into a couple surprises a couple things you need to know and then we will go through the entire team first up on the surprises Elijah Mitchell season is over he's going on season ending IR due to a hamstring injury and that means Jordan Mason is officially rb2 I know a lot of you wanted to see that happen it will happen this year next up talanoa huanga was activated from the physically unable to perform list so that tells you the 49ers expect him back within the first four weeks of the season because remember if you start the year on pup you have to miss four weeks Niners are saying talanoa hufanga is going to be back before then that's Obviously good news next up the Niners cut five tight ends yesterday cam latu Braden Willis Logan Thomas Eric sabert and Mason Pine were all cut that leaves just two on the team right now George KD and Jake tonas now you could throw Kyle yek in there to be kind of like a deao third tight end but maybe a move is still to come couple other things to know if you look at the roster you're not going to see Dre greenlaw's name because he's going to open the year on the pup list so he doesn't count on the 53 man roster the same thing applies to Trent Williams not because he's on pup because he hasn't reported yet he's holding out he's on the did not report list he's not technically on the roster don't worry they didn't cut Trent Williams and last but not least Trent Taylor was cut so that means Jacob coing is your punt returner now let's look at the entire list first up on the offense three quarterbacks Brock pie Brandon Allen and Josh dos four running backs CMC Jordan Mason Patrick Taylor Jr and Isaac gendo fullback one we know who it is two tight ends as I mentioned KD and tonis seven wide receivers on the team Deo Brandon aayu Jawan Jennings Ricky peol Jacob Cen Chris connley and Ronnie Bell surprisingly eight offensive linemen Jaylen Moore Aaron Banks Jake brindle Dominick puny Colton mckivitz Spencer berford Nick zel and John Feliciano now to the defense nine defensive linemen on the squad Bosa Javon Hargrave Malik Collins Ard Floyd yor gr Matos Kevin given Jordan Elliott Robert Beal and Sam okanu six linebackers Fred Warner dandre Campbell Demetrius Flanigan FS D winners Tatum bethon and Curtis Robinson don't forget Dre green L as I said six corners Mooney Ward dador Lenor Isaac yadam Renardo green darell lutter and Ambry Thomas More on him in a minute four safeties Jer Brown George odm Malik Mustafa talanoa huanga and of course we know the specialist Jake Moody Mitch wishnowski and Taber pepper we love you strategery here when it comes to the roster they put them on the initial roster even though they know very soon they're going to move both to injured reserve the reason they didn't do it right away is because remember you get eight players that you can take from injured reserve and return to the roster if the Niners had put them on injured reserve right away they would have had to immediately decide whether or not they wanted to use one of those eight spots on those players so by waiting the 49ers can put them on IR later and then decide months from now maybe if they want to bring them back so they can see how they're healing before they make that decision so they don't accidentally use one of those eight slots on somebody that's not actually going to come back so very smart by the Niners two more faces probably joining this team before the start of the regular season one thing you may have missed there are upgrades coming to Levi Stadium 49ers announced yesterday they are investing $200 million into Levis because don't forget they're going to host the Super Bowl and the World Cup in 20126 so what are those upgrades well enhanced Wi-Fi and video boards that the team
