recording now recording and [Music] snap there we go first one first of many good yes first of many too loud or no pretty sweet pretty sweet yep is that a good day yeah I'm yeah that's totally up to you where you want it as long as it's I can hear you you talk yeah can hear me yeah perfect bro perfect right oh welcome to the uh mayaki podcast uh my name is mat Koso and I'm here with h a good friend of mine that I've only just come across in the last uh two years on our journey to the Gold Coast uh Daniel Evans from walkout Warrior welcome mate brother uh I wanted to get you on first mate just because I'm a proud indigenous man and uh yeah you've done a bit of stuff for us along the way since we've moved up and uh I wanted to show that in indigenous side of me in this podcast studio and I thought what better way than getting you to paint something on the wall which everyone can see behind us yeah it's pretty cool huh yeah it's uh pretty special I uh said to Daniel I said mate can you just put these two things into something for me and and I wanted the land to meet the ocean and as you can see through the colors that Daniel's done there um I think he's done pretty well yeah it's got the got the water and the and actual land the colors of them y but also the footprints too that's your journey you know yeah and that's your journey too that's your that's your print that's my print when I paintings I usually do for yeah how good so M I wanted you to to tell your story I wanted you to come on and tell us you're obviously a proud indigenous man also so I wanted to hear a bit of your story where where's your mob and and uh why you're on the coast and pretty much what you're doing now so I'll let you just start by telling me whatever you want to tell me yeah we can cut anything out we can this is can be as raw as you want it to be or we can y the this guy's your limit mate you can tell me whatever you want at the end of the day yeah sweet um they born and bred in kab yeah good yeah K boy uh C gilo tribe um my mob's from um and moved up here when I was 12 and been up here ever since pretty much i' did a bit of traveling with 40 and stuff and overseas and and and whatnot um but yeah doing what I do now is what I love and that's artwork U mentoring Youth and that's what walk about Warriors is too so combined my sort of my two passions you know you do a fair bit of workshops with kids at schools and and like everywhere don't you not just school stuff no not just schools but um like local businesses and yeah more around the youth side yeah um cuz I believe my journey is that what I sort of suffered or went through as a young kid I want to give back so kids can have someone there to look up to so I know when I was young it was frowned upon to be indigenous like it was you're a black fell it's you're not one of us like especially our color yeah yeah exactly mate you're a bit darker than me but but yeah you definitely if you weren't black like full on black yeah one of the it was it was yeah it frown upon and it was like you know you felt ashamed cuz people are like oh how how much percentage are you and it's not it's not about that no it's not at all it's like if you are strong in your beliefs and faith that you are Aboriginal and like I've even got the certificate for it you know and Y I'm abigal I'm proud indigenous yeah yeah and that I that's what I want when I do my workshops to have the kids be proud of who they are yeah because you know some of them go I don't even know where my mob's from I think but you are original yeah and just be proud cuz we're all we're all here together no one's no one's different no no you're another no matter what color you are you know it's always comes back to me that you know that cup of tea is still a cup of tea how much milk you put in it you know so it's still a black tea isn't it that's it that's it that's it um I uh I found um when I was a young fell I was I was white like pretty white I'd always get [ __ ] sunburn I'd always had the freckles I had the red curly hair that was a that was a throwback my my n is black is a and my mom's white like she's indigenous but she's also white and then my dad which I never met but he was indigenous also Y and he was white y so I was no chance to be black but I have indigenous like all through my whole family and I was just the little white kid with red hair with freckles claiming he was indigenous and used to go to all the all the camps like ever from when I was a young fell was that [ __ ] I remember to this day and what you're doing to help these young kids now to be proud say that you're black and [ __ ] own it yeah definitely 100% 100% because I find that some some kids uh they don't know if they should tick the box of their abigal or not cuz some of them don't know yeah some of them are as sham still yeah you know and too many of us us and I I put myself in that category cuz when I was young I was too shame y but I still went I still did it y that need to be shame no I I was speaking to my partner about that this morning like yeah I used to be shamed yeah you know cuz it was frowned upon you know and but now it's sort of I knew I was Aboriginal I know it and but you still like [ __ ] shows yeah it's like it's but it's sort of like oh these kids are teasing me cuz I'm yeah like white but I claim I'm original and even like black people like you're not original you know like it's just it's still like that to these this day too isn't it yeah old Auntie [ __ ] Auntie Cheryl was saying she she pushes it now but AR five I'm just saying a number here five or 10 years ago and yeah n you're no black fell you're not one of us but I feel like the elders now are are pushing it a bit more yeah they never used to I feel I'm speaking through my personal thoughts there I don't know if you agree with that I I agree with you cuz you know my then growing up yeah it come from them too yeah it was ashamed like cuz we live they lived on a a mission outside forgotten bar Mission yeah where out neara kuna yeah about I think it's about five six seven K outside of ker yeah we are so they they had to um like back in the day they weren't allowed in town only once a week to geter groceries yeah where are yeah yeah [ __ ] how long ago is that you know exactly well I don't know exactly don't know exactly but that's full on a it's it's crazy to think that we've come a long way when you look at it like we we have but still but still like it shouldn't be like it's us or them everyone's exactly the same yeah you're right you know like you look at someone's color and you're like oh they're different they're not different everyone bads the same everyone's yeah wants the same thing do you feel like from how you you were brought up like how it was frowned upon to be indigenous do you feel like that's like shaped the person you have become to this day definitely yeah definitely is it's that um because I I've done heaps of work on myself yeah I can see that from when I first met you until now like two years a year and a half later you've definitely become a stronger person and more definitely vocal as well I feel yeah it's um yeah cuz yeah I tell a bit about my story but it's only part of my story you know like I don't I've sort of dealt with that sort of side of it y like as as a 7ye old I was sexually abused by by a family member yeah wow yeah sorry to um that's [ __ ] yeah so and it was frowned upon by not speaking out back then you know yeah W you know like it's sort of like oh no I'm go smacked sorry yeah no F I didn't know that that's why I didn't want to ask you any questions because I wanted to hear I'm happy to talk about it because I've I've sort of dealt with that side of it you know sorry you keep going and this but this is the this is the part of why I do what I do yeah cuz if I can speak about it and open up about it yeah then it gives that other people to do the exactly the same thing yeah like it gives them a voice yeah definitely you know and I never had a voice cuz I was told not to talk about it yeah don't tell anyone um even when I sort of told Mom and Dad like they were angry cuz I only told them um before I went on my ever first podcast yeah W and that was only 5 years ago yeah okay so first time they' heard of it and you just had your birthday so yeah [ __ ] that wasn't yeah 35 years ago W yeah yeah so yeah um that's crazy man that's I'm still Gob smacked about that that's [ __ ] full on no I still I still have my moments but of course but it's it's it's always like the biggest thing is is trusting yeah trusting yeah of course yeah and it's trusting in myself that I can you know get over that and move on and just continue to just keep going and and teach other kids teach other people that it's okay just to talk about it it's okay to feel crap too yeah it's yeah of course yeah and that's one thing I appreciate with you like I spoke to you a few weeks ago and I said uh hey you be bread like you going all right and every time I've very first day I met you when you come into to our old tattoo shop and I asked you how you were and this is one thing I pride myself on by asking everyone how they are and if someone says yeah I'm all right I ask him again yeah I don't just get that oh yeah I'm right and we talk about something else I ask the same question again and that very first day I asked you you told me I'm struggling with depression I'm struggling with this I'm struggling with that and I'm I'm sure you don't mind me saying that because you speak about it openly yourself yeah definitely and that's how far I've come though cuz I'm sort of like I'm not and that's what I was like I'm not hiding anything think anymore like cuz I've H all that for years so long man like it's and now I get to flip side I get to talk about it but I get to work with people that understand yeah me on a different level cuz I'm open yeah yeah and I appreciate that too and I the industry you know that I work for people that don't know I work in um disability support so I'm forever dealing with people with stuff like that and yeah yeah it's great to talk e you you don't know no you don't know what people are going through man like and it's you don't it's pretty full on yeah um cuz yeah I I like I love what I do yeah like it's quiet at the moment but it's um I know it's just the crisis where yeah it's [ __ ] yeah it is what it is like you can't really you only control what you can control correct and that's what I keep saying and just keep having faith and trusting trus in the universe that you know it'll provide yeah correct you are you're a big believer in that stuff and my partner Amy's the exact same everything happens for a reason she she relies on the universe probably as much as you I feel between the two do like every morning most mornings yeah wake up and like you do grateful when you wake up in the morning Greatful and I Journal y yeah nice and I meditate yeah right it's either meditation or breath work depends on what I love breath work I do breath work yeah and um not all the time but I do do it yeah yeah probably when I'm more frustrated than but that's another way of self-regulating it is yeah and actually breath work is the most like it's an easy thing but is the hardest thing for people to do cuzz it brings up all the emotions brings up everything that's trapped in your body you know and I I've found that over the past probably six years more times I did breath work the deeper I go yeah right and the deeper the level of that trauma or wound comes up and you're like okay we're going to we're going to go in again you know so have you been you said you get emotional when you do it but I've actually watch people do it and like full on balling their eyes out fulling scaming I've cried yeah yeah but not full on crazy to see hey