in the ninth come back to win three times in the same season so the Marlins are record Breakers crazy to say that in a year of so much pain the Marlins are breaking records and they're fun they're a fun group now feel like the fan base is re-energized we're going to talk about that today all of the action from yesterday's game uh Griffin conine just doing it all everyone just chipping in stunning Marlins come all the way back and put up they put up five in the last inning is that correct um I may have may have got that wrong it was five right yeah it was five runs they put up they were four down they put up five culminated in a a three-run bomb from Jesu Sanchez love to see that Jesus Sanchez continues we spoke about him earlier in the week me and Shan Barrett I asked him said Sean is you know is Jesus Sanchez real is it legit like where does he rank you know generally in Major League Baseball and I think what's what's transpired is jesel Sanchez is like tight 30th in outfielders for home runs this season so Jesus Sanchez fun guy he's legit guys he's legit I'd love to see him play a little bit more against um against left-handed pitching as well and just try and refine that aspect of his game but man oh man overall when you look at the overall game yesterday there's a lot of storylines going on here with the Marlins right now and but when you look at everything 98 they come all the way back they put put up a five spot at the ninth 12 hits 13 hits for the Rockies they started hot we had some concerns potential concerns over rodri MOS and lo and behold the first two first two hitters go deep um Charlie Blackman I mean that is one of the sweetest connections of a baseball I've ever seen Charlie Blackman absolutely destroys one it goes that far the cameraman um completely loses track of it the ball like hits the the faser in the third deck or whatever it might be it was an Absol absolute blast and then Ezekiel Tova then cranks one as well by the way he shouldn't have had that opportunity Auto Lopez dropped an absolute sitter it was in foul territory granted but it was an absolute sitter he came in casual as you like as he should be he's one of the best second basemen in the league and somehow complete blunder to not record the out it should have been an out and then Tova he made uh he made both Lopez and Rod Munos pay for that one so the Marlins they got off to probably the expected start I mean Rod has been given up like a an alltime Pace in terms of home runs um it's just been insane and so you know a lot of people were concerned what we going to see from R Munos and you know we kind of saw what we saw in the end is day finished one and one third gave up seven hits six run all of them earned a walk no case three bombs Ro three Munos uh did Tovar take him deep twice uh I think he did didn't he right so Tova he did Tova went two bombs against uh rodri Muno so oh man man oh man you know rod from the Marin perspective they just they have to persevere with with Rod and you know it was just one of them days it was always a risk in cause and yeah the risk was certainly realized no doubt about it three bombs from Rod no case disappointing day for him um it's fair to say that then you know we had you've got some other stories going on here generally as well in terms of the actual you know the bullpen Bermudez ends up making his Marlin's debut he ends up going three and two3 gave up six hits two earn runs three KS including one bomb um so Bermudez you know almost going four Innings I mean from what we've seen from other from some of the other legit starters over the you know the course of 2024 but like Bermudez his numbers kind of Stack Up um you know going four Innings of two-run ball pretty much 3ks okay the home run in there but yeah some of the work on there Balman comes in two innings of shut out ball for B love to see that Sano gets the win and then Calvin fosche an inning of work all three k for fosche he's absolutely slotted into that closer rle no doubt I mean you know was closer by you know default in some ways just who's left in the pen oh Calvin fosche is still here okay great you're the closer now but he stood up no doubt about it and looks who knows what the future holds with any of the pen pieces um Etc but you know kind of long term here for fosche like from a Marlin's perspective you expect fosche to go into next season in from a bullpen perspective working relative High leverage whether it's a closer roll whether it's the seventh the eighth whatever it might be I don't know the Bullpen is going to need a massive overhaul this offseason like there's no doubt about it the Marlins have obviously sold a lot of their you know leverage Talent they can piece things together in you know six Innings and long mans and etc etc but there's no getting away from the fact that when the Marlins were good the bullpen was the strength and Peter bck is gonna have a lot of work to do to try and piece it together but if there's one thing that the Rays and Peter Bendix know it's piecing together the bullpens out of nowhere and so even though I don't know the names that will be in there I don't know the roles they will assume none of that what I'm confident in is that by opening day or soon after because there'll be waiver claims going everywhere but some point in relative early