Can Puka Nacua deliver on 2024 fantasy projections? | Fantasy Football Happy Hour | NFL on NBC

let's close out the top 12 looking at your top 12 wide receivers here Matthew and a lot of these guys appeared in the rankings that we did yesterday CD lamb at number one number two Tyreek Hill three Jamar Chase four Justin Jefferson we talked about that being a bit of a cluster and you can take them in any order how you prefer uh number five last year's very successful Rider die mon Ros St Brown six AJ Brown seven Garrett Wilson eight puka nakua nine the rookie and Marvin Harrison Jr 10 Drake London who for the first time in his career should have some consistency under center with Kirk Cousins number 11 Nico Collins one of three very draftable Texans wide receivers in fantasy and 12 Chris alve let's jump out of that cluster and look at AJ Brown at wide receiver 6 here Matthew are we starting to underrate his consistency a little bit a guy that for most of last season seemed to take over in this Eagles passing offense yeah yeah I mean obviously career highs and targets and receptions last year I think you hit the a nail on the head there Connor it's the consistency right he had at least 14 fantasy points in 75% of his games 12 of the 16 games AJ Brown played last year he had at least 14 points so just week in week out that kind of high level consistency from a wide receiver you don't really see and you didn't really expect it from AJ Brown considering you know the Eagles were pretty run heavy the year before you've got Devonte Smith you've got Dallas GD there as well Jaylen Herz is always a threat to duck it under his arm and run so the consistency the high level consistency of AJ Brown is what's so exciting for me from a fantasy perspective and again we expect the Eagles especially under Kell Moore to be one of the better offenses in the NFL this year Jay we've talked a lot already about puka nakua and Cooper Cup and the difference in ADP with puka there's no denying how special of a rookie season it was now his games without Cooper cup playing he averaged more than eight more points per game like a giant difference for puka AA he was dominant without cup he was very good with cup are we starting to you know or notice that maybe this skewed his production too much or do you kind of fix in hey Cooper cup doesn't play a full season so it doesn't matter no I'm very concerned about uh the co-star of my Twitter profile picture in puka nura um so here's the thing with puka the last 10 games of the Season he got more than five receptions once once in the final 10 games and he's going as the top eight wide receiver I think there is a very good chance that Cooper cup just has a better year than puka deura um full stop and Pug's dealing with a minor injury at the moment doesn't seem like a big deal but I'd be very concerned I just don't think that we can just dismiss Cooper cup and I think the 2021 guy who had the greatest wide receiver season of all time arguably perhaps we're not getting that version of cup but I think we're getting a better version and when we saw puker alongside cup even with how much the Rams threw the ball he just wasn't getting a ton of volume and those first four weeks they seriously skew the SC stats like just the first two weeks he had 35 targets and 25 receptions after after that his production was largely dependent on these long plays which just aren't super sustainable he has an 80 yard reception against the Giants in the penultimate week of the Season he has a 70 y against Cleveland so I just be a little bit worried also with the way that he plays Connor like he is one of the most physical wide receivers you'll ever see so uh and he he got through all of last year but there was that injury concern that he had against Cleveland so as much as we worry about cooperar and the soft tissue stuff I don't think puka Nur is like the safest wide receiver just the way that he playes what do you think Matthew well I think that if I'm pukin aou and I've been sitting there on his Twitter profile with Jay Croucher in this you know false photo where he cut all of us out Connor he cut me and you out and then I hear him trashing me on National Television I'm pretty upset if I'm puking AA to be honest with you it's it's the kind of you know Shifty sort of stuff that Jay gun is known for but honestly um yeah very Shifty he's a Shifty Australian everyone knows that you know like you know it's uh It's upsetting if I'm puking at Kua uh but I don't think his point I don't think his point is wrong uh you know sometimes sometimes you know the Shifty guys make good points which is like you know it just such a massive difference right 23.9 points per game in the four games without Cooper cup 15.5 in the 11 full games with Cooper cup that's an eighto swing and that's a pretty big difference I've said this before I'll say it again look obviously I have AA where I have right because I do think while there's there's there is injury concern with Nika it's not as much as with COA cup second year in the league for pukaa that players always take a big leap from year one to year two so I have him ranked higher than cup but at Cost I prefer Cooper Cup this year to puka AA all right we move down to wide receiver 12 on this list that's Chris alve now some change here Matthew new offensive system should help alive no thoughts of Michael Thomas in the background into this at all maybe a little bit more Comfort now in New Orleans for Derek Carr how much will Al benefit from a new offense Well it can't hurt I mean you know that's um uh that's for sure it's interesting Jay's fasination with Saints wide receivers and yet Oli is the one that he continues to ignore I think you mentioned Clint kubak uh you know coming over from San Francisco where he was the passing game coordinator they they just use a lot of motion which you know Pete car never really did so I think he will he will come in and say okay we got to get a on the Move we've got to create mismatches for our best wide receiver our best offensive threat obviously remember um this is somebody who's had over 25% Target share both of his NFL seasons he's got 19 career games with seven or more targets he averages 16.1 fantasy points per game the talent on ove is significant Derek is Derek Car the greatest quarterback no but I don't think he's any worse than Baker Mayfield right you know I mean again we saw Devonte Adams have a big year with Derek Carr we've seen um Baker Mayfield you know Mike Evans have a big year with Baker Mayfield do I think that Chris can have a big fantasy year with Derek Carson's quarterback absolutely do and I do think Clint kubak um being there will open that up they have to so he comes in at 12 for me Jay looking at those 12 wide receivers again and we'll pull them up in just a second which one are you most nervous to draft because it's weird you have the the cluster of the top four and then you kind of have this weird tier where maybe mon Brown is just in his own tier you have an upside guy like Garrett Wilson and Marvin Harrison Jr obviously an upside guy he's never played in the NFL yet is there a guy on this list that you're like man I get it the ranking but there's also significant risk at play yeah at Cost relative to cost the guy i' be most nervous about is actually AJ Brown and know we talking about him as a picture of consistency but I just very worried about how last year ended the fact that final nine games of the season when they were down and they had to throw because they were losing games he topped 95 yards once after he had that awesome stretch to start the season uh with Squan in the mix maybe there's more Ms to feed in Philadelphia too so look I think AJ Brown is fine uh he will get a lot of targets but just at Cost going as wide receiver six like some people might be taking him over a monr St Brown like I think they're pretty far apart and just straight up I'd rather have Garrett Wilson than AJ Brown Matthew who on that list for you yeah I mean I think that that I'm most nervous for that's a good question that I let me think about this I guess I guess pukaa honestly for me is the guy that I'm most nervous for again just for all the reasons we just talked about that you know that there's um that you know that now offenses that now defense coordinators with a year to prepare for the Rams are aware of it that you know we saw Demarcus Robinson come on towards the end of last year as well and so um you know uh you know if Cooper cup is back to being Cooper cup just like n is very very talented but if he produces closer to the 15.5 that he had with cup versus the 23.9 that he had without cup then you know maybe he should have gone later in the draft so I guess n would be my my answer there hey it's
