[Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] he [Applause] [Music] we're the flagship program in this state right and and a [ __ ] a [ __ ] a [ __ ] [ __ ] ladies and gentlemen good evening and welcome back to another edition of deep in the heart of Longhorn Sports it's Sunday night August 25th and it is officially game week for the number four ranked Texas Longhorn football team we had week zero college football this past weekend we're back for another edition of deep in the heart of Longhorn sports for you guys' information this episode of deep in the heart of Longhorn Sports will be split into two videos this first video we will be finishing out our 2024 start of season Dept chart projections for the two deep we project that the actual football team Steve sarkeesian and Company will come out with a two deep for this week Colorado state is Texas's first game tomorrow or Tuesday at the latest but Emy and I are going to do our own projections go check out our defensive projections from last episode we're doing the offense today and then we will continue and try to wrap up most of our team previews getting the rest of the SEC with Missouri Alabama and old misss in the second video well you guys will just have to wait for that joining me tonight as he always does from Austin Texas is Lorn fan himself Mr Emy Nixon how are you tonight I'm doing well man I uh I caught that Florida state Georgia Tech game yesterday at work um went to the break room to watch the entire fourth quarter damn near and man oh just colge football's back man we're I mean we're we're here it it kind of slapped Us in the face a little bit um with the whole oh Florida state is 0 and one thing but you know it's colge football so what's what's expected except for the unexpected exactly um expect the unexpected is the theme of college football and if game one was any indication we could get some chaos this season now as far as our schedule goes before we get into our offensive projections for the start of the season in Colorado State game on Saturday which by the way is gonna be in the dead of the heat 2:30 pm on ESPN if you're not able to make it out to DKR um I recommend just watching that game on your television because it's probably going to be close to 120 130 degrees on the field which is not great I wouldn't want a game at 2:30 late August in Austin Texas um but it is a slight Advantage for Texas given that they practice in this heat and Colorado State obviously does not practice in anywhere near this heat so uh but before all of that just remember like the show if you are watching whether you're watching live or later on it helps the algorithm and make sure you're subscribed you might think you're subscribed but if you're not and you like what we do here make sure you subscribe so the protocol for this exercise is same as last episode I we're we're in a we're in our um team meeting I'm Steve sarkeesian Emy is going to act as uh the position coaches for each position or vice versa and we were we have to release a depth chart tomorrow so we got to get this done let's go ahead and get into the offensive projections for this week so we made the font a little bigger this week so hopefully everyone can see that a little better as you can see on top we have what we projected last episode for the defense so Emy Nixon you are now Kyle flood you are the offensive line coach of the University of Texas um we're going to start on the first team of course our front lines we pretty much know what that is right Jake Majors is going to start at Center you would agree with that right yep as long as he's healthy which he needs to stay healthy he will be our starting center at Right Guard we're gonna have DJ Campbell after the season he had last year really started to come on at the end of last year do you agree with that yep easy right tackle The X Factor of the offensive line in our opinions got one start last year we believe in him we believe in his ability he's down to 335 in the best shape of his life cam Williams you would agree with that correct yep left tackle we all know who that's gonna be a projected first team All-American a projected top five top 10 pick in next year's NFL Draft Kelvin Banks and then at left guard we're going to have aen Conor um who's been the projected starter there so as we look at our starting offensive line you have to feel really good about that again this offensive line returns four starters and we feel really good about our experience and our depth behind our Frontline starters for that matter which we'll get to here in a little bit but we're going to finish out the rest of the offense so I don't know what's going on here with this little Google um quarterback it's Quinn ERS yep pretty simple there um he comes back for his third season as a starter in the same system we expect him to be kind of in Heisman conention there's high expectations for Quinn this year the key will be staying on the field all right let's go ahead and fill in running back since we know who that's going to be it's going to be jayon blue with the injury to CJ Baxter uh getting the first team snaps now we get to the conversation that we really want to have on this episode which is the wide receivers and the tight ends so Emmy Nixon I've been talking a lot who do you project um kind of as Chris Jackson here the wide receivers coach from what you've seen and heard in Fall Camp who are the first team wide receivers well to me the two guys on the outside um it's going to it's going to be guys moving around obviously we're