but it's cool CU you know that what they're doing is working as well exactly exactly everything's trapped in your body like it's just on it's yeah and we've been taught like so different like as a young male we been taught to go out and forget about it you know don't talk about it don't talk BLS don't talk like it's weak to speak and yeah yeah yeah and it's sort of like no man like that's what you're teaching the young fellas what I'm teachings obiously like I like I'm not a breath F practitioner and stuff but I only do like little bits of it with the kids I only like 5 10 minutes like especially after their Fitness I'll bring them back down lay them down and then we do breath work for about five minutes yeah right just to self-regulate and just they they go this is probably the best the best part of the workout because they're sort of like connecting back to themselves you know and just they're getting them uh I like I took my I put my shoes on but I've just noticed and a lot of people can't see this but I'll get Daniel to lift his uh lift his feet up he's actually got his uh shoes off he's true to his name walkout Warrior that's right that's the connection connection yeah I need to do it way more often hey and that's what you're getting the kids to do is connect yeah as well yeah take their off walk around bare feet cuz this connection yeah yeah yeah and she looks after us she does Mother Earth man I guess she's very very Val [ __ ] it I'm taking my shoes off take them off take them off I'll just take my shoes off I won't take anything else off uh so when you moved up from Kuna you said you were now don't don't say it because I want to see if I was actually listening properly was it 14 12 12 see oh I wasn't listening I was close close and when you moved up here who' you come up with uh parents y yeah me and um my four other siblings yeah nice um so Dad and Mom moved us up here we moved up here before y I think we're only about seven Yeah okay or not even seven yeah I think it was earlier you're the eldest yeah yeah I think I think it was like yeah I think it was a bit earlier but um yeah moved up here mhm and like being homesick and everything like that no friends and Mom and Dad were like oh let's just move back yeah back to kuna back to kuna wow [ __ ] change but then then it's like that goes no we getting out of here CU nothing's here yeah yeah it's it's good to grow up in a small country town I did it myself I totally agree yeah um cuz you made your own fun you did you know played every sport on the I even playing lawn balls I played footy Union Cricket lawn balls and Tennis you be a gun at L ball I did and went to state for yeah there you go but yeah I was I was good at like all of them yeah even basketball I was pretty short but I was still pretty pretty handy at that quick black fellow just run around everyone yeah that's the best attribute I had was quick and on my feet yeah um but yeah moving moving back up here is probably the best thing that Mom and Dad ever did for us definitely for us too it's not wasn't just for them it was for us so the opportunities too for for their kids like the opportunity is endless are here it is yeah definitely you have to send your kids to boarding school if you're living in cooner and I can guarantee your parents couldn't afford four kids to go to Fu it was yeah because the closest boarding school was Farah I think over in torth yeah right so yeah but it was good we um come up here and more opportunities um the footy the sporting heaps more opportunities with that um like I got to travel around with foot2 yeah you know so so a lot of people don't know Daniel was pretty handy at foot2 he won't tell you he he was he's pretty um pretty uh what's the word I'm looking for here he's pretty humble that's the word I'm looking for yeah but he also tell he's pretty handy too you asked me yeah yeah exactly he won't just go out and tell you it's uh but it was good it was good to like I remember playing my first um a grade game I think I was only like 18 I was going to ask you that how old you were when you first 18 I was Captain a grade at 21 yeah wow so as a lot of people probably know but for those that don't know uh Amy my partner and myself own a tattooo studio which is where this podcast studio is yeah M mer Beach and uh Daniel's actually played footy with uh some of the footy players that we've had in here from the NRL probably the biggest name that you played with is uh Jamal fogy is that correct yeah yeah yeah yeah big hole yeah big hole big hole Jamal I played with him played against him played with him how how at home or where no at he'd be laughing at this for sure there there's a few NRL people that when we play when I playing with tweed yeah they're all Titans yeah cuz when when I was playing with tweed that's when Titans first come in was 2006 yeah that's when Jamal was there yeah I think he a bit after was a bit after yeah yeah uh so you had like all the NRL players dropping back to the seag gos with the feated club me how to get play yeah and then but the the funniest thing was like if you don't know you know Shannon Walker yeah yeah yeah could run oh man freaking fast ass I was um always me me me and him like cuz we had Sprint training yeah so I would have to go up against him no chance I'm like bro just stay back let me just let me creep let me like take off five minutes yeah give me 10 m 10 minutes not 10 me 10 me you catch me by 40 he was quick quick he he was he was most humblest person and just sort of yeah he he was quick ass he used to be at the roosters 2A no he was no he went to he was only at Titans Okay but then baly headed fell swear he had B shaved head at the end of his career and oh he sort of trimmed it like M like curly hair yeah but yours is yours is is gone you lost yours at seven 17 but yeah was um yeah now he he went on to the rugby s yes he did with uh with ly and Wendell around the same time wasn't it yeah yeah so he went over there he was G bro he was so good man he was quick but um did you ever beat him oh [ __ ] no way when I cheated and I took off early cutting the corners doing the 400s H it was it was really really like especially that team when we won it in 2007 Queensland cup seag go yeah we played remember those photos we playing ready dolphins and um what year 2007 bro I was at so you probably don't know this but I was at um I don't think I've told you I was at redcliff in 20 8 really yeah yeah wow yeah so I was a but I did a whole pre-season and so they imported me down from not many people know this but they imported me down from um rockampton rockampton so I played in Mai then went to so I finished school 17 uh 2004 went to South Mai and played up there for a few years y so they imported me straight out of school up to there yeah wow and then they'll pay me 500 bucks a game in 2005 yeah well 18y old and then from there went to Rocky and played at Rocky brothers for a bit with um remember Steven pal used to be like the development officer for the Broncos older fell gray hair You' know him if you saw him so he got me down there I played there for a few years and then I didn't want to play for the comets and then I got got got poached to go to redcliff yeah and then I did a full pre-season down there and um got tackled at training got SM smoked in the back for prolapse this never played again until last year so I literally could have played against you if I had that next year had that next year so that's a little little detour of your story of well there but we literally would have come up against come against yeah if I actually played yeah no wow crazy yeah that's crazy man yeah I didn't I didn't think I'd told you that said that I went to redcliff but I didn't tell you the whole story yeah yeah but um yeah back to Mom and Mom and Dad y so from what age did you start knowing that you're pretty handy at footy and getting noticed by people and stuff and there's this little black fell from Kuna that was pretty handy it was more around probably 17 yeah okay 178 I think I had my sort of you know Purple Patch yeah was pretty much from 17 to I say 26 yeah little half pack eh yeah half pack but then like moved into hooker yeah just played in the Hales really yeah could tackle a I hate tackling that's why you're halfback I got thrown in hooker and yeah y you just had to tackle yeah you can't no and I was the smallest out there so they just keep running at me it doesn't matter if I'm in the half back or in the middle they just Cy legs were running straight over top of I remember one time um I was playing with cin yeah and we played M final yeah play M and his fullback kept running straight at me m I said bro keep running at me you're going to do you're going to be like that I know Jo every time picked him up put him on his back cuz I used to kick it like in the corner and I used to run down down and he used to vline it for me I was like bro come on used to do the Bret Brett Stewart and just run halfway across straight across and every time on his back and he didn't like it cuz he's like your old C and I was like I've told you once don't run at me old head he just kept doing it and I kept going I was like oh this is just going to keep happening he just done stop so yeah right but it was more it's more like I had to yeah really stand up for myself there what um what age did you start so I'll get back to where we started with this whole podcast at what age did you start to do indigenous art and notice that you were pretty handy at it yeah like you knew it was a bit of a hidden talent for yourself in a way it was um was funny thing is it was over in Perth I was over there playing touch playing footing yeah playing footy yeah right so playing with Western Reds over there oh yeah [ __ ] have we still got Jersey yeah mate that'll be worse the this this was like not not in the NRL but this was like still Western Reds we flying in Sy because they have yeah flying to Sydney every second week it was the worst it was [ __ ] that would have been hectic punish too we F over Friday play Saturday morning leav satday Y no thanks so um yeah I was over there and I just went to a a like an art gallery yeah um and I just seen all this nice like patterns like this and I was like I'm going to try this yeah and that's where it all started I didn't didn't no one taught me just on a bit of paper and Pen canvas bro canvas and then I'll actually send you the first painting I did yeah got a photo of I'll I'll actually share it in a in a video that we do yeah and then yeah ever since then I sort of kept going on with it but just just little bits little bits and then it wasn't until 2017 I started walk B Warriors yeah okay and then um pretty big page now too isn't it you've grown a bit of traction over the years traction yeah it's it's been good it's been good um like big sort of you've done some happen yeah like ring is Western ex stuff like that and that would be your biggest one would it yeah that and a roal refere jersey yes I remember that actually yeah you've done a few players boots too haven't you like the the boots I've done done a fair few boots your biggest one at the moment I've designed um Fair few jerseys too have you just with stres you know oh yeah R strudwick he was actually a mentor of mine when I was 17 up at um you now used to do those Queens rugby league camps so he was my mentor for one of the years oh wow yeah and he's the one that got me actually did them yeah but mine was out gting oh yeah [ __ ] hell cold out there too when they have them on yeah freezing cold it was cold um but yeah like going back to the artwork side of it yeah I started really getting into it when I started my business yeah 2017 and then it's just Pro slowly progressed progress but it's sort of it's sort of an up and