2024 Fantasy Football Mock Draft | 12-Team PPR - 5th Pick

what's going on everyone welcome back today we've got another live fantasy football mock draft for you back on fantasy pros with a 12 team full PPR mock where we will be selecting fifth overall our roster one quarterback two running backs two wide receivers a tight end flex and then five bench spots but that's pretty much it so let's kick this thing off and while we wait a quick reminder if you guys might have we'll do our best to answer them all but with that being said let's dive into this draft and quickly take a look at the first four picks they were as follows Christian mcaffrey cidd lamb Tyreek Hill and Bree hall now if I was going to go wide receiver here I would probably go Jamar Chase it' be between Jamar Chase and am man Ross St Brown um you know coincidentally there are the top two names still left but if I were going you know running back it would easily be bej Robinson for me and the problem that I have you know with picking right kind of in the middle for the most part right of the first round is I know that in the second round the value of those running backs is really going to kind of fall off I mean that's also the case for the wide receivers but I always say it's easier to get that wide receiver talent in the later rounds than it is with the running backs there's more question marks so while I do like Jamar Chase while I do like Aman rain Brown I will be going bejan Robinson here I want to treat this you know as close to what I would actually do come my own draft day you know we're getting in the thick of it uh mid late August so with that being the case I want to have some you know uh realistic picks here now going to the uh draft board here so we can see the next couple of selections we have Aman ra Jamar Chase Justin Jefferson Garrett Wilson so a slew of wide receivers followed by saquon Barkley AJ Brown Jonathan Taylor jir Gibbs uh with the first pick in the second round so you know what stands out to me here uh again I think the way that uh I always say I really like having one of these last couple of picks this year in particular allows you to get uh potentially if you get a little bit lucky two tier one players at different categories at running back in a wide receiver different positions that is um so you know here maybe if the person had got uh Jonathan Taylor first uh or uh something like that then they could have still gotten puka AA or an AJ Brown later just kind of illustrating that as an example the second round jir Gibbs puka kyn Williams Derrik Henry Devonte Adams Mike Evans Michael Pitman so going to the big board here you know I'm looking at the names and I would love to get Drake London but I've already got bejan Robinson um so the other names that I'm looking at if it's wide receiver right I'm looking at Chris olve I'm looking at maybe a jayen w but I think it's too early so I'll probably do something that I haven't uh you know done too too often I'll go with Marvin Harrison here I still think he's overvalued I think that you know uh there's much better value with a Malik neighbors but I think right now the way we started out our roster with bejan Robinson normally I would have gone Drake London pivoting here just a little bit now going to the third round after a Michael Marvin Harrison pick you see Travis etn Patrick Mahomes the first quarterback off the board then ol then Pacho would have loved if Pacho F fell to me Drake London I really like this build right here ay Pacho drank London but this really really fell in a favorable fashion um with the one-on-one pick then Alvin cherra Cooper cup would have really liked if Cooper cup fell to us doesn't happen you know he's been boosted up up a little bit with the puka injury and then Travis Kelce the first tight end off the board here I'm looking at guys like you know Sam lapto who's banged up right now uh and somebody like a McBride or a Donan Kate I don't think there's a huge huge difference so with that being the case you know I'm going to wait a little bit to to get that uh you know top tier uh tight end so right now if I'm going running back I'm looking at basically I I I've highlighted why I'm passing an aan I think there's just way too many guys there I think there's going to be efficiency issues um I think that the volume is going to be what people expect Rashad white James Cook Josh Jacobs would probably be the next choices at running back wide receiver again I mentioned it Jaylen W I think is a good value he's a little bit banged up right now but nothing too too serious so I think right now I probably lean jayen Wadd we could go with Josh Allen but I think that's going to really throw off our um our build here but you know maybe maybe we we do a favor to all those early quarterback drafters and see why going with Josh Allen just you know really puts you behind the eightball use this as an illustration so you know let's I guess let's do that the first two picks we I think we followed a disciplined approach here some people might find themselves in this situation so let's let's simulate that I personally don't like the pick but uh that's just me so we won with Josh Allen then it was Lamar Jackson hn Sam laapa DJ Moore niic Collins J Jen Herz Josh Jacobs dbo Samuel Rashad white James Cook Joe Mixon all those running backs that we highlighted are gone so that's another problem right there um Jaylen Wadd also selected Mark Andrews and Chris Godwin so now if we're looking at her number two running back it'd probably be Kenneth Walker which I don't feel as good about as some of those other running backs that we had if we're going tight end here I mean if we go you know just ball the wall I guess we go Trey McBride and just punt on getting some uh getting a number two running back a number two wide receiver I think there's a small chance that cancade can make it back to us let me look at the draft board here if that's the case I'd have the stack with Josh Allen so this person has a tight end you know maybe we got to survive six picks I'll take the chance I'll take I'll go Kenneth Walker here and then see if dlin Kade Falls to us or not I think there's a chance he might and not only does he but Trey McBride is still on the board so we're in an interesting situation here where we could get the stack with Josh Allen donin Cade or we can go with McBride who I do project as the better value at this point in time but let's see what made this possible after we went Kenneth Walker Brenan auk bque neighbors DK metap Devon