part of the season the bullpen will start to look pretty good I'm pretty confident of that like that's just the Hallmark of the Rays the Hallmark of Peter Bendix and it has to be it has to be generally but you know we'll see what the bullpen becomes overall though this was all about the offense like you know we could talk about the penal we wanton we could talk about runo's getting blasted but we're going to talk about the offense guys they put up nine runs in cuse of course but a major comeback win um and frankly the marins offense in general since really you know Conor no's been up just generally I would say you know the second half of this season it's just been so much more watchable I don't know why but there's something just so demoralizing about watching old veterans struggle like watching Tim Anderson struggle Nick Gordon struggle AEL Garcia struggling like it's so demoralizing as a fan to watch these overpaid dudes not producing a fan base and I can speak this is my own experience let me know what you think but you know you can get behind the young guys you give them more slack you give them more leverage you you're have happy to see them grow whereas when you pay vets and they come in and underperform you know it's it it it kind of sucks the life out of a little bit and the fans you know it kind of snowballs it does and so the offense right now is is so young so inexperienced so cheap let's not forget that it's super cheap but up and down all everywhere we look there's a storyline everywhere we look there's someone that's trying to make their way that's someone that's trying to prove that they can make it there's someone that is trying to get better and secure role for the future I mean look we look at yesterday's game the lineup con Orie playing at third um you know he's brand new in his career Jake Berg has been one of the hottest hitters in baseball since kind of July Jesus Sanchez unbelievable game Ops now up to 724 by the way Jonah Bri was you know the opportunity is open for him Otto Lopez Kyle Stowers who's we're going to talk about sty stars as well after the break who's definitely improving Vidal Brew hanana two hit day for him yesterday including an RBI Griffin conine doing his thing in right field literally doing his thing in right field a big segment coming up on conine shortly like up and down this lineup like Conan you're rooting for Stowers you're rooting for Otto Lopez Jonah bride Jesus Sanchez Jake Burger con everywhere up and down up and down there's people that you root for you can't help but root for these guys guys earlier in the season there was underperforming guys and it it turns the fan base turns on you quickly it's not about you know you start to then just see the negatives with these young with this young group who is you know having fun piecing it together you know they've got the the Italian swag maybe I don't know the the origin for those like watching the show like what's the origin of of the uh the hand signals that are going on right now for for the Marin but you know these guys they they they got it going they've got some momentum building the problem is the problem is in this campaign particularly is there you know the the rotation is all on the iil and so the pitching is decimated the bullpen is being traded away and so whilst the offense has been better we're looking around going I mean there's seven arms away at this point but those seven arms are on the IL that's the encouraging thing here and that's the encouraging thing for all Marlins fans at this point you've got a young group that you root for for and you know that you've got a a rotation that's like could come back we'll see what happens in the offseason and you've got a bullpen that requires some maintenance really this is a very interesting situation for the mar it's very very interesting situation and from a fan base perspective the fan base to me the sense I get on on X which is the only way I can judge this is fan base is energized they're feeling energized they're buying into these guys and that's a really really great spot to be in in a campaign that has been terrible by wins and losses it's been terrible but as we've come out of the deadline and you've come out into this you've now got a young group and Craig Mish spoke about this months and months and months ago saying that it's going to be tough you're going to realize the season's cooked they're going to move on from some bets young guys are going to get some shots and you're going to start to feel energized by those young and that's exactly the spot we're in right now exactly the spot also you have to be delighted by the fact that and this is great for Bendix the fact that Conor or's up he's hit every game Conor or's just hitting which is great to see you've now got kyl Stowers starting to find it first home run for the Marlins yesterday opposite field Blast for him KL Stow finally finding his Groove which is great to see and you know again from Bend bendix's perspective the fan base are looking around going we're going to judge this guy on his trades because when you trade Away Big League talent for younger guys at various levels you know there's pressure on there was there was I guess a degree of pressure created by the Aras deal particularly because of the timing and the return and the way things