two wisconsinites have died and one is in the hospital tonight because of westnile virus the state department of health services says these cases came out of Fondulac adami and brown counties but those aren't the only places we are seeing the virus Chloe morrisy has you covered on where mosquitoes have tested positive in our area and how you can stay safe The Rock County Health Department previously announced that mosquitoes in the county have tested positive for West now virus since people have now died from the virus elsewhere in Wisconsin I spoke with The Rock County Health offical about this to help you stay proactive a Rock County Health official sent me guidance on staying ahead of the virus the two main pieces of advice are to take precautions to avoid mosquito bites and to Mosquito proof your home they say you should use insect repellent with de picaridin lemon eucalyptus oil or ir3535 avoid outdoor activities in early mornings or evening hours and wear long sleeves long pants and socks when you're outdoors and at home trimmer MO call grass weeds and Vines turn over wheelbarrows kidy pools buckets or canoes when you're not using them and emptying water that has collected a point that a department of health services officials reinforced rain gutters or you know pots and you know flower pots and whatnot that collect water and sit there stagnant water in particular that is filled with a lot of organic material that gets real dirty and stinky is perfect breeding habitat for these mosquitoes though raw county has reported having mosquitoes infected with West Nile so far this year the only reported cases of the virus in humans are in northeastern Wisconsin again remember to use proper protection against mosquitoes if you plan on being outside this Labor Day weekend reporting in Madison Chloe morrisy 27 news
