e e e Amen in Ephesians chapter number one and we'll start reading in verse number 15 Ephesians 1 verse number 15 wherefore I I also after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and love unto all the saints cease not to give thanks for you making mention of you in my prayers that the god of our Lord Jesus Christ the father of Glory may give you the spirit of wisdom and Revelation and the knowledge of him the eyes of your understanding being enlightened that you may know what is the hope of his calling and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the Saints and what is the exceeding greatness of his power to usw who believe according to the working of his mighty power which he wrought in Christ when he raised him from the dead and set him at his own right hand in in the Heavenly places far above all principality and power and might and dominion and every name that is named not only in this world but also in the world and that which is to come and hath put all things under his feet and gave him to be the head over all things to the church which is his body the fullness of him that filth all in all we've been studying on the past uh I don't know six or seven weeks roughly about trying the spirits in first John chapter 4 beloved try the spirits whether they be of God because many false prophets have went out Among Us certainly that is the case and I'm sure it will continue to be the case until the Lord just puts stop to it and he will one day and uh but we studied last week about the the spirit of of lying lies talked about where it started at with uh Satan and where it when it ended up and how that he's the one that started it but God's when it stopped it when he throwed him into the pit in the Book of Revelation thank God that'll be a glorious day but I want to speak to you tonight in a little bit somewhat of a Twist once I get through sneezing I wait till I move my handkerchief and then I'll have sneeze but anyway in verse number 17 let's read it one more time that the god of our Lord Jesus Christ the father of Glory may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and Revelation in the knowledge of him I want to speak to you tonight about in trying the spirits the spirit of wisdom I understand that in the other studies we've studied that that more in reference to a a guidance or something and this is somewhat that but that wisdom is something that basically has to be given or take time to uh gain or or to work out so to speak it means to discern inner qualities of something that maybe somebody else wouldn't see it means Insight it means good sense if you will and uh maybe it could be stated as a wise attitude another other words somebody that kind of has an understanding of the real world and you can listen around to a lot of people today that's in leadership and you'll find there's a lot of people that don't even have the spirit of wisdom in the worldly uh environment so to speak much less in the spiritual environment but when we understand that you understand that wisdom in this text that it is coming from a knowledge that we have of him in other words all wisdom is based upon a certain knowledge you can have a lot of knowledge and not have the ability to do nothing with it but when wisdom comes along wisdom takes that information and directs it to make it more shall we say usable when you understand this it this phrase Spirit of wisdom is only found four places in your Bible and in that we find it in those four places that in all four places it is in reference to a better understanding of the Lord it starts out in the book of f uh Exodus when Aon is becoming the priest and the Bible said that he had a spirit of wisdom that the lord gave him the lord gave him a spirit of wisdom to be the priest to go before the Lord and deuteron Deuteronomy I can't talk tonight in reference to Joshua and the Bible said about Joshua that he had a spirit of wisdom certainly he did but where would you find Joshua all the time he was at the Tabernacle he went in you don't find hardly any place where he comes out he stayed there in Isaiah 11 you find it about the Lord himself being that Spirit of wisdom and certainly he was and then here in Ephesians 1 you find for our learning the wisdom relating to us in verse number 17 that he said he may latter part said may give unto you the Spirit of wisdom now there's a lot of folks that knows a little about the word and can quote scripture and different things maybe Church procedures and stuff but have no wisdom about them at all and that's like I said that's not something that that you just get immediately but all I'm saying is what is this Spirit of wisdom let's just go straight to the end and say in summary it's be summarized in one thing knowing more about him making us understand more about what he did for us and what he's doing for us the Bible said in verse 15 and 16 that this wisdom that was Paul was praying for for these Ephesians was uh he was praying that they might receive that wisdom why was that Paul was a man that had a lot of wisdom he had a lot of knowledge but he took that knowledge and said it's just d as it is but when he got wisdom then he started learning about the Lord Jesus and he was saying in effect I want them to have the wisdom