[Music] where is the offense in Norman Oklahoma that's what we're asking ourselves after Oklahoma wins a game 16 to 12 against a Houston team that quite frankly we all believe is not very good and I still don't think they're a very good team Oklahoma's offense just sucks guys that was the takeaway from yesterday offense for Oklahoma is not there and who would have thought in 2024 we would be saying that but when you look at the gaping holes from yesterday that's clearly what it is so we're going to talk about it today we're g to dive into it we're not going to sugarcoat it because what's the point you're frustrated I'm frustrated definitely didn't want to do this last night because I was tired so jump in the comments below give me your thoughts if you're new to the channel as always make sure you hit that like hit that subscribe button I want to hear from y'all and if you are listening to this on a podcast platform make sure you give this five star leave the review follow the channel we want to make sure that you guys are a part of the community but Oklahoma they won this football game 16 to 12 but Brent vinales talked about this yesterday in his postgame presser which was this was a game Oklahoma should have lost they deserved to lose this game when your head coach comes out there and says that that's got to be deflating but when you watch this game and I've went back and rewatched it because last night night when I got home I wanted to eat a sandwich because it was like 12:30 when I got home so I got home I made a sandwich I ate some chips fed the baby watched a little bit of the game watched a little bit more this morning and there were some good things from it but man there was so much bad and it was just a lot of frustrating things because I was saying it in the Discord last night and we were talking about just the offense not been able to get going and I said at what point do you look at how things are going here on this offense right now and knowing you need to get something going and we're told Nick Anderson is going to be back sooner rather than later and you can't put him out there just put him out there as a decoy same thing for Andre Anthony he played last week but I didn't see him at all last night but he was dressed up and so I watched last night and I asked myself why are these guys not playing are they injured or are they banged up because we're told that andrel Anthony is just getting into game shape right getting back into the swing of things he didn't play at all last night Nick Anderson were told he'll be back sooner rather than later well he might be more hurt than what we think he is because again Oklahoma's not going to be able to get anything done in the passing game with just Deber they're not it's as simple as that you've lost Jaden Gibson to a season in ending injury Jalil faroo is out six to eight weeks when he comes back it's not like he's going to be back in full form it's going to take him a little bit and so it's frustrating to me and it's frustrating to you to watch Jackson Arnold have to go out here and struggle because and I love our wide receiver room I love these wide receivers true freshman wide receivers like especially guys that came in in the summer like they're going to struggle and they're not running their complete routes Jackson Arnold's overthrowing them there's no chemistry there and it's clearly able to be seen when Jackson Arnold is not able to trust his wide receivers and unfortunately Houston played the game plan perfectly with Dion Burks last night they took away the Deep pass from Dion Burks they played wide on the outside and they let Deon Burks take more inside passes but every time he took an inside pass there were two or three guys there to tackle Deon Burks every time so there were no there were not there were not going to be any Yak yards I look at this and I know the offense can be better but at the same time I'm starting to believe this offense all season this is what it's going to be I watched the offensive line and where I thought we saw better things out of the offensive line this week like we saw Jackson Arnold be able to have more time in the pocket we saw the pass coverage be a little better you still look at this offensive line and go it's just not very good too many guys are banged up too many guys are hurt you're missing too many pieces there and it's frustrating because quite honestly I don't know if we're going to get any better on the offensive line this year Hickman when he comes back that it'll help but like Jake Taylor went out last night did you see that he played then went out with the injury again we can't keep guys healthy on that line I don't know what it is are we trying to play too physical are we just not giving guys enough time to rest and recover but at the same time if that's the case then I then we need to know that like we need to know Hey Jake Taylor he's really banged up he's probably going to be out four to six weeks just tell us that now I'm not saying that's what's going to happen but just tell us that instead of making it like a week by- week thing and then put him in there and he's probably not actually able to play but that shows you the confidence that they have in Spencer Brown because they play Jake Taylor at right tackle he gets hurt you see Michael tarwin play a little bit there you see Logan Howland play there which by the way Logan Howland played really well in pass protection not as well in run protection but again we really need get to see the offensive line blocking run schemes because for some reason we were told all offseason I was told all offseason Seth L tril it's probably going to be a 6040 split run versus pass 60% run 40% pass right he's going to run the ball heavy our running backs had 17 carries last night so who knows what how the Run blocking game is going to look like who knows but it was just an awful performance from the offense last night there's no way to trigger coat it and Oklahoma fans are frustrated because they are used they are you are used to seeing Oklahoma putting up 450 plus yards every single game shoot 400 yards we used to look at as a bad offensive performance for Oklahoma but this is where we live now we live in this era where people have complained for so many years you want Oklahoma to control time of possession you want Oklahoma to have a good defense well we're trying to control the time of possession with an offense that quite frankly just can't do it and look at where it's getting us you have a good defense though like it's literally like rolls reversed remember when you have a defense that couldn't stop anybody but you had an offense that could score on everybody well now you have a defense that can stop anybody but you have an offense that can't score on anybody it's l literally just a roll reversed something's got to change and something's got to figure out Joe John Finley Seth Latrell Bren Vines they've got to have a heart-to- heart this week they got to figure out the play calling they got to figure out their personnel issues you have running backs you are so deep in that running back room we didn't see Sam Franklin last night we didn't see Caleb Hicks you saw Gavin Sawchuk four times you saw Taylor Tatum one time why are our running backs not getting more run why are backs not getting more playing time especially when you're so hurt at wide receiver but I really think a lot of our offensive issues come down to this Jackson Arnold quite frankly does not trust these wide receivers he doesn't the only one he can trust is Deion brks and he can't get the ball Deon Burks you