Thanks for joining us tonight. There was a celebration during this Long Labor Day weekend that ended in tragedy. Last night, two people are dead. Four others have been injured after a car plowed into the patio of Park Tavern in Saint Louis Park on Sunday night. The people that were there say as many as 30 people were on the patio having a good time when a driver crashed into them. That is a 56 year old man. He is in jail on probable cause. Criminal vehicular homicide could be charged by tomorrow, whether you work at a restaurant or just enjoy going to those in your community. The community shared there, you know, it's tough to beat, especially at a place like Park tavern. It's synonymous with Saint Louis Park. It's been around for 60 years and Morgan Wolf shares how workers and all the people who go there are handling this. What has been a place that has so many happy memories for people is now sitting here in heartbreak, dozens and dozens of community members bringing flowers to this memorial where you'll see scrubs and a server apron to memorialize those who lost their lives. It's such a frequent spot for everyone in the, in the area that it's just, uh, it really is a community and a home. Really. What you see on the outside is a restaurant and a bar. But on the inside is a family park tavern is part of the fabric ST Louis Park. My dad started the original one in 1957 when the owner Phil Weber got the call that a car drove into the park, tavern patio and killed two people and injured four others. It didn't feel real. It still, it's just unbelievable, unbelievable. Then when he found out that one of the victims was a second generation employee. It hurt even more. Christina Foer's time at the taf began here in her mom's belly. Fellow servers say that they used to babysit her here so that her mom could work. Then her mom passed away when Christina was 14 and I keep accusing her of being like her mother because she, she's her mother and that was more issues with her mother. She recreated that photo of her mom last year. When she was pregnant, she leaves behind not just one baby but three girls, ages 1 to 7 years old. I feel helpless and I'm so devastated to wake up to this. The other family involved here is Methodist Hospital. A group of nurses were gathered here to celebrate a fellow co worker. These are wonderful people, colleague, sitting money in it and I praised for their wealthy. We four nurses were injured and one killed. That victim worked with Mary mcgibbon. He had of my body and la disal bent gates, entire tracks overshadowed right now with flowers and love. We've got such a loyal generational following here that um I know their thoughts are with us and that's really all I need to just give you an example of how close the two families. Park Tavern and Methodist Hospital are. The first ever Park Tavern Bowling League was a group from Methodist Hospital and Park Tavern donates weekly mills, weekly meals, excuse me to Methodist. And that started during the COVID pandemic. Also within the last 10 minutes, we have confirmed through sources. The man from Methodist who died is Gabe Harvey. There have been gofundmes created for all of the victims and survivors. You can find links to all that we have on carole.com.