gonna have a six-man rotation but the three guys I of starters I see Isaiah Bond and jonte cook starting on the outside you have anything to say about either of those guys so we haven't really blind I think um it's all about just hands in consistency with him man like he there's no question he can get open on command downn near and SAR is going to get him looks um in in space within 10 yards of the line of scrimmage it's just whether or not he's able to continue to break tackles and and be a threat in the run after catch game like he has been and then cook um from everything we've talked out talked about all offseason it's just all about his release off the ball like you can't touch the guy like good luck pressing this dude yeah jonte cook didn't get a whole lot of time last year but he was behind three future NFL draft picks two of which went in the first 45 picks of the NFL draft and the other killing it in the preseason by the other killing in the preseason as a six round pick with the Los Angeles Rams and Jordan Winnington he's got High Lev ball skills he's a great route Runner um as a true freshman last year only eight catches 136 yards in spot action again a lot of that came couple of those catches came in that last blowout Game Over Texas Tech uh to end the Big 12 regular season for Texas officially and for good um I expect big things from jonte cook um his quickness and his route running is well understood but in practices and we saw it in the spring game some he's demonstrated Elite hands the ability to make some contested catches um I project this is my projection DeAndre Moore who's also coming into his second year at Texas as a super Blue Chip recruit from the state of California at St John bosow one of the best high school football programs in America if not the very best I think with the camp that he's had mentally tough Nuance rut Runner with very reliable hands average physical gifts compared to say or Ryan Wingo a Silas Balin or maybe even a jonte cook but the hands the football IQ um or even just the blocking ability yeah and the blocking ability kind of resembles Jordan Wedington in a way in that respect with his toughness there uh I project him to get the first team reps at slot receiver would you agree with that yep I'm right on board there okay so then me as Steve sarkeesian I've gotten a lot of questions about how much are we going to rotate the wide receivers what's the wide receiver rotation going to look like because in my time at Texas it's been primarily three wide receivers that get on the field very consistently and play the majority of the snaps so Emy ask Chris Jackson how would you arrange the three or four guys Behind These Frontline guys well I would have silus Balden listed as my backup slot guy um I think in terms of the screen game manufactured touches that's all going to be a given within sorc's offense but also just what he's shown in Camp as a guy who's who just plays bigger than his size he's not who He's listed as yeah I think they're gonna I think we're going to move Silas Balden around he'll Place him in the slot but he's also going to play some outside Receiver right um I think we could also see Ryan Wingo play some in the slot the guy I don't I you know Matthew Golden's interesting he comes he comes over from Houston and if you go back and watch that Houston game from last year Matthew golden had a huge game he's a talented transfer white out he's very explosive um he was highly regarded as a fourstar uh coming out of high school Hometown Houston uh scored seven touchdowns as a true freshman health is going to be key for him he's going to be the starting um kick returner for Texas I expect as well uh but he torched Texas last year with seven catches for 88 yards and two scores um he kind of been inconsistent though due to some groin and turf toe issues I think he's the receiver that's not being talked about enough in this receiver room um that could have a big impact on Saturdays it doesn't really matter if we're going to put Silas Bowl in the slot I don't think it really matters who we have behind Bon and who we have behind cook but do you have any input on that situation would you put wio behind cook and Balden behind or golden behind Bond or would you flipflop it um I think I I think I would put Wingo behind cook um because I kind of see cook is a guy who can play in the slot as well yeah um but I I I think ultimately as you said like all of these guys are going to play at different SL different spots and that's the beauty of it I think um my friend we were we were talking about this wide receiver Corp and he was like but who's like the number one guy who's the guy the other teams are going to game plan for and I was like none of them that's the beauty of it they're all capable of being number one guys on High level D1 programs that's the beauty of it right um I think there are two guys that really are going to emerge as that one of the two of jont cook and or Isiah Isaiah Bond just because I I project that those two guys will still be getting a larger percentage of snaps than the other guys will because I think you're going to see DeAndre Moore rotate in and out the slot and I think you'll see those other guys rotate in but I think the guys who will play the most are Isaiah Bond and jonte cook my sleeper for number one wide receiver a guy that we've heard about all camp and a guy that you're hearing about everywhere not just from the local media but from people who cover Texas from a national standpoint is Silas Balin I think he could