Intro [Music] Gus March Phillips I have a mission I want you to lead thank you Sergeant what's the plan to neutralize the German UB boats in the North Atlantic this is your second time Henry Golding on playing Freddy Alvarez working with guy Richi yes it is how are you approached to play Freddy Alvarez you know it's kind of a funny story I was in um uh jeda at the Red Sea film festival and uh I was actually attached to sort of a a film before and I bump into guy at lunch just a really like short sort of like hello because we both had things to do but literally like two three days later I get a a script set through and my agent sort of like just nonchalantly sort of just passes me this email like I literally as soon as I see the EMA I ring up like whatever it is I'm doing it and so it turned out to be Ministry um so uh that I got the lucky chance to play Freddy who's a who's a fun uh very sort of explosive character actually my my character wasn't a part of the original uh novel that was uh it was based on which was uh operation postmaster um Cavs character Mar um the captain obviously um Lassen was a real character but mine was sort of modeled out of um sort of the different men and women who took part in those different sort of operations and things like that um so for me I I got a little bit more of a free reign to sort of create whoever I wanted and I wanted this kind of kind of slick not really slick but kind of nonchalant killer in in a in a way uh you know all of those guys would have seen so much H happening in World War II um so they've all been sort of hardened by that he Taylor Made this Henry Golding on his career role for you I think that's actually even better there you go if I'm to do this I'll need my own team you won't like them go they're all bad they'll need to be you know can you talk to me how you feel that you've grown as an actor and if you could give 2018 crazy Rich Asians Henry of advice about his career what would yeah you you know the wonderful thing about my career is that um you know even if I were to give advice to my younger self um I don't think it is as good as living out the experience and learning through the Rights and Wrongs I think the way that I've sort of grown into being sort of an actur and and really fine-tuning sort of my craft and it's it's a NeverEnding process but I think you have to go through uh pulling of the teeth and and and sort of the grind to really hone yourself as as a person and to be able to sort of understand what's happening in a scene and to be able to sort of derive something from character um and so for me I you know I I I don't think I'd be able to give my advice apart from keep doing what you're doing I think um you know it's going to lead to some some weird and wonderful places and and you get to work with some fantastic people so keep doing it that's the only advice Henry Golding on Crazy Rich Asians it's been in the news that you know John Shu who we all know and love is producing the crazy Rich Asians show on Broadway yeah two-part question amazing consider doing theater if you have you know musical theater at that and have we heard anything about you know the second installment of the film um to be honest I mean awesome that there's going to be a a broader audience sort of like being able to see something like crazy Rich agents on on Broadway or on on the in the West End um I will have no part in that um sadly I think it's going to be a fantastic young really vibrant um cast and crew um in terms of uh the second crazy AGS um I think it's it's it's up in the air I I I think they've left it very long I think there's so much room for spin-offs to be honest my story's been told um and I understand the books sort of have Rachel go elsewhere um but I think the real the real treasure is is expanding on the uh the other characters this Mission now hello can't hear you please do off want [Music]