have played out with Dylan head in particular but we'll see what head's got in the future but there's pressure on and so for for there to be what on the face of it appears it would already felt like a dub but norbi and Stowers looked like you know they can be part of something here and Trevor Rogers you know we were all watching the games with Trevor Rogers this year whatever his numbers said it didn't really matter again you you look and watch the games with Trevor and it was pretty clear like this guy isn't the same guy from before so to move Trevor to get Norby and Stowers it feels like a master stroke it really does you know there's there's other guys that knocking on the door too we're going to see them real soon let's H the first ad segment then I want to talk about it's taken all this time I tip my cap to every single one of you that is still watching the Marlins even though the season has been putrid it really has but we're now in the forward-looking phase of the campaign and this is is fun this is the fun phase the dead money's gone the the washed up vets are gone some of the guys have been traded they're gone some of them were good some of them were not so good nevertheless they're gone we're now into the phase of looking firmly at the future and everyone is going to get a look no doubt we've got the rosters expanding real soon too very interested to see who uh benefits from that situation considering the 40 Man options right now and considering yeah considering where we're at in the catching position in particular Augustine Ramirez I think could be on his way up to the Marlins uh as soon as this weekend we'll wait and see if that's the direction they go he's on the 40 Man the Marlins continue to struggle a catcher he doesn't have to catch every day he can catch a little bit and he can DH some it makes total sense to me nevertheless let's talk about someone who is already up and it is Griffin conine he obviously had his debut plate appearance struck out check swing unfortunately that's that's it's the most frustrating way to go check swing nevertheless he then bounces back starts his first game in right field did speak about this with Shan earlier I was interested to see whether he could go um whether they go with an all Lefty power stick combo in the Outfield and they did kyl stoward uh shifting over to Center we then get Jesus Sanchez shifting over to left field and then Griffin conine taking it over in right field but for Griffin conine on the day uh three at bats including one walk so four plate appearances two hits uh two runs also score an outfield assist with an absolute laser from right field um he almost he almost almost had the first home run of his career he spoke after the game to say it felt like it could go but he knew he didn't quite nail it was slightly out in front of it um didn't quite go but got the top of the wall the funny thing is and I did see a stat I can't remember who shared this someone on X one of the Yankees fans if I recall correctly but they were sharing Griffin conines three at bats three batted balls actually from yesterday's uh yesterday's game and they there was three all three of them back balls were home runs in multiple Parks he could have had a threeome run day if he wasn't playing in cause let that sink in normally you see cause as like the ultimate hitters Paradise but yesterday for Griff where he hit the ball uh and how hard and the and the distance traveled unfortunately uh they they didn't get out in course but in various ballparks he could have had a threeome run day yesterday absolutely insane from Griffin conine what a day for him and I'm excited I'm excited for the opportunity for Griffin conine this type of player is you know the fun players fun story it's the same really for stars it's the same really for Jesus Sanchez these guys that hit bombs hit balls hard play well in the outfields like they're fun to watch they're fun to root for and we see with Jesus Sanchez what a fun player he is to watch where from day to day you don't quite know what you're going to get there's going to be the odd putrid at bat there's going to be the odd strikeout that makes you you know drives you crazy but the thing is at this point for all of these guys there's zero pressure absolutely zero pressure so you go out there you take your you know you go you take your at bat and you see what happens but the fan base isn't going to be crazy if you're striking out even if the bases are jued in the ninth inning because the wins and losses don't really matter everyone right now is tracking player player projections player stats player performances they're not looking at the team they're not looking to see who's winning games how are the Marlins winning games yes it was fun yesterday but right now everyone is just simply and solely concerned looking at okay what's the body of work for Conor Nori what's the body of work for Griffin conine and could these guys be a piece as part of the future really interested to see whether Griffin conine is with the organization the rest of the way frankly in terms of that production why not why not you know let's see if it's something you know it's sustainable but I mean Griff was absolutely blasting balls yesterday and yes it's only the Rockies you're facing right and you know it's they're they're