emerge as a number one guy because Quinn's talked about him um he's gotten a lot of press from teammates um as a guy that's really had kind of a a A+ Camp uh and look I mean he didn't get here in the spring he wasn't around for for spring football because he was finishing out his degree at Oregon State so imagine if he had a full 15 practices plus the spring game to kind of get himself established in the offense it's amazing how much he's made an impression on our staff in the short period of time that we've had you know in summer workouts in Fall Camp right um I think he's the sleeper to emerge as kind of the number one guy behind Bond and cook but you have to throw Ryan Wingo into that discussion as well I mean he could have one of the best freshman Seasons from a Texas wide receiver that we've seen you know since Roy Williams and BJ back in the day so yeah I think that's really kind of what the wide receiver conversation comes down to if there's an injury that that occurs you you have a guy like Ryan niblet who could flip back to wide receiver although from what I'm hearing he's going to be kind of a a depth piece at running back to start the season um and then you have a lot of younger guys who I'm not sure I'm too confident in and contributing right away Aaron Butler is a really intriguing guy who they got to flip last year past Signing Day uh he was a late late flip a late offer too but he's got electric speed uh kind of like Silas Balon Freddy deos and Parker Livingston are two that I probably more so expect to red shirt but are very talented very talented players true freshman so um I think that's about it for the wide receiver room now for running back we've talked about this a lot already with the injuries that that have come down I think primarily Trey Weisner to start out the season Behind jayon Blue and then you'll see Jared Gibson um The Freshman running back get a lot of the third team reps um right so I'd put Trey Weisner in this position but do you agree with that yeah I definitely agree with that okay and then by the way I thought we should mention um the transfer the transfer Belton Gardner VJ Gardner as they're calling him started his career at at Kansas and then for the last two years has been at SMU he's a guy that's Got Talent he's got experience playing the running back position at two power well now power for schools SMU wasn't before but now they are um so he's got power for experience I don't expect him to be a big- time contributor right away he's got to get acclimated to the team um learn the offense but it now gives you another experienced player at the running back position who's played col years of college football um a guy that you can bring in as a as a grad transfer that if say Trey Weisner goes down or even jarro Gibson goes down you have an experienced guy and then you have Ryan niblet behind him so yeah the thing I I'd say is like if we're having to rely on him something has gone wrong but it's nice to have for sure I think yeah post week six we might see him a little bit more just give it like six weeks to for him to get um acclimated with things and if he shows out in practice then who knows maybe he will get some reps yeah a couple weeks from now you know when Texas is about to go into SEC play the week before they play uh Louisiana Monroe that game could get out of hand very quickly you could see him maybe in late third quarter or fourth quarter of that game get some touches once he's kind of acclimated a couple weeks in you could see him in a couple other blowout kind of scenarios I think at the end of the day he's going to be a guy who will probably finish with around 200 300 yards um from scrimmage as a grad transfer doesn't play a ton if he has to play a ton as you mentioned it's probably not a good thing uh and that's not a shot at him it's just the way that it is right um but and he might you know get into the end zone once or twice uh but he's a nice piece to have he's some added depth at that position um tight end is one we haven't talked about yet in my opinion I think this is a Runner Helm's going to start and then Amari nck and or Juan Davis who we've heard had a great Camp will be uh the the number two tight end that rotate in right do you agree with that um definitely I think uh Helm is kind of our inline tight end um that can do the blocking that can do the dirty work and then NY black is going to come in as kind of like the wi tied end in 21 Personnel yeah I would agree I'm gonna put Amari Nyack or um Juan Davis who I think we'll see get some action okay um let's finish this thing out going well so far um I don't know why this does this yeah Google Google cheats is so bad all right so our number two quarterback is Arch Manning we all know that yep um this is where it gets interesting at a couple positions now I'm going to go ahead and just fill in the ones I know I know Trevor guby is going to be our backup left tackle he's probably our our six offensive lineman but he's primarily a left tackle um he looks like a hundred bucks by the way he's he's really good um I so this is where it gets interesting I think Netto umio Zulu um is gonna be our backup left guard but I could also see Cole Hudson here I I think that if something were to happen to Jake Majors we're gonna see Cole Hudson play some Center behind Jake major so I would put Cole Hudson who's an experience guy kind of knows the Playbook and has played center before behind Jake majors and I'd put Netto umio Zulu uh who had a good spring behind Hayden Connor and then right tackle