hopefully everyone had a wonderful long weekend hopefully everyone watched all of the football they could possibly watch and now you're back in conditioned for the rest of the season you know where your your favorite spot on the couch is you got the glare off the TV you're ready for a season I'm also going to kind of make that same plea to the Atlantic Coast Conference that you you figured out the Kinks the the ACC didn't light the world on fire but I'm not ready to wave the White Flag yet yet not yet okay despite multiple calls for it uh do this might be a problem with us kind of you know I like to brand that we're a fan of accountability MH um well the thankfully many of you are are listening and uh and and you're taking that into account for example Jason tweeted in love listening to the show and I know you're big on accountability so I'm just curious if you're going to slow down a bit with the ACC bragging rights next week tough day so this comes from Steve tough day so far for the ACC if Miami loses it'll be a disastrous day that was earlier um thankfully they did not they they crushed Florida smoked them and there were more I hear the calls for the ACC to to put their tail between their legs lick their wounds and and somehow admit inferiority I'm not there yet I'm not there yet and I and by the way we're going to talk about the good and the bad so so I think our accountability is still good we're still we're holding up the ACC was 15 and5 through the first week zero and week one but three of those losses came from teams that are actively suing the ACC so so they earned it I'm Karma maybe it's a Karma thing Florida state looks bad I get it I I get it they look terrible last like Clemson got run run over by Georgia I get it I I understand okay and Virginia Tech losing to Vanderbilt is bad there's there's really no excuse there I get it but what this is right what this is for the ACC right now is the chance for everyone that's been the loudest whiners to prove that there is something they legitimately had to whine about for years the criticism of the Atlantic Coast Conference is it's Clemson and Florida State and nobody else it's Clemson and Florida State and nobody else sure you have more national championships than the Big 10 but that's over the last whatever 15 years but that's just Clemson sure you have more blah blah blah but that's just Clemson in Florida State now it's time to prove you're not just that now it's time to prove that that everything you were arguing is true so NC State fans if you at any point in time said we'd be so much better nationally if we weren't in the same division as Florida State and Clemson now as your your time to prove it not only are divisions gone but it looks like Clemson and Florida State might be gone as well or at least significantly less of a roadblock than they were at one point in time UNC North Carolina you beat Minnesota that is a true Road game Power four win with your quarterback being lost for the season in the middle of it and a rainstorm too and then wasn't the didn't look like the most fun game to play if we're being honest no but uh it's more fun for the team that scored two more points than the other both of Florida State's losses actually prop up another ACC team Georgia Tech is in the AP Top 25 as updated today yep 23rd jumped up to 23 Boston College after yesterday I'm sure will Vault quite a bit in everybody's uh rankings and or reputation Miami had one of the signature wins of the entire week smoking Florida they jumped all the way up from 19 to 12 to Miami in Boston College by the way if you count past 25 would have been 27th also receiving votes UNCC got four votes we're counting them all counting them all baby the pressure is now on the others Florida State and Clemson for years have been able to at different times be the flag bearer for the Atlantic Coast Conference it appears after the first week and a half of the season they might need someone to spell them in that role this is the year to prove that the ACC is deeper than just two teams Miami NC State if they can get their act together after some speed wobbles against Western Carolina Louisville UNC Georgia Tech these are the schools now that have the pressure on them to carry the the the conference I'm I'm not I don't even think it's going out on a limb I don't think this is breaking news I don't think this is a bold prediction Florida State ain't making it anywhere near that college football playoff no Clemson obviously one loss is not the death sentence that it used to be in some of those races so if they get right and and maybe Georgia is that kind of Juggernaut they I'm not counting them out completely but if the ACC is going to get two or three teams into the college football playoff it's going to have to be some names that aren't the top two over the last 15 years it has to be that way I'm not waving the White Flag but I it is the moment where like you know star player gets hurt you look at the guy on the bench who's been asking for minutes going like hey guess what you're in the game Bud take off the warm-ups hey you wanted the ball here it is here it is and and it's sink or swim and you need three or four or five of them to swim what I will also say is Notre Dame looking solid right winning that Texas A&M game that is good for the ACC because the ACC needs big games on their schedule and with Notre Dame having the uh the agreement to play all the ACC teams or a bunch of them that is an opportunity for a lot of teams to level up got to win them though got to win them got to look good in them right got to pass the eye test in them there's no way and and this is part of why college football is great there's no way uh you know especially if you play in a power conference you're going to fool everybody right sometimes you get like I don't know the example I go to is uh I think it was 2007 University of Hawaii made the the Sugar Bowl and got smoked by Georgia it's like well it turns out winning all your games in the old whack conference uh Western Athletic Conference you know you can you can maybe not be ready for your closeup nationally and still run the table there in the ACC if if you're not legit that'll get snuffed out so I'm not asking for NC State or or Miami or UNCC Louisville Georgia to name your team Syracuse like any of these teams that have looked good Boston College to fake their way into anything I'm saying there's going to be opportunities for you to prove that you don't need to fake anything and yes if those teams fail if all of these teams run into each other don't look good uh if all of these teams falter in their biggest games then there will have to be some accountability for the ACC and I'm comfortable calling for that then it it's it does give some Credence to some past arguments right if Florida State and Clemson fall off in the ACC looks like a chicken with its head cut off then yeah there is some Credence to P arguments and we'll have to we'll have to eat that but the fact of the matter is it's 15 and five what do we what do what does that mean we have uh Stanford lost Virginia Tech lost Florida State lost Clemson lost out of 17 teams 13 are still undefeated I'm not throwing in the the the towel yet let's go I'm not here to say the ACC isn't what we thought it is yet I am here to say Florida State might not be what we thought it was Big 10 only had one loss to an ACC School boom SEC at one point they went what two and three and it could have been one and four thank you Virginia Tech yeah should have been one and four how you Vander could have would have should as we I'm not going to get in that they're two and three SEC and and nonconference power for games you're not at least when last I checked you weren't crushing it give it time the the the cream will rise to the the top and anyone that's a faker that's a that's a fraud will get exposed so until we have a multitude of of of the ACC or maybe even a majority of the AC C exposed I'm not throwing in the white flag yet but I do appreciate everybody keeping me accountable we're a big fan of accountability here on on the drive and I and I think we should continue to do that so keep it up but I'm not there yet and I don't think I'm going back on our accountability