that under makes them understand and see how wonderful the Lord is that's what he said when he he said I prayed for him verse 15 and 16 he was praying to that very end in verse 17 that where he said that specifically this was the exact thing that he wanted them to have the spirit of wisdom if you get somebody that is settled on the spirit of wisdom you'll have somebody that is settled on who Christ is I saw Dr lilus is funeral online today yesterday excuse me and that the thing that everybody was saying about doc was the fact that no matter what he taught no matter how and whenever he was called to preach he always magnified and gave you some depth that you didn't have before of the Lord Jesus that man was full of wisdom and therefore he was easy to listen to because he brought you closer to understanding who the Lord is in verse number 17 the word says that the Lord or teaches that the Lord gives it look at what it says that the god of our Lord Jesus Christ the father of Glory may give unto you the spirit of wisdom so it don't come from just training it comes from a revelation of God I'm talking about a revelation through the word of course how did you get uh convicted of your sin you might have known the words you might have known scripture but you did not have that conviction until God brought conviction on your soul verse 17 says the same thing only on the other side of it when God teaches you brings you closer to him and into the word the word is unfolding and you are gaining wisdom when you start seeing more and more and more of him Paul Paul said I forget where it was exactly I um anyway he said that I might know him and the fellowship of his suffering being made conformable unto his death and at that time he was already saved about 30 years how could he not know him what Paul was saying was I wanted to know more as that old song I want to know more I want to know more about my Jesus and the wisdom of God will always bring you as it says and Revelation in the knowledge of H IIM him see when the wisdom of God comes around it don't talk about our programs and our procedures it don't talk about the things that we did it talks about the things he did that's the reason I know a lot of people don't have much wisdom of God cuz they never talk about what he did just mentioned his name is it some like a magic Elixir or something in verse number 18 scripture says the eyes of your understanding being enlightened or that you have had the light to come in or that you have been born again and when you think about that the scripture here seems to say it it says it in a in a descriptive way but you got to stop slow down and listen for a minute the eyes of your understanding being enlightened if I were to take my and shut my eyes tonight I would not see any of this thing any of you in here any of these lights or anything in here that my eyes are seeing or would see if they were open but the Bible says the eyes of your under understanding being enlightened in other words the eyes that we have gave us information for our brain to process as we walked across the floor we didn't run into the Pew we didn't uh run into the wall we knew to open the door when we saw the door that was closed because our eyes gave us Enlightenment to the brain and as the eyes are to the flesh I want to say this Spirit of wisdom is to the soul it opens up what we can't see it's as if a person's a person's loss of course has no vision but the Bible says in 2 Corinthians chapter 4 if a gospel be hid it's hided then their lost who the God of this world had blinded their eyes and lest the light of the Glorious gospel should shine unto them that's not a daylight Shine the Light of the Glorious gospel that is this Enlightenment here in the beginning stages and so we find that when we see what happens what God's referenced here for us the brain the the brain receives the natural man the soul receives what God gives us through the enlightenment of the wisdom the spirit of wisdom that God gives us I hope you get that it's important because that's part of the main thing that Paul is saying he said that's what I want this to do number one I want you to be enlightened I don't want you in the dark I want you to understand I want you to realize how good this thing really is that we're in we're not just saved and okay well when I die I won't go to hell at least I'll go to heaven it's way more than that folks way more than that and next he want you to understand that more enlightening to The Riches of the glory of what he's saying look at it that you you may know understanding being enlightened that you may know what is the hope of his calling he said I want you to be illuminated but why so that you may know what is the hope of his calling in other words I think if I I don't believe I'm doing damage to this verse if I said it this way if you're not illuminated you don't know the hope of his calling you may know a little bit about about it but you know Sunday I was mentioning to you about DNA DNA was here all along remember and has been forever and all of a sudden we discover it we realize it was there but it was always there and when we see this right here talking about the hope of his calling and what God's done for us when that we have the spirit of wisdom it