is where it can get interesting Brandon Baker's a five-star freshman that Texas has brought in from the state of California um who I actually don't expect to be on the two deep right away um people within the program have said you know he needs some more time um which is not a bad thing like he just needs more development under Kyle flood I actually would project uh Andre Cojo to play some right tackle behind cam Williams and then DJ Campbell I don't know I had to look at my my uh offensive line depth chart here I'd probably say I'd probably go jayen Chapman or yeah I'd probably go Jaden chat Jayden Chapman or Conor stro probably Jaden Chapman since he's uh got some more experience so that's how I that's how I see the offensive line playing out the wild card I think is um is Brandon Baker can he emerge as kind of the second team right tackle right yeah so let me go ahead and fill some of these in and then we will uh move on that's our the way that we project Texas to start the season um on offense and we will do do a 4-week checkin before SEC play begins any any other any other comments parting shots for this segment before we move on um well I think it's worth pointing out that I feel like really good about this offensive line depth um I think guby is really solid has looked great in Camp as you mentioned um even Andre Cojo has showed signs of like being really solid as like a young player I I feel really good about it I think um you you could do a lot worse that's for sure yeah absolutely all right so that's it for our 2024 offensive depth chart projections hopefully you guys enjoyed that segment now we are going to wrap up video number one by flying through some team previews Emy are you ready yep let's get it you want to start with Miss Alabama or Missouri let's start with Alabama okay go ahead uh thoughts on Alabama overall well Nick Sabin left uh you retired and yeah well retired sorry my bad um homie dipped he was like [ __ ] this never mind yeah so now on he's now on college game day by the way right where where he belongs by the way great fit on col Dame day gotta say but man the hysteria around oh Alabama's in trouble blah blah blah blah blah all of that got shut up so quickly um kayin dor I thought I think is a home run hire um and if we're talking about just how last season went obviously Jaylen milro was the story his development um the defense came around late in the year as well Y and they were one play from well not one play but overtime going the other way from being in the national championship game and possibly winning a national title um so now with kayn DOR where who has won every place he has been I mean I'm just excited to see what he does with Jaylen milro because he's like a we've kind of compared him to Jaylen Herz before and like I kind of see it in a similar way it's just yet to be seen whether or not he's going to have the development track of Jaylen Herz because Jaylen Herz as we know developed year over year over year significantly so if Jaylen Milo can do that we're looking at a possible Heisman candidate absolutely he's certainly a wild a wild card for the Heisman um I want to point out a couple things with this Alabama roster which by the way still ranks as a top four roster in terms of the amount of super Blue Chip talents whether they get them through the portal or through High School recruiting that they have on this roster right up there with Texas Ohio State and um Georgia that's kind of the top four composite on paper most talented teams in college football even with the max Exodus that happened after Nick Sabin retired what are the what could be the pain points though for Alabama as you know last year I think it kind of was the jelling of the offensive line or the struggles of the offensive line that a lot of people projected to be one of the best in the country but struggled early on the season to protect Jaylen milro uh jayen milro of course in his development as a Young quarterback got a lot better towards the end of the season that put him in New York you know I think for the the Heisman presentation I think he was one of the final four um with what he can do with his legs obviously is another whole another dimension this year I think when you think about you know kind of the the the what could be weaknesses to start out for Alabama um there are questions on the back end of their defense um they have the least experience in this part of their roster after losing multiple players to the NFL draft and to the transfer port they still have a wealth of talent here but it's a lot of inexperience um the most important piece to me is g to be Malachi Moore who's a returning Captain for this team and an all SEC level player um he's going to be the leader of this group he's going to be kind of their Nickelback or that versatile you know secondary piece um so it's good that they have him back but remember what they lost I mean Caleb DS transfers out and goes to um Ohio State we talked about that last episode they did bring in some Talent through the portal that I like they get a transfer from USC and five star Domani Jackson um who I think will start at one corner position there are other options here Deshon Jones is a Wake Forest transfer they have a couple freshmen with the way that they've recruited that could start again a lot of talent they get Keon Sab uh to start at safety um you know he's a transfer from Michigan who had two interceptions a year ago so they have a lot of talent it's just inexperienced and how does this secondary gel um and then