down business too like it the moment I'm like it's a bit low yeah struggling yeah cuz probably two months ago it was huge I remember that R yeah I was doing a mural at of school then going back and doing a 2 m by um 1,500 canvas yeah wow so I was yeah I was cooked I was cooked but and with painting like with myself I know that I've got to concentrate on one thing correct otherwise it's just too hard yeah and very in work too isn't it yeah yeah like you you've seen him yeah this took ages and it's like what's that proba meter and a half by 80 cm like it's not huge no no no it's not that big but it's took him like a while to do and probably me Annoying him talking [ __ ] too probably didn't know but it's it's it's something that I love cuz it's yeah it's authentic it is it's not just like I don't plan it yeah like you like you seen I just went and just did it and then I had to stop for a little bit go back and do it again um so good but yeah with with the artwork it's it's helped me with my healing yeah cuz that's how I heal too like I heal by painting and connecting you have you have that time to do it too don't you like to heal like you have that time to focus on yourself you have that time to like I say to a lot of my people that I look after you need to do something that you enjoy doing y for you to to be a better person or to feel better about yourself yeah 100% and yours is painting yeah Mine mine's pain and if yours isn't painting I think I know you fairly well but I think your other thing is working out yeah yeah so if you're not painting you're not working out mental health is 100% 100% cuz that's but sometimes when I do this there is thoughts and feelings come up but I I let them come up and not not cuz one there's a few times there that I've been painting and I just start crying and stuff you know and I'm like yeah wow it's like the whatever's coming out and the story that people give me to actually paint yeah like I feel it yeah yeah that's I remember this one time this lady um told me her story about her son MH um committed suicide [ __ ] because he lost his um partner like marriage and kids and the house and everything thought there was nothing left nothing left so he two weeks later he killed himself and not good so she got me to tell his stories through the painting and bro when I finished I was like crying man because it felt so everything come up everything was released I am I can relate to that empath I went down that path yeah yeah I've been there I've been there I know exactly what you mean man it's um it's it's [ __ ] hard hey it is hard yeah it is hard but at the same time when you speak about it it helps it helps big time yeah I uh I the person closest to me in my heart you know who it is yeah yeah um she's been there as well so like for we connected over something like one of our very first like times we went on a date we both opened up like that's the you can't open up much more than that much more yeah and uh we both we're actually at the area where she thought about doing it so I was like yeah wow so you you come on yeah at the right time yeah I did cuz she was struggling like but it was it wasn't that exact time but it was like she'd been in that same spot but the last time she was in that same spot was when she wanted to do that so I know how you feel I've been there myself and I've I've had numerous numerous times where I've thought about doing it and it's always after a relationship breakup or when you're financially stressed or Y it's the Heartbreak eh correct it's that's the biggest thing heart women men yeah or could be the other way it could be the other way around you know yeah could be BLS but like I'm I'm not against gay people I've got mates that are gay as well so yeah as long as you're happy and you're in love that's all Love's Love's a good thing yeah are you in love love I am in love how good how good it is it is it's the best feeling now it definitely is man and if you're struggling well then you sort of she helps she helps like cuz she's like this is is all your [ __ ] but I'm still going to be here just to you know she knows when you're struggling too doesn't she yeah man she's um she's she just tells me the truth though that's what we need sometimes man that's crazy [ __ ] snap out of it and do this sometimes that's all you need to hear you do you do and I think most people don't like hearing the truth I love it I love the truth I I cuz you know when people tell the truth they care about you correct and it's how I uh how I try and live my life now I I never used to be the best what I'm saying now like I never used to be the most honest person and never used to speak the truth and I'd like I'm I can talk [ __ ] with the best of them but I've noticed now that it's not always like the best thing to do well it's definitely not the best thing to do but it's not the best traits to have by talking [ __ ] all the time you need to [ __ ] speak from here yeah oh 100% man it's it's uh you learn from your mistakes is what I'll say I don't want to say too much but yeah but it's a choice too eh correct every that's what mean like people don't realize it's a choice yeah everything's a choice you know everything's a choice to wake up or stay in bed you know it's everything's a choice to go to the gym or not you know to have that beer or not to have that beer yeah exactly like don't blame other people for your mistakes or your correct where you are y it's owning everything that you do cuz that's we can't they can't control us no we no one can control anyone but yourself that's what Amy says to me all the time you do what you want to do but don't come to me when you've when you've done the wrong thing and you want forgiveness or whatever because that was your choice yeah correct but Amy's uh very Amy and I both do what we want to do but we always end up back at that spot which is each other y we both don't drink anymore yep well Amy's never drunk pretty much y I used to drink all the time yep and other stuff that I used to do as well but I don't do any of that anymore you said to me the other day that you you don't drink much anymore if you do I don't it's only a couple of couple of beers like we learn hey man i' it's harder to drink now cuz you know why I think I know why I I do it most people do it is to fit in correct you know like I I took steroids yeah just just to to fit in fit in yeah um be bigger yeah and people might like me because I'm bigger cuz yeah that's [ __ ] up in the head isn't it you know that's that's a wound that that all comes back from what happened you know and now like I get to I'm aware of everything now yeah and I get to go back it's been that um [ __ ] struggling here with the cord for people that are listening and not watching um I come that what you just said then that comes back to being indigenous little young fell that was always smaller than everyone else too and you thought well I'll take roids to be big like everyone else and I won't stand out with being that little little fell anymore yeah that's where that yeah that's where it come from it come from that come from being shame but being small yeah you know I need to be bigger than people might respect me more yeah or I might get validated more that's why I did steroids I did drugs yeah drank yeah I did all that yeah but none of that none of that matters now yeah does yeah if you don't love yourself you wouldn't even know looking at you now would you yeah no like if you don't love yourself yeah you're seeking validation outside of you correct yeah so so true [ __ ] that's that hits home that's a that's a um I'm going to cut that up into a real because that's [ __ ] that's spot on what you just said then that's what I was living by yeah I was living seeking validation cuz you know why cuz I wasn't heard as a young kid yeah like when I did speak up yeah when I did speak up yeah I didn't you know like I went to tell someone but I couldn't yeah and that kept me small is it because you didn't have someone there too like you didn't feel like you had someone close enough to to tell that to tell yeah yeah cuz the funny thing is you don't want to tell your parents like I was like yeah cuz I was ashamed yeah of course I'm like like it was a male yeah and I'm like oh this is like what I'm if I'm gay or you know that's what my thought was I'm like I don't want to tell them that you know so nothing about gay people but at that at that time I was like no I don't want to be gay yeah I'm not gay I don't want anything cut my sphincter yeah yeah but then like go I didn't have anyone to talk to yeah yeah yeah and that's that's what's kept me small yeah and was that because another reason I feel too because and I could be completely wrong here but because you'd moved from Kuna to the coast and you didn't have those childhood friends that you had that connection with that you could just tell anyone yeah yep that's what I I feel that's probably why that happened yeah 100% cuz I was like oh I've left it all there yeah you know I don't have to talk about it yeah little did I know that everything was going to come up when I started cuz I use footy as an outlet yeah and there would have been a lot of other boys that were doing it too oh 100% so was normal 100% And because you used to go out smash like smash people and just get everything out which was good yeah but it was a suppression too yeah like I suppressed a lot of things by playing sport yeah okay but now when I come to retirement everything started coming up you're not retired I am retired I still play Touch foot yeah exactly no but with with League I just watch it on like I'm not doing that anything again but that's but was that's what it was everything come up and yeah and that's when I was like no I need to deal with this cuz I can't all my relationships and everything were the same y insecurities everything kept coming up cuz everything I haven't dealt with we're playing out in them relationships same time every time same time every time same same sort of same problems um relationships break up because of X Y and Z you try and fix say oh yeah I'm ready for a relationship again XYZ reoccurs again and it's just a vicious circle yeah cuz I was like biggest people pleas it cuz I'm the same bro validation I still am to believe it or not yeah oh but you're aware of it yeah I am I am you're aware of it but I just that's why I'm in the industry I'm in to I guess yeah because I love helping people you love helping people yeah it can be like a double-edged sword though H it certainly is you're really nice but really nice people [ __ ] on you know yeah oh 98% of the time yeah and that was me that was me I was but I'm glad you've noticed that and I've worked so hard on myself I probably need to work hard on myself to be fair and that's being being completely honest yeah that's good yeah that's the first step of being honest with yourself though is it yeah cuz once you're honest with yourself you're honest with everyone else yeah and authentic you know I've definitely worked on myself like by stopping drinking and everything else so I'm definitely I was here and I'm probably up here now yeah but I can eventually get to up here yeah but it's just that's why I'm doing the boxing stuff and that now to try and better myself again and get a bit fitter lose a bit of this good for my mentals as well but it is isn't it it is it's a focus yeah definitely but also it's not it's not a um it's neverend in no your healing Journey no no you're right we we've come here and like we were born we born into all the drama and Trauma and stuff from our past yeah you know our past lives and especially generational trauma yeah you know and oh [ __ ] isn't that the truth that's that's a lot there to unpack you know and and it's not going