Home decor shopping [Music] I have started collecting so many [Music] things so Nancy Myers I love it I'm just really happy with the way that it's all starting to come together good morning I am just getting ready to go thrifting because it has been on my Tod do/ to want list for so long and the problem that I'm having is most of the thrift stores are kind of over in Virginia and they're all very spaced out and it takes me about an hour to get to any of the stores without a car and I've been trying to map it out not only with the thrift stores but with like all home related stores to try and figure out how I can hit multiple stores in the one go if you're new here my name is Rachel I just moved to Washington DC from Australia and I am in the process of setting up my new apartment and I am going to go to a place called Mosaic District today which has a thrift store but then also has like Pottery Barn West Elm anthropology all of those stores so I'll be able to hit multiple things at once which will be great and I'm really looking forward to it I am going to give myself a few hours there wander around have a real good look at everything also just you know take in a little bit of the Autumn stuff I know it's August and it's still early but I just want to have a look at that and I think I'm going to make a good day of it I'm hoping that I find a few things at the thrift store also too just to make it easier on myself my boyfriend's going to pick me up after work so if I do find any sort of furniture pieces that would fit in his car that will also be really handy so anyway I am about to head out and yeah go and do some thrifting and some home decor shopping I am all ready to go Outfit also you may notice in the background I finally have a TV we finally moved it the other day and it's been so nice to have but this is my outfit for heading out today I've got my denam Scot a gray t-shirt my black tote bag and then my black Steve Madden sandals it's going to be really hot out there I've also packed an umbrella just in case I have to stand anywhere in the sun like waiting for a bus or something and I can protect myself and then also down here I have a new little plant I got this one from Lowe's the other day I completely forgot to show it in my last video I don't know where I'm going to put it but it was only 15 bucks and it came with the pot as well and I thought that was a pretty good deal so I don't know where he's going to live but he is there for now anyway let's head out and do some home decor shopping and some [Music] Thrifting thrifting first stop is thrifting oh my gosh this place is massive and it's so busy right now there's so many people I'm so excited to be able to start looking through everything hopefully I find some really cool stuff [Music] today I really like this dish and it's proper Crystal I was just reading that if you hold Crystal up to the light it will have like a little Rainbow prism effect and also when you tap it it has a you know a nice a sound than just gloss and I like it but there's a huge chunk out of the side of it so I think I'm going to put that one [Music] [Music] back I'm having a look at some coffee table books for when I finally get a coffee table I love plants and flowers but I'm also trying to go for some green colors so I found a couple here on the end I think I'm going to definitely get this one here in the middle and I'm just having a bit of a look I love floral planting books and they're so easy cuz they're usually the colors that I'm looking [Music] for I have started collecting so many things I've got some really good little finds I also really love this mirror here I just I don't know where I would put it I'm trying to think and it's only 20 bucks [Music] West Elm next stop is West Elm everything is so fresh and like modern at the moment I really like it I just think it's hard to find furniture for apartments cuz everything's a bit bigger and kind of designed for a house William Sonoma [Music] Target next up we've come to Target which I love there's so many things that I always want from here stuff I don't really need but stuff that I definitely want I really love this side table but it's just not something that I need right now [Music] Pottery Barn as much as I love Pottery B everything is designed for a house house so everything's very very big they don't have a lot of smaller items that would fit in an apartment and over here we've got some pumpkins and we're starting to get all of those fall colors which I love I love the muted greens and then the soft yellows and oranges those are my favorite kinds o and mixed with like a little burgundy as well I think it's so pretty next up anthropology I love anthropology harm stuff like all the little bits and pieces are just so so pretty like look at all these G gorgeous candles and candle holders and over here Anthropologie we have the Autumn collection they have some really pretty pumpkin [Music] candles I'm just out on a park bench waiting to be picked up and I am so happy with everything I've got I cannot wait to get home to show you everything it's so Nancy Meers I love it and I think this might be my new favorite place there's just so many places to shop so many cute little restaurants like this one on the corner that has a rooftop so adorable and there's just so much going on good morning I filmed a Haul haul yesterday of everything that I purchased and then it was corrupt so I thought I would go back around my apartment collect everything which reminds me there's still two things missing now I have everything so I did a haul yesterday of everything and I figured I would just collect it all again today and just go through all the things that I purchased and then we can jump back to yesterday and start styling things up I'm going to start with the new things not the thrifted stuff I did buy one thing from anthropology and