Ali Jennings - College Football Alumni Spotlight

[Music] growing up when made me want to play football really just being from a big football family my brother played I used to watch him growing up coming to his high school games and then watching his friends that went on to play division one and going to the NFL and just always being outside having fun with my friends it was just always the thing to do we were trying to play in the street s pit play any where we could play so it kind of grew on me but yeah that's that's that was the reason why I played what I enjoyed most about playing football would be just being around your friends every day just having fun with each other going out there and building those relationships and bonds with people from all across the world and meeting new people learning different cultures and things like that and just the locker room man it's nothing better than being in the locker room with 100 of some of your favorite people and just laughing jok and having fun and knowing you're about to go out there and compete with each other did I learn anything about myself or football playing with the US national football team I would say for myself I learned that I was better than uh what I thought I realized that I can compete with guys all over the country because most my entire life I stayed in Virginia played in Virginia didn't really travel didn't really go outside of where I was from so doing that I learned that it's it's good guys everywhere and I was I had the ability to compete with them and play at a high level with those guys and football man it was just just learning the X and O's uh I realized that even though I was with my high school team at the time we still had to learn plays with them so really learning X's and O's and being able to learn new plays in a short amount of time and be able to go out and execute them coming into a new environment not really knowing anyone and being able to just be in a different different environment from what you're used to what you're comfortable in and being able to learn how to focus on the goal at hand By ignoring the distractions around you and learning your plays in a short amount of time learning your your teammates and your coaches and knowing how to go out and execute and play at a high level I would just say it takes everything behind the scenes you can't just show up and expect to be the best you have to do everything it takes you have to go in do your workouts do what your coaches say stay on top of your grades and just go the extra mile like it'll never hurt you to do a little bit extra if you do a little bit extra every day you're going to get that much better than the next person who's not so if you're going the extra mile you'll be just fine why is it important for for the young people to play the game of football I would say this day and age people don't really have great communication skills and great relationship building skills and football teaches you all of those things they teach you how to communicate they teach you how to build relationships they teach you how to teamwork and this new age this new day and age people don't really develop those skills because their FA are always in screams so I feel like that's very important and that's a key aspect that people don't see from com from [Music] B
