Ohio State vs Akron week 1 recap Will Howard for Heisman?

what is going on Bucky Nation we are back again on this Saturday afternoon college football first week man it's been some good games today uh it's been some uh I watch Georgia they look really good Clemy didn't look bad but man Georgia looks like the real deal man let me fix this light for a second there we go um yeah but Georgia looks really good man uh Clemson they look too bad uh Penn State looks solid like a pen State team um Miami's putting a shellen on Florida right now so but hey um just finishing up the Bucky game I think this might be a couple minutes left they're trying to uh just just got a pick six gay Powers uh but before we dive into the game and what everybody think like share subscribe all that good stuff man comments give me some feedback um so yeah uh it was kind of you know early on it was kind of head scratching I was uh on uh Twitter I mean X and you know just saying you know a lot of Bucky fans were a little upset about the vanilla but you kind of expected that they wasn't going to show too much uh and uh it played out maybe we could had a better first half I think we're kind of threw the Rhythm off for maybe like the first quarter was that first drive we got the ball every everybody excited to see this this offense with Will hard and like we got it going trayon got a good run and then that screen play for Jeremiah it would have been a big play it looked like I mean you could drive a whole U 16 wheeler through the hole the offensive line was blocking and he dropped it and it kind of you know what I mean it was one of those things where it was uh a climax was about to happen and it didn't live up to it so but I think that kind of you know let the air out the the stadium a little bit everybody became a little flat after that but I thought they turned it on more so in the second half but first half was a little little slow but to me I expect that you know I mean I expect stuff like that I know you want the team to go out there and you know I know early on you you compare your teams to the best team so you want to them look like Georgia or look like Oregon or some of the good team especially if if Michigan looks good but it's the first game man it's it's l the first game calm down relax you know was going to be you know Aran was going to throw all these different variations you know I mean obviously we were playing a big game we would be fully committed to open him the Playbook and get everything operational but uh will hard man let's dive into that off that all the offense we hard man I told you I I thought that pickup was good now yes it was against akan but man he made some big time throws he looked confident he got a big arm that uh that boot pass to Mecca man that was a beautiful throw the D ball to Jeremiah Was Beautiful I mean it was he he looked really good and we didn't even got to like the the quarterback run you know what I mean like that's a part of his game that he only I think he he ran for like 19 yards uh on a play so I think he's going he he looked good man I think Buckeye fans should be uh very impressed uh with how everything was going with Will Howard um he looked good to me I like what I saw um so yeah I'm I'm thrilled man I think he's going to have a big season you know the practice in games are two different things you know people think that you can have a great practice and you know and you playing against your teammates and you look good but when you get into that game it's different you know I call him Gamers can we be Gamers and um he was as advertised for a person who never played in uh the Horseshoe um and he's really thrown to a lot of young receivers you know other than a Mecca uh Andis hasn't played a lot of football Tate hasn't played a lot of football and Jeremiah is a true freshman so we and even like the one like like Bryson roggers and they're all young receivers so it's going to take them a time to get used to everything but man I like what I saw from how I think he threw for about maybe a buck 80 two touchdowns no interceptions I don't think he got sacked uh it was all in all I like the performance man it's a to me so far as upgrade from K MCO you know now obviously once again I know we won't get he won't get measured until he faces you know Iowa Oregon play people like that but I like what I saw um a position that maybe had you had my head scratching was offensive line man I thought they would look a lot better now Donovan didn't play so I will say that Donovan didn't play and we had uh surville I think that was his last name he was a first year start first first time starting also once again practicing games are two different things people throwing different variations line might not be lining up in the way you plan for so you have to adjust so it takes a little while but um wasn't I don't know I just I thought they had some good runs the running backs look good I mean I thought it wasn't like the stuff that you heard during fall camp and summer camp I thought they would look a lot better I thought Simmons were was not that good Pat uh rushing Russian uh pass blocking I thought Josh Fri was didn't look that good either you know what I mean uh I don't know I mean I'mma give it you know but akan does have a solid defense but you should be able to when you need to get a few yards you know push them back I just didn't see no push I didn't see no push man I don't know what's going on with with the line but I'm G give him a break this first game but I wasn't impressed I'm not even going to lie I thought the old line was underwhelming hopeful we can get some fight fire backing those guys pass blocking was was okay you know they let a couple leaks out and uh will Howard had to move a little bit and create some space but uh pass running the ball I didn't I didn't like what I saw from the offensive line we were not getting keeping our pass low we were not getting to the second level and that's once again it's not about the offense