to take no years no and everyone's different too correct yeah everyone's different and and do you do you talk to someone about it do you talk to like I used to myself I'll I'll lead off here yeah I I'd seen a psychiatrist and psychologist and stuff for for my problems and stuff that I had going on um I definitely feel like it helped but I also feel like they're money grabbing away so you learn the fundamentals of the stuff that they give you when you first go for your first 10 lessons or whatever it is and then slowly detach yourself from those things put them into practice I think it's more the westernized of it yeah correct yeah when you think about it breath work brings up everything yeah it does and you can heal through it yeah you know and it's um breath work meditation yeah it's all in US everything's inside us that we need we just need to tap it tap into it they say yoga is good for it too yeah cuz you're breathing and moving it all you're moving your body yeah cuz it's all stored you know allor energy all energy yeah cuz that's what we are at the end of the day is it we're all energy water and energy yeah that's it man and I'm big believer in man spiritual like I've been on the being indigenous as well I I'm not so much that I I I get it but I'm not the humongous believer like some people are not saying you are or you aren't but I feel you are yeah um yeah oh defin I'm definitely am definitely am I I I've got that touch but not like you do yeah but that that's the thing like that's why I can't do this that's what I mean but you you'll have you have a gift to something else you know yeah I think it's me helping people's my my gift I feel that's it yeah that's it everyone's got a gift that's just talking talking I feel like can talk yeah all the time time you're a very good talker also yeah I am it's but I think knowing when to speak to yeah I think like I I've put heaps out there on social media but I've really wound it back in now and just concate yeah I'll just concentrate on myself and not that's great not projecting it onto like the world and other people cuz it's what I'm putting in out like I might putting negative Vibes out I'll probably get them back you know yeah especially on social media cuz I've had so many racist people oh I've seen them first it's crazy but you've been deleting some recently too haven't you yeah I've deleted some but I just don't get into it cuz I know that that's what they want it it's their perception of yeah and their perception of themselves yeah you know yeah and half the time they're [ __ ] nobodies anyway that are literally just to waste your time yeah yeah if you actually they sat across the from you and I like that we are there's no way in the world they'd say that [ __ ] that they [ __ ] say no definitely definitely not they if they get to know me they wouldn't do it in the world no it's they do it once and they [ __ ] wouldn't be standing there they wouldn't be able to talk again definitely not definitely not it's their perception though way and and they're allowed their opinion yeah and everyone's allowed their opinion but just don't [ __ ] put it on social media oh man like [ __ ] off sometimes I'll just I'll just shake my head and I don't even reply I'm just sort of like oh they must be hurting or they must be going through some stuff so and that's exactly what it is but all they want at the end of the day is a reaction is that or for you to even read it if you read it they're [ __ ] happy oh yeah yeah sometimes I just I just like I'll get notification I'm like okay this is you can tell who what it is straight away you're like that's a new account that's a different name to different name yeah yeah that's I've become I've noticed that kind of stuff with the our social media as well that it's the same people that like and and comment and stuff and as soon as you see a different name you you know pretty much straight away what it is I've got a a deep question here for you and I totally totally fine if you can't answer it straight up straight off the bat but I reckon you'll be able to and you'll um what's probably been the biggest challenge for you in your life so far that's pretty deep yeah biggest challenge but I reckon I know what it is because we've already started talking about it but I could be wrong too yeah it's more it's um unpacking myself yeah unpacking to get to the truth yeah so the biggest that it's like the healing Journey has been the biggest it's been the biggest lesson but biggest gift yeah because I can see you getting emotion it's yeah it's more like I never knew who I was yeah cuz well as you do you you put on mask and try and be someone that you're not correct but when you start unpacking yourself and start realizing oh that's not me yeah then just everything starts falling away then people start falling away places start falling away and it's like so true man it's the so so true the death of the old self yeah and you're trying to grab on to it hold on to it but it's not you no and it's it's that's what I've learned like you've got to let people go that were just supposed to be in your life for a certain time Y and not for the whole time n n and people come into your life for a reason y that's it yeah it's either it's either a lesson or you know a blessing you know or a gift you know so it's blessing or a curse as they say yeah oh yeah definitely but it's it's sort of like every opportunity is a possibility correct so true cuz you look at it you go oh that didn't work but that's a possibility of going in a different direction yeah and that's where I'm like I have faith in in universe is kind provide me where I would need to go yeah yeah it's uh it's it's deep [ __ ] like it's I um you've probably find now that you're at that stage of your life too that I'm using my hands here for people that are just listening but you your circle of people used to be this big so quite large yeah but now your circle I've removed one of my hands is like the size of squeezing your index finger and your thumb and your circle now that big cuz that's all you need correct cuz when you when you're like this yeah you're like I need these people to validate me and yeah but when you start loving yourself everything starts going back in like this and you don't need any the ones that matter hey yeah people that matter will stay with you or they'll come into your life yeah cuz you've changed your vibration you've changed your energy y so I I've definitely been at that stage of my my life my circle used to be and like I said to you this before I'm a big people pleaser person but my circle used to be humongous and it still kind of is quite large yeah but like at one stage of my life my my mother won't mind me saying this but there's one stage of my life where I cut my parents off just because I needed to realize who I was so yeah and mom mom knows cuz I told Mom about this after I reattached myself but I also just needed to find who I was they're the last people you should probably cut off as your parents yeah but it is though like it's it's a it's a solo Journey at the end of the day yeah they can't fix you yeah no one else can fix you you got to do it yourself I was in a bad place too to be completely honest and I thought that was the right thing right to but it definitely wasn't but you yeah but you only thought it was the right thing at that time yeah it probably Sorry probably was to an extent it was probably the right thing to do but probably not for as long as I did it for like I did it for quite a long time like it wasn't one or two weeks or one or two months it was like over 12 months yeah so was quite a long time a long time which is stupid but let's be honest but but look where like it's now we're a lot closer again but yeah it's just it is it's part of the journey man cuz I went through similar stuff like like I rarely talk to my brothers and sisters cuz I sort of it's not that I meant to it's just the way happened you know cuz like I trying to cut everything out that well everything's Falling Away anyway everything falls away it does like and your higher self will start detaching stuff that's not meant for you yeah and it is like and it's like I'm at the stage right now like works really slow but I know it's going to pick up but yeah I have faith in the universe in my cuz sometimes I ring up or email about like some work or get a quote and stuff yeah and I'm always like oh I need to write back need to write back but you just trusted that if that job's meant for you it'll come through yeah it will but you also need to push push yourself to way to yourself yeah so it's it's it's a balancing act with what I'm doing um it's yeah I have a question about that kind of stuff which is probably another reason why we're here too is to promote your business um but how do you find like that's part of any job I guess but there's so many indigenous artists out there and there's so many that are good so many that aren't as good yeah and how do you how do you place yourself in your work in I guess the hardest how do you not price your work but how do you price your time and your skill against others yeah I think it's valuing my time it's hard is a hard hard thing to do it was it was man cuz I'm like oh what am I what am I charging too much or what am I charging or am I not charging enough yeah charging enough but once you start realizing your worth and understanding your value yeah I just blurt it out yeah and if they take it they take it they don't they don't well that's it's not on me you know like it's if they really want my work they'll pay for it you know so you told me a story the other day and I'm not going to name the the the people yeah but you done some work for someone and then they ask you to do some work again again and then you told them that well this is a price now yep they didn't want part of you no they didn't want part of it no that's pretty [ __ ] from them isn't it really it's like a big company too you know so I'm sort of like it's showing your worth like you helped them out the first time that's right it's it's I helped them out but now it's sort of they realized that you're actually very good at what you did and it sold their product if they want to they want another release then there's it's obviously been good for them clearly cuz they've come back to you yeah and um now it's sort of like Noah it's it's like pretty sad really isn't it it is like it's taking advantage of someone that's someone's work but someone's you're this little and don't take this the wrong way no but you're this little pee or this little grain of salt in the ocean that's right and they're just trying to wish-wash this salt around in the ocean and they feeding the ocean and take taking advantage of that's probably the shittest explanation or example of what they're doing to you no but that's exactly what it is though yeah pretty sad it's um you just did a real big one um for V8 superc cars that was yeah it Scotty Taylor's cuz was it V8 or the one below the one below I think yeah I thought it was pretty cool yeah yeah it was it was Unreal it was um so how that come about so his wife is um she goes to the same gym as me okay and she's like I'll be which is give him a little shout out oh airlock Runaway Bay yeah nice B and Sh love that um and yeah so she she's like I got a job for you V ke and I went yeah sweet and so I just did it digitally Y and I come up on procreate or something like that yeah procreate and um I think I don't Fresco yeah yeah that that one yeah and then yeah send it off to the um the guy that does all the stickers and stuff and yeah they just did it up and come up sweet yeah come up good man you know what would have been cool if they took you to the track and well hopefully um hopefully I'll get a chance