Packers Roster Overlook (Week 1 Preview vs. Eagles)

well it is finally game week for the Green Bay Packers this Friday they'll be heading down to Brazil to take on the Philadelphia Eagles in week one of this 2024 NFL season we're finally here we finally made it to NFL football I'm so excited man but it I'm going to go do a quick preview of this game between the Packers and the Eagles so of course the Packers had a pretty eventful offseason and adding Josh Jacobs and Xavier mckin to this team but I'm going to just preview the offense and the defense for the Packers of course the offense you got Jordan love that quarterback freshly extended to that four-year deal for $220 million I expect him to just continue playing at that level he did in the second half MVP candidate I think he's going to be having a very good season he's going to be in the MVP conversation may be biased but the Packers think the same way obviously you don't lock up a guy like Jordan love if you don't think he's going to be an MVP candidate so I do think he'll be an MVP candidate and he's got the weapons to do it Josh Jacobs is a huge addition to this running back room All Pro in 2022 with the Raiders led the league in rushing That season fantastic year obviously we had Aaron Jones last year you know he meant a lot to us Packers fans for these past what six years he was here now with the Vikings don't like that but you know it was probably time to move on uh he always been injured a lot you know last year he missed a lot of games he was huge down the stretch he had five straight 100 yard games rushing but Josh Jacobs is a Workhorse and he'll most likely be healthy throughout the entire season and he and if he doesn't even have to get to that 2022 form but if he's if he's anywhere close to that it'll be huge upgrade for this offense a full year of a very very good running back obviously the news of AJ Dylan out for the year with his Stinger it hurts a little bit you know AJ Dylan first second round pick probably didn't live up to that second round pick but you know he was always a solid back and obviously we got Marshon Lloyd in the draft in the third round uh he is dealing with some sort of injury I forgot exactly what it was it might have been hamstring uh we'll see if he does play on Friday I think he should but if he doesn't we still have Emanuel Wilson on the 53 and you know he played in a couple of games down the stretch last year in the playoffs too he got some carries in those games so you know Wilson he could be a solid back but I'm excited to see Marshon Lloyd once he's back and fully healthy for this team now this wide receiver room is just fantastic we saw it last year all young guys now now Romeo dobs Christian Watson heading into their third season if Christian Watson can stay healthy for the entire season that is huge for this team he brings just that deep threat he can make those big plays I am just so excited for Christian Watson hoping he can stay healthy he got that hamstring muscle mass difference fixed up so I'm I'm expecting a huge Year from Watson if he stays healthy and just Romeo dosman he's consistent he can make any kind of catch he led the team in receiving touchdowns I think last year with seven but Jaden Reed and Daven Wix two guys heading into year two they're going to play a big role too Reed he's he's a very fast Speedy wide receiver and he can do all those end round trick plays like that but he's more than that he's a very good wide receiver too and then wicks davien Wicks he's a very good route Runner very polished wide receiver can make plays I mean you you see all these guys make plays and Bo Melton caught a touchdown in the 49ers game and the Vikings game he's very good as well and Malik Heath as the sixth wide receiver probably could be a fourth wide receiver on most teams but he is our sixth guy and battled with granty Bose who's now in Miami for that sixth wide receiver spot that's not even talking about the tight ends who have put up good numbers in their rookie year you know Tucker craft didn't really perform well in the first half but the second half of the season when musra was out with an injury he showed up got two touchdowns in total including the playoffs and like I mentioned Musgrave another fantastic weapon for Jordan love there's just too many weapons but that's a good problem to have for this offense now the defense new defensive coordinator with Joe Barry out it's Jeff hle in and he's bringing an aggressive aggressive defense and I like this style moving to a 4-3 getting those guys with their hands in the dirt G to attack the quarterback and I'm expecting huge years from Kenny Clark Preston Smith ran Gary could have double digit sacks for the first time this season and man Lucas Vaness four sacks as a rookie I think he could take a huge step this year they're going to rotate these guys in and out Kingsley and agar as well just four great Edge rushers and you know TJ Slayton Devonte Wyatt who's going to be defensive tackle number two that'll be interesting to find out once Friday rolls around but the corners man Jer Alexander if he can stay healthy I I think he's going to get back to his All Pro Form just hle is going to let him go to work let him work one-on-one against these wide receivers play press man I'm looking forward to it you know Carrington Valentine we'll see if he starts but I think it'll be Eric Stokes you know if he's fully healthy and he plays like he did in his rookie season we got a good cornerback Duo but if he plays like he has the past two seasons Valentine is going to take that spot because even when he wasn't been when he wasn't hurt Stokes was not very good on the field but the safety addition of Xavier mcken is huge the safety room last year was lacking in a big way adding Xavier mckeny on a four-year deal and rookies Javon Bullard Evan Williams and Katan oladapo all huge additions to the safety room and man you saw Evan Williams in the preseason especially that first game where he got a forced fumble just making plays so I'm looking forward to seeing him but obviously Javon Bullard expect him to be the starting safety and the linebackers for this Packers team you know Quay Walker he's a guy who he he'll get tackles you know he's not the best linebacker in the league but I think again in this this new scheme I think he'll take take a step forward and perform very well edrian Cooper spent our other second round pick on him he's he's a guy who he's going to attack as well again it's everybody in this defense I'm just looking looking forward to seeing this attacking 43 man defense run by Jeff Halley special teams you know Andre Carlson cut Greg Joseph cut going with the rookie undrafted free agent Braden narison from the Titans again I mentioned this in my other video about Packers signing narison six of seven in the preseason only miss was from 58 made from 59 as well so definitely you know there's there's a question on if he'll perform in the regular season on the big stage but I'm liking what I'm seeing on his highlights and you know players even like Jer Alexander are saying are just giving praise to naron so it'll be interesting to see what happens with the Special Teams definitely going to be an interesting part of this team but that'll do it for this Packers preview roster Overlook I guess you could call it um heading into this Friday's opener against the Philadelphia Eagles definitely going to be a tough game got to focus on saquin Barkley AJ Brown Devonte Smith Dallas Gard Jaylen Herz at quarterback can he bounce back from last year's struggles and the Eagles as a whole can they bounce back from their second half collapse definitely going to be a good game but