we know what the offense is going to do we know what the defense is capable of it's about can offensive line hold up against talented Elite defensive line that's the difference if they can the team will win they will win at all I there no question in my mind if they don't then they're going to lose you know you got to be able to run the ball like Georgia pretty much shut Clemson down like they could not run the ball and that's what good defensive linemen do they're gonna shut the and make you pass and that's what and if you can't pass it then it's going to be a long day for you and we that's what Clemson pretty much you know they couldn't they couldn't run it so they in pass game and they don't have the talented receivers uh to to Really you know get open and make Georgia really work you know so this just one of those things where we have to start you know pushing people even Michigan I mean Michigan dine is just as good as Georgia you got to be able to run the ball man I know and I know they're good the Ohio State offens Line will be will be okay there's no doubt in my mind I've seen them push push people around even when we played Georgia uh with CJ stra and we we ran the ball good enough against them we always run the ball good against Michigan when we play them like I know they would show some heart I know they they're better than what they showed they just have to do it week in and week out you know what I mean but um still you know question mark on that uh running backs look good traon looks fast explosive junkins man that that dude is man I'm I'm sorry uh quinan junkins I maybe I didn't watch enough Old Miss but man that dude is dangerous man you can just see the explos and his feet are so quick and he's very Twitchy and man that dude is going to have a good good year too man we we got man this team is loaded this team is loaded man Trevon looked really good fast and explosive I like that getting him out on a couple swing passes getting them out on that open field on those edges uh but quinan junkins it's like he's always falling forward and no one person can take him down that's the difference between him and trevan right now like you can't take him down one person you have to gain tackle him or he's going to keep dagging you he runs hard he's explosive man that that's a heck of a onew punch man it really is but uh but yeah I'm excited to see that uh receivers are receivers they look young you know they they did they look young to me they look like whoa this is different you know what I mean this is the this is real I I'm not behind uh a Marv and a Mecca anymore you know and like this this is the real deal and they shows they showed a little bit I think the first drive like like Jeremiah dropped the pass uh then uh Carell Tay on the sideline got hit out his hand being being lazy with the ball with uh High pointing the ball so they show the age uh but they they will get better too and that's the scary part like when you're a young player if you ever play sports and you know you may be playing up or whatever it might be when you get to like game three or four and you start to like really get a good Rhythm and you know what to play in the physicality man they're going going to be really good all those receivers are going to be good I'm I'm not worried about the receiver play continue this blocking on the edge but uh I think and I think they're gonna be all right uh Jeremiah had a had a great day man you know two touchdowns lot of nice catches he he is man he's gonna be really good man goly that kid is gonna be really good uh he's GNA make some mistakes throughout the year because he's young but for him to be out there just playing high school last year to I mean he today today is akan man he looked like the best receiver as a true freshman you know what we've been hearing off fall camp and summer camp he looks as advertised he looks really good and you know Carell looks explosive that touchdown he got I mean it was that that curl route boom and how he just can take off yard after catch that's something that Ohio State receivers we got to do more of man he looks really good and then you know the leader of the bunch we didn't even really you know he didn't really need to we know what AA is we know what he's going to be we know we going to need him to stay healthy throughout the season he's going to have a workload but a Mecca looks like a Mecca there's no qu no doubt about that Bryson Rogers got in there a little bit um and has got there a little bit so they're young and talented but uh receivers they're going to be okay you know we GNA spread the ball around everybody gonna be able to eat and that's what uh that's what this offense is capable of you know I think once we get going these next few games and especially when we get in a big 10 play I think it's going to be running on allall cylinders and like I said the offense looked really vanilla we didn't do do too much of anything no uh exotic uh formations no quarterback runs uh everything was pretty much uh you know Zone reads rpos uh curl routes deep post like it was very simple and vanilla you know what I mean it wasn't nothing crazy just from my eyes I'm not saying maybe somebody who knows more football can say it was but for my eyes it looked pretty vanilla to me so uh but all in all man I I thought the offense played really good other than that like the first halfish first quarter I'll say but I thought they look good you know I think we go as far as offensive line and I thought sometimes our offensive line didn't play up to their potential and sometimes you had at the first game and you know they're new too you know we had a Doan wasn't there so you put a new guy in there we had a new center uh but uh so just got to get some continuity that's all about finding the Rhythm like I said game three or four they're G to have it um so everything was good to to me to me it was uh offense other than offensive linan I didn't like what I saw at times but give him some time be