um but I I was wondering if you could perhaps explain to people that might not understand how losing our freedom of speech which our current president signed off on um would greatly impact how we can protest and help to stop the genocide great those are fabulous questions um so first on um uh on why third parties you know are are kind of kept out of the media you know so we have this Consolidated corporate media right now that's mostly lap dogs to power they they're supposed to be Watchdogs to power but they're lap dogs to power and more often they're concerned with uh doing the big interview you know with um landing something that's good for their careers as opposed to you know serving the cause of free speech um you know and being a uh a watchdog um so unfortunately you know the traditions of Journalism have been horribly uh corporatized and we have our schools of Journalism now which are all about career advancement you've kind of lost you know you've sort of lost the thread uh among lots of journalists that are you know who are working for mainstream media it's really a shame um and so they're not inclined to cover third parties they don't want to ruffle the feathers of the big the big players that they want to uh earn their interest interviews with so that's part of the problem uh I think a lot of the related to that is that you have these two very powerful political parties that are sponsored by the economic Elites and they do not want competition and all the rules of the road are about silencing competition they are very afraid because everyday people are really struggling to survive right now and really want other choices so they're very frightened that people should hear you know our campaign since 2016 the last time I ran we have been very uh shadowbanned on social media they don't want people knowing about us and you know I regard that as kind of a badge of honor that they're so threatened but they are very threatened by um by independent politics that actually speaks to the things that people are screaming for most people want Healthcare a human right most people want to get rid of student debt and make public higher education free and you know the vast majority of people want to end the genocide in Gaza which is why they're coming down with an absolute Hammer now to silence um you know to silence Alternatives so I think that's the answer to your first question the power structure does not want like ferociously they really want to silence political opposition the great Democratic party that talks about what a friend is it is to democracy is very busy throwing its competitors like myself off the ballot they proudly announced that they have hired an army of lawyers in order to nitpick our petitions and throw people off like because their address changed or something not related you know to the substance of getting a candidate on the ballot they've created these outrageous requirements in New York state we had to collect 45,000 signatures in six weeks it's like in it's absolutely impossible and none of the Grassroots candidates made it we came very close 42,000 all the others including the Libertarians they got 4,000 we got 42,000 which tells you how on fire people are to shut down this genocide which is you know kind of a major issue for us so this is basically what the Democrats are doing they're silencing their opposition um where do we stand we saw a bunch of reports out of North Carolina this week that have been sent to me over and over again that everybody who signed petitions for you for Kennedy um are now being people are knocking on their doors asking them to sign new forms saying they were withdrawing their signatures and people are asking how their addresses got to these people wow showing up with clipboards asking them to sign a revocation of their signatures from the petitions okay this is the first that we've heard of that if you can pass on to me because we're going to court all over over the place the Democrats announced back in March that they were hiring an army of lawyers to try to throw us off in the 2022 election in North Carolina they did the same thing to our uh Senate candidate who was a peace candidate and the Democrats called they they called people who who had signed the petition because the petitions they can Foy the petition so they can get them and then they call them and they were pretending to be the green party they were pretending to be the green party telling signers to please take their name off the petition because the party decided they didn't want to run a candidate anymore or something like that nonsense and they happen to call the head of the party they called the head of the green party and told him that the green party wanted him to take his name off the belt so he recorded the phone call and took it to court and we were able to get him fined on that but this is like they should be in jail for that I mean talk about interfering with our elections you know they want to point to some like ludicrous tweets uh from the Russian internet uh research agency tweets that had nothing to do with the election and they want to say that was interference this is election interference you know how how can that not be fraud that sends people to jail so anyway I'm very interested to hear that they're doing this they told us you know they're also advertising for infiltrators they're publicly advertising for infiltrators so this is what you get you know this is where we this is that war on Democracy this is that Rising fascism that we don't have to wait for Donald Trump about you know this is authoritarianism plain and simple throwing opposition candidates off the ballot this is an assault on all of us and not just on alternative candidates but on voters who want alternative choices this is how the Democrats shut them down it's absolutely outrageous and thank