need Nick Anderson and Andre Anthony to come back you need two other Playmakers out there Nick Anderson gives you side on size Andre Anthony gives you another deep ball threat somebody everybody has to pay attention to if you do that I believe your passing game opens up a little bit more probably makes it a little bit easier then it makes it to where the younger guys well they're not focused on as much so maybe they get to develop a little bit more maybe when they get more run they can get open Jackson arold can find them a little bit more but here's going to be the problem with the pass game even when they come back Jackson Arnold's going to have this offense is going to have to be designed for Jackson Arnold to be able to get the ball out fast so you watched last night and you watched the ugly performance that Oklahoma put out there and we're going to keep calling it an ugly awful performance because that's what it was there's really not a lot of good to take out other than that the offensive line looked a bit a little bit better but even when they looked better they still made some boneheaded mistakes like I love and I I tweeted this out I love that Josh Bates went out there and fought for his quarterback but you can't make the dumb mistake of taking your helmet off and get a 15 yard penalty stopping the clock going to Fourth and 18 so now Houston's gonna get the ball back with 30 seconds left now granted they didn't have any timeouts but Oklahoma had that game at that point locked up it was because of undisciplined play Houston got another opportunity at it next week you have two lane coming into town offensively if you have Personnel that can play you have to play them you do not have the luxury of anymore of being experimental trying things out because after next week Tennessee comes to town and I've watched Tennessee the past couple of weeks they are going to kick our ass they are you cannot play the way you did today against Tennessee as good as the defense is the defense will get worse the longer they're out on the field they will get tired they will get worn down and they're going to look worse as that as as that happens and I guarantee you Tennesse ain't G to do this run the clock crap that we saw against with like Houston did they're going to throw bombs on you they're going to run the score up and this defense by the third fourth quarter will be gassed at that point you need an offense by that game and you need an offense that can go out there get you some points and can somewhat control the clock because if if they don't y'all thought the Texas game in 2022 was bad and here's the other thing for the fans that were in section 35 that thought they wanted to shout Michael Hawkins name like we needed to start the chant for Michael Hawkins you better understand what you're doing you really better understand what you're doing I think Michael Hawkins is going to be a great player at Oklahoma you better understand if you make that choice and you switch to Michael Hawkins you lose Jackson Arnold to the portal this off season and you better understand that you're stuck with Michael Hawkins at that point you don't have anybody else turn to so OE fans as well need to get their act together because booing on the first drive is no way to act you're not SEC ready if you're doing that we talk about being SEC ready all the time that's not SEC ready so I get it everybody's frustrated I'm frustrated as well there's there's I mean some bright spots you can take out of the game the Titans looked pretty good you like what you're seeing from the Titans uh we go down here Bowers sharp he had one reception five yards Jake Roberts hey he finally caught a touchdown in Oklahoma's end zone three yards or three receptions 51 yards one touchdown brenon Thompson had a score but I'm gon to be honest on Brennan Thompson's score that was primarily due to the defense because that first drive remember Oklahoma punted the ball it was due to just Houston I don't know what I don't know what the dude was doing it's like it was almost like he thought the ball was going out of bounds and he pulled back late and it just scraped him a little bit so it it ain't pretty guys it a what's going on in Norman it ain't pretty now you look at the defensive side of the ball and they did everything you wanted and ask them to do right now Danny stman he I I asked you guys last night I put a poll up you guys voted on it last night until the morning I asked you who was the MVP of the game against Houston I gave you a couple options Grayson Halton Danny stman Robert Spears Jennings or I told you other tell me who it is 56% of you guys said Danny stutsman who had 15 tackles 12 solos one tackle for loss um I mean nobody said Sami Oso who had five total tackles five of those were Solas and two of them were tackled for loss and Sami Oso even came and cleaned up a tackle that Danny studman missed you had Robert Spears Jennings who had five to Total tackles one tackle for loss and an interception or Grayson Halton who had two total tackles one sack and two tackles for loss and honestly put the game out of the reach with that safety so you look at the defense up and down the board 71 total tackles two sack seven tackles for loss I mean they played a very good game now they should have had another pick in there with Woody Washington at the beginning of the game which I definitely think would have changed the course of the game a little bit but you're playing Big 12 refs I mean the the officiating in this game was just bad it was and you thought oh we left the Big 12 we're over this no because anytime you play a big 12 team and they send Big 12 refs this is how it's going to be you have to play as clean as a game as possible because any little inkling that they can call and throw a flag on you they're going to do it this is just how it's going to be this is your life now the big 12's pissed off that you left their conference this is what they're going to do to you every single time and so you look at special teams Tyler Kelner missed 45 yard field goal which okay like 45 if if you can hit those 90% of the time I'll be happy but Luke elzinga he had what was it eight punts 352 yards he averaged 44 yards he had one Touchback he had five punts inside the 20 like Luke elzinga you could have said was probably the MVP of the game because he's the one that set up the defense multiple times to hold back that Houston offense that quite frankly is not that good so you you guys wanted a defense you got it because through two games they're only allowing 1.76 rush yards per carry 62 and a half rush yards one touchdown and seven and a half points allowed per game it's what you got but offensively Oklahoma's got to figure it out before they play two lane you play like this against two lane two Lane's gonna beat you too two lane almost beat Kansas State this week so again my answer to some of the offensive issues is I need to see Nick Anderson and a Anthony out there against two lane I think if you do that it opens up the offense a little bit more it makes it to where Jackson Arnold can get the ball Deon Burks he has more targets we heard so much about pedway you got to put pedway out there you got to give the running backs more carries and then from there you just got to figure out how to get the ball fast so it's pretty much all I got for you guys it's it's it's frustrating I get it it's not fun so if you guys haven't already you guys have made it this far make sure you guys hit that like and hit the Subscribe button join the discussion let me know what you guys think till next time