one thing from Pottery Barn the thing that I bought from anthropology is this candle and it's just gorgeous the container is stunning so when I'm done with it I'm going to keep it as like a little trinket jar or something and the scent is just beautiful it's so fresh and so this one was a bit of a Splurge item same with the Pottery Barn because between this and the Pottery Barn item they cost more together than the entire Thrift haul which is a little ridiculous but I just really liked these two items and I thought you know what but I'm just going to go for it so I got the candle and I love it I cannot wait to burn it and then from Pottery Barn and this one may be just a little bit ridiculous I bought this bunch of fake hydranges that kind of look like dried hydranges I just I love the greeny blue coloring of them and this Bunch was 50 bucks like it's a lot considering the ones that are up there behind me were only $6 a stem at Michaels so if I had bought this bunch at Michaels it would have been like $18 but I just really like the coloring in this and being that it's Pottery Barn it's definitely much better quality than the Michael's ones and I just I love the colors so those were my two little Splurge items and then the rest are all items that I picked up at the thrift store and everything is so beautiful I'm so excited about all the pieces I got so the first things that I got which these aren't really the first this is not in a chronological order or anything this is just the order I'm going to pick them up in but I picked up these two I think it's Coupe glasses I wish they were real crystal they're not they're just glass but they're so pretty and I thought that these would be really fun to make some drinks in but also just really fun to put up on those shelves in my kitchen K because the shelves in my kitchen really need to be like organized and styled so a lot of these pieces are kind of designed for that then I have these two gorgeous blue flower bowls from a brand called Nan tuck at home and I tried to Google these and I have no idea where you can purchase Nan tuck at home stuff it was really hard to Google I actually found this exact set off eBay for $35 I think I can't remember exactly how much everything costs but I'm pretty sure these were like $3.99 each or something so I feel like may have got a deal on these I'm not too sure but they're absolutely stunning although I was thinking about it I do think some of these pieces might be a little pricey cuz I've been looking at thrifting videos and stuff on Tik Tok and I think some of these might be a little pricey considering but I'm not too sure let me know if you are someone who regularly thrifts do you think these are a little bit pricey anyway next up is this fabulous teapot that is just so on brand for me right now I swear this is going to be probably the last blue item that I purchased for a while I did end up purchasing that bedding and it I think it's arriving later today or tomorrow so that will be in my next video but I did buy that before I bought this teapot so this will be the last little blue thing but I think this is so stunning I did notice that there's a little chip out of the side here though you could barely tell but yeah this was 10 bucks and it's just so perfect I also picked up this cane basket which this one still does have the price tag on $350 I love this I have no idea where I'm going to put it potentially in the entryway when I get a little cabinet when you walk in as a place to throw keys or just you know put some stuff in but I I love this I think this is so beautiful next I got a bunch of faux lemons I'd actually been thinking about getting myself some of these and when I saw the bag for like 3 or $4 I was like totally mine I'm taking it and you know what these are actually pretty good quality lemons like they look pretty realistic and I thought that they would just look great in my kitchen in this bowl this is a bowl that I got from harm sense when I was back in tunner collected all of my stuff and I love this I think this is so cool I wanted to do it with real lemons but I just don't think I'm going to be cooking enough or making enough things that I would use all of the lemons that would be in here I hope one day maybe when I have a family and have more people to cater to I can have actual real lemons but for now I have these fake ones and I just think it's so cool I didn't really get a chance to go through the clothing section I was in there for 2 hours and did just furniture and home but I did go through the dress section because I was hoping to find a little denim shift dress didn't find one but I did find this little navy blue and white striped dress I will try it on and I will show you but it has little tie up straps it also has pockets and it's from Old Navy and it turns out it was actually brand new never been worn and it's pretty good quality for Old Navy so I'm really excited to be able to just throw this on this is probably my favorite piece and it's kind of ugly it's this I'm going to guess a vase potentially a pot I'm thinking pot with a plant but like it has this green speckle through this blue it's really pretty I love it I don't know where I'm going to put it but I think it's just really really nice I also found a little clock which I'm going to stick on my bedside table this is actually still available brand new I I Googled it I tried to Google most things to see sort of what they were this is from the brand Howard and Miller still available on Wayfair I think it retails for like $100 I think I paid 11 for it but it is pretty much brand new like it's in perfect condition and then I also grabbed a couple of books for my coffee table whenever whenever I get around to actually getting a coffee table I did get one other book that I've already put away it's a coloring in book it's a Star Wars coloring in book