opens up and allows us to see deeper and more about the salvation that we have maybe comparing it to the DNA so when we see this he said and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the Saints in other words God's done left us something we're in the will and we in the wheel in a big way and uh we we don't understand it all let's just suppose for a minute that we had a light switch in here and we had all the lights off and we had one light switch in here that would turn on one light now we turn them on now they just all come on the same electricity that turns on the One turns on all these but if it's not turned on you'll only see the one it didn't mean there wasn't enough electricity it didn't mean that they weren't there because if you could do as scenario I just painted for you and then flip on the other switches all this other would come on and we would surely see more than we would if we only had one little light on that makes sense doesn't it and that's what the scripture is telling us here we get saved we just see as if one switch is turned on maybe that way we see a little light we see a glorious light and a wonderful thing but boy we hadn't even scratched the surface of it and when we see this the in that last part of Verse 18 and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the Saints he said I want you to be able to have the spirit of wisdom or shall I say it this way turn on some more light so you can see more of what you've got and he said in the fact of that being that way that means that Spirit of wisdom is doing one thing if you say well how do I know if it's the spirit of wisdom if it tells more about him what he did for us and our inheritance it's the spirit of wisdom folks and it's a wonderful thing and I want to say thank God for that because had it not been for that we'd be in big trouble and the Bible said the latter part of it and or excuse me verse number 19 it says and what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us word who believe according to the working of his mighty power it's restricted to those who believe those that are in the dark are lost they have no light no vision no way to recognize what Jesus has done for us or for them it's only for for those that believe and specifically in this context to those that have the spirit of wisdom and the scriptures not beaten around a bush a it's really clear it's not a one time let me put it another way I bought some fireworks one year I going out to Lake was going to have a fireworks thing out there I think it was 4th of July I don't know what it was I don't remember anyway I bought some bought them at Walmart mistake number one I thought man these things are cheap I didn't know how cheap till I let them and we went out there and I set them things down I said these big old things here they going to I wish i' have videoed it I lit it and the the the the fuse burning was bigger than the blast that it set off and it said it just fell over like 2 feet I mean and it was gone that's all it was it wasn't nothing left but you know you get a good one it goes on and it shoots here it goes way up there it shoots again and they pop again what I'm saying is the Salvation that he gave us is not a one trick pony maybe say it that way with respect but it keeps on giving and keeps on giving and keeps on making us have a Wonder ful life and a wonderful future and a wonderful eternity it's not a onetime thing we live it over and over every day and the better we understand that the better we understand him and the more we understand him the more we understand that and all and all it gives him the glory and that's a wonderful thing and he said what is the exceeding greatness verse 19 of his power to us word when he said it's exceeding he said it's above everything else but all of it is pointing back to him you see nowadays we get a lot of big noise going on in religious circles and it points back to a person a church a singing group a program or something that we see but we know that when it's really right it's going to point to him that's the wisdom the spirit of wisdom and the Bible say and by the way you say well how can he do that all at once because he's God again let's go back to the lights the same power that runs that little bitty light in that exit sign back there is the same power that runs that light right there and the same power that runs that is what runs the big old air conditioners at thank God same power but it's applied in different ways big old light little light little bit of comfort a lot of comfort but it's the same power and what God is saying is when I I'm showing you and give you the spirit of wisdom you'll see things different you won't just see this or this on its own but it's all things work together for good for them that love the Lord those that are called according to his purpose so verse number 20 which he wrote In Christ it's what it says wrote In Christ when he raised him from the dead what kind of power was that it was a power that had never happened before it was a power that raised up Christ from the dead in the first place it was a Wonder of Wonders that God could die in his son there on Calvary not to mention to rise from the dead but he said he he wrought a work that in Christ when he raised