I guess some of my other questions for Alabama um that's probably the main one I want to see the offensive line still which has new pieces on it you you lose J yes you lose JC leam uh you lose Seth mlin to Ohio State those guys are both gone a big move in the off season was getting Kaden Proctor back who briefly left for Iowa he's gonna start at at tackle for them um Tyler Booker is an All-American candidate who returns along with one of their starting guards Jaden Robert uh they get Parker braford another big transfer in from Washington who's an experienced instant starter he'll start at another guard position really like the interior of their offensive line just want to see how these new pieces work in um jayen milrose an X Factor and then the receivers are interesting to me um why because there was a Max accidence of talent there Germaine Burton went pro Isaiah Bond of course transfers to the longhorn Malik Benson was a guy that we saw over the weekend for Florida State um and jakori Brooks who kind of was a depth piece there a year ago played a good amount of snaps for them uh he transfers out and he goes to Louisville so that's a lot of receiver Talent from last year's team that goes elsewhere um I like kobby printice I like Kendrick law Jaylen Hill's a young guy at receiver uh they did go out though and they added five-star Ryan Williams who I think is an X Factor in this equation he was the number one rated overall receiver in the 20124 recruiting class he's a I think he's a he reclassified so he's a year early so he's actually really supposed to be a senior in high school but he's talented enough to where he can play right away um he's going to be a guy I'm watching for them on offense because if he emerges this offense could be really dangerous um but it's mainly the offensive line and the secondary otherwise Alabama's got the talent and the coaching to be a top five team in America once again they're not going anywhere folks the recruiting is fine they have a top five top three recruiting class in the country as of right now for 2025 um they're going to continue to hit the portal I actually think uh uh Nick Sabin retiring uh is going to help them in the nil space um just because not anything to do with Nick Sabin really but a lot of kids were willing to go to Alabama for discounts to play for Nick Sabin I think Alabama who's not really spending a ton on their roster compared to say a Texas or a Georgia or a Texas A&M um I think they're going to start utilizing their War chest a little more which actually is going to help them um that's another tool for Kaylin dor I mean everywhere this guy has been he's won and he was just in the national championship game eight months ago so yeah I think Alabama's right right there you look at their schedule for this year the big games are Georgia well actually big games come quickly for them go at Wisconsin in week three that's a game we'll talk about expect them to win that game but going up to Madison Wisconsin it's a hostile environment we will see and then you host Georgia your first SEC Game of the Year from there it eases up a little bit um you have to play at Tennessee last time you played at Tennessee you lost they have a Young quarterback that's in the middle of October we'll see how that goes but you host Missouri you go at Oklahoma at the end of the year and then you have the iron bow but if they can get through a lot of those games unscathed it's South Carolina it's Mercer South Florida Western Kentucky vanderbelt I expect Alabama to win 10 games and be in the playoff um and they could go higher than that yeah yeah I agree and um the thing that I'll add on to the secondary not to go backwards too much but the list of defensive backs under Nick Sabin that have played as true freshman and played well mind you is a long one so in terms of defensive backs and in the secondary as of right now I'm not worried because I know that Nick sain like even though he's retired he's still involved in the program he's still um advising here and there dropping in at practice giving pointers so I still feel very confident that this secondary is going to figure it out maybe not in week one but if we're sitting here in week six and maybe they give up big games against Georgia or like a Tennessee or something then maybe we'll talk yeah a couple other things I want to mention Deontay Lawson is a linebacker I think he's an All-American candidate I think he's poised to be a pivotal figure in the in Kane WX defense um especially as the team navigates to a new scheme um you know this defensive side of the football's kind of brimming with some inexperience I think Lawson's role becomes even more critical he's going to be one of the best linebackers in the SEC or he could emerge as that um 67 tackles and three sacks a year ago but it was injuries that kind of derailed what could have been an all SEC caliber campaign for him he's an X Factor on defense and then on offense running back you lose royell Williams who we saw in yesterday's game transfers to Florida State you lose a couple other running backs in this room Jam Miller a pois he appears to be poised for a breakout Junior season um didn't get much AC action a year ago 41 carries for 2011 yards but I think Kaylin dbor will be able to utilize him uh and I expect him to rack up some significant yardage behind this huge offensive line if there's one thing about this offensive line they're massive um and so he'll run behind those offensive linemen and like Alabama always does they'll be they'll be pounding