group of people with the same or similar injuries caused by the same product or actions see you the defendant is a group class actions are most common where allegations usually involved at least 40 people who have been injured by the same defendant in the same way instead of each damaged person bringing his or her own lawsuit the class action allows all the claims of all class members whether they know they have been damaged or not to be resolved in a single proceeding through the efforts of the representatives and appointed class counsel so hope you would have understood what a class-action lawsuit means let's go ahead in this particular Oracle is sued video Oracle is sued initially six Oracle workers had sought to be paid as much as their male colleagues and had accused the company of unequal pay in 2017 their fight is called a major victory this week when a California a state judge certified the class-action lawsuit on April 30th this is being seen is a major victory when the California state just certified the class-action lawsuit on last Thursday those six people claimed that they were paid on an average thirteen thousand US dollars per year less than the male Oracle employees in similar positions California judge had issued an order certifying the plaintiffs of proposed class action of forty one hundred women so this was the case it's also important to understand what did the judge say so judge said that Oracle's contentions do not appear to be consistent with Oracle's own documents and testimony judges also said that Oracle cannot set individual page within a job code based on experience education and performance if it does so inconsistently between men and women this ruling gives the women a critical upper hand in pursuing the case against States Equal Pay Act this is not the first time this has happened most of us are aware of these unfair practices which are practiced in multiple organizations what is your experience with unequal pay have you faced any sort of gender discrimination at work or have you faced any sort of discrimination at work do let us know in the comment section now we should dig in detail what are the numbers how much does women unless than men across the board so men should not be paid more for performing a particular job because they are men if a woman works for the same ours performs the same task and is required to meet the same goals as her male counterpart she is entitled to equal pay when women are paid less because of the agenda it is a form of sex discrimination and is illegal in most of the countries now let's look at some of these statistics on an average a woman earns 20 to 30 percent less than every man for doing the same kind of job this percentage increases for female workers between the ages of 25 and 30 for women between 25 and 34 are only 10 to 15 percent less than their male co-workers so women between 25 and 34 fare well against the women falling not in this age criteria although this is significantly less than equal so now let's look at why women are paid less Why are women paid less now let's look at the factors why do women earn less than men there are various factors behind the wage disparity between men and women sometime back there were different levels of educational attainment for both men and women and education is a major determinant of earnings but during the previous 10 to 20 years the world has made tremendous progress on eliminating the educational differences between men and women so these differences now play a much smaller role in gender earnings differences the other factor is that women choose different occupations than men so gender differences in occupational choice of it gender differences in our links even within high-paying occupations women tend to be employed at lower levels of the occupational hierarchy also women around the world are more likely than men to work part-time and part-time work even for a similar kind of job in the same occupation and sector has a lower hourly wage for fewer social protections and benefits than comparable full-time work now one of the biggest reasons and evidence is also the wage penalty of motherhood there is a negative relationship between a woman's wage and the number of children she has for this there's a term which is coined that is motherhood penalty and this is around seven to ten percent per child last but not the least discrimination stereotyping and implicit biases still play a major role and this is significant even taking out the education effect the occupation affect the sector affect the part-time work effect and the motherhood and fatherhood effects a gender gap in earnings remains so these were some of the major factors which we felt causes the gender pay gap what do you guys feel do you guys feel there are any other factors do let us know in the comment section though gender gap used to be quite higher in the past gender gap has decreased substantially now but but the gender gap is still quite substantial what the future will be this younger generation will decide kids at a younger age should be taught both men and women are equal if they will learn right from their childhood they we'll be able to take better decisions when they grow up hoping that the gender pay gap diminishes to zero in our lifetime do let us know
