the outside and so I think patrino is going to exploit a lot of that defensive weakness that they have and that's part of one thing why I picked the score I did but just because I think patrino is gonna pick him apart I think one thing to keep in mind though every single defensive back and safety are coming back so it's a veteran it's a veteran cornerback crew it's a veteran safety crew there's several of them uh so you know Green is going to have to show off his passing skills it took him a little bit to get started last week so he's going to have to drop some dimes these Dbacks are big and physical so you know if we're going to win the game we're going to have to hit some passes deep passes have you heard anything about Armstrong he obviously didn't dress out except to have his unifor his jersey on last week in Little Rock is he going to play this week I know he's been injured who's Armstrong probably towards the end of the year last year our best receiver outside of Washington okay I gotta yeah I think they made a pretty good decision to keep him out let him get a little healthier and especially since it was a Thursday night game you know it just gives you those extra days I don't know if he'll come back or not I hope he does on this just it's just another weapon but I mean I had zero problem with all the different receivers that caught footballs I had no problem with every running back that ran the football I mean we look good period yeah couple of drops but nothing nothing that was like you felt like oh my gosh that guy's going to drop it every single time I love the way he used the tight end too well most of it was early drops yeah yeah I mean it was just you know kind of you know working out the Kinks of of the beginning of a game first game of the season yep yep who was the small running back that came in r Hill was it 5 186 pound red shirt sophomore out of Georgia played at Florida a uh he did I was shot he was the second running back that came in I think Rodney Hill number 20 yes because the announcer kept calling him Jack and when I was like no no no that's that's number 20 that's not Jack and uh Rodney Hill red shirt sophomore little guy he did really well last week yeah I think in that patrino offense if you hit if you hit the hole quickly you can look really good as a running back if you sit there and dance in the middle of all those linebackers and linemen if you hit the hole no and you're going to get three yards and then whatever happens after that is up to you then you're in the trino offense well I did enjoy seeing that bran Russell kid you know the local product from The Freshman true freshman that came out of Benton I did enjoy seeing him he might have been in Malachi's package I don't remember but man he's just a good-look kid great great looking style loved it yeah so I you know Oklahoma State they've got returning starters they've got do Walker running back but I think with uh you know I don't know much about our defensive coordinator how how he came in I mean I know he's got a you know he's got a pedigree that's better than last year because Lord I don't think we could have stopped uapb last year look at his uh go out and look at his R video oh yeah yeah coach yeah coach all right so anyway hey I'm going to wrap it up with this because I think this will be funny to watch you guys do this and George you can cut it up however you like okay I'm about to run through the schedule and so I'm going to look off at the schedule but I'm going to give you like George you go first and Jay as soon as you hear him you go and you tell me win or lose yeah yeah are you ready yes I think we win all right UAB win win alurn win win a and in Dallas when Arkansas finally beats I hear the headline now finally beat A&M in Dallas here we go this is a good one Tennessee in fville that's a loss unfortunately we beat with orange if if we can just beat any team with orange on their Jersey this year LSU in fville what' I say six wins I'm already up to six is headed George is headed for nine and three yeah yeah that's that's that's what that's what the weather out here in La will do for you Sunshine every day I wake up every day it's Sunshine folks I live in a sunshine state all right LSU we'll lose to LSU LS loser loser all right Jay we're beating the crap out of LSU yeah baby getting that hey Mississippi State in cowbell Arena all right we'll win that one little payback for last year we win Old Miss in fville no yeah M I'm calling for a tie ball game tie ball game six overtimes yeah nine overtimes 10 overtime we go 10 for 10 in overtime we lose to om Miss unfortunately what about Texas in fville I don't want to say it I don't want to say it either I say we lose unfortunately th this one's easy latch fville when when I mean what am i nine and three now Missouri in colia man he has such a jinx playing Missouri and they're probably going to be le that sickening it is sickening it's like losing the rut curse yeah I know I wanna I want to point this out though real quick because I gotta win me and you George have to win two games in the middle and poor Jay has to win three yeah but but let me mention let me mention something that's going to go to Jay's point we have Tennessee in fville LSU in fville Old Miss in fville Texas in fville come on dog you got to win two of those you're in fville yeah absolutely have to and the crowd is gonna be bananas oh yeah trust me I mean so it's going to be hard to hard to pick whether we beat Texas because they're going to be so up for it you know they'll have players to come in from the 21 game you know to talk to them or what whatever game that was was that 22 or 21 I can't remember well you remember you hey you remember back in 2005 when we barely lost like 15 to 13 and I cooked like 500 people chatau Bon and raspberry Walnut vinegret salads out on the admin front lawn before that was even cool to throw a tailgate party up there yeah peing into the North End Zone year what year was at that was 05 I think 04 or ' 05 that was back in the original was that in the late nut era era early patrino era God you no patrino didn't start till 08 08 so that was nut era yeah was Vince Young versus Matt Jones that's right and I think the final was 15 to 13 but what a great game though it was awesome and it was a beautiful day that's awesome yeah we've had really good luck with Texas since leaving the Southwest Conference I was looking at the record we have a winning record against Texas since we've left the Southwest Conference we own good own Texas High a high chance of of beating them but it just it's going to depend on whether they have any injuries and whether we're healthy and still having a positive yeah I agree noticed I didn't take part in the in the quiz bowl there because I'm just counting on any two games in the middle there that's all I can count on yeah I mean I got the easy win game yeah yeah I got Louisiana Tech I got UAB I got Mississippi State all those wins but we need two in the middle and J needs three so I'll be curious to see how the crowd reacts on our Facebook page with their predictions and and see where everybody is compared to us I was very surprised at how close we all were I think that's a testament to maybe a little bit of the research we did but I'll be curious to see what what some of these other guys say and then also the naysayers yeah that'll be funny yeah you always count on Sean Smith having you know he's looked at it from from that mindset of I think Shawn really should have moved to Vegas after college and just become like you know the guy that that handicaps games he would have been brilliant at that and uh you know susky he's just he's he's gonna come in for real he's gonna come in for real we'll have Su on with his 2827 um OSU score who's he he's got OSU on top 2827 he always picks 28 27 it's always if you're going to miss by a point at least picked the Hogs he he always picks the other team to win 28 and AR to lose with 27 and he has never he's never picked it right has he I mean he's never he never hit it he always been there's never been a score it's 2827 I don't think maybe I'm wrong he'll he'll correct us but I say I say next week if you win prediction Thursday next week you get to be a guest star how's that sound oh that's a great idea yeah yeah hey George I'm glad you I'm glad that you and I came in first and second last week because we're hosting the show how you like that baby there you go that's the way it should be hey where did lawon come in did anybody look at his stats yeah Dam third anybody look up Lawson how close was he I don't know Lawson's pretty good though he he you know I'm more pie in the sky you know I'm gonna land I'm gonna give Arkansas probably 17 points more than they deserve every week just because that's who I am but I I am hardcore hog I am the definition of that I got blinders on so let's just let's just call a spade a spade I am the Spade
