what's up everybody how y'all doing today uh you know about 39 more days and we get some uh college football right um wanted to talk about something just curious last night I went back and did a rewatch of the South Carolina Gamecock uh spring game trying to see uh different perspective and take a look at some players um and some of the plays that we ran during the Spring Game couple things I I I remember from the spring game uh especially on defense Dylan Stewart is a is a Hos I mean we saw that in the spring game uh when players get to the outside if they have any hesitation he has the real ability to run people down he has true speed at defensive end um it did just refresh everything I remember seeing from the spring game when I watched that last night um I think it's going to be very hard to keep him off the field uh so depth at defensive end I kind of really looked at that last night Gilbert Edmund made some plays in that spring game showed a lot of quickness um and uh of course Kyle Canard another guy J's gears coming back off an injury uh the defensive end Brian Thomas Jr made some some good plays um in the spring game also showed some speed getting off um one thing I was kind of curious on on that though is I was trying to look at our offensive line and I know it was broken up um to see who was going to be where uh to start the season trying to see who I would say is my starters on that offensive line I do think case and Henry will be the right tackle I do think big tree will be your left tackle I think uh teselli Simpkins is going to be one of your guards uh the other one will be Trayvon ball of course foran Lee I think will be in the middle um and I know I I just tried to look at who was doing what last night the the parks kid that's come in from Oklahoma did some really good stuff uh he made a couple key blocks on the out outside when he was pulling um he's a massive kid I one takeaway I did take away from our offensive line and they look pretty physical it's a massive group of guys I mean watching Veron Lee who's a big kid but standing in the middle between uh the rest of those guys man he looked kind of small um of course Josiah Thompson he just looks different like he's a big kid he's 300 lb but he does he carries 300 lb differently it's more of a athletic 300 lb to me instead of just the big bulky 300 lb he looks like an athlete um but like I said our defensive line looked really good too taka Hemingway played really well on that defensive line Boogie stepped it up a little bit in there of course you know TJ Sanders uh jws look really good holding up the middle a big guy um really took took like two blockers to block him in there something kind of I think South Carolina's kind of missed having that huge bodied guy on the interior of our defensive line that that he it just eats up blocks with people trying to block with him um kind of reminds me of some of the bigger kids we've seen in the last few years like the kid that played for Florida and uh the Walker kid that plays for uh Kentucky and then you had to remember everyone remembers Jordan Davis from uh Georgia I don't know if the kid has that type of talent or whatever Jewels but I'm just telling you he eats up the middle and I think it gives some Freedom now I did see us run some stunts on defense which you would typically think you're not going to see that in a spring game but we did see some stunts work with our defensive line um and some twists in there kind of something I don't remember seeing a lot of last year it was almost like helmet on helmet type defensive stuff we did last year so that was one takeaway I took from it um yeah I know there was a lot of whistles in that game uh sacks and stuff but there's some sacks that were in there that you got two quarterbacks that are 63 to 6'4 over 240 lb between Leno sellers and Robbie Ashford I don't think you're going to have one-handed sacks and I I noticed Shane Beamer saying last night that in the scrimmages they had the quarterbacks were live and it wasn't that easy to get a sack on those guys cuz he was giving the defensive line a hard time and they were giving him a hard time about blowing the whistle calling things a sack um One play I really remember was Robbie Ashford getting to the outside and they were calling it a a sack but Robbie was actually getting up to full speed at the time that the guy uh put his hand on him I don't think legit that's going to be a sack I don't think you're bringing Robbie Ashford down with one hand when he's got a full head of speed going um another thing I noticed we did a lot and uh I still think rocket Sanders of course is going to be the starting running back and I think Rocket's going to be the leading rusher for the team barring no type of injury or anything like that but I noticed a lot of dump off passes to Oscar outway from Lenor sers a lot of quick hitters out of the back field and him getting behind that defensive line and catching the ball and when he got the ball in his hands he was a hard person to tackle um so I I'm kind of seeing that Oscar outway is probably going to see a lot of action in football games on passing Downs cuz he seemed like a really good receiver he secured the ball well and once he got the ball in his hand he was kind of hard he he made some moves and broke some stuff open um we didn't get to see rocket centers of course because he was still going through the rehab of his injury uh Jaan how one thing I I really noticed I knew he was a big kid but when I