the Miami Dolphins picked up a massive week one win against the Jacksonville Jaguars but we are not stopping here because we have to take down the Buffalo Bills this Thursday night and I appreciate take down the bills on Thursday [Music] I am Nick RF this is dolphins today by Chad Sports and on today's show we're going to go through the news in rumors after the win on Sunday against Jacksonville because there's some injury stuff we have to talk about but we also have to show some love to Tua the offensive line and just kind of really put a bow and ribbon on the week one win we'll start with the injury news and the only one that really is present for Miami is an injury to David long Jr we already know that obj and others like Bradley chub are going to be out due to them being on the pup list for the first four games but David long Jr played in every single snap on Sunday but also had an injury to his hand and was asked about it um today and how he was feeling and he says oh it was was a little bit of soreness no big deal there and he's cool he's straight which is great news because David long Jr's one the voice of this Dolphins defense two the captain and it's important that he's on the field for every snap once again against the Buffalo Bills because when you have a player like Josh Allen at quarterback who's got that Big Frame he's 65 heavy but good with the ball in his hands and likes to run the football in the red zone and to scramble on third Downs you need your linebackers to be playing physical and you need them to be able to come up and lay a hit on the quarterback scrambling out and too many times in the past between these matchups of Miami and buffalo that the linebackers for the Dolphins just weren't not ready to make a play on Josh Allen when he scrambles outside of the pocket I expect David long Jr and Jordan Brooks to do the opposite to lay the boom not let Josh Allen get away with any Tom Foolery but I will say this with David long Jr he was terrific in that week one game on Sunday against Jacksonville he was the highest graded linebacker and not even just the linebacker highest graded player defensively for the dolphins with an overall grade of 76.6 according to F but they also graded him as the highest run Defender 82.9 was his grade so the Dolphins even though they got gashed at times in the first half by Tank bsby and Travis etm they actually performed really well against the Run specifically in that second half and you could thank the linebackers and interior defensive line for that David long Jr was terrific Jordan Brooks and his dolphin's debut was great and I know a lot of people are going to make of Andrew van GLE making good plays for Minnesota in their game against New York people are going to make a deal about Jerome Baker but I truly do believe the linebacking tandem that Miami has of David long Jr and Jordan Brooks is among one of the best in the entire NFL and not only did David long Jr play every single snap for the Dolphins in week one by the way so did Jordan Brooks that one surprised me because I thought Anthony Walker Jr was going to be rotated in there more especially on pass heavy situations because he is one of the best PFF graded pass coverage linebackers over the past three seasons But ultimately they roll with the duo of Brooks and long Jr and it looked like a dynamic duo in Sunday and I expect to see them continue to grow and play well together going forward and they're going to come up huge on Thursday and they're going to be needed all right make sure you are supporting the defensive captain he'll be ready to go on Thursday at least it sounds like he will spam those sticks spam those number 11s to support the defensive captain of the Miami Dolphin all right now we got to show some love to the offensive line of Miami because when you think of about this crew of teron Armstead Austin Jackson Robert Jones Aaron Brewer Liam mikenberg it was our biggest concern for the team and they kind of shut that down they were really really good for this football team and when you think of how the Dolphins actually performed in tior in in terms of the trenches this past Sunday I thought the offensive line did extremely well in the past game they allowed just three sacks the entire game but they also had a collective grade of 78.9 n that's not just one person that is the entire offensive line when you think specifically of your two bookend tackles which are expected to be the best pro Protectors of quarterback Tu taloa well that's what you got you got them performing extremely well teron Armstead was the highest graded offensive player for the Miami Dolphins with a grade of 87.4 you know who is number two on that list Austin Jackson with a grade of 81.7 so when your left tackle and your right tackle where your two best offensive players in terms of off or grades from PFF that is going to tell you a lot of good things and that you are doing things correctly but we also got to show love to Liam mikenberg who posted an 80.1 overall grade in a 67.6 pass blocking grade and now I'm looking at some of these other ones Aaron Brewer at a 70.2 grade he was really good in his Miami Dolphins debut the worst offensive lineman was Robert Jones who