you you so much Tiffany for the heads up about this I will get that sent your way yeah thank you damn all right I'm gonna I'm gonna come so I don't have clean Segways because we really are all over the board right now um Amy I'm gonna come just to you uh and then I'm gonna cruise to my right over here so Amy um what would you like to ask Dr Stein to thanks so much for being here Dr Stein I know we all so appreciate it um I'm a former attorney and um four years ago my husband's former employer Amazon accused him of a crime he was never charged with a crime but we had to deal with a doj investigation for four years and our assets were seized for 22 months and we had to hire lawyers to fight to get them back oh man and for me it was this experience of corporate capture going far beyond anything I'd ever imagined in America and my question is pretty basic though given the state of the citizens united the power of oligarchs and the major companies across all Industries in America how do we even begin to fight their power over everything and what would you do as president to do that yeah right I mean this is a real problem you can look at also what happened to Steven donziger you know the attorney who defended uh the um the indigenous people in Ecuador you know like like just this was motherhood and apple pie you know defending their water supply they're really sick they're dying from cancer we had same Law Firm the same Law Firm represented Chevron against doninger who and and and the Democrats are just like okay with it they're just okay with it it's just I think it's just another example of what a state of emergency we're in our democracy is absolutely on life support this corporate capture is in every dimension of our government and you know it's Congress it's the white house um you know it is um our Regulatory Agencies all of them and it's the uh Judiciary and this is why you know the uh Declaration of Independence says that all just power uh derives from consent of the Govern our system has become so corrupted that nobody has confidence we no longer consent you know which is why Society is so incredibly fragmented right now we've lost our glue we've totally lost our glue because we've kind of been corporatized and we've been corrupted by the infiltration of money and you know I think how we approach this is one step at a time we do what we can do um you know and we move on that first so let me just say on day one of our Administration we um we initiate an antitrust uh lawsuit against the corporatized media so at least we can begin you know and that's something that the presidency can control we can begin to free up media so that we actually have honest reporting which is really important for mobilizing people you have to mobilize people in order to you know fix these problems people need to be informed about what the problem is and how it can be fixed you know we don't have a functioning uh press right now so it's very hard for us to ever Jin up you know the momentum that we need to solve this stuff one of the big problems in the Judiciary you know has been basically the influx of money coming in through these uh so-called nonprofits that uh have been promoting these really corrupt uh judges these very corporate you know serving uh judges which are promoted not only by the Republicans they're also promoted by the Democrats and we've seen Schumer you know line up to move through these judicial appointments that are awful and you know I think um it's you know what do we do with the judges the corrupt judges who are already appointed I'm not sure but in part having a media that will actually talk about this and hold their feet to the fire is really important and also to begin challenging money in politics in my home state one of the things that I had you know did early in my kind of political activism uh you know experience I became part of a coalition that was working to pass campaign Finance reform and get big money out of Politics the so-called clean elections law which we passed by vote a referendum because the legislature won't touch it with a 10 foot poll they don't want to threaten their big donors um so we created a system of public financing which doesn't get rid of the corrupt we need to do that also but at least if you have the option for public financing you create you know you have a fighting chance and you can begin to get other candidates elected who don't have to go through the same kind of corporate filter in order to get to office and and raise the money that they need and so on so um you know we can begin to move public financing which the public reports in enormous numbers and this is one of our priorities in our democracy agenda to move forward public financing um and you know and to expose at the same time those who are supporting the corruption of our judicial system so that we can interrupt this flow of corporate appointments to the Judiciary that's not going to solve the whole thing but that at least gets us going together with you know the role of the press in pointing this stuff out because these stories are so outrageous and they infuriate people people identify with this sense of being you know victimized by big corporate government um and I want to just quickly point to what happened under Richard Nixon who was one of the most conservative presidents ever and we had a very conservative Supreme Court but we the public were so mobilized at that time we were able to push through that Court um you know uh Wade and we are able to achieve uh legalization of abortion for the first time even through a conservative Court when you're mobilized you know I mean at the end of the day like Alice Walker said it really is Having the courage of our convictions and and standing up and when we do that there's all kinds of stuff we can achieve but there are lots of roadblocks right now