clearly a struggling team as well um but to be fair they were probably going up just about against their Ace yesterday TR like is he the ace for the Rockies I don't know but he's been one of the better starters so you know super encouraging start great to see Aram Leighton he's still there he's must be doing the whole series I guess in in cuse with um with the conine family great to see great to see obviously um Jeff conine um you know everyone the whole conine family friends everyone just going absolutely crazy amazing seeing arum Leighton just you know just seeing that that what end up being a triple but they thought it was going to get out and it was like oh man he's nailed one he's crushed that they're not quite getting out but then the suddenly Dawns like hey you can get three bases here you know pick it up Griff let's go let's go so great to see it's a family affair and you know generally like like I've already mentioned it's just the you know these young guys with young stories create the energy create the Buzz for the fan base that is has been much needed I think Griffin Conan remains with the Marlins the rest of the way there's no reason to send him back down he's he's done all he needs to do a triple A let's see what he can do at the big league level and let's see if he can rise to the occasion he's a worker a dedicated worker he's a you know he's a grinder there's going to be games where he performs is going to be games where he struggles that's the kind of profile we've seen with Griffin conine but like let's have a look let's have a look I mean you know everyone's rooting for him it feels perfect and I like that Outfield mix I really do against right-handed pitching like him sters and Jesus Sanchez like I'm any moment with them guys BS could with chaos in the ninth inning so 2023 I miss 23 I do it was a it was a glorious year glorious what a ride I enjoyed it so much 24 has been terrible at least up until the deadline I've kind of enjoyed post deadline Marlin I'm not going to lie they've got no arms the pitching is decimated but the offense is spunky and it's been fun it's been fun to watch this group let me know your thoughts I want to talk about finally just before we get out of here Kyle Stowers uh specifically like I mentioned in advance Rod Allen was you know giving it the full Gasolina hyping him up saying that he feels like he's close he feels like he's close and I think it's fair to say that that has rung true maybe since that walk that was like a a Marlin's career defining walk for Kyle Stowers I don't know but you know in in in recent obviously yesterday is his first home run for the Marlins but you know it it looks like it's coming together for him it does you know the first couple of games the first couple of at bats man it was wild it was so wild it was Jesus Sanchez wild in 2021 but it feels like he's starting to get in the groove and he's starting to time up balls and maybe there's a player here with sters and if there is it's a big win for the Marlins if they can get some degree of production out of him that's going to be a huge win so let's see I think it's fair to say I was early on the slander for stars I've pumped the brakes a touch he took time to settle in there's reasons why new organization you know unfamiliar surroundings a team that's terrible you know everything that's unsettling you know it's not often the ideal conditions Conor noi comes up St I think you're going to rake brother next thing is he's raking love to see it and I like I said love that love love him in center field love that mix in the Outfield and I love that Victory yesterday we don't talk a ton about Rod Munoz it was what it was yesterday um there is another game this evening of course for the Marlins against the Rockies uh they continue in their four game series Max Meyer is going for the Marlins this evening against Kyle Freeland the Lefty so gutfield is with the Lefty going you're going to you know see a completely different makeup in the Outfield very interested to see the lineup the Marlins go but Max Meyer is going this evening the following evening is going to be bente beoo uh who has um been very interesting in terms of his Fly ball out very interesting to see how he goes in course but as you have probably tracked along with this uh podcast the past few weeks I've been severely unimpressed with Max Meers performance as a starting pitcher his last outing in particular he did change the mixup talking about it there's no point Max meire just rocking out and just throwing 50% sliders over and over and over again there's no point there's going to be no development there we need to see him in this point of the campaign in this point of the year come away from the slider come away from it this is now about can you get some swing or miss on your fast ball and can you get that change up worked in they're the key bits for Max Meer at this point if you if if if all he becomes is a slider 50% at the time then it's not sustainable it's not sustainable as a big league starter and the Marlins need to see more from Max than that very interested in a tough environment clearly very interested to see who the Marlins uh get out there against the the Lefty uh maybe Griffin coine sits this one wait to see I mean everyone's been platoon there in in that Outfield typically they
