Tims class of 97 and lifelong fan of Notre Dame football and this is Notre Dame postgame review you this week's matchup features the number five Notre Dame Fighting Irish against the Northern Illinois Huskies Notre Dame was predicted to win this game decisively however that came crashing down the Northern Illinois Huskies defeated number five Notre Dame 16-4 with a last quarter field goal that sealed their Victory the game leaders the Huskies quarterback pass for 198 yards with one touchdown reception Notre Dame quarterback Renard Riley Leonard passed for 163 yards with two interceptions and Notre Dame had one rushing touchdown and the Huskies had one passing touchdown Which basically ruined Notre Dame's chances for winning not Dame was highly highly projected to win this game and and that projection held throughout the game slightly uh decreasing as time went on and turning towards the favor of the Huskies until the very end of the last quarter where the huskys put it away and Leonard coming out finishing up with an 11 yd run after 13 plays on a 75 yard drive that took 6 minutes and 25 seconds that put Notre Dame ahead to score first at seven points the Huskies came back and answered with a five playay Drive for 98 yards capping with an 83 yard pass to antario Brown from Ethan Hampton that tied the game at 77 towards the end of the first quarter the Huskies took their lead for the first time with Kanan wood kicking a 42 yard field goal after five plays on the drive with 30 yards putting the Huskies on top 10 to7 in the second quarter Kenan woodo kicked another field goal 21 y after five plays and 51 yards putting the Huskies up 13-7 there were no more scores during the second quarter at 8 minutes and 34 seconds remaining in the third quarter Jeremiah had a 34 yd run for after six plays for a touchdown capping a 64 yard Drive putting Notre Dame on top for 13 to 14 where they stayed for the remainder of the game until 31 seconds left in the fourth quarter kenon Woodle kicked a 35 yd field goal capping an 11 play play drive for 31 yards which sealed the victory for the Huskies let's look at possessions first possession Notre Dame had a 13 playay drive for 75 yards ending in a touchdown put them ahead 7even to zero the next possession Huskies came back with five plays 9 eight yards put it ending with a touchdown Which tied the game the next play Notre Dame had three plays and had nine yards loss ended up punting and in the next next possession the Huskies had a five playay drive for 30 yards and ended with a field goal putting them ahead 10 to7 the next Drive Notre Dame had four plays with 12 yards ending in an interception and which the huskys took advantage of five plays for 51 yards ending in a field goal which put them up 13-7 increasing their lead the next play Notre Dame had six plays for 32 yards that ended in the punt and the huskys took over eight plays 30 yards and that possession ended in the punt and seven plays for Notre Dame 23 yards ending in a punt the Huskies had three plays for nine yards ending in a punt Notre Dame had nine plays for 31 yards that ended in a missed field goal and that brought us to halftime where the huskys took a halftime lead of 13-7 husky had first possession after the half and throw for eight yards 30 eight plays for 39 yards and missed a field goal Notre Dame answered with a six-play drive for 64 yards ending in a touchdown that put him ahead 14- 13 followed by a series of punts and downs and punts and punts and punts to where Notre Dame had a Fourplay drive for 24 yards that ended in an interception as they were driving towards the end zone the Huskies answered with a field goal with 30 seconds left to play Notre Dame came and attempted a field goal that was blocked for the loss and let's say during that final drive I was looking at my watch for my heart monitor and my heartbeat was up to 111 beats per minute all to no avail as Notre Dame ended this game and it was curtain's call Curtain Call for Notre Dame which puts us at one win one loss we didn't expect to have that loss just early in the season and I didn't expect to have it to Northern Illinois Huskies can we Salvage this season and end up with an 11- one season only time will tell Marcus Freeman has a lot to cut out ahead for for him so we'll see what happens as we continue on with this
