well good evening good evening keep pounding Nation what's going on welcome to another Carolina Panthers Talk video brought to you by Blitz ball champ gaming here on the U to the two I am your host Blitz ball champ Jason Ingram so for this video I want to talk about uh a couple of more uh additions to the Carolina a panther's roster and the first depth chart as they get ready to go into their first preseason game has been released so GNA take a look at this first wave depth chart for the Carolina Panthers as well should be interesting but anyway let's let's take a look at some of these recent additions to the team so starting off we're going to look at defensive back formerly of Coastal Carolina Clayton Isbell and just the FYI to make room for him they have waved recently acquired uh tight end um Curtis Hodges he was wave SL injured but Clayton isbel 24 years old 62 220 pounds like I said played at Co coo Carolina um uh looking at his looking at his numbers I mean he didn't do much from 2019 to 2021 uh with Illinois I believe that's Illinois State yeah Illinois State red birds um did a little bit of something something at Utah in 2022 um 16 total tackles 11 solo five assists but he did his most with Co Carolina in 2023 89 total tackles 49 solo 40 assisted five passes deflected one sack and three interceptions um and his overall college career has eight interceptions including one uh one pick six so I mean hey he's done he's done a little bit of something something he's done a little little something something uh but yeah he'll be getting a look at uh safety cuz um looking a little thin at safety especially after Sam Franklin was injured and also waved so um hopefully hopefully he pans out he can do a little something something with the Panthers uh let's see they've also added a defensive back Anthony Brown in order to make room for him they wave defensive back Keandre Thomas Anthony Brown uh who is a veteran who is a veteran um 30 years old 5' 11 in 196 PBS uh played at Purdue um he's played with the Cowboys Steelers Niners Jets and now Panthers um his career so far 324 tackles four sacks five forc fumbles a fumble recovery nine interceptions 59 Pass deflections and two touchdowns he was a 2016 six round draft pick well I mean it looks like he got to play play a lot of his games with with Dallas and then afterwards was mainly practice squad so I mean well it looks like he's done a little something something especially during his time with the with the Dallas Cowboys spent Seven Seasons there so I mean I mean this this it's not bad it's not bad not bad although according to the Panther's article with this roster move it says he got 324 tackles four sacks and and 29 interceptions but I think that's a typo I think that's a typo yeah I think that's a typo let's see but yeah I mean Anthony Brown sounds like somebody that could potentially make an impact we shall see but veteran defensive bat so hey I'm all for it okay they've also uh added on to the tight end room as well uh with lingerin injuries to Ian Thomas and Tommy trle and uh Stefan Sullivan they've added Titans uh jaob Hollister and Jasper horad so let's take a look at um jper horstead 27 years old 63 237 PBS played at Princeton for college um he's played with the Chicago Bears and Las Vegas Raiders um not a whole lot of stats I mean total careers played in 41 games 14 catches 131 yards three touchdowns that's really all he's he's done so far um let's see how did he do in college at Princeton okay so he actually had a pretty good year at Princeton um 2018 72 catches 1,52 yards 13 touchdowns hey not a bad year at Princeton especially for a tight end huh well we'll see how he does probably get some action in the pre-season uh which we uh have the first preseason game against the New England Patriots which I believe is on the road um and then the other tight end uh Jacob Hollister um doesn't have his height weight or anything like that actually let me see if I can may maybe maybe Wiki okay here we go here we go Jacob Hollister uh 30 years old 64 245 lbs uh like I said play it w roing um let's see it's played with the Patriots Seahawks bills Jaguars Raiders Vikings back to the Raiders back to the Seahawks back to the Raiders and now with us so he's bounced around a little bit um on practice squads um looks like his best season was was with the Seattle Seahawks uh 2019 okay 41 catches 349 yards three touchdowns and then in 2020 uh 25 catches 209 yards three touchdowns okay didn't really do much with New England didn't really do much with Jacksonville so interesting really really interesting but uh let's see how did he do in college I'm very curious see how he did in college H three years at Wyoming best year was definitely his last year 2016 32 catches 55 yards seven touchdowns so h but like I said they want to um fill up the tight end room a little bit uh due to the lingering uh injury issues but Jon Sanders has been showing up and showing out in Camp and I heard Jordan Matthews was doing a little something something as well so you know better better safe than sorry better safe than sorry and then they also brought back a a familiar face at quarterback that's right they brought back Jake Lutton Jake lton hold on