really noticed it last night between plays and stuff as he's coming off the field he's a much bigger kid and I think a lot of people are realizing or or you don't realize by if you're just kind of watching the game and you're not paying attention to these kids coming on and off the field the actual size of them Joan how's a big kid at running back um how they going to work that running back room uh cuz brazwell broke some stuff and was a like ran the ball hard in that uh spring game so I think there's going to be space to run him too especially in some relief Duty give guys breathers he's a he's a Basher too so I mean to me South Carolina has four running backs that can run up the middle um between the tackles uh also once them guys get outside they can make some moves now the one thing I was kind of a little bit about is how does this sort of make our defense look uh so I just like the defense has got to get better this year they need to apply a lot of uh pressure on quarterback that help our defensive backs out um the one goofy play with Gerald Kilgore throwing the football didn't make sense farari Swain was in on a lot of he was around the football seemed like every time the ball was in the air he seemed to be a kid that was so I expect big things out of him jayen Kilgore of course we expect big things out of him judge coler's a long linky guy I expect good things out of him and a quarterback Nick even wor looks like he's even though he was still they said he was still kind of dinged up a little bit during the spring game but he stayed in there um has gotten bigger I think he looks like a NFL type safety now uh DQ Smith of course plays really good in that safety position and of course Gerald Kilgore will also fill in in safety um but there was just some takeaways by going back and watching the spring game that I I kind of caught that I didn't remember from the spring game or maybe I just didn't see it during the spring game um I think our wide receiver course probably a little better than people are expecting I think they kept it very vanilla and you also have to think that all those wide receivers kind of didn't get to play with Lenor throwing the ball a lot um I don't I don't think they showed a lot of tricks Tyson Russell caught the ball lot better in the spring game he had some drop issues last year but he looked like to be the man for Lenor Sellers as far as comfort now since the new wide receivers are coming in the kid uh uh the kid from Florida State and DeCamp coming in from Nevada another big 64 wide receiver we have um plus now Harbor is back in that mix too maybe that kind of changes up some um but I'm anxious to see how they're going to work that wide receiver room because they I think they do have a lot of guys I think you're going to see some of these guys uh be real productive on special teams too uh I know we're joking around and playing but like larva Dan and brown and these guys on kick returns and that type of stuff I don't know who ends up winning that job um but they have some moves on they once they get the ball in their hand and they have a lot of quickness to them uh and I I know South Carolina fans remember back to the a Sanders days and you you know even Debo which Debo was a different type uh body type on kick returns and punt returns and that type stuff um deo's a a wide receiver uh built like a running back but I am anxious to see how they're going to handle their rotations because there's a lot of guys like I said on that offensive line even though I just told you that I think cam Pringle Josiah Thompson a lot of those guys the younger guys that came in or get some quality snaps this year uh there's just some massive guys on this football team that I think maybe our offensive line it just seemed to be undersized in previous years where now it looks like bigger bodies maybe uh like I said the parch kid from Oklahoma showed a lot of athleticism on pools and coming out and making blocks on the perimeter um was pretty impressive I mean I I I don't know where he is is in that rotation on the offensive line um you know there's just there's there's there's some players and I think there's some depth that a lot of people aren't really realizing that I think South Carolina has now probably more than they've ever had under Shane Beamer you know the linebackers are flying around you had Kamar in there of course dbo Williams in there you're going to have um uh a lot more speed and no I'm not knocking on Stone Blandon or pup how pup how was a very young freshman Stone blaton very young but they had some missteps and I don't think they had the speed to make up once they made a misstep where I think the guys that we have now do I think these guys have some quickness to them they they flash to the the football um and I'm anxious to see how they're going maybe I create my own starting lineup before the season and what I think once some more information comes out once we start fall Camp uh I think we're about a week away before practice starts um but then maybe I'll try to you know offer information what we're hearing who we think is going to be starters but it's a lot of choices right like I said we know lenorris is going to be number one at quarterback I don't think that's uh in question right now pretty sure rocket Sanders is going to be our star and running back um just too many good things coming out about him being healed up and looking like he's in tremendous shape right now um but wide receiver who's the first three receivers