him from the dead and set him at his own right hand in the Heavenly place again now notice we started off Paul said I want to pray for you and I have been praying for you that you'd get the spirit of wisdom but everything we're studying down through here just starts bragging on him more more more and revealing more and more and more about him cuz that's what it does and he says in that verse 21 he said far above all principality he said it's bigger than any state or office he said it's above all powers or abilities or authorities and might or force or a miracle or whatever and Dominion government office or authority there and every name that is named in other words there's no other name given among heaven whereby we must be saved he said this name's been set apart but not only in this world not only here but also in that which is to come he said it's such a good thing it ain't going to change it's going to keep right on going he said the more that you see about uh this Spirit of wisdom and learn about what he did the more you see him high lifted up and over all power over all principality over all everything in other words the Lord's getting bigger bigger bigger bigger bigger and bigger and the more you're enlightened the more you see the more he gives you the spirit of wisdom the more you understand about who the Lord is and that's what it's all about in the first place and the Bible said not only that he put up verse 22 he put all things under his feet that means he's over it all or it means simply he's Lord now the world don't think so but he's Lord there so much Lord that he has his way with the kings of this Earth and that their heart is in his hand lost or saved and he' turn it wherever he wants to and gave him that be the Lord to be the head over all things to the church he's the head of everything now we started off with a spirit of wisdom there we started learning more and he got bigger and bigger and bigger and bigger and bigger and then he brings it back to kind of a close you might say down at verse number 22 he's the head over all things to the church and you think about this out of all the things that he could have named the church you know what the church is the love of the Lord's life I don't understand that but he loved himself he loved the church and gave himself for it and John said we love him because he first loved does but he comes down here and builds the Lord up so high and mighty in that verse number 21 that you can't hardly get him down and all of a sudden here he is sitting in the church in verse 22 Hallelujah folks it's about him it's not about us and he's to be head over all things to the church and then verse 23 which is his body and what is that the fullness of him that filth All In All For You are complete in him for in him dwelleth all the fullness of the godhead bodily that's some of the verse 15 through 23 is some of the most descriptive beautiful scriptures you'll ever read in your Bible CU it takes us sets us in the bleachers so to to speak and he puts on a display of wisdom Spirit of wisdom inside of us if we are so blessed to understand it and he just gets bigger and bigger and bigger and bigger and bigger and then at the end of it he comes up real close and grabs you around and gives you a good old hug because the church is his body thank God folks we got more than this easy believer some crowd we got more than this this um once saved always saved we got way more than a baptism we got more than a home of we've got a precious Lord and all we need is a spirit of wisdom and again how do you know what the spirit of wisdom is when it takes you to him and expands on what he is and what he did that's a spirit of wisdom let's Stand Together that was lengthy Sunday so I'm going to cut you short tonight besides that I don't know nothing else I can say any better than what I've just already said a spirit of wisdom now I don't mean it in an arrogant Way by no means and we should never take anything of the Lord that way but you know when the Lord you given you a spirit of wisdom you know when the Lord has come to you and made him big and big big and bigger and bigger what is Camp Meeting folks making him bigger and bigger and bigger and bigger it's not putting on a show if somebody comes that's great but nobody else comes if we're here and we see him in a bigger way than than we when we started it'd be a great success for a camp meeting it's not dependent on how many is saved you won't find that in the word of God anywhere but you will find that we gain when we see him for who he is and may God give us that in the days ahead cuz in the days ahead I have a strong feeling we're going to need it more than we've ever needed it before but I will say this when I see this what little wisdom Spirit of wisdom he's given me I say thank you Lord it's way bigger than me like uh who was it went to see Solomon she said I've heard about you with the hearing of the ear but it said the half has never been told this is where we're at so you'll know when you getting some Spirit of wisdom you'll see him more and more and more God bless you you're dismissed hope you have a safe trip home be careful and pray for each other and pray for these folks that need [Applause] help but now I can [Music] see for