next year because I I think I'm going to do it next year I'll definitely go oh this is in my contract I'll come up get the manager involved I want I want I want the penous I pit entry I want to be part of this part of the pit crew but it's it's like that's pretty cool though man getting my work correct like out there so people can see well it's uh this is a question without notice and a lot of them are I did send you a few questions but I don't know if I'll get to many of those but um if there was a company that you could collab with any company in the world what one would it be and that's without notice so I don't mind if we come back to that question either but um there's some big companies out there man and for them to show but I I think what I would love is a company that gives back to people which one of them did you thought yeah not so much not so much no um it yeah like a worldwide company that would actually give back to people yeah because um because that's what I do I give back to the community you do so much so with my programs and stuff like going over to Perth last year was it this year last year you did something over there yeah I went to Perth for yeah play Touch over there yeah yeah you did you gave some clothes away while you were over there too didn't you yeah yeah yeah which is pretty cool y um yeah and just sort of yeah I think what the the world is we just need to give back yeah I totally age taking all the time man this is why yeah this is why I'm doing this in a way yeah to to give people a chance to give back yeah like I'm just here to ask a few questions and get people's stories and you're the you're just a driver mate yeah you're you're the C but it's good though like this is what it this what everyone needs they do they definitely do and they need to feel comfortable and they need to feel like not that I'm their mate but they need to feel like they're comfortable to hear and they can come in here and speak their mind and and if we have to we don't even release the episode y it's a chance for them to get something off chest like it's a healing for them as well in a way oh speaking is healing too yeah I totally agree with that yeah but um what what gets you motivated and what what drives you to to do what you do is it be is it what you did when what happened to you when you were younger and is it the kids that drive you yeah yeah yeah definitely it's um that that can that is one one part of it one part of it y but a smaller about leaving this world a better place a legacy and a way Legacy yeah leaving my footprint you know and that's there there you go so but it is like it's leaving a footprint so yeah if someone else is inspired what I do yeah and they want to do it then they can keep carrying on y you know but it's more about it's also more about um really honoring myself yeah and understanding myself in all aspects of life you know that's deep That's Heavy that's that's cool yeah yeah so that that's where that's where it's sort of like don't leave any stone unturned yeah work hard as you can to yeah but work hard on something that you love Yeah yourself I love myself I love the artwork I love connection kids but it's all connection yeah that's what comes down to connection energy yep [ __ ] Earth how good what uh I heard a a question for you and this is one completely off to off topic of what we're doing now who's the uh the best football player you've ever played with and he doesn't have to be the best player he could have been the best person around the sheds he could have been the best and it doesn't even have to be football I reckon I already know who this is to be fair and you played touch with him just recently oh princy yeah Matt I looked up to princy yeah he's a good BL yeah he's a good foot playo get him on the podcast man talk [ __ ] but it's I Hest you can say um probably the best yeah best footy player that I play with yeah is probably Brad Davis Brad Davis three or I know that name he was from whereis creek whereis creek where's that it's like not far from Tamworth okay yeah moved up here and did he play for the Titans he played Titans yeah I do know that play TW and Titans like he was captain of the the decade team Queensland team of State Queensland yeah where bro he he was he wasn't quick he was just 5'8 he wasn't quick he just smart man like just very smart and um humble yeah was on a show P he just did his work black fell or that no you're right no he just yeah where so he he would probably just with everything y yeah well that didn't expect that to be fair no no but it's it's it's yeah I think that's the impression that you get from yeah him yep mine's actually like a funny one and everyone knows this name and this kid was literally one of the best football players I've ever seen he's giant huge big boy he was humongous when he was 11 or 12 yeah and I'm gonna slowly rattle off and see if you can guess who it is he um he started his career at the Broncos and he was um humongous boy played school boy footy at St Brandon's Dave Taylor yeah I played him and I was like wow he was a freak he's massive man and can play mate he had was one of the most talented kids I'd ever seen play he was 11 or 12 and he was like you know when he was in like obviously he wasn't as musle and stuff but he was that size when he was like 1213 that's crazy he was a giant massive 5'8 wasn't a front R played 58 yeah the torpedo bombs of Matt Burton's torpedo bombs don't even compare like M that that kid was a freak back in the day and then he put on a bit of size and went straight into yeah front row and second row and stuff like that but the most gifted football I'd ever seen now the 60 K he's massive boyy but the nicest BL ever too A lot of people used to say he was Dumb and but it was just country boy from Bluff that I yeah I think I go off people's ability and yeah not not just ability but who they are as a person yeah he was good like too you know like I don't care if you played NL I don't care if you acted I don't care it's who you are yeah yeah that makes you who you are do your job man yeah like I was like people like oh she's so beautiful he's so gorgeous I'm like yeah but he's a [ __ ] person [ __ ] person he's ugly like they're ugly like you're [ __ ] with pretty much 100% probably shouldn't swear as much as I do but it's how I express my emotions sometimes but that's that's what I mean like yeah yeah um I asked this question before and I feel like I just want to get validation in this what's your what's your um I don't even know how to ask this question what's your favorite thing to do if you could like you had to pick one thing one there's two things that come to my mind straight away for you but if there was one thing that you could do for the rest of the life that you'd be grateful and happy for and to to do and not winge or not be upset that was just something that you wanted to do every day every day what would it be it's a hard one I that is a hard one but I reckon I already know the answer but I've already paint painting paint painting would be up there yeah for sure like if I can do that for the rest of my life I would and obviously it helps that you can get paid to do it yeah like that that's part yeah the thing when but you don't need to be paid to be happy to do it as well that's right like the thing is it's it's authentic yeah and it comes with love comes with the story yeah but at the same time when it is slow it's sort of like I need to do this or I need to I need I need but need to reconnect in a way yeah yeah yeah and it's sort of like losing the side of what it actually means to paint sit down and paint yeah um cuz sometimes it would feel like a chore for you in a way yeah and that's probably when your mind's not in the right space that's right yeah and I find it hard when I'm not in the right space because it doesn't flow they call it artist brain is that correct yeah 100% talks better all the time cuz it is it's it's real man like it's it's sort of like if I'm not feeling right yeah it's so hard to paint yeah like that probably would have taken me two days yeah right if it wasn't you know like I would have went block or something yeah but I definitely like that's something I love but I think doing something that I love without with ease yeah without any that's painting or is it something else yeah painting yeah being around people that respect my time and energy y That's all I want yeah that's that's all we have we're time is the biggest currency in now in our life you know y if you give someone time that's the best [ __ ] thing you can yeah you can't put a price on it no definitely not no I hate people that do that [ __ ] personally but I guess they have a business to run as well at the end of the day their times um but yeah it's just knowing your worth like you said I feel just knowing your worth man and your value and the people that know that too yeah so they respect it yeah yeah definitely yeah it's um it's 100% it's h what do you think of the what do you think of the podcast mate this is good it's pretty cool yeah it's uh something different not like you see a lot of them that are are all black and yeah stuff but I like I think this is this is is your it's me hey it's definitely me there's a surfboard in there yeah there's me little uh Sydney 6's uh indigenous um Cricket helmet that I got from this year's team for captaining them so that's just a little bit of something to break up just yeah he's very humble too but he just slipped that in there did you see it's just to hide our coffee that's all it's there for um but it's good man this is but this is you this is all of you yeah it is so you got the old the old Mongoose in that as well and your paintings there hidden away but I'm actually putting a shelf up here I'm going to put put it up on the Shelf yeah nice um so your artwork will be on two walls of the four two walls yeah yeah so um I'll um I might bring in the an indigenous Jersey that you designed y that'd be [ __ ] cool and you can obviously have back put cuz it's only just hanging up in my I'll bring the NL one yeah that'd be cool yeah for people that don't know and can't see I can't really turn the camera around but um there's a few indigenous jerseys in here as well so um there's a Titans IND indigenous Jersey from this year um that they beat the Broncos in it's actual game warn one and then I'm a a mad rooster supporter don't judge me is that this year's one no yeah that's from when um when they won the comp last um that's when Lil was still there oh wow yeah so that's not a game warn one it's just a um a normal indigenous round Jersey but it's got all the whole whole team signature on it nice which is pretty cool but your boy Joshy Karin's uh Jersey up there uh say his training Jersey from the Warriors Warriors I was G say that so um for people that don't know Daniel did a um that people that follow NRL and don't follow it Josh Karen plays for the Canterbury bulldogs at the moment uh it's his first year there and uh Daniel designed a head gear that Joshy Kum wears to hide his um hair yeah so doesn't go in his face but Daniel did a um big design um on his head gear tell us a bit about how that um that don't oh well it all come from the gym too yeah cuz he did a work out there didn't he he did a workout but his dad went there yeah okay and his dad like said oh you need to work with Josh you wants to bring his own head head gear out original design he's a proud indigenous he's proud indigenous man too he's played for uh indigenous all star and everything yeah so and he's a good BL too's real humble man he is he's real humble and he's very we got yeah we got in contact and yeah I said I'll do two designs up for him and he L the first one and just went with that and then now he's went but