so it's not really news that PlayStation's Concord is complete failure if you haven't been paying attention the game has only sold 25,000 copies that's right 25,000 copies I think at times the servers only had 400 players playing at the same time it hasn't been good it turns out that when everyone saw this and went nobody wants this game nobody wanted it and now the craziest thing has happened um they're shutting down the servers and they're refunding people for purchasing the game I am not kidding you this is coming straight from PlayStation where they say this in an article that I've linked down below so this is a quote from PlayStation Concord fans we've been listening closely to your feedback since the launch of Concord on PS5 and PC and want to thank everyone who has joined the journey aboard the Northstar with which is nobody nobody's joined the journey um your support and the passion of this community that has grown around this game has meant the world to us however while many qualities of the experience resonated with players we also recognize that other aspects of the game maybe a $40 price tag and boring gameplay uh and our initial launch didn't land the way we intended therefore at this time we have decided to take the game offline beginning September 6 2024 and explore other options including those that will better reach our players while we determine the best path ahead Concord sales will will cease immediately and we will begin to offer full refunds for all Gamers who have purchased the game for PS5 and PC if you purchase the game for PS5 from the PlayStation store or Playstation direct a refund will be issued back to your original payment method that's where I'm going to end quote what what so Concord has been cancelled um they say they're going to look at other options and maybe open the servers later on but for now the servers have been pulled if you purchased the game you cannot play the game it's done if you bought the game you have your money refunded I would be shocked if we see The Return of Concord if we do see it it's got to be free with lots of microtransactions but man uh I mean I knew it was dismal but this is pretty pathetic the game has not been out for very long and the servers are already down and nobody's surprised and for me I'm a giant fan of the last of us if you're familiar with my channel this isn't a shock and watching this has been the most frustrating thing I have experienced in a while that if you don't know the story that ever since the last of Us Part Two was in development naughty dog was working on factions 2o if you don't know what factions is it was the multiplayer for The Last of Us it was in the first game it has a strong community base of people who love it and they were making a sequel to it and they decided to expand it that Sony really wanted to push online games as a service kind of stuff and they had different things in the works for that but they really wanted their major Studios making these kind of Concord games these OverWatch games these fortnite like games where you could create an online game that people could play continuously now I have played the factions original since the beginning I returned to it at least probably once a week and so I'm not really sure I need a games as a service version the original game was enough for me but I digress they did it naughty dog was working on this factions 2o um when Sony said they wanted these kind of games as a service thing they went okay well we'll work on this we'll make this bigger we're going to give it its own story it probably would have had Seasons it was going to follow the group that Abby from the second game um eventually ran into at the end of the game where that firefly group you were going to follow what happened to them it seemed really interesting and they said that they were really being bold introducing all these different mechanics and it was going to be um in their words one of the best most fun multiplayer games that's ever existed that's what people said he worked on the game after it got canned that it was one of the greatest multiplayer games that they've ever witnessed and of course that game got cancelled then it got announced we saw some concept art they were saying hey we're going to let you know more in a year and a year came by and Sony pulled the plug why did they pull the plug naughty dog will say well it's because we didn't really believe in it we wanted to focus on single player games and we didn't fully realize that if we did this we'd have to be creating seasons for several years baloney you make a live service game you know that you're going to be making seasons for years that's not why that insiders say that PlayStation hired um some other game companies specifically Bungie to look at their projects and bu looked at factions ah people aren't really going to be interested in this I don't know how you're going to keep players paying money for a long amount of time uh you should probably scrap this and so Sony told Naughty Dog you're done your funding's over cancel this game move on to your next single player experience and people who are fans of factions who had been promised that this was coming since the announcement of The Last of Us Part two were incredibly disappointed that s years of waiting turned into nothing that all of this hard work that naughty dog did turned into nothing all of these developers working on this game turned into nothing all because Bungie decided that PlayStation should shut it down now Bungie for some reason decided that Concord looked like an incredible game in fact PlayStation if you know the story about this game was so impressed with Concord that they bought the studio that PlayStation looked at this game and went this this game is so good it's going to be such a big hit that we're going to purchase this entire Studio literally for this game that is what happened and within just a few weeks the game is pulled and it's just frustrating to watch because I don't believe for a single second that whatever factions 2 was would have been what Concord was and to know that they pulled the plug on that but but spent all of this money expecting Concord to be this big hit when to every gamer out there this was an obvious ywn Fest is frustrating it's disappointing I've been kind of baffled by the whole thing and in all honesty like I feel sad for the developers I feel sad for people who really worked on this game and for people who are fans I'm sure they're out there haven't met any but I'm sure there's somebody who's a fan of this game um like I feel bad for that Community but to be honest it feels like Poetic Justice on my end to be like yep for you cancelling The Last of Us factions 2 because Bungie doesn't believe in it which I want to say Bungie isn't doing so well at their online player games I don't know why you brought them in as a consultant um but to pull the plug on that and all that hard work and then to see what you decided to buy an entire Studio over fail this on this magnitude feels like Poetic Justice um I don't think anybody's shocked and and yeah I just feel continually disappointed um but I don't know what you guys think head down in the comments section down below were you one of the 25,000 people playing this game did you get a refund do you think these servers are going to be coming back can you remember a game that's failed like at this magnitude like suicide squad didn't even do this badly it's pretty shocking um can you believe that factions 2 got canceled and this thing didn't I can't let me know your thoughts in the comment section down below like com subscribe all that junk and I will see you guys in the next one