let me get a let me get a swig of this Jake Lutton 66 224 pounds 28 years old played out of Oregon State and he was he was drafted he was a sixr draft pick in 2020 by uh Jacksonville um with Jacksonville he was 60 of 110 uh 54.5 completion percentage uh 624 yards two touchdowns six interceptions got sacked seven times so H looking back at uh his time in college uh played at Idaho's first year and then finished off with uh Oregon State and of course his best year was um 2019 senior year uh 222 of 358 a 62 completion percentage 2 714 yards 28 touchdowns three interceptions so had a heck of a of a college career especially once he went to Oregon State but um getting another quarterback was necessary being that they had the injury to um pardon me the uh quad injury to uh backup Andy Dalton so I can understand that and they also um they also already had uh Jack plumber as well so right now it's Bryce young Jake Lutton Jack plumber so not really any uh ideal big name quarterbacks right now backing up Bryce young so it'll it remind it remains to be seen whether they work out another veteran I know there were rumors about them possibly looking at working out Ryan Ryan tanah Hill but we'll see um not too sure how long Andy Dalton will be out but we'll just have to see if these other quarterbacks can step up got to be able to step up and back back up Bryce which you know I don't expect Bryce to have a whole lot of pre-season reps but we shall see we shall see okay first look at the first release of the Carolina Panthers depth chart for this upcoming season as they get ready for their first preseason game so let's take a look let's take a look let's start with the offense see what we got here okay so we're going to start down here from the bottom so of course starting with the quarterbacks uh as of now Bryce Young's your starter of course uh Andy Dalton backup uh Jake Jack plumber with that third spot third string and Jake Lutton at that fourth string so that is the current order for the quarterbacks uh nothing surprising there nothing surprising there at all all right looking at the running backs uh number one chuba hubber number two miles Sanders number three Raheem blackshare number four Mike Boone and then five and six are Jaden Sheran and Dylan Johnson and of course mean Jonathan Brooks uh I believe is still on the um the pup list so not surprised that he's not on this list he won't be playing in the preseason anyways and word is that he most likely won't be ready to to get out there and go until about week three or week four of the regular season so I'm sure he will get moved up into this list by the time it gets to week one or week two but not surprised that Jonathan Brooks isn't listed here it's understandable but not surprised that chuba hubber still your number one at running back um but miles Sanders word it is he's been having a good good camp so I expect miles Sanders to to get uh some love as well uh in the running back rotation um and Raheem Black Shear which he's come out of the back field before so I feel like those first three are you know a decent first three that I think you can work with and once Jonathan Brooks is good and ready to go I see him being utilized as well okay let's look at the wide receiver positions uh starting at the top uh number one Deontay Johnson number two Terrace Marshall Jr number three Mike stretchen um we got to see a little bit of Mike stret straighten um last year just a little bit just a little bit um de Deontay Johnson has been having a great Camp so not surprised to see him uh as number one uh terce bar J um I know he had a pretty bad Collision in a recent practice so hopefully he'll be okay but uh word is this could be where Terrace Marshall Jr might have one last opportunity to see if he can bounce back and be effective in this offense we shall see um the next here we got uh which might be the slot may or may not be the slot they don't have it labeled but Adam Thelen at the number one Amir Smith marett at the two David Moore at the three Devin Tomkins at the four um Emir Smith marett it'll be interesting to see how he does you know getting involved in the offense I know we'll definitely see him on special teams as well um and then lastly uh the other wide receiver spot Jonathan Mingo at one Xavier Legette at two Jaylen Coker at three now I know Legette has been you know it's been kind of off and on and also dealing with um I believe a hamstring if I remember correctly um Jonathan Mingo where it is he's been having a great Camp he's been having a really great Camp so hopefully we'll get to see a a quite a resurgence of Jonathan Mingo for this season but hopefully you know with Mingo Thelen and Deontay Johnson I think you can work with that but hopefully Legette will be good to go same thing with terce Marshall Jr there's been a lot of of good things said about Jaylen Coker so we'll see if he finally if he gets an opportunity to show that we shall see all right for tit end uh right now the first two are Tommy treble Ian Thomas which is understandable uh and then the twos are jaavan Sanders and Jordan Matthews the threes are Filipe Franks Jacob Hollister with uh one side having a fourth being Jasper horad and I believe Stefan