>> I love live music. Like,
I love live music. So I really wanted to see how it would feel
working in a setting like that, which is super insightful to work at Nelsonville. >> Every year, the Media School
selects a handful of students to run video and audio
for the Creekside Stage. Creekside stage,
I think, was a lot of people's favorite stage. People were just like hammocking
and having a good time, listening to like, smaller artists. So my role was part of the video
team, and over the course of like the 12 episodes we shot,
I helped shoot six of them rotating between different
camera operator positions, and I got to technical direct
and direct an episode as well. I was more involved with
audio, so make sure everything was recording
correctly and set the levels. Make sure everything sounds
good before each set starts. I was on the A&R team
and welcoming the artists to the artists tent. We also got their set list. There's something so, like,
magical about people that make music, and to be able to talk
to them and like, relate to them, like person to person was
such an awesome experience. I think working at a live
experience like NMF is definitely a great way to
throw yourself into it. You're there on site, you're
meeting people in your field. Connections in this industry
are super important and be able to sustain those connections
over not only the next couple of years at school, but hopefully
beyond that as well. If you want to get hands
on experience in the music industry, it's like a good
first step to take. It made me realize that
I definitely want to follow that path into live music. I'm actually looking into
doing live production after I graduate, so it was just
fun to get that experience. I would love to work in
like a live music setting. I think for media students
like that, this is probably one of the most important
things you could do.
