Friday evening to face off against the Wisconsin Badgers in a non-conference season opener at Camp Randall Stadium the Broncos aimed to bounce back from a disappointing 4 to8 season last year while Tigers But ultimately fell short the last time these two teams met was in the Cotton Bowl on January 2nd 2017 where the Badgers emerged Victorious with a 24-6 win over the Broncos on a neutral field historically Wisconsin has had the upper hand in this matchup winning four out of the last five meetings between the two teams including their 2017 Cotton Bowl Triumph Western Michigan ended their 2023 season on a sour note losing their final two games against the spread and suffering a shutout loss to the Northern Illinois Huskies 24 to0 on the road in contrast the Badgers closed out last season strong pushing or winning their final three games against the spread and Performing well at home the Broncos defense was a major weak point last season allowing the sixth most yards per play in game May lack the offensive Firepower to produce a high-scoring affair the Broncos failed to surpass 10 points in their final two games of the 2023 season and were held to 17 points or less in three of their last five games similarly the Badgers went under the point total in four of their final five regular season games and their offense was held to 14 points or less in three of their last five outings when playing at home Wisconsin also went under the point total in four of their last five games despite Western Michigan's defensive struggles they managed to hold opponents to under 20 points per game in 2023 given these factors Friday night's matchup is shaping up to be a one-sided affair with Wisconsin's defense taking Center Stage all signs point to a lower scoring contest in Madison on the other hand wrapped up its final year in the Pack 12 by continuing its struggles recording a 3 to9 record for the third consecutive season as both teams gear up for this non-conference Clash on Friday night they will be eager to start the season on the right foot and turn things around from last year's disappointments Stanford has largely faded Into Obscurity since the departure of Jim Harbaugh while TCU was competing for a national title just 20 months ago the most significant challenge for Stanford this season will be its defense which was one of the worst in the nation last year according to Pro Football Focus Stanford's defense posted an expected points added per play of 0.210 ranking them dead last facing a TCU offense that is poised to improve this year will be a daunting task for the Cardinal the horn frogs who were 34th in scoring last season with an average of 30 and A2 points per game returned their top two wide receivers as well as their quarterback which will provide a solid foundation for their offense to build upon although both TCU and Stanford had underwhelming seasons in 2023 the horn frogs are better positioned to bounce back this year TCU has game last season and this year's defense doesn't appear to be much better this should give TCU quarterback Tyler van djk and the horn frogs offense plenty of opportunities to make big plays down the field with Stanford likely to rely heavily on the passing game due to their lack of a strong running attack ier could be a big play threat for the Cardinal help helping to keep their offense moving