patient with these guys man be patient uh now going over to the defense I mean defense is the defense you know Jim no W goingon to do nothing crazy I think he sent a couple blitzes with the middle linebacker I saw CJ Hicks getting there a little bit uh Sunny looked really good man I'm interested to see how Cody Simon looks when he comes back thought CJ CJ Hicks pretty good though D line was a d line you know was nothing too crazy I think sometimes it's you know hate to say this but human nature sometimes you do play down to your competition and I'm not saying what they that's what they did but I didn't see a presence from from tit Le like that I wanted to or uh Jack Sawyer you know but they will they'll show up um secondary looks lights out secondary looks really good couple M tackles from Caleb DS though I will say that couple missed tackles uh but I'm I'm not worried about the defense one bit that secondary we got an interception and we got a touchdown so and that's if you saw my first video uh regarding this season I said the defense needs to get more turnovers last year as good as we were we didn't get a lot of turnovers and I think they said the stat on the uh on the on the uh TV copy that we only had like maybe 14 I don't think it was that it was like five interceptions four fumbles or something like that I like man we got to get more we're too talented we're our secondary is too good uh we got to get some more turnovers so and that's the next step for this defense in my opinion get some more sacks cause a little bit more havoc in the back field and get more turnovers with this secondary but uh they didn't start out good either like right they they back Marsh down and they was missing tackles and Osa almost got a targeting call it was just like I don't know I don't know if it was too much height uh I don't know if it was lack of focus uh but I think I know if they were too relaxed but they they put it together I think the defense is maybe the the less of my worries with this team I think Jim NOS has done a remarkable job I think we got Pro Talent now it's just about Shing up those missed tackles uh being a little bit more disciplined a couple eyes in the back field especially my secondary you know all my secondary guys we always play the pass first you know I was a corner so that's that's my my favorite position on the field so I'm I'm always watching my my secondary but uh leam looked really good he looked explosive he got a touchdown today but he's just leam is just his story is going to be great right you you want certain guys to win you know what I mean like you want you want him to accomplish a kid who you know played young had some Growing Pains uh then he got hurt against uh Utah then he came back and was lights out uh then he got hurt again last year so you R for guys like Leon man he is really good he is really talented he just has to stay focused stay locked in do his job um then zil got an interception you know like I said man their defense is going to be right and then just before the game was pretty much over gay Powers got another defensive turnover so that's that's two interceptions and two defensive touchdowns that's a start yes it is Aron but it's a start man you got to start somewhere I always say that you got to start somewhere especially when it comes to football it's a start and that's what we like to see man uh so but defense was good uh I didn't even check the final score excuse me I'm going to check the final score I think it was like 516 something of that nature I don't have my other screen up there right now uh 526 so yeah so that was the last touchdown man Miami got busy on Florida wow uh so yeah you know it was a good it was good it was good but that's all I really have man um first game man I'm excited like I said man season man football season I'mma go back and have me some dinner and go watch another Dame and Tex in that should be another good game so but all in all man I get his performance like a B minus I think it was too it wouldn't I mean B+ I get a B+ you know you did what you supposed to do we knew it was going to beat akan did they cover 52 no I don't think they covered no way almost though but uh but I thought it was I it was very vanilla game wasn't too crazy I give like a B plus offensive line was really you know should have did a lot better but I'm happy man move on like everybody got healthy stayed healthy that's my biggest fear with this team especially early in these games because usually we have like that big game like last two years was Notre Dame uh then Co but we had Oregon one year and then we had TCU so then before that you know Urban was there we had Oklahoma backto back so Ohio State usually uh they usually play like a big time matchup you know we never feel like we never you know shy away from that this year is kind of really you know I think we got Western Michigan and then we have uh I want to say Marshall I'm not mistaken so you know once again we're probably going to be favored in those even though Western michan I think they they played Wisconsin really hard man they really was had a lot of effort but like I said B+ for this performance will hard you get a a for me definitely you play good Jeremiah of course defense huh late them for sure but they we can be better but we'll sh it up first game if you know anything about uh football or any sport that game one to two is you play so much better because you're able to watch film and you able to go back and see and correct some things then you able to have a good practice so that's that's the beauty of all this you know we game one and game two you'll be better and you'll just stack good days stack good days and I think that's what this team again got to enjoy the journey you know Bucky fans enjoy the journey you know it's just one game game one we not we're not looking towards a championship we have to stay right here in the moment and right now all the only thing we got we we one and0 so but that's all I have today uh Bucky