he gives the head gear away he does a lot of people don't know that I knew that he gives it away after every game to a um to a supporter in the crowd so Mo mostly young kids too yeah it's all young kids and there this one one time they played The Roosters at um I think it was on Central Coast not long ago and this guy contacted me I knew him y he used to live up here I think it was and he said my son loves Josh curan yeah he goes do you mind if like I do a banner up with your logo on it yeah and see if Josh can come over and sign it yeah so I actually told Josh what what was happening and I said look out for this kid with the sign gave him the I remember the foot footage I saw that footage yeah yeah that's pretty cool he he was he was pretty stoked but that's what kind of person is though yeah Josh's got the biggest heart and any of you in a position like that why not hey so I remember I don't know if you know this story but uh Josh told me about this when he come and got tattooed at our old shop and uh remember he used to have the old head gears that he had and um yeah and he's giving him away he got told to stop that really yeah so they told told him to stop and I'll retract this if Josh tells me it's incorrect but I'm pretty sure this is incor is is correct yeah but the company that he was doing them for um told him to stop and then he had a few IND uh in demeanors off the field and uh they pulled the contract of the head gears and yeah so they pretty much now he's started his own started his own yeah yeah with um impact yeah pretty cool yeah it's pretty it's pretty cool and it's it's just get that's another thing of giving back yeah yeah it's pretty cool that he's in that position to firstly um like proud indigenous man which he's very vocal about it which is great he's also a white like's he's a white indigenous boy he's no darker than you no and uh long flowy hair that's probably not too dark either yeah yeah um it'd be great to get his story I feel like he's uh would be in the same boat as you and I yeah probably told to and I'm speaking for him here but um I feel like he'd be in the same boat we were when we were younger yeah definitely and now he's the total opposite he's pushes it as hard as he can I think I think it's good see I think like especially the high high profile players like the troll does everyone smashes a troll but the [ __ ] that the tra does is is amazing I don't I don't give a [ __ ] what anyone says and if people want to roast me for it I don't give a [ __ ] yeah I don't really care any like I don't really care I only see him what he does like on the field but off off the field with kids do yeah that's exactly what I'm talking about yeah I mean with the kids like and and it's just the the media they bash they're the scums of the earth they are the scums they just pick like a little bit and they just run with it and then just make it into like this big ball see if they can get us to pick on us we know we've made it when they're picking on us yeah we need to be more famous we keep dropping all these names we might be right yeah I know anyone else out there come through the door if you're there but yeah what's what's next for you oh any plans you got any work in progress you got any I'm not winding this up by the way either it's just question just doing a design on the iPad you are at the moment yeah y for someone or yeah it's gone back on the Caribbean oh nice so theyve um where they from Brisbane they've [ __ ] that's cool um they're actually taking taking a year off and going so design just the back of it yeah how'd they get in contact with you um so she got in contact me she started following me liked all my like stuff that I do and did she do the old punish of just liking everything getting your attention no we actually um she actually's been through a lot of stuff too yeah okay and sort of so her partner she's got kids and that and she's gone through a bit but we just connected and she's like I'm going to use you for if I need something then yeah like a year later she's like excuse me I was never going to go with anyone else except you so it's it's good when you get feedback like that I feel you get that feedback too is because for people that don't know Daniel does a lot of um like puts not a lot but put stuff on his story with motivational or if Daniel strugg he'll put someone else's video even sometimes not not so much someone else's Daniel's put on his story and actual reals of Daniel struggling at the moment Daniel's needs needs some help Daniel needs this and people see that you're that emotional person and you're the one that speaks your mind and gives your story out and that's probably where that lady's connected with you she's going through the same stuff yeah yeah so and people relate correct so when you when you when you talk about it you don't understand how much impact you have on and how far it travels that's right 100% And I think that's there that's a good way of social media podcast and like that correct yeah that's the good side of it yeah you know but there's a there is a there's a [ __ ] side of social media too but I can't wait man oh I'll be like I told you so told you so that's why I'm boxing man just just wait just wait but yeah like that's why I'm boxing so I can bash him but it is it's it's with all like it's a reflection of what we're going through yeah so is that's a big piece when you think about it like on the back of a caravan Caravan AR small no which would be good cuz they'll have the my artwork on the back and Ed their um their logo they got their own business do they or their own page that they're doing to travel around yeah own page so on social media so it be on there so just yeah when it comes up I'll give a follow and share it yeah um I'll share it around too that'd be cool yeah but she she said I wasn't going to go with anyone else just because because of that connection connection yeah good man yeah man it's it's crazy hey like and they only an hour away yeah when you think about it and the recent Workshop oh not recent yeah the one I did in Tam yeah so I did a weeks down there with like Town worth kids youth kids y um and the feedback I got from that was incredible too but I didn't really think I did a good job but I did yeah like that's when you usually do do a good job when you don't think you have yeah cuz you always hard on yourself and critic and stuff like that yeah um but the one kid was was like oh you've opened my mind up so I'm starting painting again I saw this yeah and another one was ah he's been asked to do three paintings for this company yeah you know it wouldn't happen if it wasn't for your Workshop that was the ones you put on your story pretty cool it sort of like one was a young girl too was it yeah what that first one was a young girl she's I think she was 17 yeah yeah how good but the other crazy yeah yeah it's it's very humbling and sort of like Proud To Go creating or leaving Footprints in someone else's yeah it's all part of it he it's that's it it's just creating you might yeah you might do I'm just throwing a number around here but you might do six or 12 workshops and you might not get that connection or that that feedback that you got and then you do that seventh or that 14th one and that's when you get that feedback and that's what makes it all wor makes it all worth it yeah yeah you don't it's not validation you Val but it's sort of like yeah this is really this is what I do for yeah yeah so good man you know so yeah no it's cool I really like it I really enjoy it um but it's sort of it's hard when you go into like mentally it's yeah at the moment like I'm at a good head space because I know that everything's going to come yeah you know and everything outside that like I don't let anything affect me anymore yeah how good I don't you're a lucky man yeah it's not lucky you you've worked on it yourself so You' yeah I wouldn't so I attract that uh lucky man you're you're a good man because you've worked on that yourself to make sure that it doesn't affect you no no [ __ ] affects me every not every day but yeah I'm the biggest overthinker in the world so I yeah because you lay there at night don't you yeah man it's a punish Amy goes to bed at 6:00 every night or 5:30 yeah W and and but she's up at 3:25 3:45 every morning then straight to the gym and I'm still awake at 11:00 12:00 at night and then she gets out of bed at 3:45 and some sometimes I hear her get out of bed and yeah some other mornings I don't but it's just like man I just can't sit still like you you know what's been going on with all this [ __ ] here and it's just being an absolute punish and then I'm like well if I ask this question then what happens if it goes this way and then it's just like [ __ ] me just stop [ __ ] thinking about it yeah so once I'm glad that we're here now and we've this we haven't it we're still it but it's just like I've I've got through the first one I pressed record and we're here as long as it [Laughter] works the red lights on it's on so that's all it matters they're the worst of oh we're working it's still working so we're actually on are we as long as that red lights's on and that camera is recording we're sweet yeah Daniel's praying to God for people that aren't watch it far um do you have any workshops booked in like have you got any planned or uh not as much No I um sort of had a sort of like a workshop meeting with goco city council yesterday oh nice just connections yeah and just putting myself out there that's cool um you know who would be I'm sorry I'll cut you off there you know who would good would be good I'll try and talk properly would be good to have that connection with too and I think you know him but um busha Bungie Gabrielle is name is he does a lot of like dances and stuff like so he does a lot of dances around the Gold Coast Area because he's from here but he also does like he goes away with you probably seen just recently goes away with all the xrl players and stuff so as I'm a people pleased person I might have a talk to him for you see cuz I do follow him yeah yeah I do follow him if you could even just go to one of those trips away with him yeah do some artwork and stuff with them yeah bit of bit of stuff bit of stuff yeah it's it's man I can only ask yeah that's right you can only ask he you can don't ask you won't get that's right connections too man that's how got all these footy players in here cuz I asked them yeah it's all connections man like it's crazy I asked you to come into the shop back in the day when I first met you yeah if I didn't ask you you wouldn't be here I wouldn't be here no no I shoot my shot every time right it's a journey bro it's a journey hey you just have to you need that connection he like you need it needs to be a good connection you [ __ ] oh yeah no you you'll soon find out if it isn't or isn't you would be here wouldn't be yeah you know you wouldn't though hey you you you probably first time and that's it done so that that meeting with gold curs cancel was that oh that was just sort of letting them know what like a 10 year plan with the arts and culture and arts in that's you know it's sort of like where where we moving to yeah um your manager went with you no yourself just me were supposed to come but I heard I'll go with you next time bro it was just it was just sort of just that would have been cool to see voice yeah and saying like I spoke up about we need actual big Cultural Center where we all come to paint mhm and have like a big um like even Art Museum or something like you know how can has indigenous art I do yeah why can't we have one down here yeah like have it at the convention center yeah have heaps of artists and have heaps of Attraction from overseas yeah that'd be so cool man cuz that's