Smith Montgomery Anthony richardon randri Stevenson and Stefan Diggs so here there's some really good value wide receivers still left on the board but I mentioned that I could have gone with you know uh a tight end last round but let's let's do that now get high upside at all these positions and see how this thing turns out afterwards I think our depth at wide receivers is going a little bit uh hurting and potentially at running back as well so I'll go Trey McBride here otherwise uh if it wasn't I I'm a fan of the dton con Kade stack obviously having Josh Allen otherwise you know the the main reason I was considering Dalton con at all was because I have Josh Allen so just to get that out of the way there was a tight end run here so after we went to McBride it was Aaron Jones and Mari Cooper James Connor Terry McClaren yeah all those wide receivers I was looking at are gone uh for the most part donin k then goes a couple picks later George KD CJ strad Z George Pickins T Higgins I really like T Higgins uh Kyle pittz Murray Joe burough javante Williams so here yeah the top suggestion is Christian Kirk I'd agree with that I think afterwards you know there's some there's some guys that I have some more question marks about the uh the injury to with with uh Christian Kirk at this point in time you know just kind of uh showing you guys to confirm that it's nothing super super serious um as soon as we get down to here let's see what's going on uh updates I mean it's no even real main updates here as far as far as the injuries concerned let's let's take one more look so calf injury I'm not too uh like I said before I'm not super super worried at this point in time um right now there's going to be a lot of nagging injuries right with it being mid August they're still you know about a month to go until the season kicks off um none of the nagging injuries at this point in time have really turned into anything serious or there you know any setbacks so I will go Christian Kirk here as our number two um wide receiver and now at this point in time I'm going upside I think wide receiver we need to address still Calvin reallyy is the is the next best wide receiver that I'm looking at tank Dell Rashid rice Deontay Johnson were all selected so C Ridley especially with DeAndre Hopkins you know being older um and I think probably with his best days behind him Calvin Ridley makes sense here getting him as our Flex option and let's see now at this point in time we're just going to be filling out our bench if any good values at running backs are still still left so after our selection of C Ridley was locket Naji DeAndre Swift Jaden Daniels Jaden Reed Raheem moner Xavier worthy Tony par Jonathan Brooks Jonathan Brooks would have been a solid pick on this team but doesn't make it back to us Holio Brown Eckler Brian Robinson Deon sleary and Keon Coleman so looking at the cheat sheet here wide receivers again uh you see a lot of injury designations but none of them right now uh are as serious um I'd say the most serious one is DeAndre Hopkins with that strained knee so I have our tight end I think Evan is a good value but again we already have our tight end we've got our quarterback I think we start loading up on running backs and here I'll go with Jerome Ford picking between Zach moss and Chase Brown is is a little bit tougher I know what I'm going to get with Jerome Ford I think that you know uh Nick chub is going to be sidelined for a little bit and if one of Zach Moss or chase Brown Falls to me then I'll go with them this next round and that does happen Chase Brown is still there so I guess let's go with him I've said before I think that uh Zach Moss is going to be the guy to kick off the season I was hoping truba hubard would fall to us he doesn't um I think he's also another excellent start of the Season type of pick because again Jonathan Brooks is going to be out for a while I'm not scared off by miles Sanders but here you just see a slew of running backs right Spears Zeke Gus uh Blake corm Benson JK Dobbins sharan chuba uh Antonio Gibson alir so right now other running backs that I'm excited about I think we can wait you know Ray Davis is a potential name at Buffalo behind James Cook but I think I think we can be we can be patient we can look at the wide receiver position now looking at some of these wide receivers uh we could go with you know a Brian Thomas but we've already got Christian Kirk I like I like Curtis Samuel as a sleeper I do at the wide receiver position I think that he's somebody that paired with Josh Allen could be a sneaky addition so I'm going with Curtis Samuel here I'm okay you know if it's considered a quote unquote reach other wide receivers Roman dun becomes a decent value jacobe Meers is still there coming off a pretty good season um we did an all right job filling out our running backs so I'm not necessarily forcing a Roshan Johnson pick Ray again Ray Davis is there um he'd probably be my Preferred Choice so if we're going wide receiver at this point in time again I like Josh Palmer for the Chargers with lad makoni banged up right now so let's go with Josh Palmer I think just too many mouths to feed with Jackson Smith and jiga I don't trust the Denver offense Sim similar situation with Roma dunesday too many moues to feed so it's either jacobe Myers or Josh Palmer I'll go with Josh Palmer I trust the quarterback situation there a little bit more so um and then we have one final pick to make here jacobe Myers rash rased Shahed are both guys that I don't mind I think at this point in time the running backs are you know second third string type of guys so I'm going to be going wide receiver here we don't need a tight end we've got McBride let's go with jacobe Myers and that will wrap up our Squad here and see the draft grade that we got so we get a b-grade uh 86 out of 100 you know I still believe that we reached on Josh Allen our wide receiver position is shakier than I would like uh the fact that we have a rookie wide receiver kind of anchoring it makes me feel u a little bit uh nervous I think there are some other names that we could have looked at in that um third fourth round potentially we also went with a tight end a little bit earlier than normal and again I think I think you see some of the drawbacks here with the wide receiver position and then the bench it has it has some uh potential but I think the problem with the bench is it's a lower ilk of um of potential depth but either way hey let me know your thoughts if you guys enjoyed hit that like
