Partial closure of Sierra National Forest as Basin Fire grows in size with no containment

Intro the Basin fire north of Pine Flat Reservoir continues to burn with no containment now fire officials say people who like the outdoors may need to reschedule their plans for the 4th of July that's because part of the Sierra National Forest and campgrounds in the area are closed Fox 26 reporter sopia Leos just returned from the fire she's here to give us the latest details Sophia Rich The Basin fire is currently Basin Fire burning nearly 12,000 Acres Crews say they doing everything they can to control the flames and fire has quickly spread burning thousands of acres in just a few days fire Crews say with the heat wave coming up they're worried it's going to continue burning with that our fields are going to dry dry out we will expect to see um a little more aggressive fire Behavior the US Forest Service has closed part of Sierra National Forest and many are under an evacuation order for their own safety they might not be supported they may lose electricity they may lose their uh utilities fire may run on their house and and cut off their escape partial closure of Sierra National Forest will last through July 30th so that means vacationers who plan to camp in the area for 4th of July might want to reschedule their trip just as a reminder if you're camping for the holiday don't light up fireworks in the forest I know people love Fireworks go to the professional shows attend the professional shows um but don't bring fireworks into the forest Mandatory Evacuations righto Fresno County has issued mandatory evacuation orders for this area right here I do want to point out that evacuations have been made for four different regions they are near the dinky Creek area Balch Camp there is near the Patterson Mountain Area Sawmill flat and Smith Meadow if you can see this red solid line right here that is all trimmer Springs Road which is closed at Maxon Road and Beyond and evacuation wordings have been made for other two areas right here that is just right above Pine Flat Reservoir Rich all right Sophia people who ignore the closure order for Sierra National Forest can face a fine of up to $10,000 hi I'm Monty Torres with fox26 news on YouTube thank you for checking out our YouTube channel where we have loads of great content for you to choose from and while you're here why not click on the Subscribe button right here that way you can stay in touch with all the latest breaking news everything news related within the Central Valley and thank you for watching