Sullivan is on the the uh injured reserve if I remember correctly but been hearing a lot of great things about jvon Sanders and he's been having a great Camp so don't be surprised if jvon Sanders gets elevated into a higher role with the tight end Squad um Jordan Matthews which he's a veteran as well but I expect to see a a good amount of usage of T chavon Sanders he's he's been doing really great so even if you know tremble or Thomas goes down it sounds like jvon Sanders can can fill can fill that spot um but hopefully trumple and Ian Thomas will be good to go but they like I said they've been adding on to the wide receivers and the tight ends uh lately so we'll have to see what the other looks can do especially with the Jacob Hollister and Jesper stead Filipe Franks the Filipe Franks one will be interesting we're talking about somebody that was a former quarterback so see how that goes all right looking at the offensive line of course uh starting with right tackle I mean Taylor moton at the number one at the number two badara tror um there's going to be a lot of eyes on Taylor moton have to see if he can really bounce back um you know Taylor Bon at one point used to be very reliable but he's he's kind of gone downhill little by little over the last couple of Seasons so you know he's still got that starting right tackle spot but for how long remains to be seen so we'll see we'll see how it goes we'll see how it goes but definitely there's going to be a lot of eyes on Taylor bowton to hopefully get back to the level that he once was all right for the right guard position uh Robert hunt at the number one not surprised there number two Brady Christensen number three JD derenzo now word is that Brady Christensen has kind of been rotating in a couple of different spots on the o line so you know Brady Christi is looking like a very versatile backup that you can plug into any spot just about so that'll be useful but you know Robert hunt you know we brought him on we paid him good money so hopefully uh he does well all right at the center position uh leading off you got Austin Corbett then number two Cade Mays number three Brady Christensen number four Andrew uh Ram uh Austin corbette moved back uh in the All Season to the center position so he's been working that uh where it is so far so good but you know Kade May who has been able to play center as well uh will be his backup so I think you could work with that but Austin corbette moving from guard back to Center which he has played center before so it's not unfamiliar territory for Austin corbette same thing with Cade Maye all right that left guard spot leading off is a newly acquired Damen Lewis we got him in the off season backing him up Chandler Savala and third Nash Jensen so Chandler Zavala starting off of that backup to uh Damen Lewis um we'll see how that goes hopefully Damen Lewis could stay healthy um I think he's been dealing with a I want to say a forearm issue uh somebody correct me if I'm wrong but um and you know Zavala has had some starting experience you know it wasn't great but you know that's that's where he he's at and then that left tackle spot of course leading off is iy IIM ianu backing him up will be Ricky Lee and third string Jeremiah Crawford now this is another spot a lot of eyes on iy he struggled in his second year had a pretty decent rookie season but he struggled in his second year so here's hoping that he can bounce back and do better for this season it's it's going to be it's going to be very very necessary I I feel like the the tackles are going to be a the key pieces that really need to be on point to really help this o line be special this season we're we're going to need it so Taylor Bon and iky aanu they need to re really show up and show out those are two spots that I'm going to really be keeping my eyes on with this offensive line but yeah that is your uh offense death chart now let's take a look at the defense all right um starting off at the defensive end positions um the two first you got Derek Brown and asan Robinson and then backing them up will be TJ Smith lebrian Ray and then Jaden crumedy and Junior AO from the the number threes um not surprised I mean Derek Brown leading off I mean he's our one of our best pieces on that dline so definitely he going to be number one um hey Sean Robinson uh hopefully he can really get some get some pressure going but uh they're going to be right right on the line um defensive tackle so right in the middle of that nose spot starting off Shai Tuttle backing him up as Nick Thurman and that third spot ulumu um ali uh Shai Tuttle uh not surprised there he was in that middle spot last year uh leading off at nose tackle so hopefully shy Tuttle can can really get going and um Nick Thurman who played on this team last year uh in rotation so we need to really get some good pressure need to get some good pressure on that dline that was one of the things that we were lacking we did pretty well in stopping the run more so than we did in the past rush so we got to really get that going this year that's going to be very key to the success of the defense now looking at the uh the linebacker spot um at those uh outside linebacker spots we got uh starting