involving the nonprofit feeding our future the scam created fake attendance rosters and falsified invoices to siphon relief funds meant for feeding children during the pandemic representative Virginia Fox chair with of the education and Workforce committee has issued subpoenas to Wall's Administration and the US Department of Agriculture Fox's letter accused walls and his administration of insufficiently addressing this massive fraud despite multiple requests walls has not provided a satisfactory response notably at least 70 defendants have been charged in the scheme with 18 pleading guilty walls currently kamla Harris's running mate has had past controversies including a 1995 DUI arrest [Music] the United States Supreme Court has declined to reinstate $4 million in federal Family Planning funds for Oklahoma due to the state's refusal to use the money for elective abortions in a brief order released Tuesday justices Clarence Thomas Samuel Alo and Neil Gorsuch would have granted the application for an injunction but were outvoted the dispute stems from Oklahoma's challenge to a federal provision requiring title 10 funds to include abortion counseling and referrals which it rejected leading the US Department of Health and Human services to terminate the state's Grant legal expert Amy how explained quote HHS offered the state an alternative when Oklahoma rejected that option HHS terminated the state's Grant the district and appet courts upheld this decision against Oklahoma in Nashville Tennessee a year after the tragic shooting that claimed six lives at Covenant School the full 90-page Manifesto of the shooter Audrey hail has been released by the Tennessee star the 28-year-old former student who had identified as transgender had meticulously planned the attack the Metro Nashville Police initially advised by the FBI to keep the document confidential released it despite concerns it could Inspire future Shooters the manifesto reveals hail's deep-seated resentments sexual fantasies and admiration for other Mass murderers she expressed anger at her parents and Christianity for not accepting her gender identity the document also discusses her sexual frustrations and Suicidal Thoughts shedding light on her troubled State prior to the attack [Music] in a unanimous decision the 9th us Circuit Court of Appeals upheld the religious exemption for Christian colleges under Title 9 maintaining their Federal funding despite their biblical views on LGBT issues circuit George judge Miland D Smith Jr stated quote there is a continuous century-long practice of governmental accommodations for religion that the Supreme Court and our court have repeatedly accepted the council for Christian colleges and universities celebrated the ruling while the religious exemption accountability project behind the lawsuit vowed to continue their fight lead plaintiff Elizabeth Hunter a former student of Bob Jones University alleged harassment due to her sexual orientation US District Judge Anne Akin had earlier ruled against the plaintiffs citing insufficient evidence of discriminatory intent behind the religious exemption in a recent lawsuit six major US Publishers including penguin randomhouse and Harper Collins along with authors such as Julia Alvarez and jod pult have challenged Florida's removal of explicit books from public school libraries citing First Amendment violations the lawsuit targets Florida officials including those on the Florida State Board of Education and school boards in Orange and valusa counties the contentious House Bill 1069 signed by Governor Ronda santis in 2023 has led to the removal of books by Maya Angelou Ernest Hemingway and others State officials including Florida Department of education's Natalia Medina maintain that quote sexually explicit material and instruction are not suitable for Schools parent Judith Anne Hayes and author Stephen King have voiced strong opposition arguing the removals are overly Broad and unjust despite ongoing declines in worship service attendance churches are maintaining fiscal Health due to increased donations from remaining attendees according to a study by the Hartford Institute for religion research the report finances and Faith a look at Financial Health among congregations in the post-pandemic reality found that congregational income in 2023 was the highest in 15 years with a median of $165,000 despite the lowest average worship attendance recorded LifeWay research notes fewer than 50% of Americans hold formal Church
