hello and welcome back to FCB daily today we're diving into the nitty-gritty details of the new Champions League format UEFA has really shaken things up this season and I'm here to break it all down for you so what has UA done well they've turned the group stage into a single League of teams Yes you heard that right no more traditional groups like we used to have instead we now have one big lead table featuring Europe's best teams you could almost call it a super league but let's not go there here's how it's going to work instead of the usual six matches teams will now play eight games four at home and four away this new format involves 36 teams in total the goal for each team is to finish in the top eight of this lead table which will automatically qualify them for the round of 16 but if you don't make the top eight don't worry if you finish between 9th and 24th you'll go through a Playoff round to try and reach the round of 16 for from the round of 16 onwards the format remains unchanged knockout rounds leading to the final but ufa's main goal with this change was to add more games to the group phase and they've certainly succeeded in that now let's discuss how the teams were drawn today we saw four different pots based on UFA coefficients with teams being drawn from each pot instead of forming groups of four each Club was paired with two teams from each pot resulting in eight matches the fixture were randomly assigned by a computer deciding which matches are home or away so who will Barca be facing here's the list Byron Munich bisha Dortmund Atlanta Benfica young boys Red Star Belgrade breast in his Monaco it's a mixed bag with some big memes like Byron and Dortmund along with other teams that could present challenges especially in away games when comparing our draw with other teams it's interesting to see that for example Real Madrid will also be facing Dortmund while PSG has been drawn against teams like Manchester City Bayern Atletico Madrid and Arsenal it's clear that this format is designed to keep things competitive throughout the tournament uea's motivation here seems to be ensuring that every match counts in previous formats some games at the end of the group stage were essentially dead rubbers this new setup keeps the stakes high with every team fighting for position [Music] finally I want to hear from you what do you think about barca's draw how do you feel about the teams we'll be facing and perhaps more importantly what's your take on this new Champions League format are you a fan or are you still trying to get used to it I hope this video has helped you understand what's coming in this season's champions league as always thank you for your amazing support I'll be back soon with more updates and Analysis