the football so it it'll be some of Jaylen milro as well running behind that offensive line so uh Jam Miller on the offensive side Deontay Lawson on the defensive side and then as I mentioned Ryan Williams just keep that name in your mind I think he has a chance to be a freshman All-American let's talk about old Miss Emy Nixon I'm high on Old Miss I'm sure you're high as well but how high are you on Old Miss can they win the SC this year I am higher than Snoop Dog on a Sunday morning that's how high I am okay let's I I think I think all Miss um let me put it this way I think they have a chance if their defense comes together which that's a big if um they have a lot of roster turnover obviously they're bringing in a ton of players from the transfer point and as we saw with Florida State yesterday it doesn't matter what type of Allstar lineup you put together it's all about continuity and experience together and you got to come in week one you got to be locked in on all your keys so that's a lot of you know onus on this coaching staff to not have any slip UPS because they can't afford any um but with that all being said though I think they'll be ready to go they have enough talent to where like even if this defense falters early on in the season from a secondary standpoint P defense standpoint I think they'll still be good enough to where they'll be able to navigate those uh falters I guess early on this season yeah for those out there that don't no Old Miss has been a really good program under Lane kein um this is Lane's goodness fifth year I believe at Old Miss he's in four years he's 34 and 15 and they average about 10 wins nine 10 wins a year um so they've been really good um they were last year it was their first ever 11- win season in program history and the way that they finished the season really gener erated momentum for them going into the offseason they win the Egg Bowl and then they go on to play in a New Year's six bowl not in the playoff of course but going to play a new yearor six bowl and they beat a top 10 team in Penn State in in that bowl game they dropped 38 points and 540 yards of offense um which was nearly triple what Penn State was averaging for the season so we know how good they are on offense we know Lane's going to have a good off offense um it's really about how do some of these transfers particularly on the defensive side how good can they be uh but real quick on on the offense um by the way Talent acquisition for Old Miss they're really in it in the nil in the nil game they're one of the better schools in the SEC in nil they're really using that to their advantage particularly in the portal Old Miss they recruit good players out of high school but they're not recruiting at the level consistently that Texas Alabama even like an LSU is recruiting top 10 classes year after year after year um they're gonna have to be a program that kind of relies more on the transfer portal in that respect and they've done a fantastic job and that's where a lot of the skeleton of this roster is built uh and it's not a B thing if if a lot of these players pan out Miss can make a run at a National Championship uh but 26 fourstar and five-star level transfers over the past three Cycles that's the most in the country so they've done a fantastic job in the transfer portal on offense um 14 starters return top 15 offense top 10 passing offense a year ago they have Jackson dart back I expect him to be a top five quarterback in the SEC maybe like a top eight guy in the country um they have a ton of weapons we don't really need to to belabor that point it's really about this defense um Pete Golding who came over from Alabama before last year is their defensive coordinator um five starters return but they add five transfers from Power five schools that will look to make immediate impact the headliner being Walter Nolan who was a five-star uh back in the 2022 recruiting class signed at A&M in their number two or number one overall rated 2022 class which kind of fell flat on its face as we now know um he was kind of the number one overall transfer in the cycle nil helped with his recruitment but he's get he needs he's going to need to be an instant impact defensive lineman they bring in uh an edge rusher from Florida I can't say his last name I just call him Prince U um who led Florida and tackles for loss sacks and quarterback hurries um him and Walter Nolan kind of man their front line and then you look at you know what else they brought in in the portal um it's it's impressive uh they bring in key Lawrence from Oklahoma Isaiah Hamilton uh from Houston to bolster the secondary uh Trey Amos who was in the rotation at Alabama he comes in as the as a top 10 transfer rated Corner uh he projects as a starter at one of those positions it's all about how much of an impact do all of these transfers make on the defensive side of the football uh they also bring in Chris Po Paul name's Pooh uh from Arkansas uh who was a freshman All-American in a tackle machine so I think at all three levels of their defense they've got Playmakers they have the they had the offensive acum and they had the quarterback um you look at their schedule I mean you go down it it's the key games for them are going to be at LSU one of the best games of the college football season on October 12th going into def Valley expect that to be a Prime Time game you play Oklahoma but you get them at home and what's a brutal stretch for OU um that involves Texas and some other tough games going at Tennessee um and then Georgia who's really