Buffalo Bills Release Deion Jones And Anthony Brown My Thoughts!!

yo what's going on guys it's Houston Sports Talk Back another video today and today the Buffalo Bills have made some roster Cuts after finishing their final preseason game which ended with a loss um even even though you know they they finished with the loss they finished one and two in the preseason 31 to 26 against the Carolina Panthers and as all teams have to do they have to cut the roster down from 90 to 53 and they started to do that got the r they cut the roster down today from 90 to 83 uh cutting a total of seven players so it's the start of it and there were a couple you know you know well-known you know guys named today that that got cut three three guys that um are popular popular names I mean you you most likely expected them to get cut but didn't expect them to get cut this early the first round of roster Cuts but um starting off with quarterback Anthony Brown now there's a lot of talent in this QB room it's not just Josh Allen the starting quarterback they have Mitch shabisky as the backup and then there's some talent and a little bit of a competition for that F you know that final you know Cube QB spot as the third quarterback on the roster between Shane Bell and also Ben denucci uh but there was another quarterback on the roster and that was Anthony Brown and Anthony Brown from the Baltimore Ravens showed showed some good things in their final preseason game showed some great accuracy through 11 for 12 with like a it was like 103 or maybe it was 100 five passing yards it was it was it was in the low hundreds um but threw 11 for 12 also ran for 13 rushing yard so did some good things in his first preseason game uh he did not BL in their first two preseason games I believe he was just signed before that game though um and you know this is also a guy who got to start one game for the r in 2022 u in a couple games where uh Lamar Jackson and Tyler Huntley were banged up and he played he played two games started in one so this was in the course of two games through 22 for 49 the 45 completion percentage which is terrible through 302 passs and two interceptions look I know he wasn't great but this is a rookie quarterback getting his first start is something that you should probably mention now um I don't know how many throws were the in the first game he played um I think I think about if I if I remember correctly he I think Tyler Huntley got hurt in the in the second quarter whenever you know we saw in the first time um and I think he threw like in the in the noname he started I think he threw like 20 throws or maybe it was like 15 I don't know but um you know he looked okay I mean he didn't look good um yes he threw two picks he threw 300 passing yards in about you know game and a half he played but um if it was he was a rookie stepping up uh in a situation I don't think he really expected to you know I don't think he was really thinking he was going to have to step up in that situation with Lamar and Tyler Huntley getting injured in 2022 um but he looked good in the preseason he's looked good in the preseason and his other chances with the Baltimore Ravens um so I don't think really anyone expected him to make the roster um but I think you could have thrown his name around the other guys like Ben denucci and Shane bsh with the way he looked in that final preseason game I mean I think when you have a guy like that and Anthony Brown play the way he did in this game um you wish you had the opportunity to potentially play him in the other game and see what he had you know in the two first games against the Chiefs and and the bears but didn't they didn't um which I don't think he was on the roster though um but the more you know the more popular roster cut that they made was releasing Dion Jones um onetime pro bowler we just spent some time with the Carolina Panthers he was second round pick in the 2016 NFL draft last year 13 games with three starts with the Panthers he had an interception six passes deflected one sack 35 tackles four tackles for loss 2022 was with Cleveland 11 games five starts um one interception which he returned for five yards two and a half sacks 44 tackles 2021 2020 and most of the years with the Atlanta Falcons he was a starter at linebacker which he's played linebacker his whole career with Atlanta six years 85 games played 83 83 starts his Pro Bowl season came in 2017 with 16 games 16 starts three interceptions returning for 42 yards um he had 10 passes deflect with one sack 138 tackles and 10 tackles for loss he also had a m sorry rookie season in 2016 with Atlanta 15 games 13 starts three interceptions which he returned for 165 yards and two touchdowns 11 passes deflected one force fumble U zero sacks 108 tackles with four tackles for loss and two QB hits and as a rookie he was voted um third third place in Defensive Rookie of the Year voting um maybe should have won Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2016 I I don't think so but um he was definitely a great candidate in 2016 um and then had some great years with Atlanta but ever since Atlanta the last two years with Cleveland and Carolina he's been okay but hasn't really been a starter so he has you know hasn't done much but honestly I didn't I don't I didn't I didn't did not think I did not think at all Buffalo would cut him I thought he would probably make the roster and if he did I definitely didn't think he'd be he'd be one of the last guys to make it uh and the bills must have something uh against Falcons players I'm not a Falcons fan that's just a joke though because they also released deir bird uh who spent time with the Atlanta Falcons last year as well 14 games with uh sorry he wore number 14 one game and he had two Targets and that was it um but in 2022 with Atlanta uh 14 Gams four starts 23 targets 13 receptions 268 receiving yards two touchdowns I want to go to 2020 cuz he had a really solid season with the New England Patriots in 2020 as a starting wide receiver for New England 16 games 14 starts 77 targets 47 47 re re receptions 604 receiving yards with one touchdown now deir bird played in one preseason game um for the Buffalo Bills and had one reception for 20 receiving yards now the Stacked wide receiver room even though there isn't a a real number one um so I I didn't think he was going to make the roster anyways now there were four other players that were released outside of the quarterback Anthony Brown the wide receiver deir bird and the proo linebacker Dion Jones there was offensive lineman Kevin Jarvis defensive end R Rondell both both Bood um Shane Simon linebacker and cornerback Chiron Brown um so yeah let your thoughts on the buff builds making seven roster Cuts releasing seven players let me
