hi Paul from Athletics weekly the running shoe Guru this is the West Lancashire mland it's my hometown it's raining and these are the new Hawker tekon X3 and I'm about to take them out for my first run in them so come along let's see how they uh how they go [Applause] so a couple of minutes on the road to start and that dual layer of per form is as we've come to expect from these new supercritical forms very soft and responsive you've also got twin parallel running carbon plates running the length of the shoe and the tekon X3 that allows you to to Contour more easily um allowing the shoe to adapt to the terrain but without sacrificing the propulsive nature of the carbon fiber as is often the case when you get up in the morning and you feel like you've got a lot of time on your hands to get you running by the time you get around to doing it starts to rain and um that's the case for me today as well so we're about a mile in the shoes got a matrix fabric upper and that's got these uh The Matrix which is a kind of a um a stronger yarn knitted in to the fabric and that adds strength um and durability to the material but it also adds um I think a little bit of water resistancy to it as well the Upp of the shoe and the 4ft ramp across the toes is um a stretchy material as well so that plenty of Wiggle space um there is plenty of room in the shoe that booty upper construction like a gator the stretch elasticated knitted upper um does allow protection stops Debby from getting in there um and it's a really snug fit actually it's really nice very comfortable I think you do have to wear a longer sock which I am doing today um so you don't get any rubbing don't get a sock with within the shoe but yeah Cru sock is perfect and overall a very nice fit so 5 miles done it brightened up a little bit it's still quite gray but at least the uh the rain blew over um 5 miles Hawker tekon X3 so remember this is the shoe this is the commercial on sale retail version of the shoe that Jim Warmsley the USA won the UTMB 2023 in so it covered over 100 miles and quite a bit of vert um last year and I think that's probably Testament to the fact that the shoe feels light on the foot it's cushioned responsive but it kind of disappears as well it's very comfortable I only did five miles reasonably technical in terms of variety of surfaces gravel stone rock um grass and a little bit of mud today but very kind of churned up if you like very une and the shoe felt very stable comfortable and respons Ive wrapped around the foot almost disappeared on my feet so yeah if it's good enough for gym over 100 miles plus it'll do for me over 5 miles on the MOs here so it's out now tekon X3 from hok enjoy