where like if we want go Coast to be like not just like you know metat yeah like our culture why can't we show our culture me that's good good example that's what go Coast is M Ms beaches and stuff but there's more than that yeah so true man so so true you know so and that's what we spoke about yesterday it's more about culture tourism yeah but yeah well that's what stri that go Gold Coast strives on is tourism at the end of the day and if you can I I totally believe that look how many [ __ ] highrises are here but like if you don't have tourism tourism will bring people going to places like like you said the museums and Y those and that's how you get the local art definitely definitely like I've been to a fair few places like when you go somewhere and go to an art museum and stuff it's just cool to see the local talents like I wanted to do it when we went to Sydney just recently with Amy but Amy wasn't too Keen cuz Art's her whole life she wanted she just wants to escape she want to get away from yeah yeah yeah I I can I can agree with that yeah but I like seeing people's so do I artwork yeah but not just artwork like different artwork yeah like that's art yeah you know and yeah uh painting drawing or yeah just anything that you're gifted that's art you know that's why I like being here man watching the girls do their art like it's yeah yeah the [ __ ] that comes out of his off its head but I'm pretty biased too that one's my girlfriend yeah and the other one's one of my employees so yeah well I've I've got a few you've got a few on you from Amy as well still still going to get some more yeah it's just the time man the money [ __ ] T yeah yeah it's sort of it's very similar to um or painting yeah it's sort of similar except um I know the word you're looking for here it's a um it's not a necessity it's like a um sort of like a luxury a luxury that's the way we're both looking for then yeah it's a it's a luxury yeah artwork is good too cuz it's [ __ ] like if it's on your skin or if it's on yeah on the walls you can always look at it you go by a cart and a piss it runs out pretty quick doesn't it and you don't see it again no it's it's the the long longivity is yeah longevity longevity yeah yep that's what I say yeah longevity it's sort of but it brings meaning too does certainly does meaning and story and with meaning and story it brings an emotion to it so yeah so true speaking about tattoos and you don't have to talk about this if you don't want to yeah um you got smashed with one of yours oh yeah David got a little Yeah well yeah cuz you can I don't know if you want to talk about it that's I can talk about it CU it's so for people that don't know I'll let Daniel talk about it but Daniel has a uh I don't know who the bloke is yeah David G he was in his you know his first ever um video a film yeah was Walkabout yeah right I didn't even know that yeah okay I just got it on him yeah cuz I I see him as a warrior in a spirit of course you know yeah and that's exactly what he looks like yeah 100% And then so I got it done and then the put it on your social media yeah day later wow man I C so much backlash and even some people like you need to your arm off chop your arm off [ __ ] off yeah they said that's disrespectful you chop your arm off head there you put him then he's not family he's not this I got in contact with his niece yeah and I actually said like this is what I got on him he goes he would have been honored yeah there you go that's from a family member [ __ ] off everyone else yeah he would have been honored and and that that was it from then then I just didn't worry about put it behind you it's G yeah so I'm about to get uh an elder my family Elder on my chest and she's uh one of the biggest um and she's one of the biggest female indigenous artists SLP poets oh wow that's ever been in Australia she was also um also a politician so indigenous politician her name's Catherine Walker yeah wow so she's uh from new knuckle tribe which is for people that don't know and I haven't yeah from North stra and that's my tribe yeah so to have her and she's obviously family tattooed on my chest haven't got validation from anyone because I don't need it she's my family family yeah but I guarantee you there's this white fell with a portrait of Katherine Walker on his chest he's gonna get smashed yeah yeah and I'll happily take it all on and bring it on yeah yeah yeah yeah but people just need to relax at the end of the day it's you know the truth correct and that's all that matters yeah and it's like it's a different story for yours but yours is your story of Walkabout that's right so it makes complete sense I didn't even know his first movie was walkout until I looked him up and it's actually good quality too that's actually like I was meant to get that yeah you are you know like that's that's and um so good everything else chop your arm off bread [ __ ] chop it chop it off in the Paralympics chop it off or remed I was like it actually would have hurt less if you just cut your arm off cuz T removals off its head man apparently it hurts more than the tattoo but it also costs three times the man to get your you know how expensive are yeah cuz you got to get back [ __ ] loads of times yeah yeah imagine that yeah no drop it off no but crazy man yeah it's the world we live in though man yeah that's it but I think if if you don't take anything to heart and you know your truth yeah and what you're there for and what you're here for yeah but the thing is most people don't know what they're here for either you know yeah so they just keep walking around and then they go oh this guy said something this girl said something so that's must be who I am yeah which or what I do but it's not very far from the truth [ __ ] know to from the truth I'm like I can actually stand here and like people say something I don't get affected by it because I know that that's not not who I am yeah yeah yeah yeah you know people are quick to judge oh they are they are yeah and it's it's funny cuz I I used to like growing up used to be one of them I used to be one of them but now sort of like I understand who I am yeah yeah great but still understanding even more yeah because the stuff that I did stuff that i' um been through yeah it's just all part of it to get te where I am right now yeah y so up here yep straight up I thought you were doing the hammer celebration then no that's his I'm taking that off him he's quick that fell e yeah he's quick he be quickest black fellow you reckon you're going around at the moment yeah I reckon I reckon made made fox look like he was standing still oh he's been injured though and yeah but still you can yeah he was quick got him pretty quick easily too he only put in the last 15 20 me I reckon Jason Sab and this is this could be completely wrong but this is what's your thoughts on the 100 meter dash that they are trying to get out the NRL green final who do you reckon would win that completely off topic he'll come close to it Sab yeah yeah he'll come close to it cuz he's so tall yeah and the strides personally I think he would win Hammer's quick as [ __ ] but he's quick late yeah it's destroyed huh yeah bro who there's there's a couple others too like that follow from Titans that Kon or uh Pera yeah ay KH perea the Winger I think I think I think talking to him or there's another fullback like a young oh the little um the little tiny fullback uh talking about uh K Kenny yeah he's quick he's quick he's tiny bro yeah but long strides I think they'll get him yeah they they say um KO weeks I think his name is from the uh TI H not the Titans the Raiders the fullback the Young play fullback now yeah they say he's um he is quicker than uh most people apparently that um Roger F that fell does the Sprint training with all the players he said that KO weeks is the quickest in the NRL wow but then you got that um Cola that plays for uh for the seagull yeah he's quicker he was quicker at school than Jason sub was so you got all these people bro and you got the fox and you got like other people that we haven't even stated now yeah should be interesting it'd be good though yeah bro it' be the best it's like um AFL do it don't they yeah yeah yeah it'd be cool to see but then you [ __ ] too if you got if you're playing yeah you're not you're not doing the 100 meter race there's no way in the world you're doing the 100 meters defin definitely not who's your NRL team oh the Titans they are yeah yeah W I didn't know that yeah go with Titans who's your favorite Titans player other than old mate that you'd said before uh in the current team current team I like um um current team foreign men F fos is a goat just just CUA how tough is he never stops man never stops how good's a uh ball playing um half like a actual running ball playing yeah one of the strongest men to play that play that position yeah 300 games last week yeah I know that's M that's huge mine's J see I love that kid oh yeah that kid's phenomenal man I re he hasn't even hit his prime yet n he'll be better than Dad I reckon he hasn't even hit his prime yet no and a humble bat too he's just yeah like you and I man he's probably more humble than us to be fair and he's playing in a what's that tell he just brought a house really yeah he moved out from H Preston's he was living with Mom and Dad he just moved yeah yeah got a Miss down in Sydney she's uh she lives down there I said when she moving up man yeah I uh I had a question about your workshops before if people would like to book in a workshop yep how would they go about it probably email y first actually go onto my website Y which is Walkabout warriors.com yep and you'll see what I actually do yeah that's probably best to check it out Che it out and then see if you Vibe with it yeah and there should be a for there's a form on there yeah and email it'll go straight to me and then or if you can go and check my Facebook page yep or Instagram Instagram page walk about Warriors and just have a look um there's heaps of stuff on there Yeahs yeah heaps of artwork heaps of um work shs mentoring but it's just it's all come from the back of what I went through yeah and giving back yeah how good the main thing so the uh I love that one that you did just recently at the school that was like [ __ ] half the building humongous colors that was that was close by too wasn't ashore as as Ashmore state school yeah um that was that was pretty big it's probably the longest yeah probably the longest one I've ever did like days wise yeah cuz the second part of it I had to get up and down on the ladder that was [ __ ] a nightmare he was growing those cury legs oh man my cars were like [ __ ] you actually had some car my cars were double the size man now they're going back to normal and like yeah cuz I had to go and I couldn't just do it like in sections I had it make it all flow then come back and then put things in dots all the way along yeah it was huge man it was big too like large scale too it was yeah it was pretty massive I think it was like close to nearly four 40 m long to wow yeah 40 m long it's like that one at the doctor's surgery he did too that was humongous that was 20 M by 2.4 but big work man but it was good cuz it's all part of it yeah it just unfolds as it's supposed to yeah so do you have a plan with those before you go so they don't know what they i i i they give me a little bit what they want and I put it in then everything else sort of just unfolds as it's supposed to so good man I love that yeah I love it so so good like and to see the large scale of stuff that you're doing as well like and for you to just do it the way you do it like there's no going back no no no that's right it's all it's all a nothing like it's sort of but with the digital stuff you can go back and