off uh jadeon cloudy and DJ Johnson DJ Johnson insert as a starter so that's that's a pretty big deal for him uh then backing them up are uh clavon cha Chason and EKU Leota uh Kenny Dyson and Lui V vilon and cam Gil Derek McLendon that's your uh depth chart for the outside linebackers um clayon Chason I think has potential to really be a great rotational piece and I believe uh they're also working out and potentially bringing back uh Maris Haynes as well so something to keep an eye out and I think he'll be a big help if that remains if that ends up being true but jvon cloudy he's been having a great Camp he's been wreaking havoc on that on that line so I think jvon Clowney will really be a big threat on the defense all right then the other two linebacker spots mostly in the middle inside uh number one's a sha Thompson and Josie juel backing them up will be Claud and Caris and Trevon Wallace Chand Chandler Wooten and Tay Davis and Michael and Jackson Mitchell um I've been hearing some good things about Trevon Wallace in Camp so hopefully Trevon Wallace will really turn out to be a great piece for this team you know maybe get him the rotation um Chandler Wooton who has some experience uh same with Tay Davis so maybe they'll get bumped up in the depth chart but but um hopefully Shaq Thompson can really have a stronger season this time around he's dealt with some injury issues over the last uh season or two so hopefully Shaq can come back and really really do some damage this season all right the cornerback spot so leading off JC horn and Dane Jackson um the backups are Lamar Jackson and deca bo bootle uh desan Jameson Willie Drew and newly signed Anthony Brown uh not surprised there um I would have thought Deshawn Jameson would have moved up to the uh number two but to see how this Lamar Jackson does um JC horn a lot of eyes on him see if he can get through the season because when he's healthy he's great but he's got to stay healthy he's got to stay healthy um Dane Jackson I know you C came from I believe uh Buffalo so hopefully he pans out pretty well but um this still would have been nice if they had gotten another big name cornerback like a Stefon Gilmore but yeah and then looking at that nickel cornerback spot you got uh leading off Troy Hill uh followed by uh Charles Smith Wade one of our draft picks and Jamie Robinson at the third spot um not surprised Troy Hill did pretty well for us last season so him being at that nickel spot not surprised but I hope Charles Smith Wade can really show up and show out and same thing with Jamie Robinson I mean this is his second year so have to see if he can do anything maybe you know this pre-season all right and then the safety positions um starting off you got Xavier Woods Jordan Fuller which makes sense and backing them up are Nick Scott Alex Cook deani Richardson Clayton Isbell Sam Franklin Jr but like I said he's he's hurt broken foot and so forth and I thought the word was that he got waved but he's he's still on this he's still on this death chart so may maybe he didn't get waved I thought he did honestly thought he did but um Xavier Woods Jordan Fuller not surprised with them at the two safety positions um yeah don't really have much to say about about those but but yeah but yeah that's the defense and then finishing off with special teams uh kickoff returns uh kick returner uh leading off Raheem blackshire second emir Smith marett then Devin Tomkins then David Moore uh makes sense I mean Raheem blackshare Amir Smith marett I expect them to be the main two but um Raheem blackshare he's he's got a lot of potential on um kickoff returns you know especially with the experience there so yeah not surprised uh punt return uh leading off will be Amir Smith marett then Raheem blackshare then Devin Tomkins and David more Amir Smith Mar said as the main punt returner not surprised there he did return one last season against the Bears uh for a touchdown so yeah not surprised there um and the rest yeah Long Snapper JJ Janson the forever Panther uh punter Johnny Hecker kicker leading off Eddie Panero and uh backing him up as Harrison Mavis I know Eddie panero's been dealing with some lingering issues so might end up uh Harrison uh Mavis might get an increased roll if uh Eddie Panero is not able to go but we shall see we shall see and that is uh special teams so yeah uh that's the released depth chart the initial depth chart as they get ready for their pre-season game their upcoming preseason game against the New England Patriots which uh that will be on August 8th so definitely plan on checking that out uh that is uh this Thursday that is this Thursday so really looking forward to seeing how our folks look out there so should be good but for the most part that depth chart I'd say it's I'd say for the most part it's pretty spoton I'd say it's pretty spot on but uh I'm pretty sure that's going to change quite a bit by the end of uh preseason and once they announce the 53 man roster which I'll be very eager to go over that once that becomes official but that will be all for this video um don't forget to check out game Beauty and let me know what y'all thoughts are on the recent pickups for the Carolina Panthers and what do you