go out then you have Juju who's kind of a gadget running back but they also put him in the slot do we see him more in a pass catch and roll um because I mean you're looking forward deep at Big bangers for running backs um I think Fuller who came in I he'll probably see a little bit of action but I think they really want to red shirt him so even if you think about it I think AdAway maybe has one more year that he can play I don't know he's one of the older guys that came in from North Texas um but even if he doesn't Jaan how you have a young guy DJ brazwell a young guy uh Fuller a young guy the running back room I don't think I think you have some depth there for a few years uh you just got to keep recruiting guys right um wide receiver like I said it's a six half dozen however you want to State it on who's going to walk out on that field first but I did see I think a lot of people may be overlooking Tyson Russell but I'm thinking you go back and look at that spring game he may be one of those first wide receivers on the field um is Nick Harbor going to start over DeCamp I've heard a lot about Devon Camp since he's come in there working with the quarterbacks and stuff he's a 6-4 guy um do you see him try to go with the tall guys to start out with and one of the smaller guys in the slot um it'll be interesting how they work this offense who walks onto the field first um you know it it I think there's a lot of anticipation now for South Carolina fans on who is I think people want to see who's going to be on the field first who's who's going to be the edges uh does Gilbert Edmund start does uh Dylan Stewart just be too good in Fall practice to keep him off the field is it Kyle Canard is a dezu another one that looked really good in the spring game they're all longer taller linier guys I think canard's probably looks the like one of the bigger bigger ones as far as Weight Wise but I mean you look at dezu and you look at and Dillard Stewart and it just kind of reminds me of the Devon Taylor to Daven Clowny now I know there are different players that there's not many other uh javian Clowny running around in college football but they're that bill right that quick First Step kind of guys but I think they may be a little bit better Clowny was good against a run when he wanted to be good against a run but sometimes he Ed not to want he wanted to get after the quarterback so we'll see how that works out um the interior defensive line I think everybody's really high on those guys um a lot of experience in there with with Boogie and TJ and um Tonka so I don't know I just think maybe this team's going to surprise some people and I'm not just saying that because I'm a South Carolina fan if I was not a South Carolina fan and I'm looking at this team I think hey this could be a team that can that can surprise some teams this year if you start getting that mindset of thinking that South Carolina's not going to be good be careful because I think there's enough bite in the South Carolina football team that they're going to bite a couple people if you start overlooking and looking for those games uh the next game the next game be careful be careful with this football team um like I said they bulked up Robbie Ashford he's up to 240 lbs now so uh don't be surprised to see him in running some sets himself um depending on how the Situation's going at the time right if Len noris gets out there early seems to be struggling against um Kentucky or somewhere like that on the road Robbie brings a little more experience he's played in SEC football games wouldn't be surprised to see Robbie come in for a little bit just to calm Lenoris down some and let him sit over there and watch I'm not predicting that to happen I just know it's a possibility if you have a Young quarterback that seems to be struggling on the road I wouldn't count it out um but anyway that was kind of my takes of going back and looking at the spring game uh I just wanted to see uh and slow it down a little bit cuz one thing watching it on TV it's another thing watching it on YouTube where you can kind of pause and go back and look at something again and kind of break it down a little easier just like coaches sit in the room and they watch film right that's what I did with the spring game last night I sat down and just took my time and watch the game I'd stop it i' go back a little bit rewatch a play kind of see how the offensive line was blocking see how the defensive line was bringing pressure so it's kind of a cool thing to do Gart fans if you're looking for some football and you're all Juiced up about it get on YouTube go back and watch the spring game where you can stop it and pause it and kind of SL it back look at some of the players uh get to know some of the names that you don't know of the new guys um because Brady hunt was wide open on a pass uh too he broke loose and they ended up it was a bad pass but I mean he's going to be a player he's going to be a guy that catches balls for us this year uh big big kid and I think his blocking is really good so just get to know the names get to know the players uh go back and look at some of the spring games and uh maybe you have a little bit more of a optimistic opinion going into the season but still got to play the season right still know Everybody's Got Talent still know everybody's got pass rushers there's good defense there's a lot of speed in the SEC but I just think this team may surprise a few people but anyway I'm going to get out of here appreciate
