this offseason the Lions agreed to contract extensions with three of their best players on offense and they revamp the defense particularly in the secondary and they've done everything needed to get this roster level up to a Super Bowl this might be one of the best rosters in the entire league now I don't see bust I see Super Bowl I don't know what the bust is second team in NFL history last year to have at least four players scored 10 or more touchdowns David mtgy Jamal Gibbs Amar ra St Brown of course Sam leap pora you know you guys I'm just going to go ahead and jump straight into the Detroit Lions at this point because this team man as we all know now just put together a great off season and they also have had a pretty great preseason with all things considered and it's really made me confident in what this team is going to be able to accomplish in the regular season I think the offense has a chance to be even better than they were last year and I think the defense has a chance to be even better than they were last year as well and if that happens obviously this team is going to have a shot to go extremely deep in the playoffs once again with a great chance to win it get closer and closer to the NFL season okay so to get right back on topic with the Detroit Lions this team of course had a great season last year where they made it to the NFC championship and almost found themselves in the playoffs which blew over all expectations that anyone had for them and as crazy as it might be to say I think they have a chance to go even farther with the current roster they have because it just looks like they have talent all over the field and every sing single important position I think we got to start on the offensive side of the ball because this is where they're the most explosive and it's probably where they're going to have the most success even though I think their defense is going to be good as well and one of the main reasons for that is them still having that guy Ben Johnson as their offensive coordinator because everyone knows now that he's one of the smartest offensive Minds that we've ever seen so to still have this guy on staff is a huge Advantage he helps out Jared g a ton and he makes this offense run extremely smoothly against any defense that the Lions play against and when you have that to go along with all the talent that the Lions have there's just not much you're going to be able to do to slow this offense down the quarterback on this team of course is Jared G and even though some people hate on this guy I think he is plenty good enough to get this team to where they want to go and I think he's going to prove that to a lot of people in the regular season he's a game manager is type quarterback but he's one of the best in the game at doing that and because of that he doesn't throw many interceptions but he does put up really good numbers and that's all you really can ask for your quarterback to do especially when you have a lot of talent around it you don't always need your quarterback to be making crazy play after crazy play sometimes you just want him to be able to operate the offense and get the ball out on time to his Playmakers and that's exactly what Jared G is going to do for you last season he put up over 4500 yards with 30 touchdowns to just 12 interceptions and I fully expect him to replicate that same success once again if not have even better numbers which is going to allow this offense's passing attack to be really really scary now even though Jared G is really good he's not the only reason why this passing attack is going to be good though it's also due to the lions having absolutely insane insan skilled players all over the field which puts so much stress on a defense because you can't guard all of them at the same time the first guy you got to talk about here of course is that guy Aman raw St Brown and he is going to be the number one Target on this team once again simply because he is just so good at what he does and Ben Johnson knows how to use him in a perfect way he's an absolutely insane route Runner while also being extremely good after the catch so not only does he get wide open for Jared G to throw him the ball but he also makes the first and usually the second guy after he gets the Miss which is something that every football team desperately wants and that's what the Lions have he's only going to be going into his third season and at just 24 years old he's probably only going to continue to get better and that's pretty crazy to say considering he put up over 1,500 receiving yards last year with 10 touchdowns but I really do think it's a possibility that he puts up even better numbers than that and gives himself a chance to win offensive player of the year so you have one of the best receiver ones in football to throw the ball to and then to go along with him you're still going to have that guy Jameson Williams who I know hasn't done a crazy amount and is two years in the league but I really do think we're finally going to see this guy break out this year we really have seen him get better and better as he's played more and more snaps so as the regular season gets closer and as this guy gets to play in actual games I expect the Lions to start targeting him more and more and I expect him to start putting more and more pressure on defenses with the speed that he brings to the table and if he does that he's going to put up great production to go along with a Monro St Brown he's one of those guys that can be used in a lot of various ways and that's another thing every offense wants especially as your receiver number two now as your receiver number three you're of course going to have that guy khif Raymond who's another deep threat speed guy that you can use in a lot of different ways