started at left guard had a pair of penalties and had a raade overall of 54.6 wasn't ideal but it could be worse and if that is your worst offensive lineman because Liam Aaron and the two tackles played well well that's going to be fine by me all right before we move on here and continue also dial back our praise for the offensive line I thought they played extremely well I did but they're obviously not perfect they did an excellent job keeping Tua upright for the most part but they did struggle in the rushing Department we saw the Dolphins rushing attack not perform well they only averaged 3.2 yards per carry that is not good he 25 carries 81 yards isn't good at all especially when Tua ran for 11 yards so you take away that 11 yard scramble that he had and it's even worse of 24 carries for 70 yards that's not great whatsoever Jeff Wilson was actually the best back with 5.2 yards per carry as he kind of closed that game out with five carries late 26 total yards but Theon hen 10 for 24 Raheem oer 6 for9 the offensive line is going to need to be better on the Run department to get that push at the line of scrimmage but if they're able to pass protect even 80% of what they did on Sunday against Jacksonville I'm going to be okay with that because yes in no Run game really at all but the Jaguars front is really really good especially when you got players like aric Armstead Josh Hines Allen and then the former number one traven Walker who had two of the three sacks by the way for the Jacksonville Jaguars let's move off the offensive line now and talk about quarterback to a Tong of aloa because he was spectacular in my opinion and maybe spectacular is the wrong way to put it because he did finish us 23 of 37 in terms of completion which is about 62% but he also did have about three or four drops which would have turned that game around drops by Raheem moer coupled by Durham Smite who was horrible by the way jnu Smith dropped the pass so if you get those four catches that absolutely should have been caught we're now talking about a 24 for or 27 for 37 game which is much better closer to 350 at least yards for Tua Tong OFA I thought he was really really good had 101 QB rating including 140 Plus in the second half where he went absolutely nuclear found Jaylen Wadd for a massive 63 yard catch 80 yard touchdown pass to Tyreek Hill he didn't turn the ball over and that's kind of where is the most important and impressive thing to me for Tua in this game is that in the entire game all four quarters he had zero turnover worthy throws there really wasn't any time in the entire game that when it left to his hands you were like oh boy that might be intercepted no he was dropping it in the bucket or at least shading it away from the defender so they didn't have a chance to create a turnover and he had four big time throws as well where he was able to really make it and what is a big time throw you might be asking well it's a throw that is charted that is above above average or in a tight window deep down the field perfectly accurate when it needed to be Tua had four of them zero turnover worthy plays it was the most big time throws by the way by any quarterback in week one and not to mention this as well two aona led the NFL in passing yards with 4600 last season well two is 338 at least going into Monday Night Football is the highest in the NFL for week one all right we're going to close out the show here in just a second but it is Buffalo Bills hate week I hate the bills they're my least favorite team in the entire NFL so I'm spam my f buffalos if you are with me spam it down in the comment section all right Roy's last word this is the last time we're going to talk extensively about the week one game against Jacksonville cuz it's fully moving on to the Buffalo Bills game just a couple days from now on Thursday night gret that is my one word I can't tell you enough how impressed I was with the Miami Dolphins I know a lot of you wanted a more large margin of Victory I was with you I predicted the Dolphins to win by 17 I thought it was going to be a 3417 ball game by the way just realized it right now in this moment I exactly predicted how much the Jags were score I just thought the Miami Dolphins would score a little bit more themselves but to find themselves down 177 at half time the Jacksonville Jaguars on the precipice of going up 24 to7 and ready to take a three-score lead Javon Holland knocks that ball out next play twoa 80 yards to Tyreek Hill for tuty that is a gritty come from behind Victory and a lot of fans are not happy with how they looked I will take an ugly win over a pretty long every single day of the week and I'm telling you this as well I do not think that this Dolphins team last season would have won that game but with a new roster more veteran leadership some different coaches as well on the staff they were able to pull it out from behind they were fast they were physical the defense pitched a shut out in the second half made Trevor Lawrence look like he was seeing ghost in the final 30 minutes of that ball game I could not be more impressed with this team and this win to me tells you more about this Dolphins football football team than this 70 to 20 win last
