W Madison lafallet School is teaming up with Wisconsin Public Radio and the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel for a lacrosse town hall on two big issues impacting millions of Americans including wisconsinites news8 now's Jeremy Wall is telling us more about the event Jeremy it's a packed house in the London Center full of Wisconsin nights coming together to discuss two big issues impacting them climate change and Healthcare Nathan Miller drove three hours for what matters to Wisconsin Community conversations Town Hall Miller lives in a rural area and doesn't have access to healthare it's tough to get there's limited resources to get access to it because Healthcare is a for-profit industry it's not there to give me Healthcare access it's there just to make money off me and then move on community conversations is part of Main Street agenda a series of town halls focusing on different issues like climate change and Healthcare the issues are determined by a survey by Wisconsin says since 22 panelists have held these events discussing issues concerning Wisconsin nights and it's interesting because there sort of Morgan Edwards is a climate policy professor at W Madison she's seeing how climate change is affecting Wisconsin this is one of the warmest years on records we're seeing record heat waves um that affects folks in terms of health and safety in their home uh it also affects our energy bills the goal is to open the conversations surrounding Healthcare and climate change and look for possible solutions especially ahead of the election so we're a swing state we're an important state coming up in the election um and it's important to both talk about these issues and understand what everyday people think about them lacrosse isn't the only city what matters to Wisconsin Community conversations is stopping in there will be four other events similar to this one the next one is on September 18th in I asked what issues they will be discussing there but they were not able to disclose them in Lacrosse Jeremy Wall News 8 now okay thank you Jeremy what matters to Wisconsin Community conversations will also be stopping in Green Bay oakair and Madison throughout the fall