I just had to have it because I like Star Wars and I thought why not but for these two books I have this fabulous one this is called the home edit and this is so up my alley this one was $450 so many organizational things in here and the book is just really pretty in general so really happy about that one and then I really like all the floral gardening books and this one is the book of herbs I don't really like the the cover because I feel like the green isn't exact like it's not been folded exact but then I realized I could just take the covering off and in this case the book is printed exactly the same and this and the spine is fully green plus it looks so new and Fancy without the cover you know the cover did its job it protected the book but I think I might ditch it and then put these on my coffee table I think that that's just a nice color combination I I just really really like the green spine here so that's the haul of everything that I bought new and thrifted and I'm going to jump back to yesterday and we're going to get some of it like organized and styled up I'm Styling thrifted items thinking a plant would look great in this vase pot I don't know what it is unfortunately this is the only plant that I have that I can actually take out and it's too big but I just feel like that would look amazing so I'm going to have to pick up another plant from Home Depot or Lowe's or something or actually even Trader Joe's I might even be able to do that today I don't know if Trader Joe's has any small plants right now but sometimes they do but I really really like this I don't really have a lot of places to put things right now so I might just put that here and I don't know figure out later where I can put it I probably should wash everything that I bought from the thrift store but this is the shelf that I want to organize cuz it's not very cute right now and I'd like to make it really pretty so I think that's what I'll do for the rest of the afternoon yeah I like that I think that's going to look really good up there once I finally style it all up Cleaning everything [Music] [Music] okay for my bedside table I was thinking Styling bedside tables I could put this little clock on here somewhere not sure and I'm thinking I'm going to put these hydranges into this vase so probably going to have to bend it about [Music] here it's a start I think I might need a different vase for the Hy ranges but it does the job for now I still need to figure out some lamps I want to get some that I think at least a decent height so they come a fairway up it's looking cute and I can't wait to get the bedding I Trying the thrifted dress thought I would try on the little dress that I bought and it fits so perfectly this is so cute it's also kind of a nice length like it's not too short although I do think just for proportions I could probably hem it maybe an inch or two and the pockets are so cute with the little tie straps so I need to go and put a load of washing on I'm going to throw this in the wash so that I can start wearing it I just realized it's brand new and never been worn I just cut the Old Navy tag off this is amazing what a great find I want to jump up and do Styling kitchen shelves something with these shelves they're so high so I'm going to have to stand on the bench I kind of wish there was a third shelf right at the bottom of the cupboards like there was in my last apartment and they're really deep and really high so from down here you can't really see that much so I have a little chopping board up the back I'm think I'm going to bring down and then everything else I'm just going to sit quite like close to the edge of the shelf so you can actually see it probably don't have enough stuff to get it fully done today but I want to do something to make it look a little bit [Music] [Music] better I put the new little V up there which I think makes a big difference and then I also put my new candle up there I don't want my new candle to be that far away cuz like it's so far up there I have to really stand on everything to get up there but for now I think that just makes it look a little more interesting the only thing that I could think of that would potentially make it more interesting would be to add some cookbooks at the back that might be an option but otherwise for now it'll do I mean looking at it through the lens on the camera it still doesn't look very interesting but I do quite like it I definitely think the bottom shelf looks nice and full next I'm going to do the Styling rest of kitchen lemons and make this space look a little bit [Music] cuter immediately looks so much better in here it looks clean and fresh I love the yellow I still think I may play around with all the stuff in the kitchen move things around but I'm making a start [Music] this is everything that's left over just a couple of Cups these blue bows I don't know where to put them but the more I look at them the more in love with them I am I have a glass teapot that's actually very practical I might just put that in the cupboard up here actually cuz that's pretty empty I might just put all of this stuff up here to be honest yeah there's not a lot going on in here so I definitely have the room for it I also brought this little basket out this used to be where I would keep my keys and whatnot and I've just thrown my Google home in there and I'm thinking maybe I could unplug it and maybe just cut one of the woven pieces and just thread it through the bottom but I don't know if I'll leave that there or not but that's just kind of my junk pile for the moment but yeah I feel like it's starting to look quite good in here I love these lemons I love this little section here I'd like to get some more wooden chopping boards as well for both you know looking pretty and also using I'm just really happy with the way that it's all starting to come together [Music]