which gives the Lions a lot of receivers that are super versatile and what they can do and that's why Ben Johnson is able to be so creative and what he runs with this offense he can always keep the defense off guard and he can always keep them guessing and then when you add to that that you also have one of the best young tight ends in football right now in Sam lorta it just makes everything that much harder lorta even though he's only played one season has already made himself known as a top five tight end in the NFL and I expect him just like all these other young guys to only get better as he plays more and more and that means that this offensive passing attack as a whole should only get better which is pretty scary to say the least you have the weapons and you also have a crazy good offensive line which is going to give Jared go time to throw the football which is going to make the passing attack that much better and then to just add the cherry on top you also are going to have one of the best Run games in the entire NFL just like you did last year because you still have that guy David Montgomery and jir Gibbs in the backfield David Montgomery of course is going to be your power back back and he's going to be the guy you lean on in those short yardage situations and then jir Gibbs is going to be your explosive back that I think is going to see way more carries this year because of how explosive he is and that's another thing that allows this offense to be so versatile which is why they were so hard to stop last year and it's why I think they're going to be even harder to stop this year I think we're going to see a lot of motion used and a lot of play action used to cause a lot of confusion for opposing defenses and if Ben Johnson does that like I know he's going to I don't see any reason why they're not a top five scoring unit once again which is going to put them in a great position to not only win their division but to also go deep in the playoffs but even though the offense is going to be extremely good you also got to have a great defense to go along with that and uh with everything the Lions added this off season I think they're going to be really good here as well the defensive line is pretty self-explanatory you have that guy Aiden Hutchinson who automatically is going to make you have a really good pass rush and then to go along with him you added that guy Marcus Davenport this off season who is one of the most underrated defensive tackles in football you have that guy DJ reer who is getting healthy and you still have that guy James Houston who is starting to show flashes once again in this preseason so maybe he could add even more to this pass rush to really make them a unit you got to be worried about and man I'm just going to tell you right now if the lions are able to get after the passer everything else on this defense is going to be able to follow suit the linebacker room obviously consists of guys like Alex anzelone the young guy Jack Campbell who I think is going to get better going into his second year Derek Barnes and Malcolm Rodriguez who I think is a pretty solid player as well which should allow you to have a great overall front seven that should be able to slow down the Run game too and if you can slow down the run and you can get after the passer that that's what's going to make this secondary be able to eat and with everything the Lions added to the secondary this off season to make sure they weren't the weakest link on this team again I think we're going to see big dividends and that of course starts with the drafting of that guy terion Arnold this guy of course was drafted in the first round and he is going to start week one for this team and I think he's going to play really good for him right off the bat I honestly wouldn't even be surprised if he was the best corner on this team pretty quick because of how talented he is and then to go along with him you of course have the guy Carlton Davis who has proven himself already to be pretty good you also added aiek Robertson who I think is going to be really good for you as well especially in that nickel spot and you also drafted inis R straw Jr who I think has shown us a ton of flashes in the preseason so far which has made me really confident in him as well which just gives you a ton of guys in this cornerback room that can play which should allow you to lock down most receiver rooms now I'm not saying they're going to be perfect especially since some of these guys are young but I do think they're going to be better than they were last year and that alone is going to make this defense a lot better now as far as the safety position goes this position group is going to be really good as well because you still have Kirby Joseph who's a really good player you still have Brian Branch who's coming off an outstanding rookie season where he proved himself to be in my opinion one of the better safeties in football and you're still going to have that guy melu fanu who's only going to be going into his third season and he played really good football for you last year as well which means you not only have a deep Corner Room but you also have a deep safety room which just makes up an overall really good secondary so saying that if the secondary is going to be really good you got to remember that you also have a great front seven which means like I said multiple times now the defense as a whole is going to be a really hard unit to score the football against and if you pair that with an offense that's putting up 28 to 30 points a game you're going to have a really really tough time beating this Lions team and that's why I'm so confident in them going really far in the playoffs again with a great shot at going all the way and even winning the entire thing