been you know Georgia and Alabama have been the hump That Old Miss hasn't been able to get over um and so that Georgia game at home on November 9th could be could be two undefeated teams uh playing in that game um How likely is that I don't know but maybe that could be one of the biggest games of the season but you look at her schedule it's it's not easy there's no easy schedule in the SEC but it's certainly manageable they don't have to play Texas um they don't want to play Alabama so I like it they don't play Tennessee um and I I expect big things for them yeah yeah it's uh playoff for bus they've kind of gone all in here as you mentioned so it's uh we'll see I mean Lane kein is gonna show his worth this year for sure yeah all right um you know what let's go ahead and and knockout Georgia let's knock out Georgia here um all right because they are the number one team in the country we might as well because on on on Thursday's episode we're gonna jump right into the games for week one We're not gonna have time to do uh any more team previews so we're gonna do Georgia and then we're GNA throw out our official on the record Texas record prediction for the 2024 season so Georgia go ahead and give your your thoughts on Georgia well I mean it all it all starts with Carson Beck um M quarterback he's he's the guy who's projected to go possibly number one overall in next year's draft um the armed Talent the the ability to play in and out of structure it's been it's been really good thus far man it was it was really good last year um now Georgia obviously they didn't end up getting it done in the SEC Championship game but going into this year though I think Carson Beck has a chance to take another step forward and I'll go on the record right now he's my Heisman Trophy pick right now I think this offense is going to be extremely productive at all levels they still have even with losing Brock Bowers possibly the best tight end room in the country which we'll talk about in a little bit um and this defense is as advertised again um they just reload and reload yeah um Carson Beck um was masterful last year pinpoint accuracy Elite decision making in his first full year as a starter completed 73% of his passes which which broke the single season record for Georgia previously held by STS and Bennett back in 2022 um Jacksonville native very close uh to to the Georgia area uh where he's from the expectation for him of course is to be in New York at the Heisman Ceremony to be kind of the first team second team All-American Heisman Trophy caliber quarterback which I do believe he will be reasons being number one this offensive line is going to be fantastic um we know that we've talked about that when we've had our offensive line conversations they're they're going to be really good they're going to Maul in the Run game I think they're going to be really good in pass protection Tate ratti is a guy to keep your eye on um he's a first team All-American projection type at Right Guard um he's just an absolute Beast Ernest Green III started all 14 games last year as a red shirt freshman at left tackle I expect another step from him um and the average size of that offensive line is just it it's unbelievable we know the depth that they have there look I mean you get Trevor etn a big a big transfer running back in from Florida we know kind of some of the production they lost at the running back position but I don't really worry about that all too much and you talked about it it's the tight end position still want still a loaded room even though they lose Brock Bowers who led them in receiving for three straight years one of the greatest tight ends in college football history what he accomplished he was an All-American in all three years he was all SEC all three years there's a reason he was drafted so highly and thought of so highly um they still have Oscar Delp he was the number one rated tight end in the 2022 recruiting class um and they have lots of depth in that room I expect them to use tight ends a lot still Oscar Del could emerge as the best tight end in the country or one of the best I mean Coulson loveland's up there there's a lot of other guys I can think of but he's certainly in that conversation the wi receiver room is interesting for them um some Talent departs lad makoni got drafted Marcus Rosemary Jack Saint is gone now um they already had to dismiss a wide receiver due to some of the off the- field issues that they've had in Athens um Rah Thomas I believe was dismissed if I'm not mistaken from the team so some of these other guys are going to have to step up I look at Dylan Bell and Dominic love it who led Georgia in their wide receiver room in catches a year ago 63 yards and four touchdowns as guys that'll step up there um but overall like Carson backck in this offensive line is the engine that drives the bus on this offense and they're going to be probably a top five top 10 offense in in America and then the defense the interesting thing about this defense is Kirby Smart has said like we do not have the depth on the defensive line or maybe at any of these positions that we've had in some of our national championship runs the The Proven experience and The Proven depth behind some of these guys but the front end Talent is of course topnotch two guys I look at defensively Malachi Starks uh who's All-American selection preseason uh as a junior returning as their free safety and then uh Mikel Williams as kind of that defensive end three technique defensive tackle type as as another potential uh All-American