not going to lie before I even think about stepping front of this camera I have to do my homework I'm forecaster you Raina plunket and welcome to my [Music] [Applause] [Music] crib I like to call this place the weather layer this is where the magic happens one of the questions I get often is how do I predict the weather truth is weather is unpredictable with changing variability in the atmosphere and using nonlinear equations it is super difficult to get it right all the time so that's why I rely on my models they simplify data using satellites radar instruments and groundbased observations in Western Nevada that often means relying on the data provided by airports I take everything with a grain of salt because there's always some level of uncertainty that's where I found a friend yo Justin help me out so that's where cool guy Reno National Weather Service meder neologist Justin Collins steps in think of the National Weather Service kind of like the weather police they're busy crosschecking models collecting data using weather balloons all to get the details right all of the the temperatures and um like current conditions basically um all get ingested by the models and then um using a lot of like you know obviously math and and physics and all that uh creates a forecast I'm not going to lie some days there's a bit of massaging that goes into some of these numbers but with more Science and Technology we are closing the gap between the guesswork and making the sky the limit for weather forecasting
