Sounders and lafc have faced off twice in the past month and a half both games ended in 3-0 losses for Seattle tonight the Sounders had another chance to beat their Rivals this time in the semi-final round of the US Open cup boxer te Chris Francis joins us live from Starfire Sports Complex in Taquila where the match took place so Chris was Seattle able to finally get the best of LA tonight David uh they were not as a matter of fact the winless streak against lafc has now reached 10 matches and Counting uh you mentioned it four matches this year alone they've lost to lafc and the black and gold has knocked them out of two tournaments in the last two weeks so talk about having your number here's the thing though the the way it went down tonight was the worst part of it uh let's show you actually what happened in this one it was a pretty even match through most of this game Andrew Thomas making a great save at the end of the first half not too many chances on either side which is EXA exactly how the Sounders wanted to play one they did not want to give LFC some big chances but the Turning Point came in the 80th minute a hand ball in the box right near the Sounders goal went off Lo it looked like two players uh either way the ref called it a hand ball and that's a penalty kick for LFC and they did not miss that penalty kick and of course that was in the 80th minute so the Sounders did not have much time to react after that uh the they were mad at the refs the fans were mad at the refs the Sounders actually scored in stoppage time at least we thought thought it was a score an offsides call negated that so yeah the refs got booed the loudest as they went off the field uh either way the Sounders are out of the US Open Cup Tournament and now focus on the MLS season they surely were disappointed tonight it's a frustrating game right we we didn't create enough chances we felt like we did enough defensively and they get a fluky penalty and it's the it's game referees aren't perfect our guys need to understand that and we need to make sure that we play through some of those moments of adversity it's not always going to be pretty and you have to just keep playing and keep your composure okay so Brian schmeer was diplomatic when he said referees aren't perfect want to asked him if you thought he made progress against lafc because they didn't lose three to nothing like the last two matches he said no we did not win so now they turn their attention to the MLS season they have eight matches left in that season they are in playoff position they play their biggest rival Portland down in the Rose City on Saturday so that should get things started for the stretch Run for the Sounders in MLS hopefully they can like turn it around here and get back on track and beat Portland that would be great if they could do that guys let's send it back to you in the studio tough night for the Sounders here