kind of guy 65265 um and then you have you know lots of other highly recruited studs monsters on on the defense so they're rightfully the number one team in the country um the schedule is the main talking point with Georgia and my opinion it's um it's tough this isn't a Georgia schedule that we've seen very much in previous years when we had divisions in the SEC now it's it's fair game like you're you're you're you're you're at the hands of the SEC in terms of who you play how the schedule's formatted you got games at Alabama at Texas and at Old Miss the three teams projected to finish behind you in in the polls all of them on the road and then in addition to that you have to play at Kentucky you have to play Clemson week one you have to play Georgia deck who looks like a team that will be very formidable in the ACC got to play Tennessee it's not easy schedule you have the cocktail party at beginning in November against Florida Florida's a team I think it's going to be better than their record says they are this year due to their schedule it's a tougher schedule than Georgia had last year but if any team can navigate through it it'll be them so I'm you know that all that being said I I don't expect any team to really go undefeated um I do think there's a loss somewhere in here for Georgia but they're going to be in the playoff they'll probably be in the SEC Championship game um and they'll probably be making another run at a national title right exactly I mean you cover just about everything there yeah um let's see anything else oh before we wrap video one up kind of putting you on the spot here but um official go on the record Texas record prediction first year in the SEC what will the Longhorns finish like in 2024 10- two in the regular season okay I'm gonna say 11 and three overall they win one playoff game lose the next okay um 10 and2 probably not in the SEC Championship game because there could be there could be a scenario where they lose two games but one of those losses is to Michigan so that doesn't count against their conference record which would still allow them to be who do you project the losses coming to in the regular season um I was going to say Michigan and uh uh Michigan and Georgia um but I mean it if we lose to Michigan it's not it's not the the end of the world I think it's I if anything it might give us a kick in the ass to where we can come into Georgia a little bit more focused um in fact you know what so who do you have in the SEC title game is it Old Miss um I have Bama and Georgia okay the SC title game okay um for me I'm gonna go I'm I'm gonna go 10 and two I think that's a a good record prediction I feel very confident about that um I feel the Georgia game's going to be close but they'll probably lose that game and then I actually foresee a loss to a game that we probably should win um yeah you know what I I'm actually gonna change my prediction I'm gonna say 10 and two still but I'm going to say we lose to Georgia and one of A&M or Oklahoma okay I'm going to say Texas fans aren't going to like this I'm going to say we lose to Georgia were 10 and one going into college station that could be like a nine and2 maybe even a 10 and one Texas A&M team we pretty much have our playoff fate locked up at that point I mean both teams would if assuming both teams were 10 and one both teams would probably be in the playoff at that point depending on what the rest of the country looked like I'm GNA say we we lose in College Station to the yaggies I'm gonna say Georgia and then at A&M will be our losses and I think I think we win two games in the playoff as opposed to one on that note dude I got a question for you do you think we're gonna see college football teams rest starters in the last week of the regular season I think that's a real possibility funny you ask it um because it's watching Josh P's show tonight before the podcast and that was a wh if scenario that he talked about on his show I think it's a it's within the realm of possibility um the example that Josh Pate threw out was like Clemson going on the road to South Carolina say they I don't know 10 and one the loss being to Georgia in week one a loss that doesn't count against their conference record say they run the table after that and you know they're pretty much we'll see at that point like they'd be in the ACC Championship game win or lose to South Carolina and that would be kind of the only game that would matter at that point because then you get the automatic bid in the first round bu a 10 and two AC yeah a 10 and two ACC team you know if you lose that game you're still in the ACC ACC Championship game but a 10- two ACC team is very iffy whether or not they would get in the playoff um it's a possibility but then it's like we're gonna arrest our starters in a rivalry game one of our biggest games of the year you know in within the progam you could see it absolutely I we it's just an unknown because we've never seen a season like this we've never seen a season with so much on the line so many teams you know still having getting their hopes up in the last week of the regular season and hopes I could see I could see NRE Dame doing it yeah um you could see it absolutely we'll see what happens it's a in the realm of possibility I hope hope it doesn't happen yeah me me neither I would suck it could happen in a couple places for sure all right wrap this one up in about an hour any parting shots um my Parting Shot is be sure to tune in to our second episode tonight um we've got something fun planned from the