retract it and take things away with painting no chance it's nothing you got to go byy another tub and go over it oh you started now you just got to work with it and it is like that's I think that's my gift cuz I just work with start it and I just work with what I you know definitely gift yeah is there anything you want to ask me not many people ask this question I feel oh yeah true how long may do how long have you had this this shop like this like podcast in mind uh probably when we first moved to the Gold Coast so I've been following heaps of boys and I won't name all of them because I I follow a lot of them but I feel like I've been able to talk quite well not probably punctually like the correct wording but I feel like I I can talk well and I can listen well yeah and I feel like listening is a big thing in podcasting and I feel I've been able to do this for ages it was just having the opportunity the space yeah the last shop as you saw definitely wasn't the space for it yeah yeah um I also enjoy my gaming So like um like playing PlayStation and stuff as well and I want to set up like a gaming area as well so I thought this will be perfect so I don't know if you can see it but there's a TV in behind your painting there on the wall yeah so I'm going to set set this in to like uh the TV wall mounted on the wall over there so then I can live stream gaming as well oh wow so I wanted to do that at the last shop and was about to do it but then we just didn't have the the the we had the space we didn't really have the time but now when I was here I was like babe one of these rooms needs to be a podcast Studio yeah yeah and she's like yeah yeah you can do it I'll help you she painted pretty much I started painting it and it was rubbish and Amy said she'd never seen someone paint as [ __ ] or that uh that version of paint painting I'm not an artistic person at all so she just I went away and went to work and come back and she' painted the whole room but this is your gift what you don't now yeah yeah so it's just me to me to talk yeah yeah but um yeah so I've had the vision for probably 12 to 18 months I reckon Y and then just having the time the money like and this opportunity and the opportunity yeah so so pretty lucky now that I've got the space I've got the time yeah and the opportunity was here so i' just put it all together put it all together and then just making it all Aline but it's all happening now bro it's all happening now there's no going back now I'll uh I want to have like weekly episodes not just with people like I've got like this is I've got like 18 or 19 people that are interested in I've got three this week that I'm doing W you're the first obviously um but I want to drop something every week or every two weeks with a person yeah but then on that week in between so that fortnite I want to do like a weekly podcast of just whatever it is so yeah um I want to talk about sport I want to talk about gaming I want to talk about horse racing cuz I love that I love to talk about talk about surfing like talk about my boxing just [ __ ] that I enjoy talking about I don't need someone here I can just sit in front of their camera yeah talk rubbish yeah and people want to listen to that people yeah they'll listen but people will get more out of listening to these stories yeah yeah and that's the main reason while I'm here yeah um getting people's stories and an opportunity is the main reason why the main reason H it's opportuni to speak yeah and every person I've asked so far has said yes not one of them's knocked me back so that's I think having the trust in me is trust but it's the gift that you're giving to others yeah you know because you're you're letting them come on and tell their story yeah yeah definitely which is healing in themselves yeah but also Al opening up to others people to tell their story definitely just need a fan in here man it's [ __ ] hot it's going to get hot summer I just get a airon in here might have to monetize this no it'll be right I think it's just cuz I [ __ ] was flat out before I got here running my body just hasn't had time to regulate like you're were talking about before we should have done some breath work before we start regul we should have [Laughter] do you do that before you go surfing or I do I do it while I'm out there as well yeah that time yeah and I um before I surf I probably take about 5 to 10 minutes before I go in the water I just sit there or stand there obviously with no shoes on cuz you're about to Surf but just connect yeah and then from there I do a bit of breath work sometimes it's to psych yourself up just because it's [ __ ] freezing cold out there you just like need to warm yourself up yeah yeah yeah but other times it's just but once you I don't know if you surf or not or if you can surf but me I can surf but haven't done it for a while man need we need to get back out there because it's and I personally haven't done it for a while just because I've been focusing on everything else but oh there's nothing better in my mind yeah and I'm a Country Boy from Co mining country yeah and you just forget about anything that's happening in your life yeah wow just get out there literally you're not thinking about sharks you're not thinking about how I'm going to pay the bills you're not thinking about um the argument you had with you made it work or you're literally thinking about that next Wave Y or [ __ ] from paddling heaps you're not thinking about anything else it's and even if you don't catch a WAV man it's literally just like you do not think about anything else it's just that subtraction from the world in a way that's what happens when I do that yeah okay yeah if when I'm in the zone like nothing matters yeah well I just sort of like just flow and then when I'm flowing then that's when I really do my best yeah unless you have me in remember I was going I was sort of going through stuff yeah yeah yeah and I've sort of sort of come out I'm coming out the other side of it and sort of realizing that everything Everything Is Not What It Seems yeah correct you know it's not this little thing is not this big thing as you're making it out to be yeah yeah because everything that we think and feel yeah is not true no it's so true you know you just like I said to you uh I think it was either last night or the night before yeah as long as you can pay the bills man [ __ ] all that matters because if you don't can't pay the bills then yeah this here this here just goes 100 mile hour yeah makes those problems that you just saying that we this big even 16 times bigger yeah and then your whole head so if you can afford to live yeah and you don't need the best things in the world you don't [ __ ] people survive off rice and tuna yeah yeah I think yeah the materialistic stuff I'm not really you've seen what we're like we're the same bro we don't have any flash [ __ ] no it's yeah and I'd rather love life and have all these materialistic things and be miserable as long as you can provide for your kids yeah if you have kids yeah you can provide for yourself your kids come first if you have kids that's this is my personal opinion kids come first your partner and then yourself a lot of people would say yourself comes first yeah then your kids then your partner but that's the the order I put them in yeah yeah I always put myself last cuz I'm a people pleaser I know that's I was going to say that I was going to say that but if you're not not 100% you can't do it for you can't you can't give 100% to everyone else correct yeah so I think I'm always running at 80 yeah I I that's that's my thing now is I need to give myself a 100 yeah before I give everyone else a 100 yeah like you're still going to give no matter what yeah but it's better off giving a 100 cuz you're 100 yeah you know I feel like I give everyone else a 100 and then try and try and give myself 100 I'm probably giving myself 20 at the end one one one um video I seen was like your cup has got to be overflowing yeah it does to fill others up to fill others up don't fill everyone else up and leave yours empty yeah hole in the bottom of yours that's it big go big that's what you got better than big stinky o big dirty o yeah well I witnessed that when I was actually fire out oh for people that don't know I don't give a [ __ ] I'll tell you anyway I fart a lot like a shitload and poor Daniel we actually did we have the roof on when you were doing it no lucky we didn't no so we didn't have the um sound proofing uh ceiling in here but I was dropping my guts a fair bit and there's still four walls holding it in I haven't dropped one in here yet so [Laughter] Daniel's praying again yeah a lot of people know that are fart now so there you go there you go everyone does it let's be honest everyone some say they don't but they do oh people say they don't [ __ ] please if you don't [ __ ] you die that's exactly true that's a fact though yeah it is the fact H um I have five questions here all right the guess questions but is there anything else you want to talk about before we ask these five talk about before we ask these five questions and these five questions I've made up myself that no one else has helped me with these five questions are a bit out there bit weird bit different but these questions are going to get asked every guest so you're the first to get these questions awesome but is there anything else you want to talk about before we ask GE I think promotion anything whatever you want to talk about mate oh I just I think I've just plugged myself before walk about Warriors yeah jump on and um Instagram Instagram walk about Warriors y uh Facebook and you want to jump on my website is www. walkabout warriors.com and Y just see what I do and everything you see is authentic it is it's comes from a good loving place and it's the story yeah and um I think every everyone has a story and I think I paint everyone's story on canvases Y and I think that's I I love doing you know so is canvas your preferred canvas mural you don't as long as I'm painting Nothing Else Matters yeah that's fair yeah how good so let's go you ready let's go all right first question do you have a party trick and if you do can you show me so party trick can be anything I'll I'll tell you my party trick yeah what is this is mine so a lot of people can do this but it's mine as well so it's just I hit my the side of my um make a water sound make a water sound just like wow holy crap so just literally like flick my my cheek and it makes this noise this sounds like a dripping T that actually sounds real it does he I don't think I got a party Treck nothing don't have a party trick at all I honestly don't I thought I can dance but I but anyone can drink when they drun it's a perception of others isn't it it is it is I can say I can dance yeah can you show me some moves don't have enough room I [ __ ] break break dance new ray gun the OIC next well I'm not even gonna go there uh I reckon I know the answer to this one the next question is who's the most person most famous person in your mobile phone H probably princy yeah I thought it would be good blow okay and curen Joshy yeah yeah nice nice uh what's one thing you can't live without one that's pretty D can't live without well there's obviously one thing your breath [ __ ] I didn't look at it like that that's great your breath you can't live without your breath you can't but the thing is I think it's a wide variety it's wide but I think one thing that comes to mind is love for yourself y you gotta love yourself yeah otherwise yeah yeah yeah nice that's nice yeah that we want to help people um having you as part of my podcast yeah and having you on my wall for everyone to see yeah means a lot to me and I mean that from yeah [ __ ] the bottom of my heart y um
